- Job Description: Tenroujima, or Tenrou Island, is a grand, isolated island of deep mystery, secrecy and a bridge between the absurd, grey-scaled realities of Earthland and the colorful yet deceiving fantasies of a creative kids' folktale. Every Fairy Tail Wizard should know about this remote island floating off at the sea, never having a clear location or set of coordinations designated to it. How the guild even found this magical island in the first place is just as big a mystery as the properties of the island itself, but ever since the foundation of the guild, Tenrou Island has been a high, sacred location loved and honored by its patron Wizards. The only known sure passage to the island is held deep beneath the guild's hall as a large mirror with a vortex of magic intended to send you there the moment you step in...
Besides the wonderful wildlife consisting of hoofed creatures, talking beavers, badgers and wolves with matching, black-and-blue fur and feathers roaming the woods, majestic birds with plumages straight from Paradise bathing in the sky’s air and ambient light, large iguanas and mermaids relaxing on the shores of the island and turtles seeking shelter in the primordial caves while being mounted day and night by jolly gremlins, this world of wonder is one of the very few safe havens for a species of tiny, magical creatures with most sentient consciences akin to humans as well as stocks of ancient, reality-bending Magic; these creatures are called Fairies, the pygmy-sized mascots of the rowdy guild itself.
These naturally mischievous but helpsome fellas have founded an old society in Tenrou Island much akin to a well-functioning monarchy – with a seating monarch, groups and squads who defend the society from the wilderness of Tenrou Island as well as architects of the tiny cities built on tree crowns and shrubbery. There are many other minor roles present in this society – bakers, artists, babysitters and delinquents - and they’re all scattered around the vegetation in their small huts, cottages, caves and carved leafscrapers (not skyscrapers). Up until now, there had been relative peace between the Fairies despite past disputes and conflicts - even pygmae creatures with jolly senses of humour don't always get along - but why start chasing trouble when the island was so isolated from the rest of the world, preventing any from trespassing and making a mess of their territory? The only way to the island was through Fairy Tail, and they kept knowledge of the portal’s existence within their walls. No one but them would ever be able to reach the island…
R-Right?
Against all odds, someone found Tenrou Island on their own! And whaddya know, as soon as these strangers set foot on the island, chaos followed suit. The aftermath of the violent clashes between Fairies and these natives of Ishgar can now be seen all over the island; huge veins of golden mana permanently cling to the soil and the leaves, burning down on the fruitful grounds. Ethernano is constantly sapped away from all it touches. Whoever arrived proved to have planned this visit in advance, overwhelming the unready Fairies with spells and magic complementing their objective to reach the Core Tree in the middle of Tenrou Island… but ever since they advanced towards the tree, they hadn’t been heard from again. The Fairies were weary, had lost valuable assets and were distraught beyond shaking it off as just a devious lick.
Fairy Tail would very quickly notice a disturbance in their Guild Marks, messing with their mana and rendering many of their spells off and imbalanced. Sometimes, their spells wouldn’t even be cast, and the attention would gather en masse and point to the Guild Mark’s malfunctioning as the reason behind it. Knowledge of the Guild Mark’s material, the magical ink, and its origin will lead them all to visit Tenrou Island and put a stop to the molestation of the Core Tree, the destruction of its inhabitants and the silent siege of the entire island.
Enemies:
- Tempest:
Name: Tempest
Background: Tempest seeks conflict everywhere. He’s terrorized the coasts of Minstrel for years, claiming that he will stop his mad attacks if he can be caught just once. No one knows where he even came from or why he commands an entire ship as a one-man army, but he drew Acennan’s attention… and as mentally deficient as Tempest was, he relished the idea of stealing this treasure that Fairy Tail was keeping a secret from everyone.
