When a job as easy as pumpkin picking in various places all over Fiore appears on the Silver Wolf job board, it clears out fast. By the time Theo got there to see what job offerings there were, there was only one left. Sakuramori. Theo didn't know why that one might have been left, but without thinking of the implications, he snatched it and saw jewel signs in his eyes.

Gathering up two guildmates to go with him, soon the ace was flying his pirate ship off the side of the mountain with Aspen and Mercury to keep him company. The beautiful forest was actually quite close to the guildhall, aerially speaking. Twenty minutes later, Theo, despite all his flare for mishaps, expertly landed his gilded pirate ship at the edge of the sea of pink-dipped trees.

It was as if autumn had no power over this place. The aptly named forest was full of sakura trees in full bloom, despite spring being long passed. Theo had never been to this place, so his arctic hues widened, mystified as he exited his airboat. "Whoa!" he exclaimed, almost childlike as he jogged ahead and straight down a worn path leading beneath the beautiful canopy. The magic of Sakuramori was palpable, something Theo largely ignored. He only grinned and touched the blooms, spotting a winding path leading into the fairyland.

Like most well-laid traps, a cart waited not too far down the path, ready for all the pumpkins they'd pick. The question was...what pumpkins? Where was the patch? They didn't grow in forests...or did they? Just as he'd been about to say so, he saw a peculiarly glowing gourd between two lush bushes. "Oh...Oh, guys! There are pumpkins in here!" he informed them with much enthusiasm as if he'd spoken his doubt about the existence of pumpkins here, which he definitely had not. "It's like a treasure hunt!" Of course, it was. If he could make a treasure hunt out of something, he would. Not many things in life thrilled him more than a search these days. "We have to explore to find them, how cool. This day just got so much better."

As he reached for another by a trunk a few feet off the path, the derpy man got his own feet caught on some vines, dramatically tumbling into the glistening undergrowth with a surprised shriek. "I'm ok!" he called with a laugh, retrieving the second pumpkin even though his butt was where his head should be against the trunk. Flopping over in an attempt to right himself, just as he rolled from his back to his knees to get up, he came face to face with a... a...

"G-G-GHOST!" Theo wailed, clamoring out of the bushes to collapse onto the path. Leaves stuck to his navy tracksuit and in his onyx hair and even at the tip of the finger he held out, trembling as it pointed to a hazy figure with a grinning face in the process of fading from sight. Now hold up! No one had mentioned that this pretty forest would be haunted! Theo was an easily spooked soul! How cruel...

Post by Yuri and Yuli 31st October 2019, 10:46 am

Did she even agree to this? Once more, Aspen found herself on the Treasure Hunter's pirate ship, doing everything she could to hold off the waves of nausea that attempted to wash over her, fists clenching the railing on the sides of the vessel in a characteristic and temperamental show of defiance with such force that she was afraid she could splinter the material if she didn't hold herself back. This was torture, and why Theo, her quirky guildmate, had approached her directly for this job was beyond her, given that in this scenario she was not exactly a valuable asset, her mind focussing on keeping the breakfast she'd had earlier in her stomach in the hopes that this less than joyful ride would come to an end soon. This gave her time to think about the fact that Theo seemed to have approached another member of the guild to accompany them as well, however. Vague memories flooded back to the Metal Dragon Slayer, though they were hazy and somewhat clouded. Was this the nausea messing with her brain or had she simply had one too many drinks on that day? She didn't know, and at this particular moment in time, she cared very little, praying to the gods that this little trip Theo had orchestrated would finally find it's close.

Luckily, the relief in form of a soft landing came soon and wouldn't make Aspen wait too long, the girl stepping off the boat, ship, whatever the Treasure Hunter called it as quickly as possible. A quick healing spell and a few deep breaths were enough for nausea to subside rapidly, bringing the slayer back to a state that was closer to consciousness than before. Which brought her to the next thing. Why was she even here again? Was it really just to pick pumpkins? What a waste of time. She could've easily done other things with her time, like-

