You Could Have Just Let Me On Empty You Could Have Just Let Me On

Oshibana was a beautiful little town, quiet, peaceful and there did not seem to be a leaf out of place. It was the perfect place for a mage to recover their strength and to take some time out from the road. The tall pinkette might have done that, if not for the fact that she was still in a foul mood and recovering her strength was the last thing that she wanted to do. In fact, it was precisely the opposite of what she wanted. She wanted to express herself in the only way that she truly knew how nowadays, by shedding blood and allowing the tsunami of emotion that lay so close to the surface come forth. The goddess wanted nothing more than to grab someone by the throat and rip it out and she was sorely tempted to do that to the next person she saw. For the moment, however, she was simply sitting at the perfectly run train station, watching them go by, a little curious about the machines. She had never seen them before and was eager to perhaps try them out although the thought of paying for the privilege was something that repulsed her slightly. They should be honoured that she wanted to travel on their train and paying her seemed the more appropriate option.

Watching the timetable, Sarisha busied herself briefly as she tried to work the system out, before becoming irritated and simply standing up when the train came to a halt. It did not matter where it went in truth, as she was in no real rush to go anywhere in particular. Just travelling on the vehicle would be enough for her and perhaps might help settle her violent tendencies, at least for the time being. It was a tough ask of course and the mage doubted that it would do anything of the sort but at least it would be a next experience for her and who knew? Perhaps she would find some excitement on the train of a different kind, be it physical or of a different nature.

"I'm sorry, Miss but you're going to have to come with me," a voice suddenly said to her right, interrupting her as she was just about to board, "We have some questions that we'd like to ask about the murder of a pair of presidential candidates. Our evidence shows that you were in the vicinity at the time and you're well known to us by now. Do yourself a favour and don't cause a scene, otherwise we'll have to take you in by force."

Sarisha turned her head to find herself looking at an armoured figure, wielding a long spear in one hand and a shield in the other. He was incredibly heavy set and it was apparent that he was no mere rookie. His voice was deep with a look in his eye that spoke volumes about his character. The goddess had no doubts that he would carry out his threat if pushed although the word we was rather baffling, as he seemed to be alone. Sarisha was not fazed though and got in to the guard's face, having to look up a little, as he was slightly taller than her.

"We?" she asked, briefly looking past him, before returning to look the guard in the eye, "I do not see anyone with you, so I will assume that you are either touched in the head or that they were the smart ones by running off. Do not make the mistake of threatening me as I have no qualms with ripping you rim from rim, right now. You are not the first law man to make the mistake of trying to take me and you will be just as successful as they were, with their entrails being splattered all over the floor. Now, run along home."

"You would risk the lives of the people here, just to evade capture? Do you have no regard for those who live and work here?"

The tall pinkette thought about it for a moment and then answered, "I care not for mortals and killing these peons means nothing to me. What happens to them is on your head, remember that. If I give you the chance to remember it, of course, which I doubt will be the case. I do tend to go a bit overboard, I am afraid."

The guard went for his spear and that was precisely what Sarisha had been expecting, dodging to the side of his thrust and landing a powerful blow to the side of his head, knocking his cranium violently to the left due to the force of the blow. He did not even drop his weapon though and although he staggered backwards, a shake of the head was his only show of pain, before he came forwards again, launching in to a barrage of stabbing attacks with his spear. They were swift but the mage simply evaporated in to water molecules, momentarily disappearing, much to his shock. She then reappeared behind him and struck out with a Torrent God's Claw, which struck him hard on the back, piercing his armour and causing blood to spurt from him.

The moment that the red liquid began to emerge, Sarisha's eyes glazed over and a wicked smile crossed her features. The fool had made the biggest mistake of his life by allowing himself to be cut and now, he would pay the price. The guard grunted in pain from the blow and was slow to turn, giving Sarisha the opportunity to step in and catch with a crunching uppercut that knocked his head backwards, causing him to drop his spear, while the goddess knocked his shield out of his other hand, before surrounding herself with water and dashing towards him, sending them both in to the side of the train with a sickening thud. She was all over him at that point and began raining down with a powerful barrage of punches and body strikes, while he struggled desperately to cover up. Her hands soon began to become surrounded by water as well, to increase her damage. It was a horrible sight for those who were watching, as the guard's face was soon nothing more than a crimson mask, matching the mage's hands.

