Inkormine stepped out of the little hut near the Mystic Tower where he'd holed up to prepare for tomorrows investigation, stretching his arms with his eyes closed as he yawned, shivering a bit at the brisk night air on his topless self. He'd left his shirt inside, since he wasn't supposed to meet Song for at least an hour and Haley for longer then that, and a good stretch after a nap was the best. Although there was that cold touching on him, it kinda felt like that snow stuff, except now it wasn't just on his hands. He kept the stretch going until with a loud and pleased sigh he let his arms fall... Only to start spitting and sputtering as a cold landed in his mouth but it tasted like ash and death! This got his eyes open and now he got to see what was up. The stars, moon, and sun, all their lights didn't shine, the strange reverberations of the moons reversal knocking around his insides and making him nauseous, as he tried to tap the rhythm of the sky and found it wrong wrong wrong! He fell to his knees, stopping himself with hands sunk into strange glowing black stuff all over the ground and everything else too, spitting and trying not to hurl as he closed his eyes again to get that sick black glow out of his head. He was NOT handling this well at all! He just had to hope Song was okay. "What in the world is going on..?"

Song left the guild building, holding a copy of the emergency job that had been sent out. She may be blind, but was still fully capable of reading all the information available on it. She wanted to do the job bur needed someone to do it with. It felt almost like her brothers presence was perfectly timed. He asked just the right question! "It's black magic that's gone everywhere and blackened everything! I don't know what blackened means, but it's black magic. We both know that black magic is trouble. Wanna take a job with me? An emergency was put out, nightmarish creatures are all over. There's likely even some near the guild outside of the barrier." She rushed over to her brother before slapping him on the chest with the paper. She was wearing her normal shirt, but was also wearing her hooded snow jacket, gloves, and body cover for her spider half. She didn't want to take a chance in the cold nearby affecting how she fought! No way. The girl should have looked scared, but she didn't have the sense to be that. The little girl had never really felt fear before, not really. Now she wanted to eagerly jump at the task of fighting against monsters. "The job requires at least two mages to work together in order for it to be accepted. I need you!" She didn't want her brother to say no, the sand blond girl was far too eager. She had full intentions to poke, prod, and harass her brother until he agreed to work with her.

Post by Inkormine Talea 24th October 2018, 9:21 pm

Just as he was getting that icky taste out of his mouth, Inkormine noticed movement approaching him from the edge of his vision. Dragging his hands out of the sticky black slimy-feeling but not actually snow, pushing up to fight or flee... when Song was there, talking and slapping something into his chest, talking about an emergency job and nightmarish creatures. "How did you-?" He started, then shook his head, shaking off the black snow with an ick face, and blinking a bit as his sight went from normal to black to glowy, a headache inducing flicker which got a pained groan out of him before he forced it to settle on just normal sight. Not the best but he was going to have to make do, with the celestial bodies acting up like this. "Blackened is a color thing, doesnt matter except it's going to make it a little harder for me to see, black magic is definitely this, something is wrong with the moon, Song. Its like its backwards and raining down this icky snow." He took a deep breath, then turned around towards the door. "We need to buy the guild some breathing room, then figure out what the heck is happening here. Something is messing with the celestial bodies themselves, and that is very, very bad." Honestly probobly something just a LITTLE beyond a couple of mages rated by the guild as C-Class, but that moon was a good third of his life, and he wasn't going to sit back and hope someone else sorted this out. Honestly if it kept up he wasn't going to even be standing for too long. "The rhythm is all messed up, its going to collapse..." He held his stomach as he bent over, shuddering all over again. "...Yeah, okay Song, lets do this. Run back inside for me to submit it? I need to get my shirt... and some heavier clothes." Damn, if only he had time to get some Xailang Root Tea into him to help calm down his stomach, but this was kind of a rush, he thought he could hear things outside the barrier now, and the spirit wolves that hung out around here didn't make noise.

