Was it necessary to make a guild hall so...unapproachable? By the time Iris reached the summit and pushed through the doors, he was just happy to not be dead. He was a fit young man, but he was hardly used to a long trek in those types of elements. Snow, biting winds, and a steep climb through narrow frozen paths almost turned him back. What if this place didn't have reliable transport to and from the hall once he arrived? Surely the other members didn't make this trip regularly!

And if they did, he was lowkey terrified to meet them. Ugly yetis.

Iris entered guild hall cooly, but not the version of cool he normally went for. It was literal cool. As in effing cold. The snow blew in behind him as he scrambled to shut the door behind him, boots slick on the floor from melted snow. He scuffled in a bitter war with the last bit of weather, but truly maybe he should have just left the freaking door open to let the cold announce his uncaring and awesome entrance. Ah, too late now. All he could think about was getting warm, so setting all the heat from within free seemed like an unforgivable sin, much like wasting a good set of eyes. His gloved hands planted themselves firmly, and with a grunt he finally forced the door shut against the storm outside.

Spinning, he placed his back against the door and peered around. His breaths came out in exhausted huffs, seeming to echo off the stone walls. Hm. The aesthetic wasn't bad. It could be cleaner, but at least it wasn't hideous. It be a shame to make the deadly trip here, only to turn away because the place was too ugly for him to ever accept. Dark guilds were scarce, and his other choice didn't mesh too well. Too blood thirsty to save the eyes.

Finally he righted himself, quickly straightening his black coat and pants, sweeping any remnant of snow from him. Hands fussed over his hair was he walked further inside, looking for signs of life. This was Basilisk Fang, right? So help him if he made it all this way and this was just some abandoned building...

    "Hello?"

“Well well well, who might you be, handsome?” the ambiguous-gendered voice said, one eye gazing at the pale-haired figure from behind. On the door there was a flat imprint of a triangle, and that triangle had one eye. It was the all seeing eye, of course, but really only could see everything on the first floor of the Basilisk Fang guildhall. The name behind it was something of a lie, seeing as the Dreamweaver’s singular optic could not see everything, but the title of the image itself was comforting and hilarious.

Perhaps if she focused hard enough, the nightmare could see something far off, but there were much more interesting things to focus on for the present moment. The purple haired man was definitely a sight to be seen, and the Dreamweaver could not help but notice how well he took care of his hair. It was absolutely perfect; she wanted to touch it.

But, she was getting ahead of herself. The triangle on the door would turn yellow, and the sclera of the giant eye would turn white, and the iris and pupil black. Out would pop two little black legs, and two little black arms. The triangle now looked like a flat pyramid, with the impression of bricks covering its surface. It would materialize right to the left of the stranger on the door they backed away from. With a rather obnoxious peeling noise, the triangle would pull itself from the door and salute the lavender-haired man in greeting. “I take it you’re either a wandering straggler, lost in the mountains, or someone who is seeking a certain guild,” the triangle said, projecting a voice into the air despite not having a mouth to speak with. “I’ll assume the latter for now, and if the former, I’ll just feed you to Ambrosia. Sound good?”

The poor man was left to look all over the room dumbly for the disembodied voice, proving fruitless until he heard the cringe-inducing peeling noise from his back left. Pivoting his body toward it, a bamboozled expression twisted his features into a caricature of his normal self. An illuminati sticker had come to life. That seemed normal. It even had little arms and legs, and by-god a top hat. He didn't remember taking in any questionable substances on the trip up, but he wasn't ruling it out. Either that or the air was so thin up here that he was suffering from hypoxemia...

"Sounds good. I don't know what Ambrosia is, but its services won't be needed. I'm here to join," Iris answered the sticker as confidently one can to a nonsensical object. The thoughts in his head continued, though. And even if I wasn't, after that trip I would join whatever guild this ended up being, friggin' sadists, is mind bristled in agitation as he made sure all signs of frozen liquid had been eradicated from his body. Sliding out of his coat, he gave it a good shake. "My name is Iris Esperanza. Are you the...welcoming committee? The registrar?" Iris asked, though to be honest he wouldn't be surprised if he was speaking to a hallucination. He'd done worse.

Wandering the guild hall was perhaps both therapeutic and melancholy, as within the darkness and silence could one hear themselves think, the soles of their feet tap against the stone and wooden floorboards. Yet, the loneliness of it all might strike deeply in the lurkers. It was both a space where one may walk alone or together with a comrade. However, it was not uncommon that the Basilisks found themselves meandering through the halls with a sense of direction, an objective, and far too often was their destination the tavern, where the heavy, stone entrance doors stood.

