"Do you know how terrifying ghosts are?"

Spectra had recently taken on an A-Rank mission, how she came to do that when she was so underqualified? The answer was simple really, she stole it. It was a busy day in the Fairy Tail guildhall, the barflies demanded their beer, the socialities chitted and chatted, talking each other's ears off, Spectra, however, had her eyes on the prize. A mission with a large reward! She didn't really care about the village in need that she'd be helping, that part sounded dreadful, but once she saw the jewel it gave her heart nearly jumped from her chest and she had seventy-five thousand reasons to take on the job! The only question was how could she do it! Swipe the flier from the board without anyone noticing? Secrecy wasn't really her forte, so instead of creating some grand master plan she decided to do the crime in plain sight and just hope by the time everyone noticed it would be too late, and it worked! Successfully taking the flier she skipped out of the guildhall and into the streets of Magnolia.

Then Spectra hired the nearest carriage driver she could find and in an instant, she was on her way to The River Village. Overjoyed that she had gotten away with it, she only hoped she hadn't climbed into shoes she couldn't fill but one way or another she was going to finish this job because that jewel was calling her name. "So mister, do you know anything about The River Village?" Spectra pondered, talking to her coach driver who seemed startled at the fact she'd even look his way. In truth, she didn't really love the idea but it didn't bother her and it would be nice to know more about the location she was traveling too. "Well I'm sorry to disappoint ma'am but uh, I'm afraid all I know is rumors. Talk of some real bad people swarming the poor place. Are you going there to help?" He seemed almost concerned for Spectra, but it also seemed like he wasn't telling her everything. She shrugged it off and decided it wasn't worth paying attention too. "Well yes, as a matter of fact, I am." She was very proud of this, though she didn't like helping people she did enjoy the praise it got her!

Continuing on their journey Spectra just looked out the window, watching the terrain change as they rode closer and closer to her destination. By this time surely someone from Fairy Tail had noticed her missing along with the job, and maybe they even decided to go after her, but it was too late! She was going to do this and no one was going to stop her! Soon the carriage came to a dramatic halt and immediately Spectra knew that something was wrong. A group of five men had approached the carriage, they wore light armor and carried multiple swords each, but it was obvious they were just grunts but that didn't make them any less scary to the driver! "Whose in there and what the hell are they doing trying to get into River Village?" The leader of the pack questioned, the driver attempted to speak but all that came from his mouth was a few unidentifiable noises, it seemed he had never been in a situation like this and was paralyzed with fear. "Useless!" Spectra mumbled under her breath, something she'd learn to regret doing.

"Did you hear that boss?" One of the lackeys asked, in which the leader responded, pointing toward the carriage door. Spectra knew what this meant, and she wasn't going to back down so easily. Her body went limp and lifeless, like a cold hollowed shell with nothing inside, and from her body came her spirit. An identical look-alike of her! Except slightly transparent and with a few more abilities. Her body defenseless she had a plan and she could only hope that it would work. Flying out of the carriage her spirit grew so large that it looked like a giant. The men shouted as she grew, blowing a raspberry at them. "IM GONNA CRUSH YOU!" She screamed out, lifting her foot as if she was about to stomp on them. She honestly expected this to scare them away but it seemed they wanted to put up a fight. Their swords rose into the air and fired at her, of course going right through. They were shocked but their leader came to a realization. "Maybe if we can't hurt her, she can't hurt us!" And with that Spectra felt defeated. Her giant spirit bursting into tears. "How could you call my bluff like that! My plan was perfect!" She whined and the men were disturbed, they really expected a lot more from her but now she was angry. "FINE!" Sticking her hands out a few small ghosts flew from her palms, making their way towards the leader of the troublesome trio. Once they had latched on she snapped her fingers and BOOM! They exploded, leaving the man as nothing but a puddle of blood and guts. "Serves you right!" She said, her spirit shrinking and flying back into her real body as she regained consciousness.

