    misty titania blooms meliora vitae

Resting within the crashing waves on the edge of the land that met the cloud sea while sitting upon the water's surface, the woman of the tides would sigh as she would look around at the assortment of aquatic animals encompassing her in a circle. They would appear to look just as concerned as they were upset, some even wiping off small manifestations of tears that would manifest on their bubbly optics above the surface- a few hundred miles out from the hidden kingdom of Azula was now the home of a haunting case of a shark exposed to extreme nuclear waste, allowing for terror to creep into both the underwater ecosystems and their residents. But Misty Titania's largest concern was the path the colossal creature had just recently expressed interest in taking after many attempts of seizure, being the grand passageway to the mega-kingdom cloaked in secrecy that she just so happened to be the champion of. It was all but exciting for the lavender-haired mistress; she was well aware of the status of the creature she was to seek out in hopes of containment, but upon hearing that it seemed to not even be truly alive in the slightest was something that caused her to worry. Would it be true that the shark could not be saved? It was hard for her not to think of just what was going on with the father of her children in that similar aspect- she wished for him that life could end up being less cruel than that in the end, but truly, she could only hope. However, just as she felt it was her responsibility to take charge in that otherworldly situation, she knew that it was her ultimate task of the moment to descend upon the shark's domain to quell the beast.

"If there is a way to heal تارو  I will do so, I promise," she would speak to a cluster of sea slugs grouped together on the head of a seal, " and I will look for all of the waste as soon as I can find a solution to what I am about to face."

Lowering her hand to graze the surface of the water she sat upon, the woman's eyes would sit on the rising sun upon the horizon- truthfully it was quite close to eleven in the morning, though once the sun rose to the equivalent of hitting twelve, she would set off on the adventure. Awaiting the arrival of one of her newest acquaintances, the guildmaster of the guild she had recently allowed's sigil to grace just below the silky lapis lazuli colored choker on her neck, she had reached out to him through a letter about a day prior about a potential urgent issue regarding the beast at the bottom of the sea. Though it would not have been likely impossible for Misty to have defeated on her own, her own personal objective was to finally show the master of her guild the hidden underwater kingdom that resided off Fiore's coast. It would be a way of showing him a whole new world that he may not have been aware of in its entirety- and it would organically let her gain more knowledge about the guild she joined a week prior, or at least, she hoped it would. The journey to the great passageway's entrance would take about for hours from the Fiorean coast if they were lucky, not accounting for the constant changes the ocean would undergo over time and the stop at Azula that Misty wished for. This would allow her to potentially make her first friend in the guild- that feeling was rather funny for her to think about, along with finally joining a guild after her youngest daughter's enthusiasm. It made her feel like she did when she was a young mage dabbling in oceanic magic, studying abroad in Seven- that nostalgia was a lot.

Her sky blue optics would continue to focus on the swirling assortment of all kinds of aquatic life that would circle around her, all anticipating the champion's arrival on the coastline and departure on the journey- now all she was waiting for was the potential arrival of Rhace, assuming he was not occupied with much more important matters regarding Meliora Vitae.

    Rhace Tarrin
    Hidden Kingdom Azula

Everyone who knew Rhace knew three facts about him, which were immutable forces of nature: he was the Captain of the guild, he was a swordsman by trade, and he was completely and utterly non-magical. His answers to problems were, without question, either apply sword or physical force to the issue until such time as it stopped being an issue, or find a piece of technology kindly provided to him by Meliora Vitae itself and use that to fix whatever problem was in front of him. Realistically, he knew that hyper-advanced technology such as Pergrandian equipment and magic could potentially be indistinguishable from one another when their applications were done correctly and the level of advancement was sufficient to fool an onlooker, but the fact remained that this was his only method of keeping up with batches of high-level mages in a world where magic was one of the dominant forces - or, if you weren't magical, you were probably Pergrandian. Therefore, Rhace took solace in the fact that he could keep up. On an adventure like the one he'd just agreed to, a technological solution was required for the problem that humans had yet to find a way to naturally breathe underwater.

True to form, Rhace tended to take at least one mission with every new recruit to the guild. It was a way of getting to know them and their abilities and potentially find insight as to how well they'd work as members; this way, he knew where their abilities would be most beneficial and he could ensure that they were a good fit for Meliora Vitae. This was probably the best way he knew how to move forward, as a man of action. Most of his paperwork was done for now, anyway, so he could certainly afford to take the time and go gallivanting off undertaking quests with the troops. It was a good lifestyle change, and allowed him to get some surface time doing something other than being the face of a guild. This particular mission was being undertaken at the behest of one Misty Blooms. The surname was incredibly familiar, like he was supposed to know it-- and if Rhace paid attention to his fellow guildmasters, he'd know the answer, the actual idiot he was-- but he paid that no particular mind when he signed up for it. Such being the case, he co-opted a guild shuttle and took it from the surface of the great mechanical star whale Endeavor and piloted it himself to the coordinates that he had been given to meet with Misty.

