Akeldama was not ready for this job. For one she was still getting used to being fucking six feet for some random ass reason. And she was drunk as all fuck. It was kind of hard to walk without wobbling. It’d just been about a day since she’d done this to herself… It was hard enough for teenagers still growing. Never mind… Well… This.

This was too much. Way too much of a change, too quickly. Perhaps she could have tried to change herself back… But there was no certainty that she’d be able to actually change herself back to the proper age. And not back to a goddamn ten year old.

The biggest change though was that she was in different cloths than the ones she’d arrived in… Having had to actually steal some cloths during an outing with Veve where this madness had happened. They didn’t quite fit her perfectly. But they were clean.

Her hair looked practically brand new as well… that was mostly in part that with this growth spurt, her hair had grown as well. So she’d just cut off all the old gross stuff. But she still hadn’t bathed. She really didn’t trust the idea of getting naked in a bathroom to be cleaned…

A fair enough fear seeing as apparently Ambrosia would have put acid in her bath water any how… Not that Akeldama knew that. But she did know the mosquito bites from the insects she had released into her room still itched up a storm.

“Why am I here again?” Akeldama grumbled, her drunken state enabling her to be a bit blunt with even Ahote of all people. She knew they were out to kill someone. But why was she here for that? Akeldama didn’t exactly have experience with intentionally killing anyone.

Life, according to others, was full of firsts. A plentiful amount of people's lives could be boiled down to a vast collection of new experiences and what they decided to do with the choices they had to make. In this case, it was Ahote's first visit to the village of mountains -- or Mountain Village. His ears popped as if bubbles of water swam within them like they normally would atop Mt. Hakobe, and while he was used to it, it provided him no comfort in this endeavor. He could be seen constantly sticking his fingers in and out of his ears irritably, far too fixated on getting the popping to cease than Akeldama's yeasty smell among the myriad of other odors she possessed.

Feeling the soles of their feet crunch against their rocky path, the four serpents slithered their way closer to the village each with telling expressions stretched across their faces. Ahote's quirky frown was lopsided and pursed with irritation at the continuous popping and the bubbly drunk that loitered behind, his usual vest-suit threatened with wrinkles at his rhythmic twitching. His raven locks had been tied back and bound by an even darker scrunchie, revealing an unblemished forehead and his particularly well-kept hairline. To no one's surprise, Ahote kept himself well-groomed and had dressed to match.

Ahote droned at Akeldama's lazed speech and clumsy words, typically preferring silence in their travels. Or, if he had to pick, let it be Theo or Akily who must talk amidst his brooding. Wearily, he snapped his chin to his shoulder so that his dull topaz eyes could stare fixedly at the petite girl, "To kill Hendrick Kennel. Just an errand, of sorts, but it makes a great time for some group bonding, yes? Consider it. . ." he stopped and looked down at his shuffling feet before returning his gaze with a beaming smile, "like going to work together." he said enthusiastically. His shuffling became a bubbly march at the words, a childlike glee possessing him as a huge smile curved his lips. That being said, the group in which trailed behind him could hesitate to agree, or so Ahote assumed. Akily had been consumed with an unreciprocated disdain towards the pretty-faced master since her joining, and Theo and him had been at odds, lately. While he didn't intentionally pick these three out for the mission, they happened with within arms' length when he slipped his loafers on.

Akily was standing on the dirt road, wondering why the heck she decided to take on a job with one of the people she hated most in this world. Was it for approval from her guild master? HA! Nice joke there buddy. Akily chuckled at the thought of her actually succumbing to his every move, like a pet. She couldn't even believe it popped up in her head, because after all, it should be him seeking approval of her, not the other way around. So, as she looked down at the ground, watching her boots making imprints on the ground, she truly wondered why she actually decided that it was time for her to do this. Sure, it helped her cause to please the Universe Spirit, but she knew that truly wasn't the reason why. There was more to this than she thought she would ever understand. It was like an impulse to her, something she wouldn't have expected. Even during this, all she could think about was slicing that dirty smirk off of that idiots face. Yet, she had the urge not to do it, almost as if something was telling her not to. It was like she was being directed by something that wasn't herself. Was it the Universe Spirit? If so, why has it decided to show its presence now, and why on this mission exactly? Why with these people? There were too many things going on for her to process that strange feeling she felt within her body. All it told her to do for right now was for her to just keep walking and pushing forward, without her best wishes.

