At that point in time, the Pisces Saint had given up all hope on finding someone worthy to train. Not that there weren't any candidates or people willing to undergo his training; it was just that they didn't have that one trait he deemed necessary to become his apprentice, his slayer. The immunity to poison. Some had it till a certain extend, but when the actual exchange of power began, they all succumbed to the potent poison that was his own. He should’ve been glad, knowing that his poison indeed was the strongest and most lethal, worthy of being called that of a god and that he, the one who successfully wielded it, was to be seen as a god without equal because of it. Without equal he was indeed; but without company too, for none could come close to him or his domain without losing their lives to the poison that riddled the air, coursed through his magic, and had carved itself into his very being. His life had become a myth, for none had seen the Pisces Saint, who now lived in solitude until the ends of time.

Surprised he thus was when at the edges of his domain an infant was found between roses otherwise lethal to any living being. It had no trouble laying there, and cried loudly for anyone to acknowledge his presence. The Venom God had only to draw closer but remained distanced, reluctant for the death that lingered around his being, in fear of hurting the child. The infant however cried on forcefully, unshaken and untainted by the poisonous roses in which he laid. It was then that the Pisces Saint neared and knelt down to take hold of the child. The child stopped crying as it gazed upon the man pale face, his deep blue eyes reflecting in that of the child’s, and smiled happily. The god returned the smile, whispering kind words to the infant as he held it closely and returned to the secludedness of his territory. “Would you like to live in this red garden with me... small one?”

This took place 8 years ago; 8 years in the Pisces Saint’s domain, which were but a mere 2 years in the actual world. Time ran differently within these parts, and with it also the potency of the poisons that lingered there. The Pisces Saint’s domain; a far-stretching area where a cluster of temples, plains and once even a village resided. Yet where the Saint and his Apprentice resided was at the top of a long pathway, past 12 large staircases carved within the mountainside. A similar amount of abandoned temples, whom each were unique in appearance, stood proudly atop each platform the next flight of stairs lead to. It was at the very end of this pathway, after one had scaled all 12 temples and conquered their trials, that one could find the twosome. Beyond the last temple that guarded the palace located at the top of the mountain, where once the greatest God on Earth had resided, that a field of roses had spread as far as mortal eyes could see. It was amidst these roses, whom had only accepted few to thread among them, that a young child and his master could be found.

Lugonis watched the child carefully, seated atop one of the fallen pillar that dotted the field of roses. It had been ages since he’d taken on the mantle and title that belonged to the prideful Venom Gods, but he had worn them with honor for the last few centuries, be it that none had been there to witness him doing so. He’d been the first in his line to actually desire a secluded, humble life, one of few merits and just one goal; to make his venom so omnipotent it could become a cure if used properly. Only when this child had appeared, immune to his most poisonous self, had Lugonis taken a different look at things. The thought of teaching an apprentice, leave alone raise a child, had been all but on his mind, yet for some reason he was grateful that his life of solitude had come to an end. The way they’d grown towards one another was more than just student and master; to Lugonis the child had become like a son for him, and was thus treated with the same strict kindness befitting of such bonds...

The child, whom he’d named Albafica, was an eager one and had strived to gain his master’s approval. One of those methods of gaining approval was the perfection of his training and the use of the demon roses that grew around the house he called home. Using the magic essence to strengthen the roses they became deadly tools, be it that he had to raise his accuracy to perfection. “The roses grown by us are deadly poisonous, if we cannot wield them with utmost precision then we’ll spread death not only amongst our opponents.” The death of an innocent, “disaster”, was something Lugonis truly feared, and was also the reason why he lived so secluded from the outside world. Albafica, striving to stay with his master had, after years of training, finally mastered the precision and accuracy needed to progress onward. He’d noticed his master had been acting slightly off today once Lugonis had taken knowledge of this event; Lugonis’ eyes were pinned upon his apprentice, but he seemed lost in deep, impregnable thoughts. Albafica couldn’t shake the feeling that something was due to happen.

Later that night, with the moon sky-high and the stars shining brightly, Lugonis had called his apprentice with him, both silently gazing at the beauty of the night sky for a moment. The air around Lugonis was unusual, and Albafica was curious to ask why he was called out at such a late hour. “Master…?” Albafica spoke silently as he got closer. “What’s going on? Why do you want to talk in the middle of the night…?” His master didn’t make any eye-contact, yet kept staring at the moon, his golden armor reflecting the soft light of the illuminating orbital spheres that dotted the night sky.

“Albafica. You were born with natural immunity to poison. Up till now I have raised you as a warrior.”

    “...Yes?”

“It’s time to progress to the next stage of training… however, before all, I want you to make a choice. You can leave this garden return to the people and the world or you can form a red bond with me and aim to become the next Pisces Saint.”

Surprised by this sudden statement, Albafica nearly cried out his surprise. “What are you talking about?! What red bond…?”

“A ceremony of blood.” Lugonis said with a plain, cold face. “We would exchange blood from the tips of our fingers through tiny wounds. The ceremony would continue for a few years, until the blood in our bodies intermix completely. Those who cannot withstand the poison of the Pisces Saint’s blood, die. It’s a dreadful secret art...”