The first thing Misty would see in the sky would be the sleek shape of a black airship, small enough to carry a pilot and two passenders, then the thudding sound of its engines as it approached and whipped its tail around as it descended like an insect down towards the beach, taking rest on a nearby grassy sand dune instead of close to her - one part so that there was some structural integrity under the weight of the airship so it didn't sink under the millions of granules, and one part so she didn't get caught in the engine's backwash as it took off or landed. Moments later, Rhace unbuckled himself from the craft and took his exit from the rear access hatch. He stood there for a moment, saw the sapphire-haired woman, and knew that this was exactly the place he needed to be. By contrast, there he was - not quite tall, but certainly muscular from years of intense training-- more intense now that he was part of the guild, that was for sure-- in contrast this petite and very leggy woman who seemed to almost be his physical diametric polar opposite. The only indication that he was even remotely prepared for this operation was the belt wrapped around his waist, consisting of a number of small white boxes that were likely filled with some sort of mysterious objects.

"Sorry to keep you waiting, Misty," Rhace said by way of introduction, striding across the sands in his boots-- and getting caught up in them as always-- and making his way over to her. "It's nice to finally make your acquaintance in person. Rhace Tarrin - a pleasure." There was no hiding his clipped Ca-Elian accent; he didn't make efforts to hide it, and it made him sound a little more distinguished than the average person, anyway. Truthfully, it was just nice to be here.

Taking her gaze from the encompassing sea creatures that would circle around the surface and shifting it toward an approaching sound in the skies, Misty would soon notice that it would be coming from an approaching shuttle that she had felt she got the chance to get a glimpse at on the S.S. Endeavor- she would put two and two together quickly to realize that inside would most definitely be her guildmaster, causing her to arise from her rest on the surface and stand upon it as if it were an ordinary thing to do, additionally raising her handbag to sit more firmly on her shoulder. It was the first time she was meeting Rhace in person. As she was asking so much of him in terms of assistance, she felt as if she had to make a rather sophisticated first impression- this idea was organically produced within her mind instead of deliberately, a side effect of once meeting thousands of acquaintances she had throughout the universe for the first time in the past. Listening to him making an introduction of his own, she could not help but notice his accent from the country just west of where the two found themselves on the coast but would wait to point out her recognition, gracefully walking on the surface to meet him by the edge of the lands.

"Oh, I wouldn't consider visiting the great oceania waiting but thank you for arriving timely. I really appreciate your response to my request," she would warmly take a bow, allowing for the silky sleeves of her swimsuit to flutter in the seaside winds, "..and it is nice to meet you in person as well, Guildmaster, my name is Misty Blooms- the champion of Azula."

Rising from her bow and uncrossing her legs, if one were to look down at her standing on the shallow surface near the edge, she would seem to have a pair of sea slugs now trailing up her leg in hopes to make it onto each of her shoulders- she would look out toward to the sea once she would finish her introduction, peering into the seemingly endless expanse of blue that would stretch upon the horizon. It was not common to invite outsiders into the vast knowledge of the underwater kingdom; if anything it was forbidden, though due to her title and her ties with the grand heiress of the tidal bell, it was allowed for her to do such things. And as such, despite not including any detail regarding even the slightest bit of a hint of anything to do with Azula's existence in her letter of request, she would have to go upon the grand schpeal of it all with Rhace. Hopefully, it would not be too much for Misty's new acquaintance to take in within such a short frame of time- but she knew her limits with her blessings of the sea and its plentiful magic, and due to the direness of the situation, she knew it was necessary.

"Azula, in short, is a kingdom shrouded in secrecy, upholding a millennium-long tradition to keep its name out of those that traverse the lands of Earthland," she would begin to speak to Rhace in a stern yet warm tone of voice, turning to face him once more, "it is a grand kingdom that sits at the bottom of the ocean, and blessed by the tidal bell, has the ability to cast a veil around it that makes it appear invisible to those that do not know its name. The shark I told you about in my letter- it's currently under debate if he is still holding onto life or not, but one thing is certain, and that is that he's headed straight toward the grand kingdom's northern gate. This could endanger the lives of thousands that call the depths their home, and as their champion, I will not tolerate such misfortune. But anyways,"

Reaching into her Louis Vuitton handbag, which would dangle at her side by a silver chain threaded with lustrous cerulean and violet ribbons, she would pull out two twin seashells- they would appear to look just like conches, though extremely tiny and lavender in color, and would hold them within her palm.