All of a sudden, she heard a conversation begin to break out between 2 of the adults in her group. She didn't feel like listening to them, at least not while she was contemplating. With that, she shouted out with a serious tone in her voice, "Shut up, I don't want to hear this idiotic chitter chatter. It's bad enough I have to be around you people throughout this day. I don't want to listen to your voices as well." She was extremely annoyed by the interruption of her thought process. Adults didn't have the right to act like they were able to over power even her own thoughts. No, there was no way she was letting that happen. Adults were a pain to work with, so making them shut up and listen just helps. Even so, she didn't expect these idiots to be obedient. Either way, she marked her territory. Whether they would bark back was up to them, but they'd be barking up the wrong tree. She would make sure of that.

Akeldama hunched over on herself in response to the little girl snapping at her. Ahote was in a weirdly good mood today, but she wasn’t really trusting of that. Best to just be quiet and not anger either of them.

She looked odd next to Ahote in his well dressed apperance. While her new cloths were in a bit better state than the ones she had arrived in, they were clearly a man’s cloths and not well fitted to her slender frame. And some how there was already holes in the sleeves and pant legs.

The raven haired woman just nodded silently in response to both.

The four serpents paraded down the rock and dirt path, some more gleefully than others, until Mountain Village rose over the horizone. The high arches in the landscape and lack of flatness reminded Ahote of the ear-popping altitudes the group had to shoulder, snatching a heavy sigh from deep within his throat, he grimaced the idea of staying a moment longer in a village where the air was thin and his patience for his group even thinner.

The raven-threaded man did not look or speak to Akily when she irritably spewed her complaints and continued to practically shine with an enthusiasm unmatched by the other three basilisks. If they had to compete for anything, it would most likely be who was brooding the most. His jovial pace ceased into a slow and swift pause as his dull, topaz pools beheld the village ahead of them and stood there for a moment or two in silence. Before anyone could ask why he had stopped, it would quickly become clear that he had been traversing his thoughts as his lips parted and finger pointed to the heart of the village. "Take a look-see over there," Ahote suggested, and if the serpents would follow his line of sight they'd see an empty stage with a lackluster podium that shimmered in the sunlight. The crowds that flocked to the stage could be seen even from the high hills they lurked on, women hurdling together to gossip and the men eyeballing the stage with some sort of inquisitiveness and suspicion, but the children found, collected, and threw stones at anyone who was in their range. Anyway, it would seem they all waited impatiently for someone and if said person wasn't Hendrick Kennel, the master couldn't fathom what else to think.

Ahote stopped pointed and peered over to his colleagues with a wondering look plastering across his face. He folded his arms together over his broad chest and smiled, "I can't stand this place, so I'd prefer not to beat around the bush with this job this time around. Why don't we wait for the guy to get on his stage and we can just do it right then and there?" Ahote stressed, clearly his waxy, popping ears had annoyed him to a point of irritation. Yet he could not resist cracking his lips into a smile in the realization that such a crowd would be there to witness their assassination. Oh, what poor trauma those nasty children would experience, and how wet their mothers' cheeks would be with the tears. Of course, the raven-haired ne'er-do-well wished not spill their blood but would make them part of the mission if they so chose.

Post by Yewphoria 2nd October 2018, 9:54 pm

Capone was trying not to interfere too much with Akeldama’s
life. Seeing as she wasn’t even supposed to be here yet, she was trying to do as little as possible lest the timeline be altered by her presence. She couldn’t go back to her own dimension, and Jiyu wasn’t here… Capone of course had a life outside of her daugher but… It was just a bit of a let down. She had had plans with her, and all of those were impossible now.

