Name: Taliesin Blackburn
Gender: Male
Age: 23
Birthday: 11/06
Sexuality: Straight
Special Characteristics: N/A
Personality:
On the exterior, Taliesin appears to be laid-back and relatively easy-going. He has no interest in needlessly asserting his opinions when they are not requested, and carries on with his own business and personal devices without ruffling other people’s feathers. Unless he needs to be, he prefers to be non-confrontational where he feels that there could be better and less irksome uses of his time. This demeanor can make him come off as lethargic and aloof, but it is his ineptitude with social interaction that keeps him secluded—not a complete lack of desire for camaraderie.
Equipped with a dry and sometimes dark sense of humour, he tends to act a tad frivolous with individuals he knows well. Sarcasm is a favourite of his, and while some jests can be misplaced, he tries to bottle up his jibes if the other person seems to have an aversion to it. When it comes to battle and dangerous situations, he is a pragmatist and a realist. Though he does his best to keep his feelings to himself, he is not entirely without anxieties—there are many people in the world with greater capacities for spearheading danger than himself. Without dire need of his participation—also known as moral obligation or sizeable pay—he is avoidant of situations that could see him headless in seconds.
Largely seeking a greater purpose in life, he disdains the disinterest he feels with most activities. It makes for an odd mix of aspiring to gain motivation he does not have. He happens to be a prudent one, cautious and always analyzing as many minute details about situations practically to a fault. He does exemplify the ‘beware of the quiet ones’ saying, as despite not wanting to actively get in anyone’s face because of petty disagreements, he suffers from a volcanic temper. Tending to bottle feelings up for as long as he can, he does not have the greatest reactions when finally succumbing to them. It is his personal belief that, should he illustrate his emotions, it would merely allude to weakness.
Likes:
Writing – Starting as a means of complaining to himself about the less desired nuances of each day, what was once a daily journal cataloguing his actions and thoughts became a full-fledged hobby. Literature quickly became a field he enjoyed, the different styles, devices and their applications, and he gained interest in assorting the events of his own life into written stories, with slight modifications to turn them into works of fiction.
Purpose – Disliking the feeling of rotting away and doing nothing, he finds the feeling of doing something with meaning and purpose elating. Even if he doesn’t have a clear image of all his goals, he wagers he can at least afford to do something useful along the way. Though uncertain of in what way, he wants to make something of himself.
Money – Having experienced what it is like to be poor, he enjoys the idea of having a surplus of money. Consequentially, jobs with a high pay grade are very alluring for him. Money can’t buy happiness, but it seems to be associated with it.
Dislikes:
Publicity – In essence, he prefers to keep to his own business and be unseen. He does not mind interacting with others, but dislikes too much exposure to large events and excessive clinginess.
Telepathy – It is a weird dislike, but anything that allows one to commune with him mentally makes his skin crawl. The idea of someone digging around in his mind, his sanctuary, is unappealing.
Discarding – Things. He is a bit of a hoarder—preferring to keep every belonging, even if he does not have use of them anymore. It may be spurred on because of possibly needing it later, or more sentimental reasons.
Motivations:
Finding a greater purpose – At the moment, Taliesin’s goals are very tenuous—make something of himself, become prosperous in his chosen field that is mercenary work. However, he seeks to find a greater purpose in life, even if it continues to elude him.
Learn – Taliesin wants to learn more about the world, its intricacies, and its various mysteries. He finds them intrinsically interesting, and he believes knowledge is power, too. His choice of occupations tends to result in this exposure.
Strength – Becoming stronger may result in neat accolades to his name, but the best part about it is not dying when inevitably finding himself in troublesome situations. Or at least, lowering the chance of it as much as possible.
Fears:
Entomophobia – Don’t show him pictures of bugs, or bring any near him—this is one of his most hated encounters. Excessive use of force towards insects or simply vacating the premises tends to be his tendencies. Not something he’s proud of.
Domestic Conflict – Adversity towards enemies is sketchy, but not something he necessarily has huge reservations towards. Regarding people he knows, part of the reason he keeps to himself a lot of the time is his pessimism regarding a dispute emerging, even if he is a generally inoffensive person.
Himself – He is well-aware of his ability to black out and consider everyone around him an enemy either due to defeat or seething rage, and this downright scares him.