The Battling Inksong on All Hallows Eve Empty Re: The Battling Inksong on All Hallows Eve

The small spider girl tried to hold back her excitement, but the jumping like movements from her spider half certainly made it a dead give away. She would get to go out and fight! It would be with her brother too. "Well the emergency thing went out to all the guilds I think. I doubt we're the only ones from our guilt to be going out fighting, let alone others. But being able to help despite our low levels is still really cool!" She grasped the paper as soon as it was handed back to her. The girl was feeling excitement well in her chest, a grin slowly growing on her face. "Okay, i'll be quick so you be quick too! We'll help fix the weird backwards thing." She puffed her young flat chest out a bit before rushing all of her legs back inside. It didn't take long to get back inside, nor to fill things out to sign them both up for the job. She nearly giggled after the paperwork was finished. Why? It meant she got to run outside to fight! But of course she would need to wait for her brother too. It was probably a dangerous job, that's why the job required at least two mages to work together for it. Still, it was hard to not feel excited.

She was born and trained for fighting. The curious girl loved research and learning and books, but beating the crap out of things was so rewarding. Song rushed out as soon as all the paperwork was finished, raising her arms in the air a bit after. The arm thing was mainly to try to calm and center herself a bit. She wasn't doing a good job with that, but at least she was trying. "no, you can do better!" She scolded herself a bit. What was that one thing one of the adults at the orphanage taught her to calm down? Take deep slow breaths. The young arachnid tried to do that, but ended up accidentally swallowing one of the black bits falling from the sky. She nearly gagged trying to cough it up, but at least she managed to get it out eventually.

The Battling Inksong on All Hallows Eve Empty Re: The Battling Inksong on All Hallows Eve

Post by Inkormine Talea 25th October 2018, 6:49 am

That was a pretty normal reaction from Song, Inky knew. She was trained for it, but the training had been so long (plus she may have some passion on her own for combat) that Song had a desire to fight, the young girl liked fighting, and while she wouldn't seek out a real fight just for fun, if one came her way she'd jump in with all eight feet and have fun with it. "That makes sense. The moon, something is wrong with it, that means this is much bigger then just us. All of Fiore, all of Earthland is going to be in trouble." Really, that was kind of intimidating by itself. Just a few months ago he hadn't even left his hometown, and now he was going to be facing down a threat with global repercussions? That was a jump, especially when the guilds own rating system didn't consider him to be that impressive either, in combat or even research.

Song rushing off gave hima  moment to turn and go back inside, hastily making hot threads to burn and scrape off the black snow-slime stuff from his legs, which already helped him feel better. That stuff was nasty, and he could feel it emanating the energy of the polluted moon. Speaking of which, this did feel like magic, not a freak natural disaster, although this was magic way beyond anything he'd ever felt or heard of except in the old stories of Zeref's time and the dragons. He wasn't sure how he could do anything about it right now, as he was. It was... a lot. But he shook off the glum feeling, he had to do what he could, now! The stronger guild members and the master were likely out all over, fighting and trying to fix this, leaving few of them likely back here at the guild hall to stop threats from doing anything. And at least he could fight too!

It wasn't long before Inkormine stepped outside, actually dressed now with a normal shirt under a thick jacket he'd gotten of a mild red color from a town, thin but somewhat warm gloves over his hands to allow him to move freely, hood pulled up even as his carapace steamed lightly for a moment, as at least the sun was still normal, if muted and hidden, and still loaning him its power. The ground snow stuff was still icky though, and he couldn't even think about touching the moon without a pang of nausea. He looked over to see Song, looking like she was trying to calm her nerves a little, the guild hall's main door sliding shut behind her... before she started having a coughing fit as Inky came over, crouching down a bit as she recovered. "You alright Song?" Then he saw the bits of black floating away from her and grimaced. "Ah, yeah, those are awful." He patted her back as he straightened up, looking out towards the barrier as he swore he picked out bits of flickering, glowing orange, like from flames, against the snow floating in the air. But the wolves around the guild hall glowed blue... "I think someone or something is approaching the barrier, there's light."

Song looked over at her brother with her pale blind eyes. She couldn't see things, but there was just something about turning to look at someone while talking to them or listening that seemed so natural. The young girl gave a smile, feeling her blood rushing and her legs tingle with excitement. "All of that might be true, but it means we get to be part of something bigger than ourselves. We get to decide to take part, we get to decide to help, and we can make a difference with everyone else."
The freedom of choice was something she enjoyed. This wasn't like their home city where your place in life was set by society rules and the whims of the wealthy. In this bigger world, you got to decide who you are and what you do. She loved that about here and that was one of the reasons why she wanted to defend it. This guild was also something important to her, not just the freedoms of being away from home. "Being in this guild has also given me freedoms to learn things I never could before. I wanna fight for that."

