The porcelain-white moon shined over the heads and the buildings in Rose Garden. Radiant moonbeams danced and shimmered through the windows whose velvet-red curtains were pulled apart to let in the intoxicating natural light of the moon. Hovering above the brown tables in the small bistro were enchanting yellow wisps of flame which captivated the eye. On this lovely night, Victor Gennady Vinn had found himself with his assistant, Helene Eve, in the beautiful city of Rose Garden, the base of operations to the legal guild, Black Rose. However, this wasn’t the duo’s first time in the City of Magic. A few days prior, the two had come here to obtain their passports so they could travel to the other nations of Earth-land freely despite their membership in a dark guild. Again, they were in the city to fulfill a somewhat odd job request to test a new restaurant’s latest batch of fermented brew. While the task wasn’t the most exciting to Victor, mortician and self-proclaimed arcane researcher, he had agreed to take the job at the request of his undead experiment, Helene.
A high-pitch ring resonated through the air as Victor pushed the door open for Helene. He held it open for her to enter the brasserie as he would for any member of the same or opposite gender. It was little acts of chivalry the researcher pride himself on. “Thank you, Master Victor,” Helene said as she entered through the door and was greeted with the lovely site of the room only lite by the yellow wisps of flame. “It is a beautiful restaurant,” She commented to herself. “Hello, Ma’am and Monsieur. You two must be the wizards, who have agreed to sample my newest brew.” A light voice signaled by the ringing bell greeted both Helene and Victor. It didn’t take long before a figure came into the duo’s field of vision. A woman of slender physique who possessed shoulder length curly crimson-red hair. Her eyes were a sapphire blue. She was dressed in a snow-white traditional chef outfit matched with the hat. “Yes, my name is Helene Eve and this man is my master, Victor,” Helene said before she curtsied in front of their client. Victor allowed the brown wooden door to shut behind him before he strolled to the location where his client and bowed deeply before his client. “Yes, I am Victor. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Madam. My deepest apologies, I didn’t ask you your name first.” Victor said. “Yes, I didn’t happen to introduce myself. My name is Jeanne Margaux, head chef, and owner of this restaurant known Brin. But allow me to escort both of you to your table where you will be testing out my latest draught,” Jeanne replied.
The chef began to walk away expecting Helene and Victor to follow behind her. Victor leads the way with Helene behind him. He still was a bit confused on why his assistant had fervently requested they take this job. While Victor wasn’t opposed to drinking a bit of wine from time to time. He couldn’t figure out why an undead would want to go to a place like this. Perhaps, it was because he was able to reconnect a few basic nerve endings which allowed her to taste and such. To give her, a few more traits which made her seem more like a normal living creature. Victor couldn’t figure it out. He smiled to himself. “Perhaps, the greatest mystery in this world is the inner workings of the female mind.” He muttered in a hushed tone. “What was that, Master Victor?” Helene inquired not being able to make out her master’s words completely. “Nothing at all, Helene. Just admiring the décor of this establishment. Brin means wisp in French, correct? Is it name this because of the will-o-wisps that you have floating over the tables, Jeanne?” Victor asked as the trio made their way to the table. He pulled the seat out for Helene. “Yes, I am surprised that you caught it, Victor. I have always loved fire magic since I was a child. So, I thought why not incorporate a part of it into the design of my restaurant. I will be back in a moment.” Jeanne walked back to the kitchen and brought back a single bottle of wine. While she was gone, Victor sat down across from his assistant. The faint light of the hovering wisps dancing on their faces.
Victor placed his hand on the table surface and looked at the wisp. “Quite fascinating. I wonder… How is our host capable of sustaining these will-o-wisps?” Victor spoke to himself. “A lacrima? Could be. If so then the design is quite impressive since it can provide a constant flame and even adjust to outside influences such as win force. What do you think, Helene?” He asked her. Helene’s hair began to reach forward and grab her creator’s hand.[color=#ff6699] “I think it is nice we are able to spend time together, Victor.” She said happily. “We never go outside of the funeral home besides to go to the guild or on a mission to do research.” Helene looked away for a moment. “Oh… I am sorry. It is obvious that you would develop an interest in things outside of the home. If you wish to go out and do more things, then.” Victor began to reply before he was interrupted by Jeanne. “I brought back the bottle.” The chef replied. Helene let out a low sigh. What was she doing? Perhaps something was wrong with her. She always liked being around her creator, but she didn’t want to leave his side now. She wanted to do more things that just research into magic. Helene shook her head. She wouldn’t let herself get down. After all, she was spending time with him now.
Jeanne uncorked the bottle of wine and tipped the bottle over a bit. The dark red fluid cascaded into the first glass and then into the second. Victor and Helene picked up their respective glass and brought them to their lips. The liquid brushed past their lips. They took a gulp and placed the glasses on the back of the table. “It was really good, Jeanne,” Helene replied with a smile. “Yes, it was quite the refreshing brew. It was a bit tart but has a satisfying sweet aftertaste. Strawberry wine?” Victor inquired. “Yes, I thought a strawberry wine would be nice. I heard that one of the old Wizard Saints loved strawberries.” Jeanne responded. “Go ahead and drink as much as you like. The alcohol content is actually quite low.” She admitted. For the rest of the night, the trio conversed by the magical light of the wisp. While most Victor’s questions were centered around the inner workings of Jeanne’s restaurant. It was still a good night for Helene. Since, she was able to spend time with her creator – outside of the laboratory.
