Most of the time, when the Magic Council he could get past the various odd jobs. He's probably researched into a lot of suspected criminals only to find out they weren't criminals, just extremely weird individuals. The number of people who were simply just eccentric and allowed to live in the world astounded Evan. However, this is where he drew the line.
Waking up this morning, after a stakeout the previous night in Rose Garden, he woke up in a hotel room that he was moved to. In the grand scheme of things, he was asked to simply research the potential gang activity within the city. However, it turned out to be nothing more than a midnight shuffleboard group getting a little rowdy. It wasn't even senior citizens playing shuffleboard. It was people around his age. After the extreme disappointment that he felt, he woke up in the hotel room with a pale blue notification in front of his face.
Grabbing the screen as a physical entity, it would manifest into a tablet as he read the details. Everyone has a line that they draw towards the jobs that they are supposed to do and while you should always do your best to help the needy, this job was his breaking point. Wanting to scream into his hands, the young man would summon another non-physical screen as he ran a search of the area. There were plenty of other mages in the area so why were they just telling him about this?
The job was to make sure the teddy bears with stuffed enough so they felt nice to hug. That's it. The Magic Council sent him on this job. Not some guild. But, the actual Magic Council. Apparently, the bears were so big that they were suspicious of bombs. But, who the actual fuck would put bombs in them. Letting out a muffled scream into his pillow, Evan would tap a random mage in the area and send them a notification that would manifest in front of their face. It was the equivalent of a pop-up ad, but worse because it never left your field of vision. This person probably was stupid enough to accept (especially when pressing decline alerted the Council that you accepted the mission) so when they did, a prompt of the details of the mission and its location would follow suit. He'd make sure that this person would do the job though and follow them, but probably invisible or something along those lines.
