Re: A step in the right direction
It had been a long time since Ruvel had been at the port city of Hargeon, the home of the legal guild known as Lamia Scale. He had yet to encounter any of the guild mages in his frequent visits but then with a town so big and so much trouble elsewhere in Fiore it made quite a bit of sense he guessed, but still he thought of his home of Tolgalen and wither a person knew it or not they where never to far away from on of his guild members often smiling as a member of the trading company they all belonged to. This was the secret though, the secret that kept everyone safe as right now thanks to what a dark guild had done members of Onyx Moon had bounties on their heads, more so if you where amongst the ones that had been on the Rune Knight the day it went down. Ruvel had been and so was a wanted man, not that the magic council knew when he visited only a few weeks previous to deliver some special cargo to them from a lost library somewhere in the south of Earthland.
This however was of little consequence right now to the teen vice president, he had went to the job board at home and decided to let one of his summons choose a job for him. It seemed the one that was chosen was nothing more than a rumour, he put little stock in such things but given the subject of this particular rumour he knew it needed to be looked into one way or another; so made his way via the company air ship. Thanks to the wind mages that had been on board the wind was always in their favour and so made it to their destination in no time, it was true he should have been wearing formal company uniform but then he wasn't there to see a client so had went in his normal white and ice blue hoodie, white haori with golden threaded symbols for cursed and blessed, white hakama, white tabi and shoes. It may have seemed like a weird style but it was his style and he liked it, weirdly it suited the raven haired boy with golden and silver streaks.
As he stepped of the company ship his dual coloured eyes looked around, he knew most likely he could have done this on his own given the rank that was on the job advertisement. Still it said that there would be a second mage with him to investigate the rumour and that they where to meet each other at the towns main water fountain. 'This is going to be a waste of both our times' he thought to himself as he silently sighed walking toward the designated meeting area. He found himself wondering just whom he was about to meet, their guild and magic but knew everything would come in good time. He blinked feeling water on his cheek and looked up seeing the greying sky 'A storm perhaps?' he thought but given what was going on could it have been a bad omen for the task they were about to take on?

Re: A step in the right direction
Ruben sat in his window with the dagger balancing on his finger like a seesaw. The other dagger was in his teeth. Ruben immediately spat it out. "Rust does not taste good," he said to himself. "That is obvious Ruben. It is literally metal after chemical reaction took place because of water or moisture," Sin said to him. Ruben stared at him lost. "Have you been reading books while I wasn't looking again? I told you,the reason I don't get books is because I don't have that many jewels." "Ruben,we all know that isn't true. It's because you don't have that much of an education. Which is the exact reason you should get some books. Can't really keep anything a secret from me. I'm in your head." Ruben just nodded his head at the last statement. "Yeah,I should probably remember that." Ruben opened up a window in his room and jumped out. He landed on the ground and rolled. "I see the training worked out well for you." Ruben wasn't focusing on Sin right now. He was focusing on the clouds overhead. "Rain? Okay then. Usually that's bad but it can be good. Lightning conducts in water," Ruben said to himself. "You've been reading books in the library haven't you?" "Yep! Surprised you haven't found that out." Ruben began to walk towards the water fountain. "Hope that fountain doesn't overflow again. Last time that happened we had to clean it all up. And I hate cleaning it up," Ruben said to himself. He looked down at a small sheet of paper. "Slavers." The paper Ruben's holding gets crushed in his hand. "I despise slavers. They think it's right to take a living human being and sells them for a quick dollar. It disgusts me!" Ruben wasn't even watching where he was going and ended up walking into the water fountain and tripping into it. A loud splash and water going everywhere interrupted everyone walking by. "Next time you want to talk about something you despise Ruben, can you at least watch where you are going? Because now we are wet and these daggers are probably going to be more rusted. Why didn't you open that package someone sent you?" "Do you just open a random package a person sent to you? It could be a bomb,or poisonous gas,or some dumb thing that says it's going to great, but then ends up sucking! Do you want to open a package like that!"