Within an instant, the thought she'd begun thinking was driven away as Aspen turned, laying eyes upon the forest before her, her eyes widening in shock, awe, amazement. The mere concept of blossoming sakura was foreign to her, the plantlife in her country limited to dull, sad shrubbery and grass or tall, thin pine trees at best. This ... this was something the slayer had never imagined could even exist. The beauty of a storm of light pink petals that danced in the glistening sunlight was stunning, leaving her frozen in place for seconds that seemed to fly by in heartbeats. The regret she had felt for coming this way had been blown away like nothing, leaving her with the overwhelming feelings of fascination and curiosity. Aspen blinked a few times, only now realizing that Theo had already begun merrily striding ahead, leaving her standing there in her clumsy daze, the slayer, despite her awe, snapping out of it to return to a somewhat more level-headed mindset, her mouth that had been noticeably agape with her emotions closing back into the ever-stoic expression of her usual self, the slayer making a point to catch up to the Treasure Hunter with quick and hasty steps, perhaps in an attempt to cover the very fact that her initial response to this unknown sight had been so emotional. If anything, though, this fact would serve to get her wondering ... if Theo knew of places like this one, what else did he know? What else could he show the slayer?

No. such a line of thinking was dangerous. The mission was all that mattered. She was a trained professional, a soldier. It was pathetic of her to think like a child, and even moreso to show it. Angered with herself for the lack of discipline more than anything, her brows arched closer together ever-so-slightly, Aspen resorted to following the Treasure Hunter wordlessly, acknowledging his discovery of pumpkins with not much more than a nod, although she seemed evidently lost in thought. Wordlessly, she started picking out several of the much-desired pumpkins, creating a small knife from one of the keys in her pocket to cut them loose and begin collecting them in a pile to the side, only looking up when Theo's obviously agitated voice echoed past her, glancing off to where the Treasure Hunter was pointing, quickly raising an eyebrow. "Are you going crazy, Treasure Hunter?", she asked, the hint of her accent giving her monotonous voice a tone that could be interpreted as condescending, "I don't see anything". She was honest, looking over their immediate vicinity without noticing the phenomenon Theo was speaking of. Well, apart from the strangely high number of crows dotted around the place, maybe, but she didn't exactly know how these avians behaved in this environment so far from Pergrande. With little more than a shrug, Aspen turned around, shaking her head and focussing her attention back on the pumpkin at her feet.

    Mercury Banner
Cunning is the art of concealing our own defects
    and discovering other peoples' weaknesses.
Mercury felt that she had settled into Silver Wolf quite nicely. The members were pretty friendly and approachable for the most part, or at least the ones she had met so far. As promised, she had donated a couple smaller gadgets to the guild’s libraries for research, leaving many of the more scientific members obsessing over types of metals and hardware that they’d never seen before. No one had figured out yet that she wasn’t from Earthland, and for the moment the alien was content to keep it that way, but it still brought a bit of a smile to her face to see their eyes light with excitement at her contributions.

Now, she had been pulled into a small job by two other individuals that she hadn’t really met or worked with much yet. Well really, it was Theo that had reached out to her and invited her along. He was a young man around her age, and quite friendly, perhaps even a bit excitable. It was a stark contrast to his other companion Aspen, who seemed to prefer keeping to herself. Actually, she seemed a bit annoyed by Theo, but that could have just been the motion sickness. Theo owned a ship that Mercury had taken an immediate liking toward, insisting on inspecting every inch of it that he would let her see and complimenting him on its craft. The breeze felt wonderful through her short lavender hair, and she was all smiles during the trip, eagerly looking over the railings to the ground below.

It wasn’t a terribly long trip, which was just as well for poor Aspen who couldn’t seem to get off the airboat fast enough. As soon as the other metal slayer’s feet in the ground she seemed leagues better than before. Thankfully, their task today wasn’t a difficult one. They were merely to pick a few pumpkins for an upcoming event that needed as many of them as possible to supply appropriately fall themed snacks. Mercury wasn’t familiar with pumpkins, or really any type of gourd, but she’d done some quick research with her iLac on the way over to help her learn more about them and how to make sure she was picking ripe ones.

Before she could even begin to foray through the patch, however, she was equally as taken away as her guildmates by the beauty of the forest before them. “Wow,” she breathed, unafraid to comment her awe out loud. “This place is utterly stunning..!” Even though she knew it wouldn’t really do any justice, she took her iLac out and snapped a few photographs, doing her best to make them as picturesque as possible.