The driver was dumbfounded but after a few minutes, he recovered, well sort of. "I'm s-orry b-but I c-an't t-ake y-ou a-ny f-urther." Spectra did not like the words that left his mouth. How could he do this? She saved his life and what does she get in return? Nothing. This is what being nice got you, stranded in the middle of a random village to fend for yourself! Spectra wasn't going to allow this! She couldn't and so she did the only thing she could think of. Sent a ghost into the man's body in order to possess him. "Now, take me into the village and don't stop this time. For anyone." Spectra demanded as she got back into the carriage. She hoped the rest of this mission would be a lot smoother but something told her this wish was not coming true.

Post by Aven Alveron 2nd August 2019, 11:11 pm

The wind above the clouds was frigid, as always, an observation Aven had shared with himself countless times over the past few years. Flying wasn't Aven's preferred method of transportation over long distances, especially during the daytime; it was simultaneously too far from the ground to enjoy the beauty of nature, and too taxing on his concentration for him to relax. The speed was second to none, of course, and on this particular day, there was another beneficial element: stealth.

Unlike many of his closest friends, such as Aviel and Markus, Aven didn't have a stitch of Shadow magic. Coincidentally, he'd found that it's use clashed with his nature, and made even the simplest of control over darkness far more taxing than would ever be practical. Thus, his best method of stealth- or the best he'd yet developed- was suppressing his magical aura and trailing a target from outside their range of vision. This method only tended to work outside of busy areas, but for his current business, it was all but perfect.

Clouds brushed the tips of his wings as he descended lightly below the white giants to observe his ward. She wasn't exactly a target, but the opposite: a new guild member, by the name of Spectra Vondergeist. She was an eccentric one, a loose cannon in a tightly fitted outfit, and if Aven's intuition was as sharp as usual, there'd be at least some measure of trouble wherever she set foot. It was a trend he'd noticed among the new recruits of Fairy Tail, a certain penchant for danger. He'd been hopeful that the girl's obvious Noble upbringing would curb any rash decisions, if not by intelligence alone, but earlier that very day, she'd nabbed an A-rank posting off the board, and left without a word. As normal, Aven had been keeping a loose eye on her, creating a kind of mental profile like he did for all new arrivals; the guild had been forced Dark before, and he wasn't about to let a Dark Wizard slip through the cracks again.

Luckily, at the moment, his impression of Spectra wasn't that of any kind of malicious intent, but a glaring overconfidence. Judging by her level of magic power, he'd venture the young woman would be more at home tackling the dangerous end of C-rank jobs, perhaps pushing her limits with a B-rank. The River Village job was posted recently, and Aven had considered taking it himself, as a small getaway from networking with various Wizards for the assault on Caster's realm. Needless to say, there was little choice in the matter at this point, and he'd let Mura know before he left that he'd be accompanying Spectra on the job, and to inform the Village that they'd be on their way immediately. Easier, he thought, to leave out the detail that it hadn't been an agreement between Spectra and him to tackle the job together, but seeing as she'd be disciplined for taking on a job she didn't have clearance for, Aven figured it would just be a silent favor for the new guildie, like a welcoming present.

River Village, it seemed, was also in the business of welcoming, as a group of armed men approached the Wagon that Spectra was riding in. Once again, that twinge of annoyance rose in the back of his mind, as he couldn't sense their magic power so long as his own was suppressed. He made a mental note to research an improvement to his suppression technique to overcome such a crippling flaw. Squinting, he could barely make out what was happening down below from his ethereal perch behind the large cumulonimbus: there seemed to be five of them, openly armed with weapons of some sort, and they were obviously less than cordial, as they'd blocked the path. To his surprise, Spectra emerged from the Wagon, and grew to gigantic proportions, her voice loud enough for him to hear; though, it became quickly obvious this change was only cosmetic in nature, and shortly after the bandits came to the same realization, the large Spectra had a small tantrum. Aven let out a small sigh, steeling his resolve to make sure Spectra wasn't greatly injured or killed on this job.

