Wolf Walk

For once, the weather seemed to be quite a nice one. Between cloudy skies and the occasional shower, it was hard to find a moment for a nice walk. Thankfully, this should last at the very least till the very end of the day, as the fluffy formations of white were only scarce in blocking the bright blue sky. It was on days like these when Leila could relax the best. And she certainly planned to do so! Though a chance has presented itself to make it a different kind of relaxing to the usual lying around in tall grass and napping.

One of her guildmates, Mizumi, had asked her out. This was, somehow, actually quite rare. Despite Leila being a fairly outgoing person, she seemed to always be kept a fair distance from people and would meet new faces only to then never see them ever again. She was certainly not opposed to this kind of new experience, however! She had met Mizumi quite a while ago, actually. Ever since then, they interacted only seldom. And yet, there were some unusual secrets that the silver wolf had discovered about the blue-haired girl. Ones that kept them in a closely knit duo, in a way.

But right now, they were a fair distance away from their guild hall. Or to be more specific, the smaller town of Hosenka. A fairly luxurious place where only the slightly and completely filthy rich individuals could afford to live. Though it was the closest to the guild, so it only made sense that they were here. And Leila did have a fair bit of spending money saved up. Enough to even pay for her friend here, if she needed to. Speaking of which, she turned around and smiled at Mizumi who was only slightly behind as Leila hopped ahead.

“So, you do this kind of thing often?” Once again, this was actually the first time Leila was just going to hang out with someone in a town instead of charging into battle with them. Though she probably didn’t quite look the par. Long and rather messy hair with silver stands going pretty much in every feasible direction would probably indicate to some that she might have even been homeless or something. Her clothes were awfully tattered as well, they have seen many adventures in the recent few days. And, since Mizumi seemed to like it, Leila was also in her wolf form, sporting a fluffy tail and a pair of animal ears.

It wouldn’t be a life of a mage in this world if something strange didn’t happen with every tenth step. But the words Mizumi let out managed to surprise even Leila, who now stared at her comrade with a somewhat unsure blank expression as if she was trying to process whether she meant it, or whether she was joking. “S..squids?” Certainly not something you would see every single day. Even when diving deep beneath the surface of local oceans, Leila only rarely spotted such creatures, given the fact that they were very quick on disappearing whenever they sensed some form of danger.

But still, there was something that always worried the silver-haired girl when in the presence of Mizumi. “I am aware of how I named our guild, but I don’t think our members should be compared to regular… animals. The power of your latent bloodline might repulse regular creatures, but I don’t think it will-” Case in point, the girl now standing next to Leila and scratching behind her ears. Something that naturally resulted in the ex-guild master leaning deeper into the hand as she blushed and started involuntarily letting out a sound akin to purring.

It might have been dangerous to indulge this girl in her ways, but Leila could barely help herself in wanting to make those around her at least somewhat happy. And it wasn’t like this was unpleasant on any level. Rather, it was… somewhat humiliating? As if she was showing something really indecent in the public. A thought which excited her awfully masochistic brain even further, prompting some self-preservation instincts to kick in and try to continue the conversation in a sensible area. “A-anyway! I’ve never really gone to a city like this to just… hang out with someone. So I’ll be in your care, Mizi.”