Ahote wore his common fabrics, a vest-suit of black and white hues and golden buttons to top it all off. As overdressed as he always appeared, the raven-haired man had only worn these things so bravely to achieve a comfort from which he apparently found in what is famous for being hot and stuffy. His with black, glossy loafers, he sauntered down the hallway with a steadfast twinkle in his topaz eyes. Arriving, his complexion dimmed and lips twisted into something akin to a frown in seeing Veronika, as bubbly and invasive as she always was. Next to her was a man who not only looked atrocious, but chilly. It was almost as if the man's empathy had spiked and suddenly icicles have formed at the tip of his nose. Instead, the raven-haired master had forced a struggling smile to his countenance as he approached the pair, "This person is not a part of the welcoming committee, as they should never be trusted with any marking tools. . ." his face cringed in what looked to be a memory of bitter regret, "But you're here to join, mister Esperanza?" Ahote paced over to the wet and cool Iris, whose pale complexion radiated stunningly in the darkness of the room. Although his face was stretched with a smile, his weary tone was perhaps the gloomy man had expressed best.

Ahote extended his gloved hand for a shake, though he did not care to feel the chill of pale flesh against his, "Normally there is a process for recruiting others, but with your looks, that may be all you need to join as our poster boy. You could fancy that, couldn't you?" Ahote snickered. The young man couldn't recall a moment he was attracted to men but he did know when to appreciate physical aesthetic when he saw it.

    Job: Iris’ Intro
    Mood: Yetis!
Aeluri had been sitting in a comfortable chair, enjoying a rare type of whiskey imported from a nearby region. It had cost most of the jewel she had with her to buy and ship the small bottle, but as the flavors soared on her tongue, she knew the expense was worth it. An unfortunately costly hobby, trying foreign whiskey was something she enjoyed immensely. Perhaps next year on my birthday I’ll treat myself to a distillery tour, she mused, smiling at the idea.

When the door had burst open, she didn’t move. Her guildmates often were coming in and out of the guild hall, so the noise and cold air didn’t bother her. The sound of an unfamiliar voice, however, piqued her interest. New members were always fun to toy with, as it seemed the pyramid-shaped sticker on the door was busy doing when the newcomer walked in. She still didn’t know much about that guild member, but the stranger’s confused replies made Aeluri stifle laughter from her place on the edge of the room. Nothing like a little hazing, she thought.

After Ahote entered the space, clad fancily as ever, she turned her chair ever so slightly to view the interaction of the two men from the corner of her eye. Before entering the conversation she wanted to observe the newcomer. Immediately well-kept purple hair caught her eye, framing a pale face. The man was tall, no doubt, and seemed to still be recovering from the chill that lurked outside the giant door.

“Now, now, Ahote. Is that how you treat a newcomer?” she teased as she spun the chair all the way around in a dramatic fashion. “I agree that he is an intriguing creature, but this poor man must be freezing after his journey here! Shouldn’t you be focusing on hospitality instead of flattery?”

Standing up from the cozy seat, she strode forward until she stood in front of the mage with violet hair, hands on her hips. “Welcome to the guild hall… Iris, was it?” she spoke flippantly. “Don’t just stand there in the cold like an idiot, sit down and grab a blanket or something.”

    "Hunter. Hunted. Does it Matter?"

~Useless. Everyone in this guild was useless~ Areem thought venomously as her normally soft footsteps seemed a bit heavier matching her darkened mood. Her little scavenger hunt through the Guild's kitchen had turned up not one..but two of her best gutting knives..meant to cut open the hides of beasts..not someone's overcooked steak. Still it had been her problem that said blades went missing..as she may have left them unattended in the dining hall after breaking down a troublesome corpse. Covered in gore and other bits she had left in her haste to sink into a hot bath..leaving her to this predicament as her left hand clung to the blades' handles as she made her way through the hallway corridor. The soft sound of voices halted her steps as her head turned curious of what could be going on near the entryway.