By the time she put her phone away, Theo had already run off to start collecting some of the fruit. Aspen made her way toward where he’d gone and Mercury followed suit, not wanting her guildmates to think her lazy or unfocused. She had just found her first ripe pumpkin and was working on unattaching it from its vine when Theo tripped and fell with a small shriek. This obviously wasn’t the first time he’d fallen on his face as he quickly got up and assured them he was fine. Mercury smirked and chuckled a bit, amused by his energy.

But then, seconds later, he cried out again, this time in terror. Claiming he’d seen a ghost, he burst from his location back on the main path, his clothing and hair littered with dirt and twigs and leaves. He pointed back toward something that was supposedly behind him. Aspen and Mercury both looked in the direction he’d indicated, finding nothing. The other woman questioned Theo’s claim, even going so far as to call him crazy. Mercury herself was a bit skeptical as well, but that had less to do with Theo and more to do with the fact that she really wasn’t overly familiar with the concept of ghosts and hauntings. She had an idea of what they were, but still didn’t necessarily understand them, nor the connotations of fear that came with them.

Mercury shared a glance with Aspen before shrugging. “I don’t see anything either,” she confessed, her tone a bit more kind than the other woman’s. “Maybe we shou-- HEY!” The woman stumbled back a couple steps as a couple of crows swooped down from a nearby tree and started pecking and scratching at her. “What the hell? Get away from me!” She tried to swat them back with one of her hands, using the other to protect her face, but it wasn’t helping much. She really didn’t want to kill the animals, which she assumed were just being territorial, but they weren’t really giving her much of a choice. Slipping Mercy from its holster, she pointed the overly large pistol up and blasted a couple shots, knocking a few of the crows out of the sky.

;w; Killed the Crows || 1500/1500 WC Done

As usual, no one saw what he saw. Also, as usual, he ignored Aspen's harsh tone and treated her as if she'd been speaking with all the cheerfulness of a twitterpated sparrow in the height of spring, so far acting like it didn't bother him that she rarely, if ever, called him by his actual name. "I'm always a little crazy, I've been told," he grinned, shaking off the fear for now but not the forest-y debris. If neither of the girls saw the ghost, maybe he did imagine it. Probably not, but maybe. There was no use in trying to describe it to convince them. Ghosts were better left to personal experience, though the idea that it was still lurking in the undergrowth still freaked him out a little. Maybe if he stuck strictly to the path, nothing would show itself.

Theo was a derpy young man, but he was pretty observant when he needed to be. The dark birds swooping at his new friend didn't escape his icy eyes. He was in the same boat as the other two. Most of Theo's life had not been lived in Fiore, so he wasn't sure how Fiore crows behaved. Also, while he'd heard of this place, he'd never actually been here, so maybe this was something special to the area. Of all the places he'd traveled, it wasn't farfetched that the flora and fauna might act out of the norm. He'd seen it before, especially in caves and high on mountains. The more isolated the area, the more protective the animals.

Wait, where these crows? The onyx haired man made some sort of whine sound, finding the creatures absolutely annoying. Crows and magpies were known for snatching shinies. He'd had to fend them off of his treasures more than once, and if someone ever asked, he would tell them that tracking down a feathery thief to its nest in a huge forest was a nightmare. Maybe they were acting all demonic because they had a treasure trove here. His eyes lit up with interest and greed. Two could play this game. Of all the times they'd stolen from him, maybe he could steal something really nice back. Admittedly, the likelihood that any of these feathery jerks were the actual ones who had snatched his goods was highly unlikely, all crow kind would pay for the sins of their brethren!

However, before he could try to track any of the growing number of hostile blackbirds, shots rang out! The treasure hunter jumped like he was shot, whirling to stare at her. "H-Hey! Don't shoot them! Geez..." he wheezed, grabbing his heart as if the action would make it stop racing. "I wanna find their nests if I can. A little sidetrack from the pumpkins won't hurt, especially if it's worth a lot of jewels...right?" he suggested with a devious gleam, getting the shiny itch really bad. His imagination played out quite the scenario for him, like an old film projected on canvas. High in the pink petaled tree, there was an impossibly large nest. Crows flocked to it like bees to a hive, dropping necklaces and rings and crowns and chalices, all in glittery silver and gold. Occasionally they'd accent a pile with a rainbow assortment of gems carved statues of jade and onyx. Oh yes, he'd very much love to find this holy grail and shove it all into canvas sacks to load it onto his ship...