This wasn't like when she was being trained to battle without cause or reason besides birth. This time she did have a reason, it was her own. She believed in something for possible the first time in her life and was willing to work to defend it. The desert warrior girl gave a nod to her older and taller sibling, giving a smile. "I'm okay big brother, lets go meet those monsters head on." That's right, they couldn't do any fighting behind the barrier, nor let the spirit wolf things do everything.
The young girl ran off, quickly and quietly leaving the barrier. She could see a group of dark magic beings getting steadily closer as she continued on her route over. She stopped before getting too close, using sand colored threads to quickly weave herself a trap spell. Placing it onto the snow, she watched it become colorless before backing up a bit. She needed to trick them into activating it, so the girl planned to stand behind it a bit.

The next spell she wove was mainly to lure one of the creatures into touching the trap. White spider threads were woven into a spell, making a glowing white flat bladed star using white threads before launching the spell. It traveled a distance, hitting one of the approaching candle wolves. She was more than ready to weave up more attack spells, even as her current holy light spell was exploding on a creature's face.

The Battling Inksong on All Hallows Eve Empty Re: The Battling Inksong on All Hallows Eve

Post by Inkormine Talea 25th October 2018, 1:01 pm

Inky smiled at the way Song spoke, she sounded a good bit like his own thoughts. Made sense, they had grown up together, and while they kept secrets from each other they'd still spent a lot of time together, talking or just being there. Tended to make them very easily able to keep up with one another even after this year apart. "Thats right. Maybe we cant do the big stuff, but we can still help out, help everyone else." Then, there was her statement about the guild, giving her freedoms to learn things she couldn't before, which he could sympathize with. In their home town, everything had been restricted based on your place in society. And for her, trained as a secret assassin, it had to have been even more so.

"The guild has done a lot for me too, I understand. Lets fight for it together, and keep these creatures from harming our new home." Inky said, taking a step away so Song could move freely, following her as she darted away, towards the oncoming lights, smiling as he started swaying lightly along to a new rhythm, a limited one he'd never touched before, having always felt the connection to the moon most strongly, but now he was on the rhythm between the sun and the stars above, separate from the moons false movements.

Inky was only a moment behind his sister, but she was already stepping away from a fading thread patch of one of those traps of hers, and he saw her weaving together another spell, observing as he began tapping his legs along the ground and pressed his hands together, a small glow coming from his hands as he joined the suns flow with his arms, channeling as he called on a little extra power from above, the hum of the blade cutting along the air and into one of the wolves bringing a small smile to Inky's face, as his eyes glowed with the gentle yellow of the dawn's caring sunlight. Then his back leg pair stabbed down into the ground, calling the hammer of the harsh noon down as the magic circle appeared above a different Candle Wolf, then a bright yellow beam streaked down and smashed into the wolf, the flame of it's candle overwhelmed for a moment by the brilliant beam, the spiders smile getting a little more aggressive as the thing turned and rushed him, already starting to move to the side to keep it from interfering with Song as his hands, held together until now, pulled apart, rapidly unfurling five threads linked between his fingers, a wrist twist causing them to start tangling together before he flicked his right hand out, the threads on his left hand fingertips simply breaking off and twirling together as the whole thread burst into flame, and streaked out straight at the wolf, curving as Inkormine swung his arm hard, the wolf's sideways leap anticipated, so its side was caught by the burning whip, knocking it into the black snow as the whip dissipated, Inky already starting to prepare more spells as he turned his attention to the third wolf, which was about to go after one of the two spiders, hopefully not Song.

The Battling Inksong on All Hallows Eve Empty Re: The Battling Inksong on All Hallows Eve

Post by Guest 25th October 2018, 7:29 pm

While her brother fought against one candle wolf, she continued to go against the other one. More white threads were woven together, creating the sharp star spell again. She had more long range spells, but it was the best for the furthest attacks when it came to accuracy. She would use different ones after her target got closer. She watched them eagerly, launching the spell towards her speeding target. It hit the face again, temporarily blinding the creature this time.