Well… They were still possible. But they wouldn’t’ be as fun to do alone. She was bored. And in hearing what they planned to do with this assassination attempt made her balk. It was so…. Uninspired. She couldn’t just sit back. She had to do something. She was crawling up the walls with boredom in here.

It should be fine. Last time she’d taken over Akeldama’s body she’d blacked out any memories of Capone. Shouldn’t be too hard to duplicate such a thing… They were technically Capone’s memories after all, not Akeldama’s. Even if Akeldama was a part of her… For this Akeldama that was not the case yet.

Capone pushed Akeldama’s conciseness down into the inky black, and for a moment her vessel’s vision blacked out. Anyone who had been looking at her at the time would have seen Akeldama’s vision go blank and look as if she were about to fall for a fraction of a second. Then she seemed to wake up just as quickly, catching herself.

Now possessing Akeldama’s body, Capone stood up tall and straight, her proper posture a far cry from Akeldama’s hunched over groveling. She took every foot of her six foot frame and owned it like a boss.

Capone’s nose crinkled up in disgust as her vessel’s senses barged her. “My god… Why doesn’t this street urchin bathe?” She muttered angrily to herself, looking at her vessel’s dirt encrusted nails. Disgusting…

But there was nothing she could do about that right now. Right now she had to make a suggestion. She picked up her pace to walk side by side with their guild master. “Ahote dear. I must say. That is the most dull assassination I have ever heard of. Where’s your sense of style? You’ve got to wait until they have that cliche line where they go "we’ll strike fear into the heart of evil.” THEN kill them. With a shot to the heart.”

There was something different about Akeldama’s voice, it was far more haughty than Akeldama was normally physically capable of. Looking at Akeldama, it could be hard to imagine that she was even the same person right now.

Post by Iris 7th October 2018, 1:50 pm

Okay, so maybe he'd gotten a little caught up in the night before's activities. The man called Iris had a lively life to be certain, filled with energetic parties and rowdy nocturnal festivities. He was nearly always in the company of at least one person but preferably a group, yet at this moment he was alone. Before he got caught up in a boozy dance off while searching for a certain stripper known as Thicctor from a previous period in his life, the well-dressed man had had full intentions of keeping his mind reasonably clear for the current job. He'd gone without his team, since they bounced off each other until they were blind drunk and losing memories like bourbon from a dropped bottle. Now as he departed the train at the base of the mountain, he smoothed his lavender hair back into its flawless state, lightly pressing his black pants, black vest, and white dress-shirt with heated palms. A little more than buzzed, his mind had adapted to drink enough that he could function nearly normally, aside from occasional fits of giddiness and unrepentant flirting. It would be a long walk up a gravel road to this boring as heck hidden village. Who would want a village to be hidden? The night life must be atrocious...

Electing to teleport in bursts up the winding trail instead of expending valuable physical energy, it was no time before his ears were popping and he was getting a glorious high from rapid ascension and thinning air. The village was close now, and people appeared on the radar. Familiar people...going opposite ways? Passing two departing guild mates heading back the way he'd just traversed, he merely stared at them but didn't speak. He was late as it was, fashionably but late nonetheless and he didn't want to delay any longer. Still, a slender violet brow quirked, confused as to why they were already leaving, but also quickly shifting away from the thought once the regal and brooding top snake came into view. He wasn't alone. There was a girl with him, tall and unfamiliar in both posture and appearance. "Ahote, do we have a new--" his voice silenced itself as he slammed into a wall of unmistakable stench. A foul nose-offending attack such as this could only belong to a much smaller gutter rat named Akeldama. "...Akeldama?" Iris balked, completely losing his train of thought of greeting the guild master and getting a status update on todays assassination. With one ordered assassination from Papa Snek down, going on another so soon would only feed his growing reputation for being a dangerous bane in the Magic Council's side. This was a point he returned to once his sense of smell adjusted to her, and once he reminded himself that she had some quirky magic probably rooted in time manipulation, from what he'd witnessed. Turning back to the leader, he followed the topaz gaze to the podium in the square below. "Why is it that morons in power think having meetings and announcements in the open are good ideas? They nearly always get murdered...repeating the same thing expecting different results is insanity."

