The Iron Dragon Slayer

Winter was coming once again. Ada honestly wasn’t sure how she felt about this. She leaned back against a light post and closed her eyes. Tammy decided to hide her clothes and only leave her a skirt that barely covered even half her thighs, and a crop top. Both of the shirt and skirt were red with a faux fur trim, even the white boots that Tammy left for her. At least the boots were flats. She takes a deep breath as she looked around the festival grounds. The exceed that had stolen her regular clothes had offered to take care of the triplets beforehand so she and Yuudai would be able to go to the festival with ease. She wanted the two to go on a date. Ada honestly didn’t want to go to a dinky festival, but she figured she could get some wintery ale or something while there.

Kicking herself off of the post, the black haired dragon slayer glanced around herself. There was something coming near her. She quickly threw her arm out and saw that her kunai had jabbed itself in an… what in the world was it? ‘Seems like an ice scorpion.’ Veles commented to his host before a group of the blue and purple scorpion things came up from just out of the shadows, not that Ada minded with her heightened sight and hearing. She glares at the creatures and squints rather hard at them while they seemed to start stabbing their stingers at her. “Okay… Apparently I’m not going to get ale so soon…” She mutters to herself before she takes her horned flask and takes a quick swing of it. She grinned and simply just stomped on the creatures. They were honestly weak and nothing compared to her strength. ‘Stop bragging to yourself. You attract danger wherever you go. Watch you do the same here just now…’ The dragon was sounding smug to her, but she rolled her eyes.

“Yeah right Veles, I did nothing to provoke these things coming besides just standing here. Now bug off before I cut you off again.” She growls as she goes and grabs the kunai from the one scorpion. She began using it to clean the underside of her fingernail, and takes a deep breath. “Yuudai should be here soon… Maybe this date won’t be so bad after all.” She snickers. If something else other than the wimpy ice scorpions came, she may actually have a good time. Out of the corner of her eye, Ada noticed something. A frozen t-shirt contest. She blinked and honestly could not help herself. Her feet started trailing over to where it was and crossed her arms over her chest. “Come on up! Come and try our Frozen T-Shirt Contest! First person to unravel their shirt will get a couple of tokens for winning!” The man holding the megaphone calls out to the crowd. “We have frozen T-Shirts here that you get to figure out how to unfreeze and put on! Who wants to give it a go?!” A few people quickly ran up on the stage because they wanted to win a prize and enjoyed doing them. Ada takes a deep breath and moves herself to get up on the stage herself. She wanted to do something while she waited for her husband.

She puts her fist on her hip and listened to the announcer give the rules, which were simple. Unravel the shirt and put it on all the way. As soon as an air horn was sounded off, Adalinda started working at her shirt. Too bad she didn’t have fire with her. She noticed some people had gone off the stage to try and break it up on things. The slayer simply jumped off the stage and let her shirt drop on the ground as she suddenly was pounding it with her iron clubs. As she was doing so, she heard a crack and froze for a moment. On piece of her shirt was broken off. She hoped it wasn’t something important to the shirt… she’d find out soon though. She continued to pound on the shirt to start getting rid of the ice. How fast she was striking it was actually fast enough to melt some of the ice, or crack it real well and break it apart easily. She originally ignored the second piece that broke off, and was working on the bigger piece. Despite being stiff, she got the bigger part open and realized that she quite literally broke off half the collar and a sleeve. She quickly takes the iron club and was beating it on the little piece just like she was the larger piece.

She glanced to her side and noticed someone else was just about done with unraveling their shirt. She let up a snarl and started pounding on the piece of frozen cloth harder. It soon broke and she quickly ripped it from itself and forced her arm through the ice, haphazardly connecting the two still partially frozen pieces. She put her arms on her hips as she let out a huff. One of the other contestants had finished at the same time as her. The host of the game honestly didn’t catch who had one. “Um… who do you guys say won?!” He calls to the crowd as he held a hand over Ada’s head. The crowd cheered for her before he held his hand over the other person, in which they also cheered for him just as loud. The host then takes a deep breath as he looked over them both. “I think you both won!” He chuckles to them and hands them both a couple coins.

