Getting An iLac Empty Getting An iLac

“Arewoof…” Said the large dog nervously as it pawed the ground beside his master. Haven didn’t really know why they were there but he really wanted to leave. The musky smell of this large city was bothering his nose, and worse of all he couldn’t use his magic. How could he protect his master without his magic?!

“It’s ok, I know this place is nasty Have, but were only here for a few more hours. The we can leave.” Odette soothed her companion the best she could, kneeling below him to scratch at his fluffy white chin. Oddie liked being in the Neutral Ground as much as any other mage, which is usually not happy at all seeing as their top skill and form of defense, their magic, is shut off in the area. But she got a great lead that they were giving out free iLacs to mages here! The source was reliable enough that she didn’t think it was an attempt to kidnap mages where they were most vulnerable, but she brought her pet and sword along just to be safe. Turns out it wasn’t needed as the place to get the iLacs was very public and obvious. You just needed to show proof you were a mage and bam, free iLac. Odette hadn’t joined a guild by this point so she simply had her official government docs proving she was a mage along with her.

But the line was long, and the muggy hair was humid, making Odette’s hair frizz. Haven was in worse shape, body being full of thick fur and all. Panting wasn’t helping at all either. The wolf groaned pathetically as the line nudged forward bit by bit, causing some people to look at the duo with wariness or amusement. “Why is it so hooooot? Stupid city and it’s stupid magicless rules and it’s stupid pollution and humidity.” Odette groaned, causing locals around her to glare at this impudent little girl. Odette decided to wisely shut up, easily reading their thoughts from their body language.

“Next please!” A voice yelled over an hour of torture later. It was finally their turn. Bouncing up to the teller excitedly Odette announced “One iLac please!” and began to fish out her documentation. “Young lady, you need your parent’s permission to buy an iLac.” The man chuckled nervously. “Surely you can’t buy it alone.”

Odette scowled deeply at the man, reading the condescending thoughts from his face and tone. Haven’ growled lightly at his master’s reaction, but stopped when she put a gentle hand on his muzzle. The last thing she needed was to start a fight with some civilian in a place she didn’t have any power. Smiling sweetly at the older gentlemen Odette slammed her documents unceremoniously into the counter top. “That would be true… if I wasn’t an independent, self-reliant mage who get’s a free iLac, as my documents prove.” With that being said the man looked over the papers with wide eyes. He couldn’t believe that this little girl was a mage.

Still smiling sweetly Odette grabbed her docs and one of the iLac’s, then mounted Haven who quickly trotted away. “Stupid adults… let’s get out of this city asap Have.” Odette muttered, causing Haven to let out a woof of agreement.