"Ack!" the jello man squawked, brought out of his pleasant daydream by a violent peck atop his noggin. That hurt! Still intent on a non-violent approach, Theo lobbed a blob of jello up into the air at the offending featherbrain. It hit one of the crows and absorbed it inside the translucent gelatinous mass. Only its head remained free so it could breathe because Theo was a lot of things, but he was definitely not an animal killer...unless he had to be. As the sticky sugar thudded onto the path and rolled to a stop, Theo scampered forward and crouched over it, tilting his head. "Hello, you..." he said with some distaste and disappointment, expecting there to be something more exciting about the weirdos, what with how it was acting. "It's just a grouchy bird...maybe it's hangry-- GAAAH!"

Before he could even finish his announcement and consequent musing, a fresh mass of crows filtered through the thick canopy of trees above, like a dark tornado coming to whisk Dorothy-Theo off the Land of SakuraOz. His shrieking form was totally engulfed, and the surprise of it all kept him from really defending himself. He didn't do well when he was flustered and distracted, meaning the highest-ranking member of their team today would just howl from within the black whirlwind, random explicatives filtering out to the others as he flailed in a feeble attempt to being pecked full of holes.

In a moment of action and panic, he formed a large jello gumdrop around himself in an instant, seizing himself and all the birds flocking him in a twenty-foot by twenty-foot mold of his magic's namesake. He even had some tree branches and bushes caught in it since the path through the forest wasn't very wide. The ginormous green blob jiggled and wiggled from the motion within, crows trying fruitlessly to escape before succumbing to their fate. The large sugar mountain continued to jiggle as a mass in the center moved upward slowly, eventually producing a small pimple-like protrusion bursting from the top. Though now just a neck and head with a humungous, mound-like gelatinous body of lime, Theo gasped in some glorious air before taking stock of his new situation. "Aw..." he pouted, eyes growing glossy with the threat of tears, "They all suffocated...I didn't mean to..." Great, now he'd never find their treasure he was convinced they had!

[EVENT] OwOky SpOwOky Pumpkin Picking Empty Re: [EVENT] OwOky SpOwOky Pumpkin Picking

Post by Yuri and Yuli 4th November 2019, 10:41 am

It seemed like the presence of the crows was not a coincidence. The avians kept a watchful eye, but their numbers seemed to increase exponentially, and before Aspen knew what was going on a swarm had formed, beginning to attack the other guild member that had decided to accompany Theo and Aspen on what was supposed to be a peaceful pumpkin-picking mission. Mercury had already begun shooting the pests out of the sky. So the other Silver Wolf mage was practiced in the use of firearms as well, hm? Aspen would be sure to make a mental note of that and keep a closer eye later, perhaps inquire about where she had learned to shoot in a passing moment of worried, instinctual fear and self-preservation. For now, however, the woman's move was a good call. Aspen yanked the Iron Key from the chain around her neck, and with the subtle, cyan pulse of magical energy, cast her spell. The Iron Key liquified, expanded, creating metal from nothing before taking a solid shape once again, the Metal Slayer grasping the handgun that she had created before taking aim.

It seemed that within the few seconds it took to produce the weapon, however, the act had become somewhat redundant. Out of nowhere, as soon as a portion of the crows had attacked, the rest followed them, causing a chain reaction that amounted to what almost seemed like a storm of birds from the outside, a black mass of bodies swirling around the Silver Wolf mages and darkening the sky. It didn't take long for them to shift their attention to a specific target, though, the swarm focussing on the Treasure Hunter in particular, circling him before diving in for the attack. Aspen raised the arm that held the weapon, but the individual crows making up the mass of creatures were too quick, too nimble. While it would be hard to miss them, she ran the risk of potentially hitting Theo. Individual dead crows wouldn't harm the swarm as a whole, either.

