    Lester Drynedi ❀ Crystal Swan

The squad had received a assignment during one of Lesters breaks, he had been back home in Clover town for a short while which was rather common, yet having been split apart from his team the young man had arranged for them to come into Oshibana on the train from Magnolia town. His back rested against the grating stone of the train station as heels clicked in impatience, the train had arrived a few moments earlier yet those inside hadn’t stepped foot off the transport. His impatience showed through, lip gathered in between his teeth with creases forming between the eyes, parchment clutched in one hand as his back was weighted by a leather bag. It was a map, finely crafted ad brough from a nearby store, yet an odd red circle had been placed on the map of Oshibana and its surrounding area. He had done research jobs before, plants, group, yet the one that stood out was when he had worked to discover the source of the plague. He didn’t mind the nature of this job, researching the origins of a magic circle, despite not being plant based research the youthful figure thought he had a fair chance.

A croissant squishy in one hand as he tore part of it odd, carefully letting the soft breakfast settle in his mouth before gulping it down, he normally attire softly flapped out him as a slight wind picked up the white cape fabric and played with it. The sun indicating it was a few hours prior to midday his worry had built up, surely they would get off that train soon. Val was curled around his neck as a scarf and he really wanted to just get on with messing around with that magic circle. He had left his Grandmother back at home with a rather large bouquet order.

"So then, I had to squeeze through a naturally eroded fissure in the stones to get to the ruby mermaid chamber--GAH!"

Theo had been angled slightly as he walked down the train's short exit steps to reach the platform, not wanting to interrupt the story he was telling Rin as they disembarked, but aware that their surroundings were noisy enough that if he had his face completely away from her, she probably couldn't hear him. It was his ultimate undoing, since his clumsy ways immediately took hold of him and threw him before he could even reach the last step, belly-flopping the poor treasure fanboy onto the cold, dirty surface of the train station just yards from their impatiently waiting friend. It knocked the wind from his lungs, leaving him to attractively writhe and wiggle on the ground, turning over onto his back to wheeze in gasps of air. He looked quite like a goldfish out of water.

Once he was able to do so, a blushing Theo pulled himself up and brushed his usual tracksuit off, grinning apologies and greetings alike. He looked just like he always did while fully awake, black tracksuit with a white T-shirt beneath the jacket, his omnipresent pale teal scarf around his neck, and worn brown boots that told many stories of caves and other road less traveled places. What was different, however, was the white fabric crossing his chest diagonally, forming a make-shift strap for the black handled sword wrapped in white on his back. Lester had made the assignment sound a little serious, so he thought he'd better be safe than sorry, though it was clear that the weapon made him inexplicably uncomfortable.

"Les! Long time no see. I missed you," Theo grinned, trying to shrug off his embarrassment by replacing it with other thoughts.

Theo's story was quite intriguing! It was always nice to hear about her friend's various treasure hunting expeditions. They seemed to be quite dangerous in most cases, but she secretly wished that she could join him on one of them someday. It would be so cool! She could be a real treasure hunte- wait... Where did he go? He was there talking one moment, then suddenly gone the next? Did he know how to teleport or something? Hearing muffled groans and gasps, Rin finally looked down, seeing her friend writhing on the floor. What was he doing down there? Had he tripped or something? "Uh! Are you okay?!" The girl gasped, stopping for a moment to look at her fallen friend.

He got up almost as quickly as he had fallen, seeming to be quite flustered by his own clumsiness. "You need to be more careful!" Rin lectured, pouting at the black haired boy. "Not like you're one to talk, Miss Klutz." Lily chimed in, snickering smugly. Well... She couldn't really argue with that one. The squad had met because of her carelessness. It had been a good thing in that case, though!

Noticing that Theo had spotted Lester, the young girl perked up, excited to see her other squadmate. "Lesterrrr!~" She cried, running forward to engulf him in a gentle embrace. It was always nice when the three of them came together for a mission! Though, this one seemed to be a bit more serious than the jobs they normally took. Magic circles were coming out of nowhere, and with them, monsters. It was unclear if those two things were related, but Rin had a gut feeling that they were. Because of the seriousness of the mission, she had packed a bit more than she normally would. Snacks, water, her tablet, and her trusty teddy bear were all shoved haphazardly into the small bag, making it a bit of a pain to carry.

Smiling enthusiastically, the pink haired girl sprang into action, ready to get started. Throwing her fist out in front of her, she punched the air in front of her. "Come on! Let's kick some monster butt!"

    Lester Drynedi ❀ Crystal Swan

Lester had been enchanted by the motion of the people through the windows, they streamed and moved as if they had merged together into an ocean. Surely Rin and Theo would be in there somewhere, would it be perhaps Theo? A loud penetrating hard voice which would cut through the air with his callings of food? or might it be something more like Rin walking into one of the pillars of the station?
Questions only got him so far, left unanswered until a familiar motion from an unfamiliar body dragged his eyes towards a certain cluster of bodies. Darkening shadows, it was a color scheme which was familiar to him as the flowers with which he worked. Being far more used to seeing Rin collapse and bumble around Lester held a slight surprise at seeing Theo make love to the ground. Amusement caught his eyes up into a smile as his legs took him a little closer.