Magic:
Requip
Tempest spams Requip all the fucking time. Flintlock pistols on stack, oversized cutlasses on stack, steel cannonballs on stack, ropes on stack, throwing knives on stack, anchors on stack, and he’s able to wield all of these with marksman expertise. He draws his weapons from his ship - the one all the Raven Tail members used to get to the island - and with it hiding deep under the ocean near the coast like a submarine, he fears not that anyone will find and destroy his endless arsenal. His ferocity in combat made people forget his real name…
- Sangreal:
Name: Sangreal
Background: A Minstrelois lady is rarely seen in the heat of battle, but Sangreal eclipses all her peers in the art of swordsmanship regardless. She’s built up a reputation of being the most illustrious swordwielder in the entire land, and with soooooooo many hype-beasts and clout-chasers in Minstrel, she’s had her fair share of challenges to maintain her title. She was considered unbeatable until she met Acennan on his journey, who managed to come to a stalemate with her and convinced her of a way to grow even more powerful (some rumors say that he convinced her with bedding). Honor, setting an example, magnifique, Sangreal valued the opportunity to grow stronger, and especially the notion of fighting Fairy Tail and a certain other, legendary swordsman who calls the guild home…
Magic:
Psychokinesis
Her arsenal contains the power of psychokinesis - the ability to physically affect objects out of her reach with the power of her mind. Without moving, she can aim to control her foe’s own limbs and turn them against themselves, but it comes with a catch; the stronger the target, the more mana she has to spend in order to affect them. Therefore, despite the vast potential her Magic holds, she rarely uses it on more than one target at a time. To ensure its full potential, however, she also carries with her a blade of legend from the land of Minstrel - Durendal, a long and sturdy sword for one-handed swordsmanship. With that and her psychokinesis, she aims to preserve her reputation for cutting down any sword that ever met her path.
- Regi:
Name: Regi
Background: Regi doesn’t talk and has nothing to say, anyway. Acennan found him chained up deep inside a crypt in Minstrel. Upon freeing the demon, Acennan came to learn that Regi was like a newborn goat. Acennan took him in and installed within his heart an unbreakable loyalty to Raven Tail, and now he uses his own body as a shield against anything Fairy Tail throws at them.
Magic:
Absorption
Regi absorbs Magic and converts it into its respective type of Ethernano in an instant. This allows him to shake off almost any manner of magical damage, and he uses this ability to a gruesome degree. He can manipulate the Ethernano and manifest black objects with the same magic-absorbing properties to hurl at the foes, making him a nightmare to deal with as a mage of any rank. Being of demonic heritage, however, it was theorized that Demon Slayer Magic might work on him, but it wasn’t documented whether anyone had tried that before…
- Praise:
Name: Praise
Background: Praise hails from Stella, where he recently began causing havoc upon obtaining Dragon Slayer Magic from a secret ore. Succumbing slowly to the urges of a bloodthirsty wyrm due to past traumas catching up to him, toppled with the draconification, he feared that he’d soon lose all sense of who and what he is. With the help of a Lacrima, he manages to contain his draconian body within a more humanoid figure - while most of his psyche seemingly remains without side-effects, he grows more ferocious by the day. Somehow, on a wander across Minstrel’s fields, he was talked into joining Acennan’s spiteful guild and accompany his Guildmaster on a conquest to Tenrou Island, but how Acennan convinced him to do so remains a mystery.
Magic:
Metal Dragon Slayer
Praise possesses Metal Dragon Slayer Magic, and every inch of his body can be transformed into a sturdy, sharp or heavy weapon. If push comes to shove, he can even liquify the metals he manifests or even liquify himself for defensive purposes. He keeps his metallic body together with electric pulses from his additional Lightning Magic, and combining those two arcanas grants him the lethality of a dragon-powered railgun.