She had to act quickly, and think quicker, although, in the end, Theo really didn't need her help. With a burst of admittedly strange magic, the man produced some kind of tangible mass around himself that engulfed the avians entirely, trapping them inside it and neutralizing them instantly. Aspen lowered the gun, a small smirk appearing on her lips. Looks like the Treasure Hunter was capable when he wanted to be, after all. "Good job, Theo", her monotonous tone still dominated her voice, although it contained a discernible hint of obvious emotion. And indeed, the other Silver Wolf mage was making himself out to be something other than the pushover she had initially thought him to be. A development that Aspen welcomed, nay, valued, even. Quick steps carried her over to the mass of Jello, a substance she was entirely unfamiliar with as well, before extending a hand, offering to help the Treasure Hunter free himself of what she believed to be a powerful arcane prison.

Whether Theo would actually accept her help or not, it didn't matter too much. She was satisfied that the threat had been dealt with quickly and efficiently, and seemingly without any injury as well, which was, of course, preferable. They could continue their assignment where they had left off and get this over with as quickly as possible.

That was, of course, until something other than the Silver Wolf mage had begun moving within the wobbly mass of magical matter that Theo had created out of nothing, the colorful compound bouncing around for a few moments before a massive, bird-like humanoid burst from it, it's massive, sharp claws digging through it with apparent ease. "Get back!". The command came instinctively, Aspen, in one fluid and practiced motion, raising the handgun up, firmly grasping it with both hands and immediately taking aim at the creature's chest. Without thinking about it she had fallen back into her training, her trigger finger twitching with every minute movement of the creature as it freed itself from the blob of Jello, waiting for a sign, anything, that indicated it was hostile, the Slayer's laser-like, tense focus finally reaching it's peak when the creature unleashed a deep, bird-like scream

The soldier girl wouldn't hesitate a second, explosion after explosion lighting up the muzzle of the gun, the comparatively quiet clang of the brass on the dirt ringing out only a moment after each shot. Projectile after projectile would make short work of the monstrosity, the Slayer doing her best to turn it into a bloodied piece of swiss cheese before finally beginning to step closer with every shot. The creature couldn't hold itself up anymore, dropping to one knee, Aspen releasing her magazine with the push of a button, pulling another one from her pocket with fascinating speed and inserting it into the weapon with a distinctive click, sliding the rail atop the pistol back before focussing her eyes down the weapon's sights again. The creature was on its last legs. Time to finish the job. Sprinting forward, the crow-monster unleashed a wide swing towards the Silver Wolf mage with the last of its energy, Aspen dashing to the side, dropping to the ground before finally getting in range, the barrel of the pistol now almost between the monster's eyes. With ever-stoic expression, she pulled the trigger one last time. The beasts limbs slumped to the ground almost immediately, before finally, it collapsed to the side, unmoving. Aspen took a deep breath, the weapon in her grasp turning back into the Key it had originally been with a sigh. That had been almost easier than she thought. Still ... where had this thing come from? Why did it look like ... well, a crow? This mission, which had initially been simply about picking some pumpkins, had taken a more than just strange turn. Evidently, it had become dangerous. Maybe the Treasure Hunter was right. Maybe this place, this forest, as beautiful and stunning as it was, was actually haunted.

Cunning is the art of concealing our own defects
    and discovering other peoples' weaknesses.
“I’ll stop shooting them when they stop pecking at me..!” Mercury retorted when Theo asked her not to kill the birds. Despite the harshness of her words, it was clear by her tone that she honestly didn’t want to shoot them, but there wasn’t much else she could do. If they were going to be violent with her, then she was going to protect herself. There were just so many of them! Aspen was starting to call forth her own gun, but before either woman could really do much more Theo was forced to act.

Mercury could only stare, emerald eyes blinking in bewilderment as the largest mold of jello she’d ever seen appeared before her eyes, trapping all the remaining birds within. She had seen jello once or twice as a dessert option at places she’d visited since coming to Earthland, but absolutely nothing to this stature. As Theo crawled his way out of the top and Aspen complimented him, she wandered over and poked at the wobbling mass. “I think this may be the most bizarre magic I have ever seen,” she mused, highly entertained by the unexpected development.

