Post by Cassiopeia 30th June 2019, 10:43 pm

    Arrival Theme:
An ominous wave moved across the warm waters of the otherwise calm seas, sending flocks of seagulls squawking as they took to the skies to escape the looming sense of danger before them. A huge black figure moved beneath the waves, longer than a galleon, larger than a blue whale. Vaguely humanoid in appearance, with a tail twice the length of its body propelling it swiftly through the waters. Shimmering orange eyes glowing beneath surface, a molten gaze cast forward towards the creature's ultimate destination.

Rows of dorsal fins stuck up beneath the waves, shaped like maple leaves and glowing with a luminous blue light. They cut a swath through the waters kicking up a steep wake behind them. Dolphins chased along, playfully riding in the creature's wake and breaching the waters as they jumped over the titan's fins like some child's game. The creature cared little for the porpoises and their games, her destination lay before her and she had been swimming for the better part of the day. There was little that could stop her now. The sandy beaches of Amber Island loomed in the distance, growing ever closer with every stroke of her massive tail.

Within the hour, the titan of the depths had arrived at her destination. As the waters grew more shallow, the creature ceased to swim and instead moved onto its hind legs. Cassiopeia Gojira rose from the depths like a goddess of the seas. Arms folded crossed beneath her massive bust, long mane of black hair falling down across her back as they walked the final earthshaking steps to the shores. The sand buckled beneath her heavy footsteps, leaving great craters for the crams and clams to scurry into for shelter. When she finally reached the sandy shores, the titanic woman took a good look across the surrounding landscape, surveying it while she still had the advantage of height on her side.

With the flick of her wrist, and a faint glow from her spines, the Kaijin dispelled her Giant Magic and began to return to her normal, albeit still towering size. Standing just over seven feet tall, several inches more in her black heels, the self proclaimed Queen of the Monsters still nonetheless towered over most 'normal' humans. A native of Kaijū-jima, the eponymous "Monster Island", she had journeyed by sea since the early hours of the morning to be here. Cassiopeia had heard tales of the guild that called this island home, a militant order that demanded power above all else. Admirable goals, ones she too craved within her burning heart. The woman aspired to grander heights than her relatively small island could provide her. The kind of ambition that a quiet life, a comfortable life among her own clan would never offer her.

No, what Cassiopeia craved was fame, wealth, and above all else, power. She yearned for a grandiose life worthy of the history books, proving herself as a magic wielder with few peers, and honing her skills until none could hope to best her in battle. Lofty goals indeed, but even the greatest dragon began life as the smallest egg. Her story had to begin somewhere, she only needed write it one page at a time. And that had brought her to Amber Island, home of Dies Irae, the guild she aspired to call her new home. What she had heard of the militant brotherhood that claimed the paradise isle as their home, she liked. Now all that remained was to see if the truth matched the stories.

What Cassiopeia had seen as she shrunk down to normal size confirmed her location. Port Amber lay to the south, its buildings and spires jutting up above the tropical canopies. There lay the Guild Hall, and the people she sought. The woman looked down at her outfit, her dress was soaked with salt water and her hair was a damp clumping mess. She scoffed, clenching her fists as she felt the super-heated energy of her magics flow through her. Cassiopeia was enveloped in a shimmering blue light, her dorsal ridges radiating in their glow as heat flooded through her. In a moment the spell dissipated, the moisture evaporating from her body in a plume of steam. The sand beneath her feet smelted into glass beneath her heels. She just smiled, running a hand through her silky hair and tossing back her locks.

"Alright then." The Kaijin woman muttered to herself as she leisurely began to walk along the beach. Her heavy tail sashaying behind her with every step. "Let's go see if Dies Irae is all that the sailors and the merchants say it is cracked up to be..." With that that said, the last of her journey had begun. The towering mage made her way the remaining distance to the lively port, Port Amber's docks teaming with ships both for fishing and trade. Cassiopeia held a natural dislike of large human settlements, and even the bustling port was beginning to make the hair on the back of her neck stand on end. She was used to it, cities were an unavoidable part of Earth Land. Further east lay massive cities, so large it was said you couldn't cross them in a day. She n early spat at the thought of such a suffocating place.