Why these idiots continued to try to arrest her was a mystery to her. It was a hopeless task for them and the law was such a foolish mantra to follow. Her time with Valara had taught her that the law was simply a way of restraining oneself, created by those who were afraid of their own nature. Sarisha believed that the only true way of living was by one's instinct and emotions, with any other belief simply being a crutch for the cowardly or fearful. She would travel across this land, doing precisely as she wished. This world had been created by the gods anyway and although Valara was no longer considered one by her family, she was still one by blood. By the mage's reckoning, that meant that she herself was beyond all law and order, as she was simply traversing what was hers anyway.

Standing up, she briefly ran her tongue along her hand, a smile still etched across her features. To her great surprise though, he was still breathing and managed to sit up.

"Well," he said panting, "That was certainly a lesson, my superiors forgot to mention that fact that you were a god damn savage. Would have been nice to know before coming here. I suppose that means that I am going to have to summon evil, in order to defeat it. You remember me telling you that we would take you in? Well, here are my men."

Muttering a few words in an unknown language, the guard made a sweeping gesture and to the surprise of the mage, blood red wraiths began to form from the splattered blood. They each stood at about seven feet tall, with gaping maws for mouths. They had no other facial feature and each of them was wielding a blade. There were six of them in all and they circled the goddess, each one looking for the chance to attack. Sarisha, however, simply continued to smile, before suddenly starting to spin in a circle, sending blades of water in all directions and knocking the wraiths back. It gave her the space she needed to use her larger scale attacks and soon the only sound that could be heard was the rushing of water and the screams of the wraiths as the goddess unleashed her wrath upon them. The civilians who were screaming and running for their lives were not safe either and more than one were caught up in Sarisha's spree. It was their own fault though for being there in the first place and she did not show a flicker of sympathy. In the space of five minutes, the battle was over and the wraiths had returned to whence they came.

The guard was speechless and could only watch in frustration as his minions were defeated, before turning his head in disgust. Sarisha was not quite finished though and picked up the guards spear, before walking back towards him.

"How fitting," he simply said, turning back to look at her, "I vowed to live my life in defence of the needy and the weak and by losing to you, I have failed to live up to that vow. Do it."

The goddess did not reply to his final words and instead just impaled him with the spear, burying it through his armour and torso, until it penetrated straight through. He yelled in pain, before falling silent, as even more blood began to seep through his torso, covering the ground around him.

Sarisha did not give him a second thought and turned away from his, to find that the platform had been pretty much destroyed by her rampage, with more than a few civilians either dead or passed out on the blood soaked ground. She did not think anything of it and simply made her way out of the station, ignoring the glances of those who were quivering in fear and diving out of her way. In truth, she had achieved what she had come for and managed to release some of that pent up tension that she had been feeling. Valara seemed content too and she could feel her lovers affection for her as she thought about her. One day, they would find a way to be able to meet but was there one that did not involve another mage keeping them stabilised? There was no one that she could trust, now that Miss Elisson had been compromised by the law. She could not return there so what could she do? Also, what about Eyal? There was still no sign of him and she had little doubt that he would sooner or later come for her. There were too many unanswered questions at the moment and she needed answers quickly.

Anyway, leaving the town of Oshibana behind her, Sarisha was soon back on the road and vanishing back in to the forest that surrounded the place. She had no idea about where her next stop would be but there would always be more foes to fight, gods to slay and blood to shed. Perhaps she would return to the job market for a few days and take on a quest or two, as it had been some time since she had taken part in any significant ones and she was a little low on jewels. There were many options for her and no doubt there would be greater challenges too, not just from the laws and guilds but everyone else as well. She was making so many enemies that it was difficult to keep track of at this point but that only made things more fun and a smile soon crossed her features as she went on her way.
