In the last approach from her majesty, the Regent of the Night, she threatened to bring the World of Eternal Darkness to Earthland, resulting in an event known as the ‘Night of Eternal Darkness’. Upon the captured mages helping her find enough magic energy to achieve her goal, things suddenly went silent. The evil Regent of shadows vanished without a trace and things went back to normal, or so it would seem.
If only Earthland could have that much luck. It had been a year since her attempt at shrouding the world in everlasting night, but something mysterious suddenly began to rear its head. The skies of both day and night shriveled to pitch black, casting a shadow over the entire land. The sun shone no more and the moon above glowed an eerie black that brought no light.
The Magic Council is in a panic, with none of the renowned wizards of Fiore offering any explanations or solutions to the frightening event. The only factor they can link it back to was the discovery of the World of Eternal Darkness exactly one year prior. The Rune Knights have been dispatched to handle the panicked and stressed town populations, but the terror levels alone are not the only thing the officials have to be concerned with.
The moon is sprinkling a black powder over Earthland, blanketing the world in its black glowing dust. The substance, informally known now as ‘Moon Pollen’, is warping the magical structure of the world. The seas have been dyed black from the moon and the tides are uneven and irregular. Sightings of unlabeled and unknown monsters have been reported, but these horrors are the least of the world’s concern-- mages know how to handle monsters. One in every four people have been strangely altered mentally and sometimes magically. The personalities they once knew have been inverted, swapped to a polar opposite of who they truly are.
The newspaper was so dramatic. Yaqtin gleefully oversaw the chaos from the people of the land from the state their world was in. Personalities were reversed, the ocean was dyed a lovely shade of onyx, and the moon still gently brushed glowing obsidian powder over the surface of the world. This was exactly the paradise his lady had wished for. Could it be like this forever?
In celebration, the Pumpkin Lord had magically produced a new festival. Unlike the formality of the Candy Corn Gala, he set up a sort of party one would find out in the countryside. It was outdoors under the black sky and the colorful, but mostly bare, trees. Vibrant leaves littered the ground but were shaded over by the dark moon above. Wires ran from tree to tree in the clearing, stringed with little lanterns across to light up the area. Neat tables were set up with punch, snacks, candy, pumpkin flavored desserts-- much to his chagrin-- and fall decorations. To avoid too much familiarization from last year, Yaqtin took a human form. He assumed the shape of a blonde-haired man in a fancy suit with a splash of autumn colors on it. An outdoor tiny orchestra of floating instruments with no musicans played upbeat seasonal tunes, inviting a sense of warmth to the clearing out in the middle of an unknown forest. Night mare horses carried sleighs for hay rides all around the beautiful fall wood. This was a time for merriment and fun, not deceit and fear. One could say this evening was dedicated to treats, not tricks.
In intricate handwriting, he had sent out yet another letter across Fiore. Those that received it, if they had even the mildest of impulses to attend, would be transported to the venue in a plume of black and orange smoke. It was time to get this party started~