Everywhere she went, Cassiopeia could feel the burning sets of eyes cast their gaze on her back. She knew well what thoughts crept through their minds. "Monster, Mutant, Abomination." Her race towered over humans, possessing ferocious strength and a fiendish capacity for destruction. They were right to fear her, Kaijin were notorious raiders and pirates, sinking vessels without a second thought and leaving whole ports a smoldering ruin. Though in recent years their aggression had been stemmed, as they turned more towards infighting and petty struggles for power and glory.  Cassiopeia was used to the stares, the worried glances, the women keeping their children at arm's length. Be it her size, or her dorsal fins, or the massive tail that swung behind her like a battering ram, she stuck out easily in a group.

Cassiopeia was undeterred, she had come to Amber Island with one singular purpose, and that purpose now lay before her. Ahead, at the end of block lay the looming Guild Hall of Dies Irae in all its splendor. Bedecked in banners of crimson and gold, the mighty structure sat like a palace at the heart of the port. It seemed more the seat of kings than the halls of a brotherhood of mages, but so be it. As she stepped into the building, even she felt small beneath the grand archway. Beyond lay the throne room, and there would reside the people she needed seek. As Cassiopeia entered the throne room proper she stopped, standing at its center with her fiery gaze locked forward.

The Kaijin's tail slammed down on the ground hard, hard enough to send a thunderous noise through the halls but not so hard as to damage the granite beneath it. First impressions after all, transcended cultures and creeds. She did not wish to be seen as a brute, smashing things simply for the sake of smashing them. Cassiopeia placed one slender hand on a wide childbearing hip, the other grabbed at the petticoats of her dress as she dipped her head to curtsy before her audience. "I am Cassiopeia Gojira, of the Monster Island itself, Kaijū-jima. I have traveled far to seek an audience with the Guildmaster of Dies Irae. I've heard stories from sailors from across the four winds of a proud guild that claims dominion of this isle. A militant order that prides itself on strength, determination, and achieving one's goals by any means necessary. A brotherhood that believes in the delicate harmony of mankind and nature, who seek to destroy those who profane on the natural order."

She paused, clearing her throat as determination flashed in her eyes. "I seek to join your guild, if you are indeed all that I've heard you claim to be. I will make a more than worthy addition, and will stake my honor on whatever trials or challenges lay before me to earn my place among your ranks." With her part said, Cassiopeia lowered her gaze, her tail falling softly to rest on the ground as she dropped to a knee. Awaiting the judgement of those she wished to serve in arms. The self proclaimed Queen of the Monsters had arrived.

    'Commander Amalie West.'

She had to admit, it had a rather nice ring to it. It had always been the Articulation Mage's aspiration to rise up the ranks of any position she had, to get as high as she could until she was eventually sat at the top. Aside from growing powerful enough to defeat Charles, she had dreamed of success since her decision to become a Guild Mager. However, in spite of this, her goals had become somewhat skewed after joining Dies Irae. What with the complicated goings on between herself and Anima, the Fifth Seal of the Apocalypse, not to mention the intimate relationship she had developed between herself and her would-be guild master. She had expected her progression to be stunted if anything, however, it seemed that this was not the case. It seemed that Sivvy and Johann had decided to entrust her with a position of power regardless. She had barely been an Officer for more than a moment before she was promoted to Commander, a role she had gladly accepted.

At present, she was handling things at the Guild as Johann and Sivvy were both away on missions at present. As a result, she was dealing with paperwork and the like. It was kind of mundane; paperwork. But it wasn't as though she struggled, adapting to her new duties had been easy enough, mainly because she had always been advanced during her school years. Her grades had always been good, and she picked up things easily. Often the teachers had commented things like "A promising mind, but a terrible attitude." or "Excellent focus academically, Social skills severely lacking". Something about her inability to tolerate crap from anyone, student or teacher, didn't sit well with the faculty at the school. But those days were long behind her, and it wasn't like she wasn't used to this type of work. Back during her time with Wyatt, they sometimes made her balance the books, ensure the numbers were right and report in any missing assets or discrepancies. Which had more often and not, lead to a few severed fingers on their employees part.

She leaned back in her office chair, stretching idly as she admired it once more. It was quite lavish, stylized in the Modern design that she preferred. Because despite now living on an island, she was a born and bred city girl, so the carefully selected decor was a means of reminding her of her roots. Albeit a little nicer in layout than what she was used to. She would neatly set aside the work she'd done before pushing herself out of the leather seat. She had been stuck in here for a few hours now, stretching her legs and giving the guild a once over seemed like a good idea right now. She would move around her mahogany desk and make her way out of the room, locking the door swiftly behind her. She moved through the West Wing, her red heels tapping against the marble flooring as she strode through the guild. She was wearing her uniform today; an assortment of red and white fabrics with gold hems and buckles.

