    The sound of seagulls overhead made the girl's eyebrows flutter. Was...it morning? The last thing Serene could remember, she had been outside that damn tower fighting those dark mages while Heero rescued Gar...


    HEERO! GARFIELD!


    Serene's eyes shot open suddenly. The light from the window over her stung her eyes, which made them water, but she looked around quickly. She was...in a hospital room? The girl scanned her surroundings once again, more thoroughly. She was in a hospital bed in a hospital room, to be more specific. Where was Heero? Where was Garfield? 


    Serene sat up cautiously. Thankfully, nothing really hurt. She..she had used -that- spell. Memories filled the girl's mind once more as she ran a hand through her hair. Where were those two? She would have to find them. Serene threw her blanket to the side of the bed. She was clad in a patient smock. Serene cringed, not wanting to know how horrible this thing probably made her look. She turned herself towards the floor and leaned forward to get out of the bed. When she tried to stand, she wobbled harshly, but she righted herself as her hair fell beside her. 


    "J-Jeez, how weak am I?", she said with a chuckle. She looked around once more and noticed the clothes folded neatly on the chair by the window. Who could have put those there, she wondered as she picked them up. It was a plain white T-shirt and a pair of tight dark jeans. Did someone raid her closet? 


    After slipping the clothes on, Serene found a pair of black flip-flops and pulled them on before she walked over to the bathroom where she examined herself. She looked fine, like nothing had even happened to her. What was going on here?! The girl still felt odd as she left the bathroom and looked at her bed. So messy... She couldn't leave it like that. After she made the bed, Serene slipped out of the room and into the hallway. There was no one here... In the middle of the day?! Serene still didn't understand what was going on as she began to make her way down the hallway, a large bank of windows coming up on her right. As Serene walked by, she stopped. She could see the beach clearly from where she was. The entirety of it was swamped with people. She could make out the flashes of cameras going off all over the place. It was like some huge celebrity was out there for the whole island to gawk at! Who could possibly cause that much hysteria??


    Serene sighed as she realized who.


    Heero Reyold sure could.

    "We're sorry Mr. Reyold, we CAN'T let you in right now; not with a crowd this size."


    "Maybe you can come back WITHOUT the crowd? We'd be more than happy to let you in; but we can't have a paparrazi storm following you throughout the hospital; some patients need their peace and quiet."


    Heero; had Garfield sitting on his head, per usual, and was dressed in a pristine suit and tuxedo with a rose brooch in it as he usually was some days. He adjusted his tie; as cameras clicked and flashed all around him. 


    Garfield's tail wiggled once as the camera flashes continued. 


    "I don't give a damn about protocol, let me through!" Heero barked at the two doctors blocking the path into the hospital. 


    "You know we can't do that." one of the doctors said in a serious tone of voice; clicking something on his walke talkee. Within a few moments about ten Rune Knights stepped outside of the hospital. The cameramen and paparazzi immediately stopped flashing their cameras, and backed off a bit. 


    Only to begin flashing and clicking again as they were at a safe distance; Heero however, persisted. One of the Rune Knights recognized him immediately. 


    "Make another move towards this door, Heero, and I'm blasting you from here back to Magnolia." he stepped forwards with a "ahoo", as did the 9 other Rune Knights, creating a thundering stance with another chorus of "ahoo's", pointing their blast staffs at Heero who wondered for a moment if they were serious. 


    "Look, I'm not here to cause trouble my woman is in---" as soon as he stepped forward a Rune Knight let a shot ring out from his blast staff; whaaapiiing right into Heero's stomach. He keeled over instantly, falling to one knee. 


    "Heero!" Garfield jumped off his head onto the ground and walked up to him, putting a paw on his head. 


    "I....don't want to hurt you guys. Please just let me through." 


    'whaaaapiiiing' anothe Rune Knight shot while he was kneeled, sending him rolling back into the sand. He however, refused to fight back; he and Fairy Tail were already in deep enough shit with the Magic Council. 


    "Stop it!" Garfield sprawled his arms out in front of Heero, standing between him and the Rune Knights. "You guys are wimps! How long do you think those sticks would save you if Heero decided he was gonna hit you back!" 