She couldn't see the blindness, but she knew the explosions were bright and it had stopped. She planned to use this well, weaving red threads as quickly as she could. It became a spell that shaped itself as a red ball. "Let this hit your clothes!" Song shouted out to her brother before throwing it. If he didn't run away from it or out of the way of it in general than the speed boost spell should land fine. It had to be the clothes though, otherwise the spell would revert to a bunch of red spider silk.
But this wasn't the time to not pay attention to her target. She heard the sound of the trap activating, a multitude of tiny needles launching themselves at their target. She wove together her threads as fast as she could, making it in time to create a woven blade, tossing it at the candle wolf. She made one more and tossed it at the beast before it got too close for that to be practical. It was at that point she woke together bronze spiked knuckles on one of her hands.

With the limb ready, the little girl punched the beast as soon as it got close enough. It was easy to use and aim. Besides that? she didn't really have a plan, so she attacked it as it attacked her. While being nimble enough to move, she didn't have any real combat experience until that point. Sparring sessions, yes. Training? Years worth. This wasn't the same as real live combat. She had the training and knowledge, but not the experience that would allow her to best use it.
As such, between some punches she ended up getting hit by an electrical spell by the creature. The affects didn't immediately register, but Song started to panic after realizing what it had done. She had been stunned, currently totally incapable of movement. This to her was a very terrifying prospect. Now the prey she had almost taken down by herself could very well end up taking her down instead.

This wasn't how she imagined her first real battle to go. She was the well trained desert warrior. She wasn't supposed to make mistakes, the enemy shouldn't be able to get the upper hand! The arachnid had always imagined herself as a mighty warrior in the making. That the training she had received for so long had given her an invisible upper hand that would lead her through a path of perfect victories.
But feelings or thoughts on how things would go didn't mean that it would happen as such. An active confident and strong ego was sometimes the easiest ones to hit down, as they hadn't gotten that sort of assault before. She was used to her brother worrying, or others at the orphanage worrying before she had run away. That was something she had always brushed aside easily due to how willing and eager her instructor all sounded to get her on the battlefield.

Did that mean it really had been dangerous that entire time? The instructors had made it all seem like nothing would happen as long as you had been a good student. Were all of those words lies to get her and others to be more eager to risk themselves for a country that demanded they give away their identity? She didn't want that! She wanted to move, to prove to herself that she could keep fighting!
This was maddeningly frustrating and Song hated it.

The Battling Inksong on All Hallows Eve Empty Re: The Battling Inksong on All Hallows Eve

Post by Inkormine Talea 25th October 2018, 8:22 pm

    Mana 240/300

Inky stamped his feet down to warm them and continue his rhythm at the same time, prepping more magic as the candle wolf he was fighting staggered too its feet, watching him warily after the sudden barrage of pain he'd dropped on it. His smile faded some as he saw the other wolf coming towards him, these things were fast and tough, he didn't like it, since he didnt have very much real fighting experience himself, not to the ddeath, or indeed with animals. Just scrapes and brawls and even one time a legitimate duel with a pompous noble that he hadn't been smart enough to throw the duel so he'd had some fast talking to do to explain why a Celestial Dancer had a broken leg and several carapace fractures to Song. But that wasn't relevant right now, what was was the two magically empowered wolves breathing lightning at him wait what?!

Inky was suddenly being bore down on by two electric orbs, and he had to think fast. The only way he thought he couldd stop them was to rapidly repurpose a spell he'd been preparing as an improvised shield... Only issue was it's a dedicated lunar spell. He crossed his arms over his shoulders, closing his eyes and attuning himself to the moons wrong rhythm. The exhalation of night to redirect the incoming spells turned into something a little closer to a vomit of corrupted purple-black, but it at least went up and just... stopped the incoming balls. Wasn't supposed to do that but it'd have to do, especially with his stomach trying to beat him up after doing that. He looked up as his hands clapped together, the two wolves dashing to either side, so he'd need to fire both spells at seperate ones just to open enough of a gap to not get the shit chewed out of him... But then his feets rhythm was broken as he saw Song, twitching and twisting but immobile and not in control of herself, and the wolf rushing her, as the red sphere hit him and enchanted his clothes. As it prepped to leap, it was like he could see the future in his eyes. The wolf slamming into Song, bearing her down as it ravaged her throat, Song not recovering from the paralysis fast enough, and then... Blood on the black snow, immobile sister, red, red, red, BURNING GOLD.