Iris Esperanza was certainly a force to behold, and any serpent worth their venom could say the same. Although he swaggered the hallways in many different forms, each appearance held an acute uniqueness and eloquent beauty that most could identify with the chatty Iris, but was best known for his striking violet locks that were considered strange even among the deranged ne'er-do-wells. The fortress bar, or any bar for that matter, was his home and every colleague treated like a guest. He'd welcome them, lasso them into jolly chitchat with the grace of a ballet dancer, and barraged them with all sorts complex and foreign terms for alcohol that no one but Aeluri and Adrian seemed to comprehend. And if perchance, everyone knew what Iris was talking about, Ahote surely treated it like gibberish. Even so, while many had known about this guild spectacle, all had loved him.

Ahote did not say anything to Iris as he came tapping from the rear of the group, now reduced to few serpents and little more to come, as he watched Akeldama's word slip from her drip, cracking lips. His countenance wasn't a sour one, but it yielded no welcoming expressions as it screwed and twisted. One might say he looked bewildered at her sudden bravery to speak to him the odd way she did. He scoffed at her dully, "I don't know what's gotten into you but you best cut it out." he'd scold her with his usual solemnity, yet his strained glare was softer than those who were not used to being burdened with its weight. It was, in many ways, lighter and carried cheerless jests along with its striking topaz features. Then seemingly without a moment to pause, the raven-haired man peered over Iris with the same look, everyone finally on the same page; Hendrick Kennel's death.

While Iris babbled on about how predictable the misfortunes of these situations often were, Akeldama set the air thick with her romantic ideas of assassination. Ahote would not say anything for several moments while the two continued about, gazing fixedly at the empty stage and the swarms of people pouring to it. Akeldama was certainly correct, assassinations were not meant to be so dull, for dull things were for dull people. A twinkle briefly glistened in his eyes as his well-known "tut-tut" sort of laughter fluttered from his lips like an evil genius whose just conjured up a maniacal, satanic conjure. There was little or anything maniacal about the man himself, but his almost diabolical laughter ensued others with wonder. Or, so he'd think as he'd catch himself doing it. "But, you're absolutely correct, Akeldama," he smiled weakly over his broad shoulders, looking at her with shimmering orbs in his dark, pale complexion, "style does matter. But I hardly think timing is what makes an assassination stylish." Ahote muttered in the softest voice he could conjure up. It was not unusual for him to speak so softly. The man looked to Iris now with a calmer but still excitable complexion, "Do you have any ideas as to how to kill this man?" he said heavily, with a smile quirking his lips.

Aeluri hadn’t necessarily been invited along on this assassination expedition, but there was no chance of stopping her. Mutterings that echoed around the dusky halls of the Basilisk Fang fortress had eventually found their way into the summoner’s ears, informing her of the happenings of Ahote and Akeldama. Curiosity had driven her to tag along at a distance, casually observing the guildmaster and the girl. Whether or not the two were aware of her presence was not concerning. Aeluri figured they wouldn’t send her away - or couldn’t. After all, you can’t tell a cat what to do.

The young woman’s currently cat-like senses had been tuning into the conversation below, but suddenly alerted of her teammate’s arrival. The faint scent of sugar and an unfamiliar tang touched her nose, accompanied by a smooth, lilting voice. The fancily-clad man sauntered up to Ahote and Alekdama, infuriatingly casual as always. Even when he was wasted, the man somehow retained an air of elegance. While others woke up looking like they had fought a tornado full of bears, Iris never had a hair out of place. He was annoyingly perfect. Aeluri huffed at the sight of him.

Deciding that she may as well join her guildmates instead of lurking - though the shadows were ever so inviting - the summoner descended swiftly from the hill above. Within seconds she stood beside Ahote, looking around flippantly as if she had been with them the whole time. Before Iris could respond to the guildmaster’s question, she butted in. ”Maybe a clean, instant kill would send a clear message,” she hummed, eager gaze on the crowd below. “But where’s the fun in that? I suggest a bloodbath.” A wolfish grin stretched across the delicate face, eerily similar to that of her feline summon, Gemini. “Let’s show this scum just how big of a mistake he made coming out into the open.”