It was then, that the situation became a bit more serious. Ghosts flew from Spectra's massive palm, and exploded on impact with the leader of the five. Aven immediately stiffened; he knew the look of a lethal spell. He dropped his suppression, and made the executive decision that the time for observation was over. His body transformed into light particles, blending into the rays of the midday sun as he dashed at an incredible speed down from the clouds to land where the other four bandits were standing dumbfounded. He materialized from thin air, and with a small motion of his hand, a black tendril rose from the ground and swept all four of the men off the path with an overwhelming force, knocking them immediately unconscious and sprawled along the side. He glanced down, where the remains of the man Spectra had attacked were scattered intermittently, his lips a grim line. The loss of life, no matter how foul the person, was a great tragedy...

Aven lifted his head, trying to brush the matter off for the moment. He'd have to speak more thoroughly with Spectra, if he was going to truly gauge what kind of person she was. The Carriage Driver was mortified at the scene, and began to speak nervously with Spectra, who replied vehemently in return, before showing another disregard for courtesy: a ghost flew into the Carriage Driver, and his eyes glazed over. Aven clicked his tongue at the act, it was unbecoming of a proper wizard to abuse one's magic. He approached the carriage door, patting the driver on the shoulder as he passed the man, a small golden glow surrounding the man as the Ghost was forcibly shunted out of him, and he would regain his senses. Aven opened the door, adopting a light smile. "It looks like someone's been getting into a bit of trouble, hm?"

    The Bodygaurd Tenor

"Do you know how terrifying ghosts are?"

Spectra couldn't believe what was happening! It seemed every time she was ahead in the game someone came along to foil her plans and the worst part was she knew this guy. From the first day she met him at the guildhall she had pegged him for a creep, but due to his gentleman-like appearance she wrote him off, this time it wasn't the same. He had followed her! Clearly he had some sort of obsession, it just went to show you can't judge a book by it's cover. He had released her hold on the carriage driver, allowing him to get free, and when he opened the door Spectra's face was one of disgust. "I can't believe you! The nerve. Why are you even here? UGH!" She was clearly flustered at the situation, aggravated that all of her hard work was for nothing and most of all angered that he had followed her all this way! Did he not have a life? Anything better to do than stalk a poor innocent little girl. It was pathetic really!

Seeing how the man, who she didn't even know the name of, was blocking that door she got out of the other one, stomping over to the man. Spectra shot a devilish glare at the driver who only stayed because with them so close he was unable to turn around, something Spectra didn't acknowledge or care about, she was sick of him, sick of both of them. Now face to face with her pursuer she crossed her arms, looking him up and down. "You had no right to do that, you're not even cute! Yuck." Spectra said, maneuvering her parasol above her head as she began to levitate. "Anyway, if you don't mind, I'll be leaving and you BETTER not follow me." For Spectra this was no mere suggestion it was a demand and it was going to be met.

Having grown up privileged, she bossed her entire house staff around, the workers that waited on her hand and foot, and to her, this man was no different. He was nothing in this world, a mouse in the food-chain when compared to her. At the very bottom of the pyramid while she ruled on top of it. To Spectra it didn't matter how much magic power he had, what rank he was considered, or even any of his world positions because in the end she and her family was and always would be superior. But, she also knew that words alone weren't going to stop him. After all, knowledge isn't power, power is power!

Flying a little higher she released even more ghosts from her palms, around five, and they flew toward the man! If they happened to make contact they would make him incredibly depressed about himself, even if only for a minute or so but that was all Spectra needed to make her escape! Not keen on following the path in case that pesky pervert tried following her again she made her way for the forest right beside it, flying just below the tree tops in order to hide herself from the sky. In theory it was a good plan, but Spectra had bitten off a lot more than she could chew and she was about to find that out very quickly.

