As of quite recently, things had been looking up for Solmar and Fellis, what with how he had managed to unlock the secrets behind the vanishing sword and got access to the greater levels of magic he possessed, though that was not nearly all. He quite recently came from a festival that had been hosted in his honor as he had been the one responsible for something horrible that had been taking place for over fifty years and claimed many a young soul. Having singlehandedly taken down an overgrown Yeti outcast and a deluded Wraith, he had stopped them from snatching any more children and sacrificing their souls to some dark god that might not even have been a real thing to begin with. Thanks to an old hunter that had given him some pointers on how to hunt the pair, he had come to know that this Wraith had been deluded ever since she died as a mortal woman and rose up from the dead, meaning this god might have been something she dreamt up.
While it had been hard for him to parade around as a hero when truly he was nothing more than a wanderer with a strong set of morals to back him up, he figured that the people of that village needed a living figure to rely on, especially after more than a hundred kids had been killed and only three had been saved. Though most of the children had been murdered before Solmar had even been born, part of him still felt responsible for all of the deaths. Had he gotten there sooner, he might have done more, though he had never been aware of the things that were happening there. Not considering this to be a viable excuse, he had left the mountain village after the festivities in order to head towards another village entirely. Having the Beanstalk village in mind, he knew that some of the people might still not really enjoy seeing him there after what had happened there about a month ago. While it wasn't really anything he could do anything about, he understood part of why they felt that way.
Considering how they tasked him with hunting down a certain creature that had attacked people along the main road from the village to Cedar and Hosenka, it was an important route for traders who were hoping to sell their produce on the bigger markets. Getting snagged by some creature as they were on their way, Solmar had been the one to kill the creature that had done so and found all of the bodies of the people that had disappeared. Because the people did not want to hear the fact that their loved ones were not coming back, a lot of them harassed him when he came bearing the ill news. Luckily, there had been plenty who were just glad to know that the killer had been put down and their loved ones could now be reclaimed and buried so all of them could be put to rest. This however had more or less become a theme with Solmar and the jobs he took. He put in his entire soul just to try and see things through to the end, only for him to come back and get scolded for bringing with him the news people already knew to expect, but did not wish to hear.
So, as he wandered in to check up on the Beanstalk village to see how they were doing now, he could smell the scent of burning wood from afar. Picking up the pace as he barged into the place, the young, black haired mage that had most of his body covered up by a thick fur coat stopped a woman as she was moving into the other direction. When he asked what was going on, she told him that there was some kind of creature actively destroying and burning things, which would not be that hard in a village made mostly of tents. Hoping the creature hadn't started burning down the large beanstalk located in the center of town, he made his move towards where he could smell the smoke coming from, keeping his enhanced hearing at the ready in case he heard anything out of the ordinary. If the woman were right and there was something working hard to destroy the place, he would not hesitate to summon forth his sword and kill it on the spot. Since he would be doing the people a favor with this one, he wouldn't even go as far as to ask payment for dealing with it.
