"Do you know how terrifying ghosts are?"
Spectra could only assume that Ariadne was okay, it seemed that the only mage that was a real threat to anyone was the leader, who was very good at running and hiding but Spectra was bored of playing cat and mouse. Flying above the tree tops to get an aerial view she saw nothing out of the ordinary. Then again, it was a massive jungle. An endless sea of green with giant trees that obscured her vision of the jungles floor.
"Damn it." She said, going just below the treeline in order to scout properly.
This continued for a long time, Spectra was ready to give up and leave this tribe to fend for itself, who cared if some thief got a book that controls wild life? Big deal. Then, it happened! The environment seemed to be changing again but Spectra saw it's center, the cause behind such a strange phenomenon. Near one of the smaller temples, on the peak, sat a man. From above the temple must have blended with nature, but from this angle she could see it and him perfectly and sure enough, there in his arms was that book. Usually you'd approach a situation like this with caution, but Spectra had never been one to think things through.
"Hey, you dummy! Give it back!" She called out, cupping her hands around her mouth so that she could be hard from the distance.
The man was shocked that someone had found him but when he saw who it was he only laughed. Spectra slowly walked closer, putting her hand on her hip as she looked above at the man.
"I almost pity you. Laughing at me? Clearly your delusional, thinking you could steal that artifact and get away with it." The man did not take her seriously at all, and instead opened the book, blatantly ignoring Spectra who was trying her best to be serious, but sometimes your best isn't good enough.
"HEY LOOK AT ME I'M TRYING TO HAVE A MOMENT HERE!" She screamed in anger, which really got his attention.
"Shut up brat. I'm trying to read." Spectra couldn't believe this.
"Just who do you think you are! Talking to a princess like that! Hmph." And with that, several ghosts came flying from her body, tangling themselves around the man in order to bind them and as a result he dropped the book.
"Well, that was easy." She chimed, skipping in the air to go collect the book that was falling down the temples side. Much to her surprise, the book was swiped away and the man had... broken free? It seemed he was a lot stronger than his grunts and this was going to pose a real challenge. Spectra flew after the book but it just kept going out of her reach.
"This is so unfair! Cheater!" She teased the man, who was not happy about the situation.
"Let's get this over with huh? Why don't you just give up." Spectra thought about his suggestion, and totally agreed. Clapping her hands together she called out,
"Well... I guess you're right! Bye bye now." She turned, shrugging and preparing to walk away but the mans voice stopped her.
"HEY! I'm not letting you off that easy." It seemed he had learned of the books power because the animals of the jungle growled and snarled, appearing from the shadows as they surrounded Spectra, only one word came to mind in this very unfavorable situation.