"Commander West!" A regular Soldier would approach her mid-stride, having barely gotten a few paces out of her office, panting heavily as he rushed to a halt before her. "A Giant creature has emerged from the ocean, it looks like a massive lizard woman of some sort." Amalie arched a brow, A lizard woman? She thought, unsure what to make of the information. "Has she attempted to attack or shown any signs of intended to?" She would ask in a sharp, direct tone. The guildmate shook his head. Amalie would contemplate this for a moment, she could only assume from this that the lizard woman was visiting the island for a different purpose, or intending to attack at a later point. Either way, it seemed most prudent for the newly-promoted Commander to address the visitor. "Very well, I shall see to it." Magic travelled up through Amalie's body, creeping up her throat, as she spoke again, her voice would reverberate off the walls of the West Wings.

"Translocation." As soon as the words left her lips, she would vanish. Disappearing into thin air, she would reappear moments later in the main Guild Hall. Where a crowd of mages had gathered, watching the approach of the guest. Amalie's ice-blue eyes found the visitor, she was by no mean giant creature as the other mage had said. Aside from the giant tail, for the most part she looked very human. With long dark hair and fiery orange eyes, her bodice sporting a rather regal looking dress. She could only deduce that she had shrunken herself in order to fit into the guild, the woman would whack her tail down hard against the floor, causing a rather load slamming noise to sound through the Guildhall. Amalie's eyes narrowed in speculation, as she awaited the woman's explanation. To her mild surprise, she would curtsy, introducing herself as Cassiopeia Gojira before explanation her intentions. Once she had finished talking, she even went so far as to kneel before them.

It was at this point that Amalie would move through the crowd, approaching with the kneeling woman with a confident stride. "Miss Gojira is it?" She would ask, before stopping a short distance from the woman,  "I am Amalie West, a commander here at Dies Irae. Unfortunately, our Guild Masters are both away on missions at present. However, should you wish to join our ranks, I can certainly handle the proceedings for you." She told the woman in an authoritative tone, turning around to face the onlookers. She would offer them a hard stare, which was enough for them to get the message. They would disperse quickly, returning to whatever work they were doing before this point. She turned back to look at Cassiopeia, "It's clear to say you have an understanding of our values, and you do understand that we eradicate any that are deemed evil by any means necessary, including executing them should it requires us to do so?"

Post by Cassiopeia 8th July 2019, 10:22 am

Cassiopeia eyed the growing throngs of soldiers and mages gathering in the guild hall with agitation. She was used to stares, but that didn't prevent them from getting on her nerves entirely. She tensed instinctively when a mysterious newcomer appeared out of thin air. A teleportation spell? She mused to herself, that kind of magic was difficult to learn and harder to master. Could the dapper looking blue haired woman that arrived before her be her be the Guild Master of Dies Irae? She could only hope. The woman moved with purpose through the crowds towards the Kaijin, she had about her the air of authority, that was much was certain.

When the stranger spoke, she introduced herself as Amalie West, Commander of Dies Irae. Much to Cassiopeia's chagrin she was neither Guild Master, nor were either of the Guild's leaders actually present. Her heart sank in her chest, though she tried not to show it. 'It would be just my luck...' Cassiopeia muttered to herself, having been assailed by seemingly another setback. However, her tail twitched in excitement when Amalie announced she herself had the authority to handle guild proceedings.

Cassiopeia rose to her feet, extending her hand to shake. A harsh glare from the Commander was already dispersing the crowds, another clear sign of her authority... and her ire. Cassiopeia was beginning to like her already. "A pleasure to make your acquaintance Commander West. Though... among my kind our last name designates clan, not family. Our society is structured differently than most." She spoke proudly, her grip notably strong in her handshake.

The Kaijin withdrew her handshake as they finished, one hand moving to her hip as the other found its way to her chin as she listened to the Commander speak, nodding along in acknowledgement. "I do. I have seen firsthand the handiwork of Dies Irae in my travels, your guild's methods can be brutal, but effective." She paused, thinking best how to word herself. "My kind are not so different. On Kaijū-jima criminals are dealt with harshly, to preserve law and order. Even petty theft is often met with the removal of fingers, or a hand. For more severe crimes, more heavy handed punishments are levied. And for those crimes punishable by death, the accused are given three options. The headsman's blade, fight for their freedom in the gladiator pits, or take their chances with the beasts of the jungle... the true monsters of Monster Island."

