Weeds. Boring, Right?

Why was Althea even there?  She hated herself so much at that point.  What kind of cruel idea was it to randomly choose a job off the D-rank board?  What did she expect, to get something cool like that one time with the wyvern?  In fact, the slayer had been on a job in Beanstalk Village way back when she first joined Fairy Tail where she had to deal with some dark magic guy.  In fact, that wasn’t where the similarities between the job from then on the job she was on stopped.  They were both about plants too, although her previous one had been far more interesting.  It might sound lame on the surface, but really killing a bunch of magically produced vegetable soldiers was actually pretty fun.  Back then she was still using Blizzard magic too, so she had plenty of fun plowing through their numbers with her frosty lance in hand.

But that wasn’t the only thing that changed, apparently time had also made her less reasonable.  She had nothing to do for a day, so she had this bright idea to close her eyes and take the first job she touched.  This could’ve been a pretty fun thing to do, but for some reason Althea had opted for a lower ranked job than she could potentially take.  The thing with that was that most of the jobs there were painfully boring and didn’t have anything that Althea found remotely interesting.  In fact, the job she had ended up with was actually the 7th she had chosen, refusing to do any of her previous picks.  Previous picks had her doing things like working in hospitals (needles were a nope), kitchens (also a nope), and cleaning up people’s houses.  But what she ended up settling with was weed gathering.  Usually Althea would be complaining so much about something she ha set herself up on, but there was something especially sad about having to go into a forest and dig up weird weeds for money.

But she’d just have to make the best out of her situation, and the blonde was determined to do so.  She was going to gather up weeds, but she was going to do it so well that… well, she wasn’t exactly sure what would happen.  So, she just made her way through the forest on the outskirts of Beanstalk, using her magic sensory to detect the weird weeds and uproot them with a trowel and dumping it into a bucket.  She was told that she’d only need one sample, but she reckoned it would be best not to leave the stuff lying around for anything to come along and still be injured by.  Althea had already taken care of five of them when suddenly this huge purple plant emerged out of nowhere, it’s dark vines whirling about.  “Hwya!”  Cried the startled Althea as she did the first this her instincts told her to, punch the thing.  And thus she did, sending it reeling back into the tree behind it.  By the time the youth had gathered her nerves the plant was already out for the count.  After that encounter, the young girl say no more interruptions, uprooting the other remaining two and returning with no problem.