"I apologize for being so forward with the terms and conditions of the underwater kingdom, I hope you'll forgive me, guildmaster," Misty would look down at the twin seashells in her palm and would clasp her grip on them as she would speak, looking him directly in the eyes, "..you must not speak of Azula to anyone, or even the idea of its existence, without permission from the heiress of the tidal bell, Adelaide, of the House Depthwalker. She will be awaiting our arrival at the northern gate."

It had been years since she had told anyone of the existence of Azula, and for some reason, a  certain feeling of anxiety would creep into her chest when she would do so- she felt as though it wasn't her right to do such a thing, even if the situation called for it and she had the permission to do so. But now it was different. Rhace was the fourth she had ever informed of the underwater palace, resting within its brilliant veil- all she had ever told were her three daughters, and even then, she felt as if it was not okay. Though she had fully embraced her role under the sea, she still didn't even understand why they would let an outsider like her take on such responsibility- but she didn't hesitate to take it and act on it, despite how strange it felt to her.

"But outside of the verbal paperwork, I'm very excited to be working with you, and hopefully, getting to know you," Misty would smile, turning to once again look out at the sea as she would speak, "the ride to the kingdom will take an hour or two, depending on just what we may encounter as we get deeper- I will summon two heroic fauna of the great oceania to bring us there, and I hope you don't mind the company, as all of these little guys demand to come along as well."

Looking down at the assortment of sea creatures that would wade in the water around the two, she would back up a few feet upon the surface, continuing to stand still for a brief moment before making her way out a bit further. In doing so, she would seem to drift upon the surface as the water would skid around her, fluttering about with bubbles as she would begin to drift in the shape of a circle. As graceful as she was experienced in oceanic magic, the lavender-haired mistress would toss outward the twin conch shells into the center of her circle and would seem to hum as she would raise her hands over her chest, clasping them together while closing her eyes.

Forming a deep blue magical circle within the subtle waves, it would almost be instantaneous that two pastel violet whale sharks would shoot out of the formation of ethereality and would crash down in opposing directions, causing majestic splashes to reverberate upon the surface. They would both swim about in bliss amongst the cessation of Misty's drift- she would quickly skid toward where the ocean met the edge of Fiore to get as close as she was to Rhace prior, leaving the two to approach behind her slowly, their bodies mostly submerged with the uppers of their lavender backs exposed.

"Azula is anticipating our arrival, so I am ready to depart as soon as you are," she would speak to the captain as she would slowly make her way over to one of the whale shark's backs, gracefully lowering in the water to sit and run her hands through the gentle waves, "and since we will be underwater for quite some time, I brought some gummy vitamins that allow underwater breathing. They temporarily replace the intake of hydrogen and oxygen with nitrogen and oxygen, not differing in the air that we are breathing now. Please let me know if you are in need of them, though I would understand if you have other plans to accomplish that feat."

    Rhace Tarrin
    Hidden Kingdom Azula

The Elumish swordsman knew that she was an interesting character from the first moment that he had arrived here, for two reasons primarily: one, it was very obvious to him when people were seaborne, especially coming from an island nation such as his own, where people lived and thrived by the beach and the depths below. She was no such exception, finding herself entirely at home by the water, which Rhace could both understand and respect. Two, and likely more critically, was the fact that she had no qualms with havign sea creatures moving across her body. That was a feat, as far as he was concerned, given the fact that he woudl not be caught dead willingly allowing slugs on him. Sure, he had a particular bond with the guild's little slime ball experiment Nuruli, but Nuruli was entirely different (and also notably caustic, so Nuruli was not permitted to climb on him directly at this stage). For her to be able to handle that was suitably impressive, and Rhace couldn't help but think that she was at one with the ocean in ways that he, as a lake and coast-living man had ever been.

And then, insert the exposition that explained every drop of everything Rhace really needed to know to get a handle on this woman. How convenient!