But of course, it wasn’t going to be that simple. As Aspen worked on helping Theo out of his own creation, another creature started digging its way out of the gelatin. It, too, had crow like features but it was a single, humanoid beast of sorts. Before Mercury had a chance to react, Aspen was already lifting her pistol and firing a clip of bullets at the thing. Not wanting Theo to be trapped while there was still danger going on, she quickly took over trying to help the young man get freed while Aspen laid waste to the creature. By the time it had managed to make its way out of the jello it was falling to its knees in the throes of death.

“Well, I believe I owe you an apology, Theo,” the lavender haired woman said sincerely, if candidly. She wasn’t exactly sure how hauntings and ghosts usually worked, but there was definitely something weird going on here. Taking a cautious look around to make sure nothing else was watching them, she noticed another odd thing. “Hey uh… Was that scarecrow here before and I just didn’t notice it?” There was a rather macabre looking scarecrow by some of the pumpkins that she had only just noticed in that moment. Mercury was perfectly willing to believe that she had missed seeing it before, but her instincts were screaming that it was both a new development and a danger. Paranoia after all the crows just now, perhaps..?

    Definitely not.

Even as she commented on it, it started to move, running straight towards them. Once again, she instinctively loosed a couple blasts from her handgun into the thing but it didn’t even slow down. As it ran, a deadly looking scythe appeared in its hand. “Oh you have got to be kidding me..!” The thing was quick, and a gun was going to be no match for its weapon when it got into melee range. Thankfully, Mercury carried more than just a gun with her.

Just as it was swinging its weapon down at her, she pressed the button on Mercy that swapped its form from a handgun to a long sword. She raised the weapon up just in time to deflect the attack away. As the scarecrow stumbled to recover, Mercury’s blade began to glow white hot, the air around the weapon rippling from the molten high temperature. Animated or not, it was still just a creature of straw and cloth, and anything even remotely akin to fire was going to all but eviscerate it.

It cackled with manic pleasure and came at her again. Mercury held her ground, carefully calculating its movement. When it struck again, she positioned herself so that her sword caught under the arc of the scythe, hooking it. Before it could pull away, she stomped on its foot and an unseen spike of metal shot from under the appendage, piercing the scarecrow and pinning it so it couldn’t run away from her. She held the weapons locked until the heat from her sword melted through the metal of the scythe, causing it to shatter. Wasting no time, Mercury took advantage of her foe being unarmed and swung her weapon around, swiftly beheading the thing.

Thankfully, it dropped to the ground, lifeless. By the time she stepped away from it, she had already recalled the metal spike back up to her foot until it was flat once more. Her sword cooled down, returning to its natural color — though she made sure to stab the thing a couple more times, just to be safe. “So uh… is this what pumpkin picking is always like or did we just get lucky?” she asked her guildmates.

"Awwww, Aspen," the jello mage warbled, face taking on a mushy expression as his eyes threatened to spill not tears of sadness, but ones of happiness. "You called me Theo!" he gushed like a parent over a child uttering its first garbled 'da-da', extremely pleased despite his predicament. In Theo's life, it was the small things that mattered. Even in the midst of this very bizarre outing, nothing could keep him from his various distractions. As she reached out to help him out of his own crow-peppered jello mold, he reached to try and take her hand, but it was too late. He hadn't noticed the crows vibrating about and becoming this bigger thing! He only noticed it as he fought its way free, jiggling his own trapped form backward and all other directions from loose. The man wouldn't be trapped too much longer, though. Mercury came to his aid, and soon his feet were back on the ground.

As Aspen did her thing and unloaded her clips into the creature, the ice-blue eyed man watched her like a child at the circus. It was amazing. Before long the scary bird mutant was taken care of. "Wow, Aspen! That was so cool," he grinned, giving her an energetic thumbs-up, as if the thing she killed wasn't made of the crows he'd nearly sobbed over earlier.

