- Job Title: Topple the Tower
Rank: B
Player Requirements: B rank or 2 C Rank, at least 12k word count total. Only Legals and Independents. Max of 3 mages.
Job Requirements: Fight at least 6 enemies, Defeat the Boss. Rolling for enemies is recommended for added fun.
Job Location: Hargeon Town
Job Description: A mysterious tower has risen from the sea of the coast of Hargeon town and has made a stone bridge connecting itself to the harbor. People who went to investigate never came back, and the Council hopes the mages would accept such a task.
Upon entering the tower, all mages will be stripped of any weapon(will be returned after the mission) and can only cast spells up to D rank(UAs do not work either, lineage however still does). However defeating enemies seem to drop special stones that restore use of spells of a higher rank once 10 are collected(loses stones upon restoration, +10 stones for every restored rank). There seems to also be mysterious shopkeeps in the tower that sell you one of 5 items for Gold.
Item 1: For 3 pouches of gold, you can get a really special stone that grants you use of your UAs for 3 posts. Does not stack duration upon multiole consumptions.
Item 2: For 7 pouches of gold, you can get a meal that restores UAs permanently. But you must finish your food. Meal item will contain whatever the buyer hates, and no refunds.
Item 3: For 8 pouches of gold, you can get a sword that will kill a Golem and only one Golem.
Item 4: For 10 pouches of gold, you get a sword that can change the monster to something stronger or weaker.(weak and normal only).
Item 5: For 1 pouch of gold, you get a pack of cards that give you details about surviving the Tower. However you must solve said pack of cards in order to let you have said info.
Note: Summons have infinite duration during this mission thanks to the Tower's power, however no matter the rank only 1 can be active at a time, only affects D rank summons and Summons do not die that are instead stunned for 5 posts.
Enemies:
Weak: Mimics. Simple chest like monsters with glittering insides and razor sharp teeth. It is hard to distinguish normal chests from Mimics but are worth the reward for defeating them. 1 special stone and a pouch of gold(pouches is ten gold).
Normal: Stalkers. These zombie like monsters shamble the corridors in search of prey. If they spot you they will leap at least 15m towards you dealing C rank damage. After a leap they will deal damage with their sharp claw hands for 1/2 C rank damage. They can leap again after 3 posts. They drop 1 special stone and 3 pouches of gold.
Strong: Golems. Stone structures marked with special purple runes. Fighting seems to have awoken these mysterious guardians and brandish their fury against you. Golems deal AoE B rank damage in a 5 meter radius each time they punch and have a ground slam that hits for 15m radius with the same B ramk damage. Golems drop 5 stones but no gold.
Golems do not die but are instead stunned for 5 posts. The only way to kill one is to buy a special sword for a shopkeep.
Boss: Susano. A man stands upon a spire, brandishing a sword as long as his arm's width that crackles with thunderclouds. If you have yet to kill 5 enemies and you roll a Boss, blowing hurricanes will instead blast towards you for 2 posts that deal B rank damage.
Susano will have three attacks that he can execute.
The first attack is a basic strike that deals C rank damage that if it lands 3 times, will cause the damage to increase to B rank damage.
The second attack he dashes at you before ending it with a spin. Getting hit by the dash and spin deals 2B rank damage(Dash and Spin on their own deal C rank damage).
The third attack he slams his sword down, causing a tornado to form and knock up everyone 30m into the air. Deals B rank damage.
Note he may combine his attacks to deal massive damage so be careful. Drops 10 pouches upon defeat and a teleportation platform appears aling with a unique shopkeeper.
Reward: 15k Jewels and one of four items if you have a total of 20 pouches of gold after defeating Susano. Note only 1 can be bought. If in a team, only one person can pick one item.
Item 1: Gold to Jewels. Get another 500 jewels for every pouch. Can be purchased by anyone and multiple times.
Item 2: Spire Deck. The Spire deck is another magical item that can be used to summon Mawlow the Space Whale. Mawlow the Space Whale will bring you anywhere in the world and if you need it, moral support in your challenges.
Item 3: Purple Wand. Tastes purple and can turn your enemies into tiny cute animals for 3 posts if the attack lands. Can only be used every 7 posts. Plot wise you can turn anything into whatever you like. When an enemy is in animal form they can only run.
Item 4: The Mighty Susan. A tiny Susano for you. Has the knockup slash and the dash move.
I've been out there and seen the things she's made
Surviving the Ravines of the Lost had been a trial for Mythal. Though he wasn’t nearly as badly beaten as he was after his fight with Lexa, he was still fairly shaken. Blind courage and adrenaline only carried a person so far before they finally crashed and had to take in their surroundings. The God Slayer managed to make it out of the fog-filled ravines that he had wandered into, stumbling and walking all the way to the flat ground just before it. And then he had finally collapsed, their weight of everything hanging on his shoulders like a tremendous anchor. Faera had been there; her nigh-omnipotent power pressing against him like it had when he was a teenager. He could feel the old memories crawling up from the cesspools of his mind, sharp, angry talons reaching out to drag him back into the myriad of depression. But there was something that kept him from falling or rather, somethings.
There was the matter of Gren Ragnos’ voice. Right as Mythal was giving up, right as he stood on the precipice of throwing any hope of escaping away, his father’s voice had come to him. It must have been some memory tucked away in the recesses of his brain but it had come had the most opportune time. His father would never have forgiven him if he had surrendered there, in the pits of darkness. Even if it was his memory forming ethereal advice, it still was exactly what the caring but hardened man would have said. It was unacceptable to drown in the darkness.
The other part, and arguably more important matter, was Serilda. She’d made a promise to him that she would keep him from the dark, would help guide him towards the light. Frankly if he had been taken there, it would have set her off on a path he couldn’t quite forgive himself for helping push her towards. Visions of her, memories of their jobs and experiences together thus far, had been the final push that snapped him from his slumber. If he was being honest with himself, he was sure it had been the thought of her that had summoned Curse back. Never had anyone been such an important part of his life before – he’d never allowed himself a friend prior so having one… it meant the world to him.
He glanced at the weapon still in his hand, the waning sun glimmering in its polished face. How long had it been gone this time? The better question was how long had he been inside that realm? Had it been hours? Days even? He numbly reached into his pocket and pulled out his iLac, gently pressing the button to summon its home page. Much to his surprise it had, in fact, only been a couple of hours since he had journeyed down into the depths. Well that was good, at the very least. If it had been any longer than a day or so, he was sure people probably would have started asking questions.
He scoffed as he pushed himself to his feet, letting out a small groan of pain as his body yelled at him. “Nice of you to join us again. Maybe you stay around a bit longer this time, eh?” he asked his weapon, holding it out in front of him. As per usual when he conversed with it, there was no answer. Despite its almost sentient ability to disappear and return by its own volition, there was no other sign that it had a conscious of its own. It almost seemed to be a weapon of opportunity at this point – only showing up when he really needed it. Whatever the case, it had managed to return once more. How long this time was anybody’s guess.
The God Slayer slid the weapon behind his back, the blade retracting so it was almost the size of a dagger. He had remembered, when detailing what he wanted to the tailor, to include a small patch for his weapon. The tailor had been surprised when he said he didn’t need any kind of magnetized bar inside the hem or clip to keep it attached. The sword was pressed against the back of his pants and there it stuck, without any rhyme or reason.
The trip back to Magnolia was far too much for him now. Hell, even getting back to his house in Oshibana was going to be a task. He needed a place to rest his head for the night and rest his battle-worn body. And with that concluded in his head, he began to slow walk to the nearest city he could pull up on his iLac.
