Personality:
Sayuri is generally a very shy person. She isn’t usually the one to initiate conversations, especially with total strangers. However, she will reach out a bit more to those she knows well and is comfortable. She does tend to get uncomfortable around large groups of people. Part of this is that she is very self-conscious. She has had so many people, even her own family members, put her down, so she has very low self-esteem. She’s her own worst critic, often obsessing over her mistakes. On the bright side of this, though, it means that she is always striving to improve herself.
She is a very loyal person. Once she has chosen to stand by a person or group, she is not one to back out. She’s also a very honorable person. She has her own strict moral code, and she always follows it. Her word is everything to her, so she will not lie, and once she makes a promise she always keeps it. It makes her a very good ally- and a terrible enemy.
Sayuri is not a very war-like person, and she tries to avoid fighting in her day-to-day life. The only time she seeks out a fight is to protect an innocent, or to protect something or someone she is loyal to. But that does not mean she won’t finish a fight, if someone starts one with her. And she is not exactly fun to tangle with. Her low self-esteem means she always sees herself as the underdog in a fight. But that doesn’t mean she will back out of the fight- far from it. She knows that she can’t afford to hold back, and she will do whatever it takes to win- including fighting dirty. And if she does feel that she’s going to go down, she’ll do her best to take her enemy down with her, whatever the cost. Not that she’ll kill them, of course. That’s one of the lines she will never cross.

Likes:

• Swordplay- Despite her generally pacifistic nature, Sayuri does enjoy sparing with a sword. She mostly works with simple training weapons, but she can and has used real blades as well.
  
• Sweets- Sayuri has a huge sweet tooth, and she enjoys any sugary treat, especially chocolate.
  
• Logic Puzzles- Sayuri enjoys all different kinds of games and puzzles, from sudoku to jigsaw puzzles, and takes pride in being able to solve some of the most difficult ones.
  

Dislikes:

• Fighting- Sayuri is not fond of fighting- either being involves herself or watching others. Training, of course, is the exception to this. Otherwise, she will often try to stop altercations if possible.
  
• Bullies- Sayuri has been on the receiving end of a lot of abuse in her life, and she despises it. She will defend herself in a physical confrontation, but her avoidance of conflict means that she won't do much about any verbal harassment. To herself, that is. She is always quick to defend anyone, be they a friend of a total stranger.
  
• Alcohol- It isn't that Sayuri dislikes the taste. Rather, she knows from experience that she does not hold her liquor well, and acts in ways that she knows she will regret once she sobers up, so she generally avoids drinking, although she does slip up from time to time.
  

Motivations:

• Self Improvement- As states earlier, Sayuri has a very low self-esteem. As such, she is always trying to "improve" herself, in whatever ways she views as necessary.
  
• Loneliness- Because Sayuri is quite shy, she doesn't exactly have very many close friends. That does not, however, mean she does not want them. She longs for companionship, and although her quiet nature prevents her from being particularly outgoing, she tries her best to be likeable, hoping to befriend others.
  
• Curiosity- Sayuri was quite isolated as a child. She'd only been out of her childhood home a handful of times. She's a bit naive, and hasn't seen many things. She's given to exploring, wanting to see as many different places and events as she can in her lifetime.
  

Fears:

• Losing Someone- This is her biggest fear. Sayuri does not have very many people that she is close to, and as such, the idea of losing any such person is completely terrifying for her.
  
• Spiders- Sayuri hates spiders. With a passion. The spindly, many legs, odd way of scuttling, biting, threat of poison... She just can't handle it.
  
• Claustrophobia- Sayuri is afraid of confined spaces, since they bring back bad memories for her.