Mercury's comment on the scarecrow drew his surprised gaze, which he now squinted. "No, I don't remember it. But maybe I missed it when the ghost scared me.." he commented, though his tone made no mistake of his frayed nerves. The line of his mouth wobbled in growing fear, finding all of this to be a little too spooky. The forest was pretty, but it seemed out to get them, and Theo didn't wanna get got. Pain and death weren't his thing, and honestly, he was pretty jumpy anyway. Ghosts and crows and scarecrows were trying to protect the pumpkins...but Theo was also a man of his word. As much as he wanted to hightail it back to the ship, he'd committed to getting these pumpkins! He just needed to see them as treasures. Hollow, edible treasures.

The suspicious scarecrow was suspicious after all. Despite his redeeming display of magic with the crows, even if that had been semi-accidental, Theo released a terrified screech and stumbled backward, letting his new friend take over the fighting of the possessed garden guardian. His fear was premature, though, as Mercury also used her guns and other metal weapons to show the enemy who was boss, Theo had time to humorously dub it a 'gardian' in his head and snicker at his pun.

Once it was defeated as well, the amazed young man's cold hues darted between the girls. "I wanna use guns, too!" Theo declared, feeling left out but excited to join in in his own way. Two jello pistols formed in each hand, though there was no enemy to use it on. As far as he knew, they were safe now. Maybe that's why he thought it was time to play around, pretending there were ghosts deep in the trees which he shot with jello bullets, jumping around and making quiet "pew pew" sounds. Sure, they weren't real guns, but they were as close as he could come with what Mercury had dubbed as his 'most bizarre' magic.

Of course, Theo once again saw the actual ghost as he was shooting an imaginary one, and it startled him so badly that he tripped once more and went rolling down a small hill, now deeper into the forest. When he stopped, he was miraculously back on his feet, but his back was against something boney and cold. Once the world stopped spinning, he noticed the growing fog, as well as the rotting gourd arm swooping around him, holding him in place as the other tried to slash at him! He screamed and screamed some more. All he'd wanted to do was pick pumpkins!

What happened next was some sort of disturbing dance. Even though the pumpkin king had a firm grip on him, his body acted more like a fluid than flesh and bone. He bent unnaturally and slipped and slid within the grip, impossibly escaping each jab and slash to the point that the ghoulish wraith with the pumpkin head stabbed its own self in the creepy cloak with a claw. It wheezed its rotting fruit breath in frustration, but Theo had only gotten started. Continuing to wriggle around, he now added shooting his guns at the creature. He pointed them behind him, backward, upside down as his body thinned into a straw shape to the left, then he reaches and blasted the thing's shoulder by stretching an arm over his own body to get to an open area of cloak. The sticky guns were shooting every which way at every angle, blowing sweet-scented holes all over the pumpkin king, until one through the orange head proved as the last straw. No longer wanting to keep Theo close to try and poison him and bathe in his blood, it gathered its dark energy and forced it out of its body.

The burst of dark energy came as a surprise, sending a lightly wounded jello man bouncing off to ping ball among the trees. Once he came to a stop he popped back up, frowning. "Now that was uncalled for..." he muttered, frowning. The pain brought out a more serious side in the man, who rose and simply held a hand up. No more games. He summoned his gigantic jello dragon that he called Smaug, and Smaug landed on his foe before doing a happy mariachi dance until the king was nothing more than pumpkin pie filling....if pumpkin pie filling was possessed, rotten, and poisonous.

Hoping that was the last of the attacks for the evening, he returned to his partners. "We're just incredibly lucky, Mercury," Theo answered at last, much delayed, but with all the threats seemingly defeated, it was safe to talk. "I'm luckiest unlucky man....or the unluckiest lucky man....Hm, well, pick either one of those, and it still remains the same. This is probably my fault, I probably should have mentioned it before. Hahaha!" the treasure hunter guffawed gregariously. Despite the bit of blood leaking from his back through his tracksuit jacket, Theo seemed keen to finish up what had once been considered a safe and easy job. He picked up a rather large one, intending to put it on the pile, but instead grew impish. Punching a hole in the bottom, he quickly scooped out the gross innards and poked a couple eyes in, placing it on his head. "WooooOOooOoo..." he moaned, putting his fingers out like claws. "I am the neewww Pumpkin Kiiing!" he howled, bending down to rapidly pick up pumpkins and throw them at his friends to catch, perhaps making the job more interesting in the process.
