    Job Title: Dead Languages
           Rank: B
Player Requirements: B-Rank or equivalent. Must be a member of Silver Wolf. Up to four members maximum.
Job Requirements: 5000 words solo plus 2500 words per extra member. At least four mobs and the Boss must be defeated. Players must obtain “Uncovering the Obsidian Archives.”
           Job Location: Silent Cemetery
Job Description: Examining “Hidden Knowledge” has tipped Silver Wolf off to the existence of a valuable tome located in Silent Cemetery. It is named “Uncovering The Obsidian Archives” and can be found in the mausoleum of a long-deceased scholar buried on the cemetery grounds. Just because it is a book retrieval mission does not mean the job will be easy. A recent increase in undead activity has been reported. It is unknown whether the book has anything to do with it, but be cautious!

Players must fight their way to the mausoleum past groups of ghosts and zombies. They may either already be ambling about or they may erupt from the ground in surprise attacks, so be vigilant. Once in front of the mausoleum, the attacks abate and players have some breathing room before the next step of the journey.

The mausoleum is made of granite and is distinguished by a giant stone book sitting on a pedestal to the right of the entrance. Inside the mausoleum is a doorway with a stone staircase leading down. Downstairs is a long earthen hallway lined with coffins, unlit torches, and the corpses of would-be treasure hunters, both long-dead and a few recently deceased. Players will have to fight their way to the scholar's burial chamber.

At the end of the hallway is the scholar’s burial chamber and inside the chamber is a sarcophagus flanked by eight armored statues. In the sarcophagus itself is the skeletal body of the scholar and “Uncovering The Obsidian Archives”, an old book with a brown hardback cover and the title written in gold cursive letters. It is well-preserved, but it is still prudent to handle it with care when removing it. However, touching the book makes its guardians spring into action, so be prepared!

    Hints:

Holy magic and weapons will come in handy here. They do double damage to the zombies and ghosts.

Skeletons take only half damage from Holy magic and weapons, but their movements are slowed for three posts.

Dark weapons and magic heal enemies instead of harming them.

Bring torches or another light source. The underground can be dark and dangerous without light.

Enemies: Those buried within Silent Cemetery have become restless. In addition to zombies and skeletons, the party will also face restless ghosts. Most of the enemies are not too hard to defeat, but the threat comes from their numbers and their ability to appear at any time.

Weak: Ghostly Soldiers x12: These undead are fast but weak. Dressed in a ghostly copy of ancient armor they no longer have need for, they move at human running speed and possess long spectral polearms that can still harm the living. Their pikes can deal 3 B-ranked damage per hit and their swords can deal 3 B-ranked damage per hit. The soldiers often form up into a pike wall, making it difficult for melee-oriented characters to get close. Distance attacks are best for breaching the pike wall, particularly Area-Of-Effect attacks that can scatter the formation.

They take two B-ranked hits to destroy but can turn intangible to avoid one attack per post. Holy weapons and magic deal double damage to them.

Normal: These undead are typical of their type. These rotting armored corpses are not very fast but possess brute strength and can sprint in short bursts to catch prey off guard. They can claw for 3 B-ranked damage and then do ½ B-ranked bleeding damage over time for three posts. If they grapple a player, they can bite for 3 B-ranked damage and cause a “decaying” effect that hinders limb movement and does ½ B-ranked damage for three posts unless the wound is healed sooner. Bitten players slowly turn a sickly purple and become priority targets for the zombies. Even though it is rusted beyond use, their armor grants enough protection that it takes 3 B-ranked hits to put them to rest. Holy weapons and magic deal double damage to them.

Strong: Crimson Skulls x8: The reanimated skeletons of long-dead soldiers sworn to protect the tome within the mausoleum, their bones have been dyed red from the blood of countless treasure hunters. They use longswords and two-handed axes and wear ancient metallic armor that is colored bronze with red pauldrons.

Their longswords deal 3 B-ranked damage per hit and their axes deal 4 B-ranked damage per hit and inflict ½ B-ranked bleeding damage for three turns unless the wound is treated sooner. Their armor allows them to withstand 4 B-ranked hits before they fall apart. Holy weapons and magic deal only half damage but slow their movement for three posts.

Boss: Crimson Knights x8: This “boss mob” of Crimson Skulls is the last line of defense. They are the best warriors among the skeletons. Their armor is black with gold pauldrons to denote their elite status and all of them wear gold helmets with black horsehair crests.

The Knights carry longswords and maces as their choice of armament. Their longswords deal 4 B-ranked damage per hit and their maces deal 5 B-ranked damage per hit and can knock a player off their feet. The Knights’ improved armor allows them to withstand 6 B-ranked hits before falling apart. Holy weapons and magic do only half damage to them and do not slow them down.

Reward: B-ranked EXP, 40k Jewels, and access to Card Collector, the next job in the sequence.