She paused, smirking as she let her words sink it. "Suffice to say, I am quite familiar with the concept of harsh crimes needing even harsher punishments. Peace and order are difficult to create, and easily destroyed. Evil must be eradicated, not only to set an example, but also to protect good." Cassiopeia held out her hand, holding in it a brilliant blue flame, which she promptly crushed as she clenched her hand into a fist. "I have no quarrel with purging the wicked, though I do not relish in it. Though I can appreciate that Dies Irae sees a truth of the world for what it is, that the ends often justify the means." As she spoke, Cassiopeia's eyes began to glow a brilliant crimson color. The ridges and fins along her back and tail glowed a vibrant bright blue, almost white hot and crackling with a electricity. She smirked, demonstrating her strange magics for a brief moment before dispelling the energy within her, exhaling a puff of smoke from her nostrils.

Post by Amalie 16th July 2019, 9:16 am

The so-called Lizard woman would rise following Amalie's approach, after hearing Amalie's explanation that the Guildmasters were not in the guild at present, she would offer a hand to the Articulation mage in greeting. Amalie reached out and shook it, offering the woman a relatively firm shake and listening as the visitor explained that surnames were more of a representation of clan as opposed to the actual name of the individual. Amalie nodded, "I see, Shall I refer to you as Cassiopeia then?" She would ask, it was quite a mouthful of a name, Amalie would have to make sure to remember it. Although she wasn't very good with names, more so with people who failed to impress her enough to remember. She had already forgotten the names of half of the people she'd worked with during her time at the West Fiore Trading Company.

Following her question, Cassiopeia quickly responded with confirmation of her understanding. She would go on to explain the laws of her homelands, which seemed parallel with the Guild's ideology. Amalie wasn't particularly perturbed by the information the woman offered her, having spent many years in an environment where severe punishments were the norm. Her expression remained stoic, her ice-blue eyes unwavering. So this girl was from an island of Monsters it seemed, that certainly explained her physiology. Amalie wasn't familiar with any monsters herself, aside from the ones she had killed in the line of duty; zombies, werewolves, demons and mutants. The majority of which had always been simplistic creatures, incapable of rational thought or communication. But of course, it was clear to see that Cassiopeia was vastly different from those types of creatures.

Amalie's eyes moved from the woman to her hand as she manifested the blue fire, watching as she held it there for a moment, before promptly extinguishing it within her fist. So it seemed the woman had control of fire as well as her own physical constitution. Undoubtedly, she would be physically advanced too, what with her monster based genetics. This one had the potential to be quite the Soldier. Her eyes would drag themselves back to her face, as she mentioned that she didn't relish in the execution of villains. This was another positive for the blue-haired woman; she herself felt similarly towards her duties. While she had adapted to the tasks she had to take on as a member of Dies Irae, killing for the sake of justice had not initially been in the woman's nature when she had joined the guild. Before then, she only killed for protection, and so the change had taken some getting used to. While she understood the need to be able to kill, Amalie could help but find the idea of enjoying such an act a true act of justice. She doubted she would be able to truly trust someone who took pleasure in ridding someone of their life.

The woman would once again display her magic power as parts of her would ripple with electricity. Another showing of her capabilities, it seemed that like Amalie, she was capable of manipulating more than one element; fire and electricity. The woman wondered just how many elements Cassiopeia could manipulate. It was certainly a flexible form of magic to have, less restrictive than the affinity for a single element. It provided the opportunity for more countermeasures, should you faced someone especially strong in a certain type of magic and reduced the weaknesses that others could attempt to take advantage of. Amalie nodded, have considered everything the woman had said and shown her, she saw no faults in her recruitment. "Very good." She remarked simply, her expression, which had thus far been quite stoic softened into a smirk. "Based on what I've seen and heard, I believe you would be an ideal fit for Dies Irae."

Magic stirred within the blue-haired woman's core, creeping up through her body, it would travel up her throat. As she spoke, her words would reverberate loudly throughout the guildhall as she cast the enchantment. "Empowerment." Her body would release a pulse of magic energy, normally this spell would be used to enhance her magic output before a battle in order to deal more damage. But she was also capable of manipulated it so that she could use more harmless magics, such as branding someone with a guild mark. "On behalf of Dies Irae, I accept your request to join our ranks," She raised her hand, her fingers glowing with pure magical energy, "Where would you like your guild mark?"