It seemed that when Spectra had killed their leader his underlings fled, going back to camp to report what they had saw and so when Spectra had wondered into the massive forest surrounding the River Village, they were waiting for her. A horde of angry men with flying swords! "She's the one who killed the boss!" One of them shouted, their swords aiming toward Spectra who was shocked, she did NOT expect this. Overwhelmed by sheer numbers, their swords fired and she found herself pinned to a tree due to their blades. She struggled to break free but couldn't manage to with her frail feminine arms. Angry, she had no choice but to use her magic, but she couldn't possibly take out all of them... it was no use but she wasn't going to give up.

Flying from her body the ghosts took their aim among the crowd and a few of the men were put to sleep, screaming as soon as they were touched. It seemed they were having frightening nightmares, but their magic wasn't weakened and she wasn't able to stop them all. Around seven men remained and they were furious. "Kill her." One of them said, and Spectra panicked! Bursting into tears as she often always did. "YOU CAN'T KILL ME! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE! MY DADDY'S RICH HE CAN PAY YOU ALL!" She cried out, pleading in desperation. The men only laughed hysterically, but they were also somewhat intrigued by the situation.

"Well how much does he think you're worth princess?" One of the braver swordsman questioned and Spectra knew the answer without a thought! "MILLIONS!" She screamed. "NOW LET ME DOWN THIS INSTANT!" She had never given up trying to escape, grabbing onto the swords handles in an attempt to pull them from the sturdy bark but it was much like Excalibur, the sacred sword in stone, except she was no King Arthur. "Whatever you say..." One of them called out from below, the swords falling and Spectra with them! "I DIDN'T MEAN THIS AHHHHHHH-" She shrieked before she came crashing down into a bush, her parasol landing on top of her. When she emerged from the bush she brushed off her clothes and tried to collect herself but they had already put her in chains by now, ready to take her to someone much higher in position than them. Spectra of course was appalled, they tricked her! She genuinely thought they were going to take her bribe!

"Where is that creep when you need him." She grumbled angrily. The men who had taken her prisoner were confused but ignored it. "Come with us. Boy are we gonna get rewarded for this." They bragged about their new capture but Spectra didn't find it that amusing. She was sick of this already and couldn't believe their barbaric actions! No wonder River Village wanted to get rid of them.

The Bodygaurd Empty Re: The Bodygaurd

Post by Aven Alveron 10th August 2019, 11:57 am

Spectra was a feisty one, that was for certain; the petite girl scowled as she stormed out of the carriage, likely antagonized by his light demeanor. It wasn't entirely unexpected, Aven had known he was in for a good deal of difficulty reigning in such a wild card; though, in that respect, it wasn't exactly his first rodeo. His plan was primarily to observe, and wait for her to get in over her head, to allow her to learn from her mistakes before he stepped in to ensure the safety of his guild mate. To that end, things weren't going terribly, besides the reveal of a violent tendency in the young woman. Aven did laugh softly as she made her brazen declaration that he wouldn't follow, but he didn't comment, as obvious as it was that he wouldn't be following her orders.

Spectra seemed to sense that insubordination, as she would likely call it, and fired off a quick bout of magic at him, before flying off into the nearby woods. The Ghosts she summoned whirled around him, attempting to enact some kind of magic, which he surmised was contact-based, as they repeatedly attempted to bash themselves into him. Their efforts were rewarded by full frontal battery into a barrier of light he summoned in response, halting their progress a few feet away from him. Aven watched Spectra closely as she flew off into the distance, making a mental note of her direction, then turned to address the Carriage Driver. "Please excuse my guild-mate's behavior: if you send word to the Fairy Tail Guild in Magnolia, I'm sure they'll be happy to compensate you for the misfortune you've been caused."

