Rank: A
Job Location: Islands Region
Solo Word Count: 7000
Group Word Count: 14000
Additional Requirements: Must complete "The Rumble of the Thunder King"
Job Description: You have freed the slaves, but still turmoil is on the horizon. Your actions had encouraged rebellion from both the Mogu and the thunder king himself. The skies has already begun to darken. However, the words of Chen Stormstout has roused brave souls to begin to train and fight for their freedom.
However, a couple of village pandas with garden tools and some kung-fu isn't enough to face an army. You soon learn of the Shadow-pan, a sect of martial artists monks who first oppose Lei Shen but failed-- cursed into stone in their mountain monastery.
With the aid of human wizards like yourself, you may be able to break the seal and free them. But their monastery is cursed by ever-present darkness. Restless spirits roam and a shadowy fiend resides to look over the imprisoned warriors. Brave the darkness that looms over the monastery and faces the shadow.
Beware not to succumb to the dark whispers that lead you to free the same evil that holds it within the monastery.
Rules: For every roll, you proceed into the monastery by a number of passages. You must reach a total of 25 passages to reach the boss. (If you roll a boss, its count as Strong) till you accomplish the passage total.
Enemies:
Weak: Lesser Sha-- Blobs that shift and morph in shape, but made of pure malice and negative emotions. They feed on the tormented souls of the Shadow-Pan warriors trapped in stone and have grown quite numerous like rats. They deal C rank darkness damage, but also absorb your MP if you are not careful. They are classified as demons and ghosts. Rolling this will cause 5 of them to appear. (Proceed 5 passages)
Normal: Warrior Wraith -- One of the souls of the Shadow-Pan have broken free from their stone body's bindings but as a wraith. It is forced to relive the events of his or her demise for all time, fighting anything that moves as if it was one of the Sha and Mogule that brought about the curse upon them. Once defeated, it returns to its statue, but over time will return. Classified as B rank enemy but cannot be defeated by normal spells or physical attack. Support or Healing spells are known to have a positive effect-- pacifying the spirit to rest. Either find a way to pacify it, or flee to avoid fighting the tormented soul which will do you no good. (Proceed 10 passages)
Strong: Swollen Violence -- The sha spirits have pooled into one large entity, becoming a swolen blob with tentacles, claws and will absorb attacks. Attacks will be pointless as all damage taken-- half of it is added to its HP. (Piercing spells will not trigger HP regain) . As an A rank enemy, its difficult to defeat, however, there is a secret. If one can survive its attacks for 5 posts, but not attack OR use the help of a 'pacified' wraith, they can dissolve the sha into a weaker form and its abilities become negated. (Proceed 15)
Boss: Sha of Pride -- The root of the Shado-Pan's curse. Their pride in their abilities and overconfidence led to their demise as the Thunder King used the ancient curse to keep them imprisoned forever, bound by the dark spirit. An A rank boss with 1.50X its usual HP and regenerates 20% of its HP while it has a victim in its thrall.
It uses darkness magic to attack with B rank damage, via its claws and shadowy orbs. However, as a spirit, it can easily possess others. Via a psychic technique, it taps into the pride of one of its enemies, triggering its HP regeneration and enthralled target can use its target's magic as if it was its own. Only via anti-illusion magic to break the hold or facing one's own pride and showing humility... can one break the illusion.
Once that is done, they are immune to the Sha's influence and stop their HP regeneration.
Reward: 75K Jewel, Access to next quest in the chain. What is Worth Fighting For?