Pink. Someone with pink hair had managed to stumble into the hall as the 'little' welcoming committee wasn't doing their job properly. The poor man looked like he hadn't prepared at all for the weather..idiot. Still it stirred the little pity she had in her heart as she swept into the room with her free hand clutching something heavy and feathery. Golden eyes caught the Guildmasters before hastily looking away, it was still disconcerting with his..change.. she gently wrapped the cloak around the newcomer with a faint "Poor thing, you aren't used to the cold at all..". Her tone was warm as was her smile. The cloak was a mix-matched thing of pelts and feathers as Areem tilted her head to the side in inspection of the newcomer. A mage..or lost..and extremely unlucky traveler.

Slipping into one of the chairs near the fire as the white dress seemed even more bright against the crimson flames as the smile vanished, but there was a gleam in her eyes. Like a predator inspecting unwary prey..if there was to be a hunt..then well she wouldn't mind it. Bare feet curled into the plush rug beneath them as her usual ankle adornments rustled from the movement. Pitch black bones stood out in contrast of pale gems..just something happened to pick up on her trip. Her gaze flickered Aeluri as words chiding   "The stranger has a distinct will to live..I doubt he is stupid enough to start ransacking the hall in front of us..much less grab a blanket..Aeluri.".

Oh crap. The sticker was real. His eyes shifted to it again, a little more alarmed yet intrigued with its confirmed existence. To that end, its one large eye was now a novelty, something he wished to have despite there being only one. It may not be a pretty thing, but the unique rarity of it had him already dreaming of what fantastic magic it might contain. However, no matter how deviant he could be, he knew better than to waltz into a dark guild hall and start stealing oculars, so he'd simply keep a running list of interests in his mind should the opportunity come up.

Rending his attention from the gentleman eye-pyramid, he forced himself to move onto the person in front of him. To someone pretty concerned with beauty, flattery would get Ahote everywhere with Iris. Accepting the warm hand with his quite correctly guessed chilly one, he gave the man a firm handshake. This man was impeccably dressed. Those inky locks shimmered in the light of a nearby fire, and warm peach hues begged for a closer look. This man was definitely not a yeti. "I could fancy that, yes--" he'd started in response, but another voice distracted him. A chair turned, likewise turning his head.

His breath caught imperceptibly in his chest. Aside from the illuminati sticker, the two members of the guild he'd met so far were stunningly attractive. The creature perched in the chair, though...perfection. Mismatched eyes were his favorite. His weakness. As an added bonus, the shell that held them wasn't too bad either. She was a seemingly delicate doll, wrapped in a classy kimono and demanding nearly all of his attention. "Flattery is fine," he answered for himself as she approached. Once near, he caught a light scent of whisky, making him wonder if perhaps this was a hallucination after all. All of his vices seemed to be taunted right in front of him, and it felt like a trap.

Yet, he had no official names for anyone. His face brightened into an attractive smile, his eyes flickering between the two with piqued interest. "So, you are Ahote," he echoed the name the china doll with the irresistible eyes had said earlier at the man so similar to himself in build. "And you, whisky girl...what's--"

And still there were more eyes coming. Before he could look find more names or his own blanket in the new place, something very warm and made of various animals was draped around his shoulders from behind. He turned his head and briefly caught sight of her healthy golden eyes, reminding him of a hawk's eyes. The smile brought out his own for her, whoever this newest person was. "Thank you," he nodded as she found herself a seat nearby. The newcomer had at least given him the name belonging to the whisky scented woman. "Aeluri? Interesting name," he asked smoothly, gazing into those eyes he longed to possess. The warmed man then turned his attention back to the lady in the white dress that just so happened to have the warmest blanket in existence with her. What had seemed like an empty entrance hall at first had gotten lively very quickly. "I'm Iris Esperanza," the purple haired man enlightened her, assuming she'd been out of earshot for his first introduction. "May I have the pleasure of your name as well?"

The triangle could only chuckle into the air as the guild master came forth to deny the idea of the dreamweaver being on the welcoming committee. It seemed that they really did not want its help, despite it being the first to encounter and find the newcomer. The lovely-haired man, introduced as Iris, began to greet the rest of their humble little guild, which led the triangle to look for a more clever and productive use of time.

Without another word, the triangle would disappear, whisked away into nothing in the blink of an eye. It would re-appear ever so quietly behind Ahote, and just as subtly, would slip a dark, void-black hand and arm into the guild master’s fancy pocket. Feeling around, the dreamweaver would have an ‘aha’ moment as their black hand would grab onto the stamp stick, the lovely little tool meant for placing the Basilisk Fang guildmark. Floating upwards proudly, the top-hat-wearing golden triangle would hover above the raven-haired guild master, guildmark tool in hand.