Ink's hands moved almost on their own, the wolf leaping at his sister, only to suddenly jerk back and slam into the ground on its flaming leash as Inky, eyes glowing with fire, wrapped his whip around its neck and pulled the thing back and into the ground, a soft growl coming from him that sounded less angry spider and more the soft roar of the flames about to burn your house down. But then, as it came, the sound stopped and Inkormine's eyes cleared, too see the whip dissolving and the wolf stopped long enough for Song to shake off the paralysis, the wolf laying still as its candle guttered and died, the wolf starting to turn black as the snow around them... And then he fell forward, blown off his feet by two heavy, hot weights on his back, and then the pain of teeth chomping into both shoulders, making Inky scream as he was born into the snow, mouth full of nasty snow and shoulders burning where it touched the bites, the growls of the dogs filling his ears as he groped for something under his bag, unable to cast like this with the candle wolves on him, but he had another option...

The Battling Inksong on All Hallows Eve Empty Re: The Battling Inksong on All Hallows Eve

Post by Guest 25th October 2018, 9:09 pm

Song sprung into action, using the speed boost spell on herself after a brief bit of weaving the red thread into a spell. She landed it on her coat, so it activated fine. She used that bost to recover herself fast and start attacking. This time she attacked physically instead of with magic, rapidly punching one of the candle wolves that had bitten her brother until it burst. The other got off her sibling, but she sidestepped then charged at the creature.
The high amount of speed allowed her to physically fight a lot faster than she ever had been before. Right now she no longer felt bad for herself, nor confused. All that was on the girls mind was her brother protected her and got hurt because of her. She had to protect him, he couldn't use magic if he couldn't move. She couldn't either, but he knew that. Ink had known she had been helpless, that was why he risked himself to save her.

This was what siblings were for, right? This was what she told herself as she continued to move and punch, ignoring everything else around her. This nightmare was her enemy, it hurt her brother. It was hard to keep count, only that by the time the creature fell, her hands and fingers were starting to feel a little numb. This was a strange sort of wake up call she ended up getting about the dangers fighting really entailed.
If it had gone another way there was a chance she would have been swayed from fighting again. Her ego was still bruised, but now it could heal into a more sensible leveled shape. Well, as leveled as a hyper young girl could get. "Brother, we're done. Let's go home, get treated, shower, eat, and rest. It'll be okay, we'll both recover. Do you need help moving?"

Post by Inkormine Talea 25th October 2018, 9:24 pm

There was movement, and then suddenly some of the weight was off him, the sound of fist meeting flesh in a rapid barrage before the other weight got off of him, and suddenly he couldnt feel his arm as there was a twinge and he heard something fall into the snow, followed shortly by a bigger something hitting the ground. Then, a soft crunch, and his sisters voice speaking above him. It took a second for him to respond, and the first response was a small pained groan, before he got his off hand under him and pushed up a little, legs sliding under him to push him back to his feet. "Ow... Wolves hurt." He said, rather obviously, as he managed to stand up. He wasn't actually that majorly injured, just, he'd never been gnawed on by space wolves and had the injuries pressed into evil moon powder that felt like fire in his arms. It was not a nice feeling, at all.

Inky wanted to take up Song on that heading home, but he needed to take a moment first, and he did, looking around, but he didn't see anything else suspicious, except one of the ghost wolves padding up, looking at him for a moment before gesturing with a nose back towards the guild hall, then padding back into the snow of white and black. Inky smiled slightly at that, looked like the wolves had it from here, at least. "Yeah, alright Song. Lets go back." He said, turning towards the guild hall and putting on a brave show for Song, although he couldn't move, or really feel, his right arm. That couldn't be great news for him. but it was fine, it'd be okay. Silver wolf had lots of books, he was sure they must have a great doctor too. And he was here, with his sister. So really, this night could have been a lot worse. Although that damn snow burn was still going.