- LouLou:
Name: LouLou
Background: Truth be told, Acennan… doesn’t remember where LouLou came from or why he was suddenly a member of Raven Plume in days past. He had tried asking the suspicious male about his origins before, but LouLou was far from a consistent conversationalist and kept dismissing Acennan’s worries concerning the blonde esso-mage’s past. Maybe he’s not even from this world…
Magic:
Essotranslation
LouLou’s strange predicament is that his Magic allows him to copy and use magical powers solely from other dimensions… but it always requires him to pull his foes into those worlds along with him to take effect. His strategy is to lure them into coming into contact with his hands, from which they will all be taken to whatever alternate dimension fate mixes up, and then he overwhelms them with either a Lucky Power (something that works in his favor to accomplish his objective) or a Dud (aka a comical moment). If he gets a Dud, he’ll often try again and again and again until he gets something useful to destroy his foes with. A drawback is that he’s not very experienced with this Magic, so while he always keeps the previous powers he discovered for himself, he only has three to start out with; Fire Magic, Banana-Peeling Magic and Flight Magic.
- Kagami:
Name: Kagami
Background: Kagami was a freelancing mercenary in Midi, reaping rewards from all of his successful jobs including assassinations, vandalisms and even human trafficking. Rumors said that he accidently killed his own parents with his Magic, and that the event had spiraled him deep into a silent, monotone state of insanity. His cold, unreactive ruthlessness made him infamous across Midi’s outer lands, and quite many were happy to hear that a mage from Fiore had taken Kagami away and spared the country of such a demon.
Magic:
Absolute Zero
Kagami possesses a unique variation of Ice Magic that allows him to fully manipulate the speed of molecules in a certain area around. This allows him to ultimately freeze the air akin to other Cryomages, but it also allows him to slow the momentum of his opponents upon contact, which results in any enemy attacks losing impact. When push comes to shove, he can take his Magic a step further and begin to slow down time a little bit, but time-manipulation takes a huge toll on the user’s body and mana, and he refrains from using that unless his life is in danger.
- Jahal:
Name: Jahal
Background: Street brawls used to occur often in the village where Jahal was raised, treated as local entertainment for the audience and as an honored sport for the participants. When Jahan was of age, he too participated in the street fights that took place, and while strict rules were put in place by the majority of the people who held these ‘tournaments’ of sorts, the young Jahal quickly came to realize that many of them were breaking the one, first rule in street brawling – prohibition of any magical use. Humiliated countless times by these cheaters, Jahal ventured into the deserts in search of a legend; one of the ancient God-Kissed, or the remains of one such. He had gained help from various grave robbers and archaeologists along the way, and upon discovering a grave of one of these God-Kissed, he found information about this one’s magical eyes. Still intact, he did the unthinkable and gouged out his own eyes, filling his now empty eye sockets with the ancient eyes of this God-Kissed.
Jahal never lost a brawl ever since then. However, due to the inherent corruption of these street brawls, he was quickly banished from entering any of them ever again – this led to a gruesome fight between him and the other brawlers, which was the time where he met Acennan and joined his guild in search of a more powerful challenge.
Magic:
Perfect Martial Eyes
Those yellow eyes of his aren’t just for show; those are precious Mystic Eyes, and each one possesses an Unbound Spell. His right eye constantly simulates future events and actions taken by entities within his field of sight, and while its limit is 30 seconds into the future, it allows him to read his opponents’ every move. To compensate for the possibility of being overwhelmed regardless, in contrast to Acennan who granted his right eye such an ability, he self-taught his left eye a spell that uses the information processed by the right eye and alters the anatomy, structure and density of his body as much as Jahal can take in order to ready himself for the most efficient, possible counter to his premonition. With those two eyes, he’s never lost a battle in Desierto for over 10 years.
- Hachiman:
Name: Hachiman
Background: Hachiman was once a renowned, respected Onmyōji back in Midi. When Acennan met him during his training to become a God Slayer, Hachiman was anything but respected; he never explained the events that led him to become what he is today, but one particular day, Hachiman began… eating yōkai. At first, it was thought that he simply ate hostile enemies, but it was frowned upon - and when he began eating his own town’s protective shikigami, he was quickly banished. His travels across Midi caused locals to spread the news of a being who eats yōkai of all kinds - and that he had a treasured taste for females in particular.
