Personality:

Mephistopheles Jäger, or more commonly known as Mephis Dagger is the current head of the Dagger Family and the last remaining member of it to remember their roots as the Jägers, before this nation’s idiotic government mistakenly heard it as Dagger. He had spent decades of fighting against insurmountable odds, tearing down metaphorical obstacles that piled higher than mountains with his bare hands. All of the struggles he has faced, overcame and been beaten down by have taken their toll upon his heart. Turning him cold and calculating, where he views his family less of a beloved bond and more of an extension of himself, past sacrifices, and all the regrets in his life. The last remnants of his struggles, a monument to all of his sins and accomplishments… and he’d be damned if they became an embarrassment to their roots beneath his iron grasp.

Strangely enough, this has resulted in those outside of his family being treated somewhat better than his own bloodline, especially compared to the younger troublemakers who constantly fight against his reign. His spawn and theirs are expected to be loyal and subservient to him, to do as they are told while he molds them for greatness. All others are unknowns, to be treated carefully and with respect so that they may be used to further his legacy. His smile grows fond, fatherly while he interacts with them. Showing more patience and affection, to reward them for deeds done good. Where as his grandchildren must work harder for the same treatment, and upon his estate his smiles are small if any.

Throughout the years, all for the sake of what he shall leave behind, he has built a web of connections and contracts, a vault of wealth, vast library of knowledge and a lush garden full of his seed with the weeds being pruned and salvaged as he seeks to make his legacy last for generations to come.

Obedience: Mephis is an old man, and the entire world is his lawn. Only he doesn’t mind if you are on it, so long as you obey him and his rules.

Freedom: Mephis values his own freedom and lack of superiors greatly, being free of restraints and authorities is far more important to him than having others subservient to himself.

Open Skies, Deep Oceans: Whether they be cloudy, clear, or full of scavangers gorging themselves after a war, the sky is a wonder to behold. Where not even one’s own sight is enough to see what lays beyond, despite how open and clear they may be at times. Where as the dark depths of the oceans, holds wonder and mysteries.

Fools: Idiotic people who do foolish things, is a waste of food and resources. Some are redeemable, all are an annoyance.

Disobedience: If one is obedient they are useful no matter how powerless they are. A use can be found for them. However those who disobey and rebel are a hindrance, no matter what strengths they have.

Ungrateful Brats: Providing for, raising, nurturing, only to have whelps grow up to be ungrateful brats has been a thorn in Mepthis’s side ever since the teenage years began for his own whelps. Now, he must go through it with all the arrogant spawn that bear his bloodline, and their blasted friends too… At the very least, over the course of raising so many he has learned how to deal with the hormonal beasts known as teens.

Legacy: Mepthis could be forgotten six seconds after he dies, and his pride would not be wounded. He would not care if the world forgets he had ever existed, not at this stage of his life. Not anymore. Now the Legacy which Mepthis wishes to leave behind is a better life for those he has cared about than he had. To enable them the chance to find their own happiness, and uplift those they care about to do the same.

As cold and controlling as he has become, Mepthis’s true desire is to leave the world a better place for his beloved. Even if it means being the object of their detest they shall have the tools they need to grasp their dreams, they only need the determination to make the ascension themselves.

Power: Power comes in many forms and in the past, all forms are what Mepthis had desired. Knowledge, physical, magical, and people. Now however Mepthis’s twilight years are nearing its end and he only has his knowledge and people left. His body and magic has long been been given up for another’s sake, and the only use he has for what power he has left is to ensure the continuation of his legacy. Leaving his knowledge behind, and forming even greater bindings with others to protect what he leaves behind is all the power he desires.

Death: Mepthis could have delved into the  necromantic arts, formed packs with demons or angels. Obtained a form of immortality to stave off death for as long as possible, but to Mepthis he desires it. To die and leave this world behind, even if his fate is obliteration.

He is old, has watched those he loves and cares about die. Buried precious children, mourned over the loss of beloved companions. The man he has become now, is a shadow of the majestic man he once ways, and while his pride shall not admit it this he knows to be true.. He is more cold and calculating than ever before. However no matter how cold he may become, a spark of warmth shall always ensure that he stares down his end with pride, and not flee from it like a coward does a fight.

Fears:
Ruin: Death, Imprisonment, Loss of a Beloved. None are what Mepthis fears,his death is inevitable. He already saw to it. What years he has left renders Imprisonment a discomfort, nothing more. And what is one more name written upon stone, when there is a valley of them seared into his heart. One of the few things which he truly fears, is the ruin of what he has built for his Legacy. To have his one final desire torn away from him, when he has no time left to be able to build it back up… That, is his true fear.

Heaven: Mepthis’s past is long and tattered, where lines were so blurred that friends and enemies became interchangeable. He has lost count of all his transgressions against the divines, just as he no longer remembers how many times he had bled in their name. Do their judges view him as an ally, foe, or something else entirely? He fears the inevitable answer, but shall not flee from it.

Hell: Mepthis has served on the wrong side of heaven an incountable number of times, and the righteous side of hell just as much. He has befriended demons and angels alike, slain their kin, and took part in the horrors of war. Shall he face damnation if he descends to what so many consider the darkness, or will he be welcomed with a loving embrace and called comrade just like he had once before.
