Rank: 100y
Player Requirements: 1H / 3S | 10 Max players.
All members must be in the same guild. Non-guild members can tag along so long as they understand that the Reward goes to that guild. Guildless character teams (Official or unofficial) may establish a Trophy Hall residence to store trophy rewards from Monster Hunt jobs.
Job Requirements: 65 total posts. 525 words per post.
Job Description:
Location- Anywhere not a major town/city or Sea.
There is a standing bounty out for Legendary animals. Normal mundane animals that have grown and evolved over time perhaps through a bit of magical exposure into larger apex creatures that dominate the entire ecosystem they reside in, pushing out the natural order of things and making life in the area revolve around them or devastating it entirely.
These rare creatures are scattered throughout Earthland, especially in countries with less civilization.
This is the hunt for a Legendary Bear.
The hunt starts when rumors of a Legendary Bear start spreading in monster hunting circles, a bear so large that it can swallow a whole family all at once.
Spend at least 20 posts building up the job / accepting it, traveling, and tracking the bear.
The presence of a Legendary Bear usually means a huge spike in bear populations, with increasing violence and aggressiveness of bears the closer they get to the Legendary Bear, but they generally avoid civilized areas aside from unfortunate mountain cabins or isolated mountain villages.
After the 20 posts, the player(s) roll 1 monster die per post.
Weak:
"Small" Bear (Size of a horse): Takes 5 S-rank hits to take down. Delivers S-rank melee claw attacks or H-rank melee bite attacks. Charges at 30 m/s in straight lines. Climbs really well.
Normal:
"Medium" Bear (Size of a Short Bus): Takes 10 S-rank hits to take down. Delivers H-ranked Melee claw attacks or HH-ranked Melee bite attacks. Charges at 40 m/s in straight lines. Tends to just knock down any trees, but it's claws can dig right into stone and claw its way up sheer cliffs.
Strong:
"Large" Bear (Size of a Double Decker bus, +1/2 that additionally long): Takes 15 S-rank hits to take down. Delivers HH-ranked melee claw attacks or HHH-ranked melee bite attacks. Charges at 60 m/s in straight lines. Can race up sheer cliffs and bulldoze trees just by walking past without care. It could easily devour someone whole.
Boss:
Huge Bear (Size of a school bus and a half long, four school buses tall on all fours): Takes 20 S-rank hits to take down. Delivers H3-ranked melee claw attacks or H4 ranked melee bite attacks. Charges at 80m/s in straight lines. Can scale cliffs with ease if it can't just walk up them. It's bites may casually devour non-huge targets whole.
After five Huge Bears are rolled:
The Legendary Bear:
A colossal bear that while on all fours stands as tall stands as tall as a football field is long, three football fields long from head to short tail.
It takes 20 H-rank hits to take down.
It delivers H7-ranked melee claw attacks and H10-ranked melee bite attacks, though it's bites could casually devour car-sized targets whole.
Reward:
Trophy-
Legendary Bear Head: This massive bear head is quite the center piece. Would require a huge trophy hall to fit it and/or would require some design choices to work around it.
Tapping into remnant primal forms of magic within the bear's head the victor(s) could visit this trophy and meditate to tap into the Legendary Bear's spirit and bond with it.
Bonding with it allows them to take one of the following:
Primal Bear Form-
You can cause your body to painfully break and tear to morph into the form of a humanoid bear, increasing your size to one comparable to a van or otherwise roughly quadrupalling your size. If you already have large forms it instead increases by 20% height.
This gives a 75% boost to strength, speed, and durability. In return however your spells deal 75% less damage. The semi-hand semi-paw claws you have now prevent the use of weapons that require any sort of fine control over. Large axes or hammers may work fine, but bows, guns, and swords are likely out of the question.
Instead you have a thick hide, thick bones, thick fur, strong jaws, and powerful teeth and claws. After every 3rd post the primal bear heals equal to 25% of the total damage taken. (100 damage becomes 75. 10 damage becomes 7.5. Once 75, it is no longer 100. So the next value is not 50, but 56.25) A bestial rage clouds your mind making you act on aggression and violent impulses, though sanity remains to an extent.
Lasts until you revert back. Transforming deals 25% of your total HP in damage. Transforming back deals that again. Otherwise transformation is free.
This can't work on individuals who already have inhuman racial characteristics (Demons, Angels, ect)
OR:
Free bear-tooth necklace. One of the bear's teeth when removed shrinks in your hands down to a wearable size automagically coming with a chain to wear around your neck. This free item grants you a fraction of the Legendary Bear's strength, giving a passive +25% strength boost. It grows or shrinks to remain appropriately sized.
By stabbing yourself with the tooth this can be boosted to 50% for 5 posts at the cost of 5% HP damage. No cooldown, but each additional stab lasts 1 post shorter and costs 2% more HP per stab. Multiple stabs don't increase strength any more than the 50%, just keep it going longer.