The Carriage Driver was still reeling from recovering his senses, having been previously taken over by one of Spectra's ghosts. Aven assumed the magic currently circling him was of the same type, or at least akin, and since his protections hadn't activated, he could safely rule them out as an attack spell. Regardless, they would be a nuisance if he allowed them to continue; after summoning a pair of ethereal wings, with a short breath in, Aven absorbed the magic energy around him, robbing the ghosts of the magic power they were comprised of. The spectres faded into thin air, and Aven took off without another word, trusting that the Carriage Driver could make his own decisions.

Ahead of him, in the forest, he was picking up a mass of magical signatures. One was familiar, belonging to Spectra, but the rest were foreign, and he shook his head softly as the wind whipped around him, ruffling his white silky pants and unbuttoned jacket. Spectra was going to run straight into them in her little huff, wasn't she? There was something to be said for her situational awareness, but he supposed that would come with experience. For the time being, Aven decided to sit back and watch, keeping his magic at the ready and within range. If he needed to, he could protect her with a powerful shield from the hundred meter observational distance he was maintaining, but for the moment, he would let Spectra handle herself.

The Sword Wizards were not happy, to say the least. It seemed the man she'd blown to pieces was one of their leaders, and they didn't take kindly to her personal brand of justice. Another wave of ghosts put some of them out of commission, but it wasn't enough. Aven made a small note; if he got the chance, he'd advise her to develop an area of effect spell, for exactly these types of situations. Again, it was a matter of experience, one she may not have previously encountered: a simple phrase that held incredible weight on any battlefield, 'Numbers Kill'. No matter how strong an individual is, without area of effect attacks, they can be easily outnumbered and overwhelmed when alone.

At the moment, Spectra was getting by with a ransom plea. Not bad, taking advantage of their greed to buy time. The sword wizards, of course, weren't complete pushovers that would allow her a chance to easily escape, and kept her under restraint, hauling her off further into the woods. Aven's hand twinged in annoyance, only willpower stopping him from approaching and annihilating the captors: even if she was a newer member, she was a member of Fairy Tail nonetheless, and Aven didn't take kindly to those who threatened his guild mates. If it weren't for the fact Spectra had gotten them an easy lead to the fools base, he may not have been so reserved, but he kept his composure. Aven had learned a bit of observational reconnaissance from Aviel, ill suited as his magic type was for the task, and he recalled one of the primary lessons of the field, spoken many times by the Seraphim: "The moment you think you should reveal yourself, is two moments too soon." Patience was a virtue, one that Aven had tempered over his lifetime, and he put it to good use here.

The Sword Wizards dragged Spectra through the forest, chains and all, to a small encampment near the center of the woody area, only a few miles from the Village. Aven, on the other hand, trailed a good distance away, ensuring he had proper line of sight and magic in case the ruffians tried anything. It wasn't an incredibly large encampment, but it could accommodate thirty people at minimum, and that was not a number to scoff at in the wizarding world. Keeping his magical presence concealed, he wondered to himself whether they'd taken notice of his magical presence earlier: it would complicate things if they made the connection that he and Spectra were connected, and they could possibly try to use her as a hostage against him. If they wisened up to a plan like that, he'd have no choice but to step in full force, and that could ruin any chance of Spectra learning a lesson from this encounter. If she wanted to become a successful wizard, it was important that she know her limits, because there wouldn't always be someone to bail her out of trouble. Aven, himself, had found that out the hard way.

"Do you know how terrifying ghosts are?"

Spectra was fed up with the entire situation, luckily they thought that she was valuable enough to take to their superiors and kept her alive and well! As she was in magic restricting chains being paraded through the forest, her captors talked of their base, rambling on, and on, and on about their group "The White Hand" Spectra couldn't help but laugh at the terrible name. If you wanted enemies to fall to their knees and beg for mercy when your group was just mentioned, giving it such a silly ridiculous name like that wasn't the way to do it. The fire mages didn't know what she was laughing about it and with fireballs in hand they threatened her.