Capone was very close to completely discounting Ahote entirely as a dull man who cared nothing for adding a little dramatic flare to what would otherwise be a boring kill. Even though Jiyu was no longer around she had her resolution to try and make the people around her better. To nurture rather than mock those who lacked her creative genius.

But the idea of trying to mentor this blasé bore to greater heights was mind numbingly dull. He didn’t even want to try.

Then she realized that perhaps it was less that he didn’t want to excel, and more that it was Akeldama’s body speaking. It wasn’t what was being said, it was who was saying it. He did not care to listen to anything Akeldama was saying, as she had established herself as an omega early on. This little mongrel was content to grovel at anyone’s feet if she thought it would get her something.

The only thing it wouldn’t get Akeldama was a dreg of respect. He had heard only part of what she had said, it was not merely timing, but irony. Striking at the man’s heart as he spoke about striking at the heart of crime. It was truly a masterful stroke of irony that anyone with a sense of humor would enjoy. But Ahote wasn’t the type to listen to an inferior creature such as Akeldama.

His treatment of Akeldama was good for Capone. That should remain. She however, could not permit it in regards to herself. But this begged the question of whether she should say anything at all in the first place.

Capone could come out and do things… But perhaps in the presence of Akeldama’s guild mates was not the best place and time. The timeline itself was at stake, and a little bit of fun on Capone’s end could have a cascading effect on the relationships Akeldama had with her guildmates. Her station and treatment were perfect, nothing needed changing. Capone was just the type of person these people would both need and like.

And if her presence changed how these people treated Akeldama… That would spell bad news further on down the timeline. She was bored yes. But Capone could not allow that to ruin things for her.

The woman looked down at her vessel’s hand, rubbing her thumb and forefinger together. Things were already on a strand as it were. She could feel a damning energy pulsing through her veins. The kind that could spell doom for her, her vessel, and all those around Akeldama.

She had altered things enough to at least make things interesting… Perhaps it was time to… As Ahote so put it. Cut it out. Capone was not one to simply to roll over and follow orders. His command was not the reason she was doing this at all. It was just too risky right now.

Shame too. Because she had the cleverest retort to Ahote. It’d be something like, its not what’s gotten into me, but who… But no. she couldn’t say something like that. It’d be far too revealing.

Capone took a step back into the depths of Akeldama’s mind, taking the role of an observer rather than a puppeteer.

As the exchange happened Akeldama stumbled and ended up only catching herself on her hands and knees. She got up as quickly as she could, regaining her normal slouching posture as she did so. Her eyes darted quickly around to figure out what was going on but making no eye contact. And then she noticed how things had changed. Iris was here. She was walking next to Ahote now some how. “My bad.” She said in a murmur, taking a step back from walking to his side. She didn’t know what she had may be done.

But it was probably best to start with a preemptive apology for it.

What. Had she… Had she blacked out? Akeldama hadn’t thought she’d gotten that drunk. Maybe it’d be best to stay quiet. Her footsteps slowed until she was walking a bit behind Ahote again, looking between Iris and Ahote. Hopefully she’d catch up on what she missed soon enough, and that whatever she might have done wasn’t too bad.

Ahote gazed thoughtfully at the empty stage while the entire group pondered the oncoming assassination and what sort of spectacle it should've been. It was the silverly buzz of Iris's voice and the softer Akeldama's just before, but among the intertwining voices came in another familiar one, one the young man had pleasantly listened to in the past.