To be totally truthful, Rhace was very much coming to grips with a world where he was absolutely out of his depths. As many people in the guild knew, he was not a mage of any sort. He had been raised in a country where the magical birth rate was approximately, if not less than, one percent. His mother had been one such blessed with the arts of healing, but none ever in the Tarrin direct bloodline had ever been so fortunate - and his father, evidently, was the inheritor of the ancient rites and titles of the family, whereby the blue-haired maiden he had wed intermingled the potential for magical children, though there was no such luck of the three Tarrin scions. He was just a regular, mundane man. Now that he was being exposed to more and more of the world, he was coming to realise just how dangerous and powerful mages truly could be. In all honesty, it was terrifying. Some had the capacity to level cities, and that alone was the most insane thing he had seen in recent times. He was just a guy with a sword, a suit of high-tech stolen armour, and a nanomachine bag of tricks. There wasn't much comparison in his mind for him to be able to keep up with the high powered mages that made the world keep turning, espeically in these turbulent times. He didn't have the ability to do a lot of the crazy fire-manipulating magical stuff that they did, but the reality of the situation was that the more skill he acquired within himself the less he wanted to be a magic-wielding crazy person anyway.

"No need to worry about me spilling the beans. I don't exactly relish the thought of breaking faith with a member of my guild," Rhace said by way of reply to the blue-haired mage's concern. And it was true. If he didn't have his honour and the faith of his members, what was even the point?

The sudden conjuration of their travelling method was, as a result, simultaneously a shock and absolutely not shocking to Rhace. The way they splashed around, playfully, with an almost child-like gait, made these two creatures that would otherwise be terrifying monsters of the deep seem to be entirely non-threatening. Sharks, no matter the type, were usually scary - but these whale sharks were a different breed entirely. However, the Elumish man's face betrayed little surprise. Usually unflappable, he made his living making sure that he was in the moment.

From one of the hard plasteel pouches on the belt around his waist, Rhace pulled a small device, no bigger than the width of his fingers; an angled tube that had a small mouthpiece, with oval-shaped ends. This was not the first time the guildmaster had made use of this device; the day that he and Dagda had explored the hidden and unknown mysteries of his people together, where the fate of Meliora Vitae had changed forever, had been the first outing of this rebreathing device. Armed with what was quintessentially an infinite toolkit of weird and wonderful science fiction gadgets, Rhace had the ability to adapt to, improvise a solution for and overcome any situation that he was faced with. After all, magic and sufficiently advanced technology were, in their own way, indistinguishable.

"This will get me through and let me breathe as much as necessary, but I really do appreciate the offer. I'm not sure how well I'll travel underwater, so... this will be a first hey? I'm ready when you are."

Once more, stepping into the unknown. It was going to be a hell of a ride, on the back of sharks, to an underwater kingdom. The excitement was not lost to him, and the look on his face suggested only mild apprehension - instead, this was a man ready to traverse the depths of the unknwon (to him, anyway), and go on what could have only promised to be a grand adventure beyond all of his wildest dreams. An underwater kingdom? This was the stuff of legend.

Apparently, Meliora Vitae did that really well lately.

Feeling the waves of the ocean crash against her back as they would come in from the coastal front, the ocean dancer of Azula would eventually lower her body to sit on the back of one of the twin whale sharks, almost as if she was sitting upon a plush cushion. “Very well, please let me know if you experience discomfort while using that device and we can make the switch to these,” she would state politely, slipping the baggie of magical pills into her designer purse, “.. riding the whale sharks is easy when you’re used to it, but if you don’t hold on tight enough, you could get swept back by current. There are shell saddles on their backs with handles that will appear when they launch into the depths that you can use for grip, but if you’re flung off they will stop to let you get back on. Just be careful, I don’t want you to hurt yourself, dear. But you’ve got this, and I’ll only be a few feet away from you on whale back.”

Smiling as she would grip one of the two handles of delicate glowing shells that would seemingly manifest out of thin water, assuming that Rhace had climbed onto the other whale shark and met her by her side, a tiny tap of her foot on the aquatic spirit’s side would mark the expedition’s adventure. The initial launch would be quick, and soon they would both find themselves drifting downward at extremely quick speeds. Following behind the whale sharks would be all of the aquatic animals that had accompanied Misty Titania to the surface, even the sea slugs, firmly gripping onto the sides of the faster fish to not get swept away by the thrashing currents. The lavender haired mother would seem to be confident in this way of travel, so much so that she would be only holding on one-handed and allowing her body to flutter through the force of the water. However, as they would get deeper, she would descend onto her seashell saddle and turn toward Rhace in thought, feeling her oceanic surroundings magically and the ethereality of it all. She was entirely within her element in this moment, and she felt as alive as she ever could. It was strange considering she was a mere mortal, an ordinary mage gifted with the power of the ocean’s dance, but the ocean was her home and there was nowhere she felt as comfortable.

