Rarest Flower(Solo/Mission)

Another day, another opportunity to take another job. Aria woke up early so she can get a heads start and avoid being ogled by her guild mates. She had decided when she saves enough jewels that she will buy a new mask. One that doesn't make her look suspicious. Various pretty mask dance before her eyes, motivating her to do well in her job. "Yosh! I have to work double time for this! Now what job to pick!" There were a lot of low rank jobs on the board but most of them are basic retrieval missions. Either a lost lost puppy a lost pendant or stuff that the owners have carelessly misplaced. Then she saw a flier that with a strange name. "The Rarest Flower, sounds nice. Maybe ill do this one." She then took the flier off the board and headed towards the clients home. A pharmaceutical shop located in the business district of Magnolia.

"This must be the place." Aria said as she looked at the address written on the flier. Strange, for the place looks like an abandoned ware house. Aria knocked on the rusted iron door. First knock, no response,second knock still nothing, third knock a voice came out of nowhere "Hey! Cant you read the sign? Press the com link if you have any business." Right, how come she didn't notice that, it was written in bold red letters right next to the "Drop package here" sign. "Sorry, Must have missed it. " There was a moment of silence, a bit too long if you ask her so she spoke again "I am here for the job." There a whizzing sound and the front door opened. Then a man in a white lab coat stepped out to greet her. "You should have told us that earlier. Come in, come in, you have no idea how long we've been waiting for someone to answer our ad."

This was indeed the place. Inside the seemingly innocent warehouse was a laboratory. It also housed a lot of curious looking plants and even curiouser looking animals locked up in cages. They continued on their tour of the place until they reached a small yet comfy room, his office she presumed. The man invited her in and sat at the chair behind a wooden desk. He then took out a brown envelop and tossed it at her. "That is the rare flower we want to you retrieve. We call it the Maiden's Soul." the man explained as she looked at the contents of the envelop. "Its a very rare flower that has certain medicinal values. We want you to go to the Spooky Forest and retrieve at least one before it fully blooms." The man clasped his hands and asked "So you think you ca do it?" It was fairly easy, I mean how hard it be right? Aria nodded her head. "Great, you can take our gyro-chopper to get there fast."

That was quick. Nothing beats flying in style. Sure she can fly, but flying on a flying contraption is way better that flying solo. You wont believe how much dust and bugs end up as goo on your face when you whizz freely trough the sky. She waved at the pilot as she disembarked and headed for the spooky forest. And yeah, the pilot is going to wait until she returns. "I wonder what medicinal properties this flower has that thos rich loonies are willing to spend a fortune just to get one." She will never know, she was poor and broke. Same reason she is taking this job.

The first few minutes were uneventful, aside from the few bat, snakes, owls and wolves that she had encountered, everything was ok. She had not encountered any of the more sinister and mischievous tenants of the forest yet. She shudders at the memory of a past job she did here. She never wants to encounter another vulcan as long as she lives.

No sooner had she thought that a bunch of vulcans came passing, rather swinging. She quickly dove into the bushes and prayed that they dont spot her. She really really does not want to have another quarrel with them. Vulcans have a pack mentality so when one cries, a throng will come. Better to be safe than sorry she always say. "Wait, when did I ever say that?" she said as she scratched her head.

Finally after a few minutes, the last of the vulcans had passed by. She can breath easy again and get out of the itchy spot that she just hid in. She dusted herself of the dust and leaves which clung to her cloak and gloves and sleeves. "That was fun...not." Tired of the ground she decided it was best if she just hovered. No sound, it was faster and if ever spotted she can just fly up and away then just glide back down then the cost is clear. "Stupid vulcans..." she muttered under her breath. She lost quite some time, the sun was almost setting. She hastened her flight but something caught her attention. A blueish light which seems to beckon for her.

A will-o-wisp. It was calling her. "Maybe it wants to lead me to my destiny, or in my case...the flower!" Her face lit up beneath the plastic and crystalline mask. She flew towards the floating ball of blue flame, which seems to be moving away as she approaches it. Some thing was off, wisps rarely fly away, they usually blink form one point to another, not fly away when approached by strangers. "Must be on of them shy types." she thought as she shrugged the thought away.

It lead her through streams, shallow crevasses, ruined temple...wait ruined temple? She halted and decided to investigate. It was old, it should be since its a ruined temple. The entrance was blocked by hanging vines and fallen trees. "Meh, easy challenge." she said as she shifted to ghost form and passed trough the vines and tree trunks. Another hurdle, it was dark. "No worries, I'll just do this." she flicked her ghostly fingers and a bunch of green balls of flames appeared out of thin air. She should have kept it dark, inside the corridor were fallen bones. And deeper ahead, red eyes were staring at her.