It didn’t stop there, though. When Acennan found him, Hachiman had eaten over 110 women. He had become a deadly criminal with a heavy bounty on his head, feared among all Midijin. Just what Raven Tail needed…
Magic:
Onmyōdō
Hachiman possesses a handful of varied spells in his arsenal; he can summon shikigami himself, taking the forms of golems with bodies made of crystallized Ethernano that answer his beck and call. His body can regenerate by substituting the damaged parts with body parts of the victims he’s eaten. He possesses a spell that inhibits a yōkai’s movements, which he takes leisurely pleasure in abusing as food on a dish shouldn’t be able to run away while he gnaws into them with his fangs. Even Acennan himself doesn’t know how many other spells this madman has… but those two fans he carries with him at all times seem to be useful in combat, too.
- Acennan:
Name: Acennan
Background: Acennan always despised Fairy Tail, believe it or not. From a very young age when most kids would look up to the cool heroes in their hometown, Acennan thought them too… alien. Otherworldly. He couldn’t relate to them in any way, and it seeded distaste for them in his heart… he grew almost fearful of them. Acennan was a kid back in the years of the 3rd and 4th Guildmaster of Fairy Tail, so he had experienced quite a handful of crises directly connected to the conflicts that Fairy Tail attracted. As if that wasn’t enough to skewer his mind deep down a tube of tar and rotten thoughts, as he grew up and began training his own Magic, he wanted to found his own Guild and rival them. If the legendary Dragonbane could do it, then so could he, right?
He grew to think that Fairy Tail wasn’t even that impressive - that his paranoia was uncalled for and without basis. However, as much as he tried to convince himself of that, the lingering fear would remain in his heart for the rest of his life.
His new guild, Raven Plume, did not flourish one bit when attempting to rival a guild as established as Fairy Tail. He considered relocating somewhere else and start all over, but an assault was made on Magnolia Town, and it appeared that Fairy Tail was tarnished. Who was it, again… Savage Skull? Fairy Tail sure made many enemies over time, and look at all the lives being taken by those mad warlords, and yet… when Acennan thought that competition was taken care of by fate, they re-emerged and grew in numbers once again. The invaders were driven away, albeit they were on the winning end a moment ago. It was illogical, completely unreasonable. Even after the failure of protecting the town, the people still rallied Fairy Tail’s name like saints! That was when he had enough and left Magnolia Town for many years… something was wrong with Fairy Tail, they were using some kind of arcane spell to climb back to the top, weren’t they? Those sick, little cheaters…
He met a certain relic of the past during his travels and attempts to figure out what made Fairy Tail such a robust guild despite its loudmouth population, its destructive habits, its chaotic memberbase and its entropic tendency to invite trouble from all four corners of the world. Said relic, however, influenced him to even worse ends and transformed his understandable jealousy to something even purer… hatred.
None of Raven Tail’s members know about this relic, but Acennan’s genius and investigation of Magnolia led him to discover that Fairy Tail had access to a secret location in the vast ocean. He traveled through Desierto, Minstrel and Midi to recruit suitable wizards with terrifying powers, and along with a tightly-gathered guild and himself, he set sail and visited Tenrou Island - a feat that had not been achieved ever since the Fairies first set foot on the soil. At first, they were skeptically treated by the native Fairies, but their caution didn’t save them from Acennan’s drive.
Now, he discovered the Core Tree. Everything went to hell after that point, and Acennan shows no signs of stopping his mad siphoning.
Magic:
Soul God Slayer
His God Slayer Magic grants him manipulation of spiritual energy. Every hit from him releases Ethernano that target the foe’s soul and auric essence, rapturing them or pulling their souls from their bodies for various purposes. This also grants Acennan a slightly sturdier mind that doesn’t easily bend or shatter to illusion or traumas. He mostly manifests his Magic as waves of light from his katana that cut through everything in their paths. On top of that, his enhanced self is granted a vision seconds ahead of the present, a sort of precognitive ability that allows him to gain the upper hand on anything his opponent attempts to perform. Lastly, after having eaten his Master in days past, his God Force is much more dense than expected from any other seasoned God Slayer. A wrathful abomination is all that hides under his human skin at this point.