“Rhace, holding up well?” she would call out from his right side, upon the whale shark, her eyes bouncing back and forth from the guildmaster’s positioning, what lay ahead, and their general surroundings. In the direction they were headed it would appear that the ocean floor would extend deeper and deeper, accessorized by rocks, corals, and thousands of fish in all different places. Due to the size of the whale sharks, most of the fish would bolt away to clear a path- some, in their own weird way, would seem to be gawking at the magical spectacle of the party shooting through the currents. However, there would be one fish that would not move out of the way of the whale sharks; an actual whale, being of the blue whale species. It would slowly drift across the horizon of the underwater, with some fish gathering around its body as it would make its way- the whale sharks would dip downwards and back up to avoid it, slowly moving in a slight decline into the depths further.

Stroking the soft yet somewhat slimy skin of the whale shark she was riding upon, Misty would look around as they would continue deeper, her eyes looking out for some of the more hostile creatures that were usually around these parts in her travels. But none were visible to her oceanic eyes- they must have been occupied with other hunts, which was quite relieving. “I wish the waters were as peaceful as they are now when I took my grandchildren out a few months ago! There was a barracuda and two great whites last time, so keep your eyes peeled just in case they are lurking around,” she would lightly chuckle, projecting her voice into the waters to allow it to float into Rhace’s ears, “.. have you explored the oceans before? I’d love to hear of your experiences within the seas if you’re willing to share. They make me so happy.”

    Rhace Tarrin
    Hidden Kingdom Azula

On the other end of the oceanic spectrum was Rhace himself. As much as he had grown up surrounded by water, deep-sea diving was something he'd never experienced in his life. Taking hold of the grips available on the summoned shark's saddle, Rhace knew that he was about to be in for one hell of an adventure - the first movements of the beasts were rather unexpected for him, not really knowing what to expect in the first place, but as he found himself settling into place on the saddle and gripping with both hands he found that this wasn't the worst thing he'd ever experienced. He knew full well that Misty would be here to guide him on the adventure and that he'd make it out the other end of this okay.

The chill of the water was entirely familiar, cutting under the skin and making gooseflesh stand on end - the deeper one went in the ocean, the less light reached to heat the water - and so too eventually, depending on depth, the water itself could be strong enough to crush a man's bones thanks to the insane pressures of gravity reaching down to bind the world together. It was a side-effect of deep sea exploration that Rhace absolutely wanted to avoid. Nobody really wanted to become a pancake, or so he theorised. Now was not the time to be experimenting with such things - which then got him thinking, if nothing else, that wherever he was headed had to truly be magical if it was able to resist the effects of depth pressure and still be, say, an entire city going on. Yeah, whatever it was, this was going to be a genuinely interesting ride. There was a moment when he realised that he could barely keep his eyes open, with the water jarring them shut - he decided to look down and cause a pair of goggles to appear from his handy dandy nanite toolkit, which materialised into place over his eyes directly. There, that was much better. Light filtration, too, which gave him the ability to see a little better underwater as the darkness began to swim forth. No heat wasn't the only aftereffect of the sun not being able to kiss the depths of the water, after all.

As they went deeper, Rhace was marvelling at what he found, watching the waves of fish and eels and sharks and other creatures swimming around as if they didn't have a care in the world - and that the presence of the two humans wasn't enough to disturb them. And then, you know, there was a whole ass whale that decided to show its face too, a gigantic oceanic monstrosity that had to be seen to be believed. Most people would have seen photographs of this, but here he was staring it right in the face in all of its enormity and proving that it was, in fact, the master of the ocean depths. This thing was big. He knew this opportunity would probably never come again, and so he couldn't help but stare. Was there fear? Yeah, a little. This thing was gigantic and could genuinely swallow him in a single gulp if it actually wanted to. Good thing it didn't, hey?  He just wanted to keep watching and stare along, however Misty was there to pluck him out of his reverie and bring him back to earth with a question.

He thought about that for a second, furrowed his brow, and frowned.

"To be totally truthful," began the Guildmaster, thinking a little wistfully on the fact that he was about to admit something a little strange for an Elumish man, "I haven't exactly explored the ocean at all. Don't get me wrong, I can swim and all - my family lives on a lake - but being on a lake and not on the ocean, as most people of my homeland do, I haven't really done much like that." His voice was considerably muffled thanks to the necessity of breathing underwater and having to adjust for the total change in the human condition, but the joys of alien-inspired nanotechnology was a wonderful boon to have at his side when he went to do considerable exploring.

"I'm so sorry I'm so boring with that! Though, I am curious - what's the weirdest thing you've ever seen down here? Surely some ancient long-thought-extinct fish or monster or something, right?" he asked. After all, some things couldn't ever be seen by surface dwellers.