"What are you up too." One of the men said, trying to intimidate her with his deep voice. "None of your business." Spectra said disgusted turning away as if looking at him would give her some kind of disease. It was a lot like dealing with a teenage mean girl and the men obviously had some problems in school. Fire lit in their hands and they threatened to burn her before one of the smarter men stopped them. “She’s worth more unharmed.” They all quickly came to this realization, which boosted Spectra’s arrogance and confirmed the thought that she would come out of this mess alive. Having no choice but to forge ahead through the forest and to their headquarters, because not liking her attitude was no reason to kill her. For the rest of the trip, Spectra was determined to keep her mouth closed and her ears open, so that she could find out information about this White Hand faction of theirs.

They discussed openly, as if Spectra was too young and stupid to understand what was actually going on, which couldn’t have been further from the truth. “Aye, when we get back to base we’ll hand her off to the trio and wait for Lulu to be back.” One of the men said, Spectra pretty much had pieced together who most of the people were, it wasn’t like they were talking in code or anything. The trio was obviously their superiors but Lulu was their leader. “What do you think they’ll do with her?” Another of the fire mages asked. “Well if her story checks out, probably hold her for ransom.” Spectra let out a small sigh of relief, at least they weren’t going to kill her.

“Lulu’s going to want compensation for all the damage she's done. I don’t think a bit of jewel is going to cut it. Let’s just hurry and get to the village.” This man was gunning to kill her, why? Spectra didn’t really know. Blowing bad guys up was a victimless crime! “Are you kidding me? Look at that crown on her head, she has to be worth millions.” She didn’t appreciate being treated like this, her net worth being discussed right in front of her. Besides, they were wrong. She was worth a lot more as the crown Princess of Transylvania and these numbers were almost offensive. She knew that she shouldn’t try and fight back but it was against her nature, they were basically ignoring her, which she hated.

She was annoyed! Why were they pretending she didn’t exist and where the hell was that wannabe gentleman! Shouldn’t he be saving the damsel in distress. It was strange but, of all the things these men had done this is what set her off.  “STOP TALKING ABOUT ME LIKE I’M NOT HERE!” She shrieked, attempting to move her arms but the chains on her wrists quickly stopped her. “Don’t interrupt us.” One of the men said, raising his arm back and covering it in flames to teach her a lesson in obedience. Spectra winced, preparing for the pain but it didn’t come.

In seconds, the entire forest was covered in a thick fog. You couldn’t even see your hands in front of you, much less which way you were going. It was a river village after all, and where there was water there could always be fog! Meanwhile, Spectra had learned to act fast, moving the chains in front of her the man hit those instead of her and in return she was free. It was only when she flew above them that they realized it was too late. Holding out her palms several ghosts flew from them, flying into nearby rocks and trees as they threw themselves at her attackers who were dumbfounded by the mysterious fog. “Hahahahahahah!” She couldn’t help but laugh, that annoying high-pitched cackle that spoke for her ‘you tried’ at the now knocked out men.

Flying above the fog to get a good view of her surroundings, far away in the distance, she saw a golden glow and she knew exactly who it was. She was very angry with him but… if anything this mission had taught her that she didn’t need him at all. The world just worked in her favor! So with both her dignity and confidence back she flew through the sky until shining lanterns light pierced through the fog and exposed the village, where their base was supposedly located according to her previous captors. “Now, if I was an evil group where would my hideout be?” Spectra thought out loud, with a finger to her lip before a light-bulb went off in her head. “Someplace abandoned!”

The village wasn’t that large and when she asked some of the locals they told her of only one abandoned building, a rather large farm on the edge of the river that was left behind during a terrible flood, it seemed the land never recovered and crops just couldn’t grow anymore. Following the directions, the villager gave her in just a few minutes she was facing the front of a barn with a giant white hand painted over the wood but when she went to open the door, no one was there! They must have seen her coming… this just kept getting weirder and weirder.