Re: A step in the right direction
As Ruvel reached the water fountain he looked up to the sky feeling something cold falling on to his cheek, then there was another small cool drop "Rain?" he said to himself as he wondered if the one he was to be meeting was already there, his head lowering so he could looking around but he didn't see anyone that he thought would be his partner on this task. "I accepted to do this because....?" he asked himself his eyes closing, the rain now starting to become a steady down pour as he continued to wait. Other people that had been standing around the fountain or those nearby running for cover from the cold wet weather, at least he would know who exactly he was looking for as they too would come to the fountain or would have remained there. 'You done that because you are an idiot, you know that.' Rang one of his summons mouths, all he could do was sigh and wonder what he was thinking when he made a deal with that demoness. 'Leave him be Ordhabbi or I'll put that fiery temper of yours out.' Neru warned, how he hated when his summons bickered it gave him a headache.
'You are doing this to help those who may of not had it bad as you gain their freedom our summoner...' Shindara said calmly 'While helping a new mage gain some experience.' Amuul finished off for him. That's when he remembered that this job was a far lower rank than he himself, he knew it was a good thing to help others and that the interaction was something that he himself needed to heal from his past. Still he was nervous as he was still getting use to doing things with mages that weren't of his guild, last time he tried was with a dark guild member called Masha. The job, date or whatever it was meant to be didn't turn out well and put him at odds with Masha, then he had things to do for his guild that made him badly ill. Still he needed to keep trying to socialise and this was as good a way as any to the youth, he just hope it went well for a change as he was no good at reading social cues outside the scripted stuff he knew for dealing with clients.
As he was thinking he hadn't realised that the person who he was to do this job with had finally arrived, that was until he heard a splash and was covered in cold water. He hadn't flinched when it happened as he already felt the coldness from the rain, his dual coloured eyes however did turn to the other person who had landed in the fountain 'Please tell me this isn't the person who I am meant to be working with...' he thought to himself as he leaned forward offering a hand weak smile on his feminine face "You should be careful, you could harm yourself or get sick." he said calmly, he hated touch but he was fine with this as he was initiating it "By chance have you came here because you are meant to be meeting someone for a job?" he asked a warmly though he had a bad feeling the answer was going to be yes, given what had just happened he was already worried about the job but said nothing about that openly.

Re: A step in the right direction
"Ruben,I'm just saying, maybe if we opened the package,we could have a weapon that's better than these two daggers, that can barely cut through wood!" Sin said, with his voice getting louder and angrier as he reached the end. "Well these daggers have sentiment and are still useful for this job. They'll break most likely, but they shall not go to waste!" Ruben replied, raising the daggers in the air as he did so. He received a couple stares, which he ignored. "Slavers. Those little bastards are nothing but a waste of energy." "Ruben, you do realize that this is a C-rank job. This is a rank above you,and you wouldn't even be allowed to go if this other mage wasn't here with you. Speaking of that other mage, where are they?" Ruben looked around, but wasn't able to get a good look because he is still in the fountain. "Umm,we should get out of this fountain." Ruben grabbed on to a piece of the fountain and was about to lift himself up when Ruvel came around and offered a hand. "Thanks for the hand. Got a bit distracted," Ruben said to him...her..them. He grabbed Ruvel's hand and lifted himself up. When Ruvel asked the question,Ruben was surprised. "Well,by chance I am here to meet with a mage. Someone strong I think. Are you that mage? If you are,the name is Ruben Seranus,I have my buddy Sin with me,somewhere, and I'm here for the job. Also,I'm sorry about falling into the fountain."

Re: A step in the right direction
Ruvel nodded his head as he heard the other thanking him for helping him out of the fountain, though he didn't show it he was struggling with the others weight. It wasn't because the guy was overweight or even due to being soaked in water, he was just physically weak much to the frustration of many people he knew. "I know what it is like to be distracted." it was a phase he got out of quickly when he was younger as it never ended well for himself or Demi. "I would suggest concentrating in the future however it could end with someone being harmed badly or worse." he wasn't nagging the other that wasn't his place, however, he needed to trust the person he was teamed with would watch his back and not cause issues. Well not just that if he got distracted it could be as bad as how Ruvel was about fighting, others would have to turn their attention to defend him and those who couldn't fight could get hurt in his stead not to mention he'd become a burden to those he was with. He kept his thoughts to himself hoping the little he did say made his point to the other.
Hearing he was there to meet a mage he smiled a little nodding "My name is Ruvel Mizune, I'm from the West Fiore Trading Company." he said introducing himself, his hand going to his chest as he leaned forward a little as if a small polite bow; a few seconds later he stood straight looking to the other. "It's a pleasure to meet both you and Sin." he said calmly he couldn't exactly say anything about someone having a conversation he couldn't see given he done the exact same with his summons. "I am glad to be your partner on this job." he said as he thought over the job details thinking what would be the best course of action, so they could do this task with as little resistance and loss of life as possible. "The information given is that women are being kidnapped and then sold on as slaves in a less than savoury manner; if I was a slaver in a town like this the docks is where I would hold my captives until I could get the ship ready." he said in a thoughtful manner, then there was the next issue "We need to investigate without arousing suspicion there's a lot of ground to cover." he knew what his older brother would suggest given his looks so was glad he wasn't around.
He looked to Ruben tilting his head for a moment "Do you have any ideas on what we should do Ruben?" he knew most likely he could deal with this job on his own given how low the rank was, but this was more about helping a newer mage get some experience so he would leave the final decisions to Ruben. It was then he seen the rusted weapons that Ruben was holding and raised an eyebrow "Those certainly will not do any damage." he said undoing the strap for his rapier and holding it out to the other "Please I insist you use this while we do this task." he said knowing that his rapier was well made of a metal not even found on this plane of existence, he had no idea if the daggers were sentimental or not but he could tell with the oxygenation, rust and somewhat dull blades they would do little to no damage at all; if they are indeed sentimental he would hate for them to be destroyed or damaged at all.