Without a moment to spare, a fair, pretty-faced woman appeared to match the sweet tones, only this time thrusting Ahote out of his previously unbreaking chain of thought and into a frightful state of stiffness. He'd stare at her with a glossy, unshifting gaze as if comprehending what had just happened and shoulders would relax in realizing that the pretty-faced woman would turn out to be the inquisitive Aeluri, who was equally as charming and well-known as Iris Esperanza. Not an ounce of contempt existed in the man's being for Aeluri, and, in fact, felt his chest become light and comfortable in her fragrant presence. However, at her abrupt interjection, he'd scowl indignantly, grabbing her shoulders with a hard metal hand and spoke with a rumbling voice, "You'd ought to know better than to just show up. . ." he'd quietly complain, heaving a sigh from a dry throat before releasing his grip. He was an honest man, yet he'd never admit that even after spending all those years in the dark, cryptic fortress that he'd leap at the most unsuspected of noises or touches.

During his quick and quiet fright, Akeldama shrunk back to the rear of the group, where she normally would be. Ahote'd look at her with an indifferent gaze. His heart would drop in seeing her, but not because of her own wrongdoing towards his comrade, but his own errors. He'd wash his hands obsessively since his flesh had covered itself in her own dirt and grease, so much so that his skin would tear and crack, yet he couldn't bring himself to ever consider apologizing. Instead, he'd pay her sympathetic looks and softer, weaker frowns.

Even so, Ahote had quickly returned to his original train of thought, this time surrounded by friends who felt equally as compelled to do the job. A strange, wicked smile appeared on his lips with the same weakness and warmth that he would wear with any other person, yet the darkness his messy shock of hair would cast over his dull, topaz eyes made them shimmer in the sunlight with the delight and intensity of a beast on their desperate, crippled prey. "Even if we were to kill him in the most exciting way possible, it’d still be just be another assassination at the end of the day. So,” he opened his palm, gesturing towards the crowds of people who swarmed around the stage with anticipating eyes, "why don’t we include our bystanders in our mission? The people just hate it when precious innocents are mistreated. Or, slaughtered like pigs." he suggested with a now simple simper, and while he did not like killing others as much as his colleagues, he did enjoy progress.

How could he have not sensed his team mate here? So close to just pop in almost like she'd been here the whole time. "Aelu~" he purred in annoying affection, planting his usual kiss upon her head once their murderous leader released her. The short spitfire always had a way with words, and even now her suggestion of a bloodbath spurred Ahote into expanding the plan beyond the normal parameters. What better way to upgrade their infamy and message than going off script and causing mass casualties?

"Mmm~ It's been a while since a good massacre. I have plenty of jars," Iris noted, an easy smile lighting his whole face. "However, keep in mind that we need to keep a few alive to tell the tale. And please alert me if you find a dazzling set of eyes in your reapings. I'd be most grateful~" His smooth voice lilted over the words, obviously pleased but not so much so that he looked uncouth and overeager. "I say we let the guy really get going, so everyone is invested. Then he goes down brutally mid speech, and within mere seconds we begin picking off the onlookers. The panic will be magnificent," finished the violet eye thief, peering down on their metaphorical canvas waiting to be painted red. His smooth porcelain hands slid into his pockets, poised to move but otherwise aloof.

His piece said, his eyes drifted back to the urchin whose eyes he'd pulled an interesting antique pocket watch from. It was unnerving to have seen her so old, physically as old as he appeared if not older. It had also be jarring to see her standing so proudly, but that part seemed to be over. Back to the slouching caboose. It pissed him off a little. Again, the emotion was perplex. Something irked him about her resignation to be treated worse than a dog, when just a little effort would go a long way. With eyes like those, she was just wasting her potential. However, if the vision she'd told him of came true, it was only a matter of time before she stepped into her proper place in the world and stood up for herself for everyone else to cower in fear of. Iris didn't see himself cowering unless it was from increased stench, but a small part of him couldn't wait to see it if only so she'd bathe. And yet another bigger part was longing to snatch those eyes right out of her head for himself, thus rendering her even worse off than she was now. See? Complicated. "You should go back to standing up straight. Slouching makes you look like an ape," Iris said to her, rolling his shoulders as if to emphasize what he meant. If nothing else could be said about how she was treated at Basilisk Fang, at least Iris seemed to be trying to teach her how to improve herself without inflicting anything but snark on her. Whether it was kindness or not was a bit of a mystery.