“Excuse you, I’m the head of the welcoming committee, I’ll have you know,” the ambiguously gendered voice said, projecting into the air from the triangle. They fiddled with the guildmark placer, circling it around in their hands like a policeman would a baton. “Now, mister Iris, where would you like that guildmark? The eye, perhaps? The arm? The leg? The throat, on the inside? The ass? I can place it anywhere!” the triangle said in a chipper, friendly manner, floating down to hover in front of Iris while they awaited an answer.

Visitors, interested in recruitment or not, was always a special event for the Basilisks. They would abandon anything that occupied them to flock to the tavern and greet or hover over any unfamiliar face that pushed through those heavy wooden doors. It wasn't unusual for these wanderers to look so battered and sluggish when entering the Basilisk fortress, as Mt. Hakobe was a dangerous feature to scale. Yet, the fortress was no more a safe space than the mountain. It was, in fact, an infestation of ne'er-do-wells and unmentionable criminals.

The gathering was enjoyable no less, however. The raven-haired master stared at the well-groomed Iris's figure with sharp, droopy eyes and a simper that cracked his lips. He was a man who possessed some amount of beauty, it was the first thing the man had noticed and had impressed Ahote with its unfaltering appearance even after the challenging hike up the mountain. Yet, it was not enough.

Ahote continued to observe the event unfold into something akin to students greeting a new kid in their class until the effervescent Veronika had disappeared and reappeared, but this time with a familiar item in their hand - the guild stamping tool. Ahote's complexion paled to a ghostlike whiteness and an aching sting coiled around his neck at the sight, his eyes sharpening and lips twisting into more of a stunned frown than anything akin to anger. "You. . ." he hissed, palms rolling into fists as he stomped over to the floating triangle with an armed raised to snatch the tool away, ". . . little pickpocket!" Even with his arm raised, he would not attempt to retrieve the tool just yet. Instead, he peered over to Iris once more. "As jolly as it all seems, don't get the wrong idea, Mister Iris," he began again, softly, "it'd be foolish of me to accept you if you do not offer something. Is there something you can do for our cause that would make me think otherwise to toss you out?" his fleeting anger would settle into a soft solemnity, never too keen to let just anyone into the ranks of Basilisk Fang. For the guild's sake and their own.

"Hm. I absolutely abhor the Magical Council, and would love to rip them to bloody shreds one by one until I find the one that stole my eyes from me," Iris answered the inquisitive man, a heated bloodthirst flashing into his soft purple eyes. He recovered himself quickly, though. A quick sigh released the momentary tension and he continued calmly. "Other than that, I love to cause chaos and destruction. I'm pretty handy with bombs and other methods of...persuasion. And I have a little bit of surgical experience, if that helps. But you already offered me the job of Poster Boy, and I accepted. Remember?"

Turning to the triangle and still admiring that large weird eye, a deviant smirk crossed the lovely haired man's lips. "Oh, it'd be lovely on my left cheek, don't you think?" he purred thoughtfully, perhaps leading a more innocent person to think he meant his face. But no, it was quite e different cheek he had in mind, demonstrated by the swiveling of his hips to bring his delicious booty around, prime for stamping. He hooked a belt loop and started to tug the waist of his pants down enough to expose some skin.

At Ahote’s reaction to the theft, the triangle blinked its singular eye in amusement. At the guild master’s attempt to snatch it back, the triangle floated higher, so he would be out of reach, but dangled the stamp as one would a bone to a dog. Teasing the young man was always fun and amusing. The Dreamweaver now saw why Ambrosia enjoyed it so much.

The lavender-haired man responded to Ahote in a manner that hopefully would please the guild master as much as it did the nightmare. Revenge-driven individuals were always helpful in providing the food the Dreamweaver constantly desired. That and a person who could deliver chaos and destruction was always someone the triangle was fond of. The man then expressed where he wanted his guild tattoo. At first thought, because the triangle was completely innocent, the fact was first considered. However, the lowering of the pants most certainly implied otherwise, and the Welcoming Committee was happy to oblige.

The guild stamp in hand, the triangle floated down and gave the exposed skin a good smack with the tattoo placer. Naturally, an ultramarine blue and zaffre snake head symbol would appear right after, designating that the triangle’s job was done. “Welcome to the guild, my new friend!” the ambiguous triangle exclaimed, tiny black arms thrown up in a ‘hooray’ stance, stamp still in hand.