Re: A step in the right direction
Women are being sold to people as slaves. Why does it have to be specifically women, unless, they are being used for that! That would explain the unsavory manner Ruvel added to the end though. Ruben looked down for a second, thinking of what to do. "Nice to work with you too,Ruvel. Even though being at the docks is a bit obvious,it's the most likely place to go," Ruben added. "We need a plan to stop this," Sin said to Ruben,"Otherwise,we either die, those women get taken away,or both." "Not helping Sin! Anyway,I can think of three ways we can do this." Ruben put his hands together and prepared his list.
"Number one,we go in for a full frontal assault. Magic blazing, weapons swinging, bodies dropping. Problems with that though is that, well it'll arouse suspicion, which we need to avoid. We also don't know what they're capable of. They could have an entire room filled with guns and have explosive magic. It'll also most likely cause harm to the women we're trying to save, and everyone too close. Number two,we sneak in and take down each of them. Good for not arousing suspicion, unless the people are out in the open. A problem arises though. Are we even equipped to take down some slavers stealthily? This is why I have this back up plan. We go in and save all the women first, and seal off the area from other people. Then we can do plan one or two easier, because no one will get hurt. How do those sound?" Ruben asked after he finally finished listing off his plans.
He raised up his daggers. "These? These have some sentimental value, but you're right. They'll barely do anything. But,I can't take that! It's your property, and you went through a lot just to get it!" "Ruben, how about this. When these pathetic excuse for weapons breaks, you use the rapier." "Okay Sin. He just said that I can use your weapon, after these things break."

Re: A step in the right direction
Even a blind person could see that the other wasn't happy with the information he had just received, not that Ruvel could blame him such things was a horrible thing to do to another person. He wondered why there was so much evil in the world, why people believed they had the right to mistreat others. Times like these he wished he could feel negative emotions but in truth he was numb to that stuff, he just knew it wasn't right more so as he had been a victim of such people in more ways than one. He was brought out of his mind as the other spoke about it being an obvious choice and agreed with him but he also knew it would likely be the easiest way to get people out of the city without much of a fuss. Money made the world go round after all and it was easy to bribe those down on their luck or blackmail those in power. "I agree Ruben, this being said sometimes the obvious choice can be the right one if you add in other factors such as the guards being on high alert around the city, that every vehicle coming in and out is checked. It is true so are ships but it's easy enough to make a container soundproof and say a certain substance inside, they won't check these containers due to contamination or the chance of being incinerated ectra." He was a trader after all and his elder brother had told him the ins and outs of such things as did the dock masters, given his post and being his brothers right hand he needed to know each aspect even if he wasn't yet expected to have such responsibilities.
Ruvel listened to what the other had to say and debated what he had put forward as potential plans, there was another option but he truly disliked the thought of it. He thought he should put it forward none the less, with a sigh he looked to the other "There's another option..." he said gently "Given my appearance even in the clothing I'm wearing right now, I could dress as a girl..." he continued knowing there'd be a high chance that they would attack him more so as he gave off no magical aura naturally "If and when I am taken by them you could just follow and we could do a pincer strike at night." he suggested seeing what the other thought of such a thing, it would cut down the work as the docks had many ships and storage houses. It was to much ground to cover and they had no idea how long it was before the slavers would send their 'cargo' to their buyers. He didn't want these women to suffer at the hands of others, some may not even survive the voyage and die along the way due to starvation, dehydration or even temperature then there was factors of medical conditions and sudden conditions that could happen.
He blinked at Ruben as he spoke about how he was correct in believing that they may have been sentimental, but was surprised when he declined the offer to use his weapon as it was his belonging. "You are correct that the rapier is my property, however..." he pointed to the rusted daggers "Things that are sentimental shouldn't be broken as they can never be replaced." he said to him knowing that they could be replaced in essence or even fixed but the meaning would be lost "So please, I insist you use my rapier, it's made of a special material and is imbued with a few magical abilities; besides if we agree on my plan I can't be wearing it." he said allowing him to make the final decision of which of the four plans would be the course of action they would take.
