A Shopping Trip in the City

Kyll walked into the Karakuri City curious about all the spices she could find for her new recipe. She couldn't wait to see what show the guild what she had baked for them. Each step she took the bells on her rope centered on her obi rang. She pushed her glasses back and smiled nodding happily to all of the people in the community. She made her way to the bazaar and stood there fixing her obi and pulling out a cigarette. She lit it up and walked through the small crowd. I need ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and maybe something that tastes a lot like all spice but a little sweeter, Kyll thought looking into space. She made a mental note of her check list and she would imagine the list right in front of her written out in yellow lettering. Most of the time it worked, but today it seemed to be a bit fuzzy. Kyll was having a hard time since the exam. Her mind seemed to be busy with other thoughts she couldn't get out of her head.

"Ma'am?" A voice caught her attention as she turned. She was already at the spices tent. Kyll was amazed she was in a daze for that long. "Can I help you?"

Kyll nodded. As she did this her pig tails moved in front of her and then swerved behind her. She had the same fox faced, closed eyes look and smile. "Yes.. I would like ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and some sort of spice that is far better than allspice." Kyll looked through. The sweet scent of the cardamom hit her. She looked at that. "Do you recommend cardamom?"

"No... I recommend this.." The merchant picked up a silk purse and put it in Kyll's hands.

Kyll took a smell of the spice in the purse. The scent in itself was very pungent and it was very sweet. Kyll couldn't get enough of this scent. "Oh my.. This is just... Heaven. I love it." Kyll said with a happy smile. "What is it?"

"Well ma'am, it's a secret really. It's a great spice, but use it sparingly. If you put too much in there. It will turn your skin pink," the merchant said. She took out a picture of a boy. "This is my son. I used it in one of his favorite curry dishes and he snuck in behind me and put too much in there. It was so funny, I just had to take a picture." The picture was of a young boy who wore a sleeveless white shirt and black shorts. His skin was a fluorescent magenta. He seemed to be very mad.

Kyll giggled and nodded. "Is there anything I can cut it with so that the effects are not there." The two continued their talk of spices and then she mentioned what she was baking finally. "Oh ma'am... It's going to be a beautiful spice cake."

Samual began walking around the mall, his doll, Emily, sat on his shoulder like always."What to buy, what to buy?" he chanted in wounder. He rarely left the guild house unless it was for a mission, so he wasn't used to being in the mall. He was here because his food supplies was running low, and he didn't feel like muching off of the guild. "So Emily, what kind of food would you like to have stocked at the house?" he asked the doll, treating her like she was still his little sister. "Oh, i know, i bet you want some chips." he said picking up a bag and putting it in the cart.

As they began to walk out of the store, after paying of course, he saw someone in the shop across the hall. "Well Emily, look who it is." he told her, begining to walk towards the area. He wasn't sure of the woman's name, but, he did know that she was from the same guild as he. "Hello ma'am."he spoke, bowing his head in front of her with a kind hearted smile.

Kyll looked over her shoulder to see Samual and his doll together. She smiled happily with the same look as she got her spices. She handed the merchant the jewel. "Here you are ma'am. Thank you so much. I can't wait to try this out." She then looked down at Samual's cart. Much to her surprise she saw that he was carrying out junk food. Kyll fought the urge to say something and looked back up at Samual. "Hi there.. I know you're a new member... I'm Kyll Vie." She smiled happily. "It's nice to meet you. I'm usually back at the guild greeting new members as they come in, but today I wanted to make a cake celebrating my rank up." Kyll tilted her head and crossed her arms holding the bags of spices in her hands. "What's your name?"

"You're Kyll Vie?" The merchant asked her.

Kyll nodded. "Yes I am... May I help you?"

The lady got out of her seat and ducked to where Kyll couldn't see her. After a couple of seconds flew by, the lady jumped back up with a novel in her hand. "A man came by and told me to hand this to you..."

Kyll nodded and took the book. The book was titled Adventures of the Fox and Fortune Teller: A Test of Honesty. Kyll's eyes opened immediately when she saw the author of the book, Fleindrich. She flipped the book over and the signature Sprinting Fox mark was on it. "Did this man give you a name?"

"No but he told me that everything you would need to know is written in that book also everything you needed to do," the merchant smiled. "Enjoy your day."

Kyll read the summary on it. "Sorry..." Kyll said smiling and closing her eyes again. "I know this author... He usually writes very good romance novels, but it seems like he's switched over to action."
