Re: Monday Loop ; job
A frail old woman stood in front of a small cottage on the route that Fair was jogging along, standing weakly as she battled against the strong winds that blew all her hair back eastwards. It was very early in the morning, so Fair was out for her daily morning run. The sky was dark, and she could tell that it was going to rain in about an hour or so, but she was safe until then. The old woman said something to her, but it was so windy she couldn’t make out a single thing the poor little grandma said. She jogged towards her and stopped, taking long breaths since she was tired from jogging. “Yes ma’am?” she asked. A few strands of her own silvery hair flew straight into her mouth, causing her to cough it out. Only from this distance, she could hear what the old lady wanted to say to her.
“Hello dear,” she began in a shaky voice. “I was wondering if you could do me a favor? My son has gone out of the country as he is a merchant leaving me here all alone, so could you do some things that he would normally do for me if he was here? I will pay you for the trouble, don’t worry about it,” was her request.
Fair took a moment to consider this. She was in the middle of a run, a thin layer of sweat on her body caused her skin to gleam faintly. She looked really helpless...and weak. She couldn’t help after seeing the look on the old woman’s face. “Alright ma’am. What do you need me to do? I’ll decide if I can help you or not,” she said. The old lady nodded. Apparently she had a little list written down. Probably a list of chores for her son who was currently absent to attend to them. Fair stifled a chuckle with a cough. The thought made her want to laugh, but it was inappropriate to do so.
Once the old lady was done reciting the items off the list, she handed it to Fair, probably to look back at as a guide or something. She took the paper and read the list over again. All the tasks were pretty easy. With a nod, she said, “I will help you out, and bring the stuff you need back here, right?” The old lady nodded in response and told her she would pay her when she returned. “You don’t have to pay me for it, actually,” said Fair. Even though the idea of getting money was very nice, she couldn’t take money from a poor little old grandma who was all alone and in need of help.
Fair finished her run, completing her daily goal just before it started to drizzle. She was already in the shower at this point, washing off the sweat and dirt gathered on her body during her morning run. After the shower, she made herself breakfast.