    The Rune Knights looked baffled, and insulted. One of them whispered something to another; who looked at Heero on the ground, concerned. Apparently one of them knew how powerful he really was. Hastily, they snapped to attention; guarding the door. 


    "I'm sorry about that Mr. Reyold, but I simply cannot allow you into the Hospital with this gigantic array of camera crews behind you...." one of the doctors stated plainly as Heero picked himself up from the sand slowly, Garfield floating up to his shoulder and sitting on it. 


    "You OK?" he asked once, genuinely, sitting with his feet dangling over his shoulder. 


    "Y-yeah, of course!" Heero smiled, unconvincingly, sand covering him now. Garfield had a wide eyed expression; as if he was waiting for him to say, 'not really' but it never came. The orange cat held up both paws at his side and shrugged as Heero stood back to his full height.

    They never knew what hit them.

    Serene had come to the entrance doors to the hospital just in time to see the Rune Knights attack Heero. Her eyes widened for a moment, her heart almost skipping a beat at the sight before her. As she saw him fall to his knees, one of his fakest smiles on, her shock changed into something dark and fearsome.

    Fury.

    She looked dazzling even in her simple attire as a flurry-like aura emerged from her body. Her hair began to float around ever so gently as she rose her right hand towards the ten Knights blocking the door. A translucent magic circle bloomed from her palm as ten tendril-like forcefields whipped out from the circle and zipped over to the Knights. Each of them dropped their staffs in surprise and horror as they felt a tendril wrap around their necks and lift them up off the ground. With a flick of her hand, five Rune Knights smashed into the wall on either side of the entrance. This side of Serene was strange. It was one Heero and Garfield had never seen of her before. It was like the gentle and funny girl they knew had died, and this violent and ruthless woman was all that remained. A forcefield emerged from the ground underneath Heero, lifting him into the air slightly. Serene gestured behind herself with her left hand, and the force-disk responded by moving Heero quickly behind her towards the nurses' desk. One of the three nurses that had been watching this whole time saw Heero covering himself and rushed towards him to tend to him.

    Serene dropped her right hand and the tendrils disappeared, dropping the Knights to the floor as they gasped for air. The girl's hair was covering her eyes as she stood their, her hands balled up into fists, her body shaking violently. "He...didn't do a thing...to you...", she said harshly. The Rune Knights got to their feet quickly, their staffs in hand as they all pointed their weapons at Serene. "Identify yourself! Two of you go over there and arrest Mr. Reyold!", the Rune Knight in charge barked. As he ordered, two Rune Knights broke off to go to Heero, but as soon as they took a step forward, a solid forcefield erected itself behind her and blocked their path. "Dammit all! Open fire!", he ordered again, but the doctor that had called them stepped in before they could shoot. "Wait, please! Ms. D'loro, stop this! You must stop!", he said to both parties.

    "D'loro? You mean...like Commander D'loro? Are you the Commander's daughter?!", the head Knight asked Serene. "Don't you dare speak my father's name! He's nothing like you all! He'd never attack an unarmed man in a crowd of people! Is that what the Rune Knights are now!? Petty thugs!?", the girl ruthlessly spat at them as forcefield energy amassed at her hands. "Captain, she's right. We are in the wrong here", the Knight to the Captain's left said calmly. The Captain have him a unbelievable look for a moment before he looked around him. The crowd of people and cameras outside reflected Serene's emotions. A situation like this would only hurt the Rune Knights' standing at this point.

    With a sigh, the man ordered his men to go back to the base, wherever that was. The Captain bowed and apologized to Heero and Serene before leaving, a surge of boos coming from the crowd outside. When thy were gone, Serene dropped her field and fell to her knees, breathing rather hard. The doctor rushed over to her and put his hands on her shoulders to support her. "You haven't fully recovered yet, Ms. D'loro. Come now, you need to rest. Bring Mr. Reyold to her room as well", he said gently to a nurse next to him.

    Ten minutes later, Serene was lying in bed, her eyes firmly fixated on the ceiling as a nurse tended to Heero.
