It was actually quite nice to feel his magic drain away. He was pretty new to having it to begin with, so feeling it leave the invisible veins that carried it around his body upon its awakening made him feel almost normal. Almost like all the bad things had never happe--

OH GOD IT WAS SO DARK.

Iris's happy thoughts and burgeoning plans to move to the neutral grounds so he could mentally settle and clearly formulate his plan for revenge was murdered on the spot. With the bleeding of his magic came the draining of his vision. Now he sat on his train seat, very much blind and completely pissed off. If he had known this was a side effect of losing his magic, he'd have had someone else acquire the stupid iLac for him, or just went without one.

The purple haired man was the visual sort. How could he admire and relieve others of their eyes if he had no idea what they looked like or if they were even worth his time? There was so much beauty for him to consume and pursue, but how could there be any beauty in void? The vast and suffocating darkness felt both infinite and like a closet that was too small. He didn't miss this inconceivable blackness that only other blind people could relate to. It had only happened to him for a short period of time when he'd lost his original eyes and this fate was thrusted upon him. Thankfully his awakened magic had risen a ravenous hunger to steal new eyes and use them for himself, like a wolf's instinct to hunt. He'd never been without sight since that time, and was quite terrified to be tossed back into it without any warning, while in a strange place to fetch an item he could now no longer find on his own. He was all but helpless. How unbecoming. Weakness was ugly, and lord knows Iris would rather die than be ugly.

He felt the train slow down. All his other senses were heightened. Touch. Smell. Hearing. Probably taste too, but he had no snacks to confirm. Oh wait...there it was. He tasted old lady perfume because it was just that dang powerful, and as offensive as the scent and her perceived shriveled oldness was, the crypt keeper would be an easy target for help. Hearing the shuffling of geriatric feet fumble ever closer, he chose the perfect moment to strike.

Iris stood, exiting his seat with a fake stumble, right into the old woman's path. "Excuse me!" she warbled a cry. "Oh, I'm sorry. You see...I'm blind, and in the confusion during boarding I lost my cane..." he partially lied, waving his hand around before him for added drama. He heard the tut of pity clack in her dentured mouth and knew he had her. As an added bonus, in his flailing his hand came to rest on something warm and soft. At first he nearly shrieked in horror, thinking the flesh in his hand was the saggy and ancient type, but no, he'd know a young boob anywhere, sight or no. He gave it a couple good squeezes to make sure before the gasping young lady gently batted his hand away. This was the only up side! No one scolded a blind man for fondling! He didn't know any better, after all.

"Oh, sonny, how awful. Is there any way we can help you?" the grandma asked, also seeming to ignore the grope.

Perfect. "Yes, actually. I came to get one of those free iLacs. There are several features for the unsighted that would help me a great deal. I knew traveling to a strange place might be difficult, especially since I have no family, but it is worth the risk. Could you show me the way?" Iris asked in his most polite tone. He might not be opposed to forcing people to help with his handy knife, but being unable to see those that might step in kept him on his good behavior.

"My granddaughter is actually here to fetch one of those new fangled contraptions herself! She and my daughter insist I have one for emergencies, but I don't really want the annoying thing!" the grandma prattled on, soon interrupted.

"Now, granny, we've talked about this. If you fall, you can call us or the medics for help. If you get lost or scared, any one of us is just a phone call away. This will keep you out of the old folk's home you don't want to go to! Don't be so stubborn..." a young woman's voice scolded. She sounded pretty. Her voice was like honey, bright and innocent and irresistibly sweet. Like a song not yet darkened by the harshness of the world. Delicious. Easy.

"Fine, fine. Either way, we will bring you along with us."

    ----

The walk there had been uneventful. The granddaughter lead him by the arm, and soon they all had shiny new gadgets. Easy enough. Now to get the heck out of here so he could see again. Surely they would return him to the train station....after a little fun, of course.

"You don't care if a harmless blind man borrows your daughter for a dinner of thanks, do you, ma'am?" Iris wasn't up to anything. No, not at all... The gullible old woman agreed, none the wise to Iris's intentions.