While the dragon slayer had been doing her competition, she sensed a familiar feeling nearby, and heard her husband. “Bout damn time.” She muttered to herself. Of course she was aware that Yuudai was finally here. But he sounded like he had some more fun than she had. She looked at the dinky little token that she held in her hands and takes a deep breath. Was it worth it? Attempting to freeze herself to thaw out this shirt? The other contestants had been shivering as she peeled off the shirt and held onto the ice token. She looked up as Yuudai approached, and smirked over to him. “Yeah, not as fun as you seemed to be having though.” She chuckles. She traded him the token for the cup and hummed happily to the taste of the cocoa. “Irish cream is perfect.” She chuckles a bit. “I have no pockets, can you hold onto that token? I’m not shoving it down my shirt either. Tammy stole my clothes again after asking to try on some clothes…” She puffed her cheeks up a bit. She hated being in a skirt. She may kill that cat yet.

“I hope the rest of today will be better and more exciting than that contest I did… or I can just drink the rest of the day away.” She laughs merrily while sipping her cocoa again. She grins widely and looked to her husband again. “So what say you? Something else you’d like to do here today? Or do just blow this joint?” She jabbed her thumb away as she snorts and takes another sip. She could already feel the alcohol taking effect on her. She felt her focus coming back fully once again. While she sipped her hot chocolate, she honestly wondered what actually entertaining things would happen here… She looked at a sign stapled on a post about ice sculpting, and tapped her chin. Maybe ice sculpting wouldn’t be too bad? Test her hands at that. She paused though as her ears picked up something.

Screams.

They were coming from the direction of the snowman making contest. She had heard something about a snowball war after that contest and honestly didn’t like the sound of those screams. She gave a look towards Yuudai and chugged her hot cocoa, making a face as the hot drink slightly burned her throat, but shook her head to clear her mind for a moment. “I don’t know about you… but that didn’t sound too great to me.” She says as she directs herself towards the screams. She holds onto the mug that she had starts off jogging in that direction. ‘Why not just change into a dragon and fly over there? Or a wolf?’ Veles snorts to his host as Adalinda rolls her eyes. She couldn’t do that suddenly here in front of everyone, especially since she was actually at the contest just then. She blinks a moment.

There were multiple little snowmen about that were enchanted to fight one another, but one of them was the biggest of them all. It was throwing its arms around and letting its arms and fists slam into the ground. The fist had made the ground rumble and Ada noticed that the people were basically gone from the area, or hiding under the nearby stalls. She takes a deep breath and feels the grey scales form over her body and her arms steel up. A cheeky grin was on her face. “Now here’s a party!” She couldn’t help but cheer out. That got the creature’s attention. He started to run after Ada now as it lifted it’s arms and went to pound at the ground before her. Ada just snorted and grabbed its arm. She tried to lift it up, but the ice of the snowman seemed to be just heavy enough that she couldn’t lift him up more than a meter before it yanked its arm back.

Clearly he was stronger than she expected. Ada shook her shoulders. This was going to get interesting now. She charged in just as he started to throw his arms around again, but she had gotten just close enough that she as out of range for the massive arms to touch her. “Tick slow there, buddy!” She cackles a little before she brings her arm out and punches a rather heavy punch to the leg of the brute. It seemed to actually feel that and started stomping about. Ada quickly jumped back and chuckles to herself. She was just small enough to be able to dodge close to and away from it. “‘You can’t catch me, i’m the gingerbread man!’” She couldn’t help but tease before she came in and summoned her iron chains. She wanted to see how well it could deal against these buddies of hers.

As soon as Ada lashed out one of her chains, it wrapped around the brutes foot, and she quickly yanked on the foot to pull it out from under him. It was already weak from her punching it, but this was all too easy that the snow that packed it’s leg was breaking apart. She quickly jumped onto the guy, punching into the leg once again. “Hope you had fun terrorizing the masses, but you’re done for!” She calls out before she went to punch at its face. The brute had swatted her away just in time, and the dragon slayer found herself laying on her back in the snow. It took her a moment, but she quickly was on her feet again after regaining herself, and lashed a chain out around the brutes neck before she launches herself at him and felt her fist connect with its face. She honestly didn’t want to have to do that… but now this thing was kind of pissing her off. He was probably as tall as Yuudai, maybe almost as strong as him, probably more between hers and Yuudai’s strength. She could best this guy though.

A grin came to her lips as she let her second chain go after the untouched leg, and then yanked on both chains from behind and made the brute fall on its face before she tugged again, intending to remove the snowman’s head and leg with the chains since the snow was packed together to keep the snowman together. The enchantment probably also didn’t help it one bit. It took some effort, but eventually the leg had popped off of the brute, then the head came after with the brute struggling on it’s stomach. It wasn’t easy for the thing to get up properly, or fast. Ada wrapped the chains around her arms, and stood there with a smirk on her lips. “That trash is done.” She commented and stretched some.