'Monster Dice' :

The three sets of eyes approached her, revealing three small dainty and weak goblins. They hurled stones at her but it just phased right trough her. She was still in ghost form so nothing can harm her. She just passed through them as she continued on her way. The goblins still throwing stuff at her, now they were grabbing bones and hurling it at her. They were brave, stupid brave. Dont they know that they can be cursed if they meddle with the remains of a person? "Maybe I can help them out a bit?" she thought It was a mischievous plan ad it will get these pests off her back, even for a brief time. She flicked her fingers again and some of the ghostly flames raced towards some of the scattered bones on the temple's floor. Then apparitions sprung forth from the sleeping remains. Terrifying specters, their appearance was that when they passed on to the next life. Still, it appears it doesn't bother the goblins, for instead of hassling her, they turned their attention towards the ghosts. "Didnt turn the way that I wanted but it did get them off my back." And she continued on her way, into a room laden with treasures.

Some temple this turned out to be. The room she was in had piles of glittering gems laying on the floor. Golden and silver trinkets also litter the room's floor but there were two things that caught her eyes. In the middle of the room were two pedestals. On the right was a glittering mask adorned with gems and precious metals. On the left was an orb. It was black as night but when she tried to get close to it some weird light came shining out of it. When it shone on her, she reverted back into her human form and fell down.

There was a soft crash as her tush hit the pile of treasure. "Interesting, maybe ill take these as souvenir." She approached the two pedestals and placed the two items in her pocket. "Nice haul. Now I dont have to buy for a mask, this one will suit me just fine." Still she has to finish the job she was on, it wouldnt be fair to her costumers and it would also leave a bad impression on her guild. She tried shifting back to her ghost form but she still cant. "Oh well, I guess I have to walk." She was about to walk out the door when the three ugly goblins appeared. "Not you again!"

Since she cant turn into her ghost form she had no other option but to fight. "Your asking for this!" she said as she stretch out her hand and clenched it as if she was making a gesture that she wanted to crushed them. The goblins blinked then stared at each other. Aria blinked too. Nothing was happening, they were suppose to be floating in the air right now and turned inside out, yet there they stood. Something was wrong, did she loose her magic. Then she remembered it all started when she reached for the orb. She brought it out and wasnt surprised to see it glowing. "You cheeky little bugger." She then noticed that the mask was also glowing. "Interesting..." she then took off her mask and place on the mask that she just found. And just like that, she was airborne again. With a grin on her face she looked at the three goblins and repeated what she did earlier.

The three goblins were now suspended in the air. In their desperation thet threw the golden that they collected while Aria was resolving her magic issues. It hit her but it didnt hurt as much, after all they were just cups, crowns and necklaces. When they ran out of ammo, she gave them a huge smile and said "My turn!" and with a swift jerking motion that she did with her arm the goblins were raised so fast that their heads collided with the temples ceiling then dropping them back down, unconscious. There was a soft rumbling noise coming from the ceiling. The impact must have weakened it. Then bit and pieces of the ceiling started falling off, she moved the goblins away from the falling debris to keep them from getting splattered. Yeah they were annoying but she dosnt want them dead. When the part of the ceiling stopped falling, she looked up and saw light streaming in. "Good an instant exit."

Outside, the will-o-wisp was still waiting. "Wow, that is one patient wisp. Patience...time, oh my!" She looked up, the sky was now red, the sun was setting. She then turned her attention to the wisp, it stared back at her and it furled it ghostly forehead. Then two set of arms appeared from its side and gestured for her to follow. Then if flew away again, this time a little faster than earlier. She cant argue with that, she was running out of time and daylight. "Was the flowers suppose to bloom at night?" she then blitzed after the will-o-wisp.

The wisp lead it to a clearing in the forest. There grew myriads of white lotus like flowers whose buds have not opened yet. "So this are the maidens soul." as she took on sample and placed it in her container, the wisp glided down next to her and turned into a man dressed in black suit, yes just like those worn by bodyguards. The ghost smiled at her and said thanks. As it touched her hand, its memories came flashing back. It seems he was one of the earlier mercenaries hired to get the flowers. Unfortunately they took too long to locate the flower field and night time came. Then one by one, the mercs fell, he alone made it this far but he also fell prey to one on the many night terrors lurking in the forest. She saw the decomposing body of the guard laying a few meters from her. She raised her arm then lowered it, as she did the earth seem to shake and shimmy, sliding the flowers and the mans remain downwards until it was completely covered in earth. The man gave her one last look, then its face changed into it current appearance. Flesh melting off and bones exposed then in a creepy voice is shouted "Fly!!" Shocked she did as the man said and sped upwards. Good timing too, as soon as the sun set the flowers began to open one by one, and out came weird looking dark creatures. Women to be exact, dead women are coming out of the flowers. Dead vicous angry and tortured women souls out in search of blood. She watched in terror as they ganged up on a stray vulcan that came too close. She looked at hers and noticed that nothing is happening to the sample she took. What ever the reason, she was happy none of them were popping out of her sample. She then went back to the chopper and said. "Mission is done Jeeves, now take me back."

In the end she was given her reward plus the treasures she got from the temple. It would have been a happy day is she could only forget the hell that the poor mercenary went trough just to for her to get her job done.
