The duo ran through the night of Era. She could hear the rune knights patrols occasional pass by their hiding place. The night was deep and both the lady, who introduced herself as Jill, and the pirate had replaced their ripped dresses for more practical clothing Mary still had stored in her dimension with her magic. They were a bit to big for the young girl, but were still more practical than the dress they just removed. For now, they had to get Jill out of the city, but patrols were everywhere after what happened tonight. The gates were more than likely closed and well guarded. The later fact would also be the case. While she was unsure how many people died in the fire and the stampede when the people hurried outside, the heavy presence of the rune knights indicated it probably was worse than imagined. Even so they still had to get the girl out of the city somehow. But it would be very unlikely to do so under the cover of the night.
The next morning Mary awoke on multiple sacks of potatoes. Definetly not sleeping like that again, they were way harder than she'd thought they would be. But it beat the cold floor, or so she thought. Now, the first priority was getting something to eat. They'd make their move after breakfast. After all, who knew how long it would be they could get a meal before. Of course, Mary herself wasn't seen by anyone but the bouncers, but they were unconscious in the burning building. According to rumors on the street the fire spread very wide before they managed to get it under control. So it was unlikely they were searching for the pirate. However, almost everyone present saw the girl stab a person. So it was very likely they were searching for her. Luckily it was not to hard to stay off the radar in the crowded city.
In the less glamorous part of the city they managed to eat without much interruption in a shady tavern. Granted, price was pretty high for the "meal" they got but at least it was edible. She could see Jill raise an eyebrow when the food arrived but she took it remarkably well for a pampered noble. Back on the street, now was just the part how to get out of the city. The exit was pretty heavily guarded compared to a normal day. Apparently they didn't have given up their search. Meanwhile she could see a few posters of the hooded woman next to Mary hanging around. They were still searching Jill, and she would be found eventually unless they got her out of the city somehow. Mary was viewing the city gate, but there were just no openings in the guard's formation. If they tried, they would be found out without a doubt.