The dragon slayer glared at her husbands smirk to her outfit, and just frowned. “Yeah, I can look good in it all the world wants. I still hate it. And we’ll be down a cat when we get home.” She smiles wryly. Though, her smile softened at his suggestion to go home and spend time with the kids. She nodded to that, liking quite a lot. “Sounds like a plan.” She sipped at her drink as she was happy with that suggestion, even when he suggested getting presents and go home.

When Ada had gone to deal with the snowman, she heard Yuudai dealing with something else on his own. Of course she heard the fight going on and the howl. Who could have missed the werewolf yelling about killing something for touching his tails? A snort escaped her lips as she shook her head. She knew better, but then again she didn’t fully grab his tail ever. As soon as the snowman was down, she looked over to Yuudai and snorted. “It was an enchanted snowman… very packed together.” She tells him as she shook her head. "At least I wasn’t messy about it and can clean myself up.” She teased. She grabbed her refilling horned flask, that Kyran had gifted her ages ago, off her hip and tossed it to him after she took a quick sip of it and capped it again. It had one of the alcohol’s he had given her before. “I figured the blood wasn’t yours. I could hear quite clearly.” She pointed to her ears and rolled her eyes with a snort.

“I’ll take you up on that offer, but first, let me win a prize so we can get the kids something like you suggested.” She noticed the people slowly coming back. They weren’t sure if the coast was clear or not. Ada snorts as she walked over to where an ice sculpting area was, and looked to the board that told the time for when the next game was to start. Due to the Yeti and the snowman, people were scared off. It took a bit, but eventually people started to come back to the area again. When people did, she signed herself up for the thing. One of the prizes for completing the game was a stuffed animal that was fairly big, and Ada wanted it for the babies. It was actually a good quality looking one too.

She stood by the ice block she was given, and then down at the tools. They seemed like they could work. Now she just needed to decide what she should sculpt. ‘A dragon, duh. Sculpt me.’ ‘I’m not a master at ice sculpting. Never even done it before. How hard could it be?’ ‘Really…? You’re not winning anything.’ Veles was snorting at her in her mind, and she shook her head as she picked up a tool and started chiseling away after noticing how others were going at it. She didn’t pay any attention to others works, just her own. She was actually working on making a dragon, taking Veles’ suggestion. As she worked the ice block, she had a basic shape actually going. The thing looked rather good for her first try, but it wasn’t something to write home about regardless.

As she started attempting to put more detail in the dragon sculpture, the tail broke off. She looked at the broken tail and then at the rest of the dragon. It still wasn’t finished. ‘Good going. You’re losing.’ She ignored her dragon and took a bigger chisel and ended up chopping the whole back half before she starting working elsewhere. ‘Help me out stupid dragon. Lets make a head of a dragon with this.’ Veles started to take over, the only way one could tell was with her irises and pupils changing to that of a dragon. He had taken over her body completely and was working on making a face he knew rather well. It still wasn’t pretty, as neither of them were actually good at sculpting, but it didn’t matter to the dragon as he worked. He knew how to fix it now that Ada had some issues and posed a different solution. A crowd started to form to watch the ice sculptures. Some were taking pictures, others were making comments, and there were the quiet ones, watching with anticipation as they viewed the spectacle.

It took some time, but Veles helped make a dragon head. One that others could tell was one as well. It had some details to the ice block, but even with the lack of details, others were complimenting the abstractness of the piece. If others wanted to call the dragon head abstract, that was on them. Veles wasn’t trying for that though. He just finished it, that was all. As soon as he was done, he let Ada take over again, and she leaned on the table while holding her head and trying to get rid of her headache. ‘Thanks…’ She grumbled to the dragon, who was snickering in her mind. “I’m done.” She calls out to the host who was observing another person's finished work. As soon as he saw the dragon head, he clapped to her. “Good job! Here! Three tokens, and you can also get a prize.” He motioned over to the other prizes, and Ada was glad to see that the one she wanted for the triplets was still there.

After grabbing her prize, and holding onto the three extra ice tokens, Ada went back to Yuudai and smiled softly to him. The prize was a big plush dog that all three of the babies could lay on with no issue. “I’m ready to go home now.” She mused to her husband. She held up the three tokens, and snorts. “Now we got six tokens. I heard that if we have five we can get a special token each… wanna see what it is?” She was honestly curious about the special token, and reached into her husbands pocket after handing him the plush and went to go and see someone at a little booth that had ‘Tokens’ across the top of the sign. When she came back, she had another Ice Token. “So… the sign said that this token gives good luck.” She shrugs her shoulders again and ran a hand through her hair. Now she was ready to go home finally.
