Personality Mareo is a... Well, a child with powers infused in a mask. First born in the realm of Nazo, in the hands of a tyrant named Torochi, Mareo grew up from scratch. Knowing nothing except how to speak, learning everything from the corrupt, power hungry and very cruel Yokai. Because of this, Mareo's moral view on the world is extremely dark. Yet despite this he is extremely innocent, naive and just overall young. He will typically question actions, ask for explanations, or give very cruel and gruesome suggestions or hints that normally an evil and tormenting tyrant would state all because that's what he was taught was right. Yet despite all the many many years the long living Torochi worked with Mareo, the mask like being still retained it's young and innocent like state. Because of this innocent and child like nature, he can be fun to talk with when he isn't being disturbingly cruel, and can be a genuinely nice companion to have around.
Virtues
-Innocence: Despite only knowing the darkest of ways to deal with other people, Mareo is a rather innocent soul. It is impossible to be truly angry with him as it is clear he isn't truly evil or cruel in any way, and when the reaction he receives from his suggestions, ideas or questions is a negative one, he simply replies with a statement or question filled with curiosity, puzzlement and confusion.
-Comedy: Despite not understanding what humor really is, only getting jokes that are dark, twisted and menacing, he can still be comedic by accident due to his innocent and naive nature. Conversations with Mareo can be entertaining in character, but also can be read with a few good laughs out of character as well.
-Curious: His curious nature, while getting him into the corrupted nature in the first place, gives him the open mindedness he needs to get out of said nature. Not only this but it enables him to be extremely observant, spotting nearly everything that he and Oras come across, even when Oras himself isn't paying attention.
Flaws
-Innocently Cruel: While he may be innocent in mindset, his thoughts, speech and patterns are almost always depicted in a cruel, torturous, merciless manner. If Oras ever does anything cruel or merciless he will either commend him, or give tips on how he could have done it better. If Oras does the opposite, he questions the actions with child like curiosity.
-Rather Fickle: Being a child he can be.... Unpredictable. There are times he will just stop granting Oras his enhancements, times where he will speak when talking is the last thing needed. Sometimes he'll stay silent when Oras needs advice or help. Other times Mareo will try playing back seat driver and sometimes he just goes with the flow.
-Stubborn: While his curiosity makes it easier to teach him the difference between right and wrong, his stubborn nature tends to be the balance. All his life Mareo was taught nothing of morals, and instead that he could kill, torture, and manipulate to get x results, as well as how to do it well.