Theo appeared to easily find his feet again, clearing clothing of dust and grit. "Theo! You made it in mostly one piece!"  A chuckle bringing his brows together as the youth conveyed his spring flower greeting towards the blue eyed boy. If he was here, mostly alive and well then Rin, a shimmer of colour, pink peeking through the curtain of natural hues. She dragged his name out, reaching forth with energy to entangle him in a warm hug. Arms circling her for a moment to repay the efforts.

With the both of his companions here Lesters mind went to the staff strapped to his back alongside a small bag, although the whirling cape covered it he felt rather comfortable, the other two seemed ready. Rin even voicing that which had been lurking in his mind. "Everyone looks ready! Lets go, are you two okay with just walking?" Travelling by train may have cramped their legs, or perhaps had the duo settled into the life of luxury and relaxing? Voice soft as he spoke the words Lesters gaze graced its way down to the friendship bracelet circling his left wrist, the other two had their own. Trinity Rose, Silver and Gold. "We all know pretty much the same thing anyway, but about a 20 minute walk out of the town there have been some circles appearing. Heaps of theories floating around and all but we just have to go and poke around!" It was changeable, his mood about it. Whilst he adored the research and deciphering of mysteries he had been dragged away from helping his Grandmother and there was more important things to do in life than travel to Oshibana every-time some kid painted a crappy shape.

Eyes grew wide, watermelons bursting and ripe as he sped a few steps ahead of his companies steps and twisted around, skipping backwards happily with a small bounce. He had taken something similar on a job a month back with his partner, Darius or something. Hand slipping into the bag attacked at the back of his hips snowy hair embraced the amused face of the youth as he presented his partners with a small napkin wrapped package each. No words. Just an offering. Sweet treats inside as bargaining chips and thanks for their journey, sugared fruits. Whilst he hadn't perfected sugaring petals yet there were tiny slices of mandarin, grapefruit and orange all coasted in a sugary coat. Experience had taught him that the insides would be juicy and rich with such sweet yet bitter contrasting tastes.

"Walking and poking around are my specialties!" Theo chimed in, getting over his embarrassment quickly. Honestly, he fell so much, it was surprising he ever for embarrassed about it at all anymore. Maybe it was because it was right in front of his two friends, and had earned him a scolding from Rin. "Actually...that sounded really lame," the jello mage admitting once he considered his former words, heaving a sigh of exasperation with himself. Could he make himself sound any more useless?

Anywho, Theo adjusted the strap to his sword, following the skipping boy ahead of them that lead the way to the creepy circles that needed investigating. Maybe some kids were having a laugh and passing the time between childhood and adulthood by tormenting suspicious old people. Or, more nefariously, maybe someone was trying to summon some great demon that would smash all of Fiore...He laughed to himself. That probably wasn't the case at all! Ridiculous. For entertainment's sake, if it was, at least he could feel good about saving the world assuming he didn't die trying. A humble treasure hunter becoming the hero of the land along with his Sugar Squad mates sounded like a dream he'd only begun to consider. He'd never really thought about his future like that before.

His mind wandered through several other unlikely scenarios, stealing his mind away until he smelled the sweet scent of some sort of fruit. Graciously taking the napkin, he peeled it open to reveal sugared fruits. Eyes lighting up like they usually did in the presence of sugar, he plucked a slice of orange and placed it between his lips, savoring it slowly instead of his usual practice of inhaling when it came to food. Food was for the body, but sweets were for the soul and deserved some time spent enjoying it. The juices inside exploded into his mouth, earning Lester an "Mmmmm~" of approval. Les always had the best edibles.

They walked along at a good pace and Theo managed to avoid tripping any more. However, his mind was troubled. He had no research experience. All he could do was sniff out things he or other people wanted found. He was a good explorer, and a decent fighter in a pinch, but he wasn't very academically minded. "What will we do when we get there? Any idea how we can tell if these weird circles are just a prank or actually something bad? Can plant life tell you stuff like that, Lester?" he asked, tilting his head like a pup hearing an odd sound for the first time and not know what to make of it. "Science-y stuff like soil samples...I mean, I can literally poke around, but I don't know what that would do..." he added, forming a long jello staff in his hand that was frozen solid. He jabbed it into the ground as if to demonstrate how literally he meant poking around, unable to see how it would help at all. After that, he just used his staff as a walking stick, twirling it every so often like a baton.

Sweets? The delicious scent of sugary treats wafted towards her nostrils as Lester opened a small, napkiny package. Grabbing the offering in an almost greedy manner, the pink haired girl shoved as many of the delicacies into her mouth as she could possibly manage. Unlike Theo, she wasn't going to waste any time when it came to something like this. Her and Lily hadn't eaten anything that morning, so her hunger overrode any sort of logic she might have had. Plus, it just happened to be sweets. How could she resist? Taking a large chomp into the mouthful of fruit, she paused, feeling her mouth become increasingly full for all of the sweet juice. Maybe this had been a mistake. Cheeks puffed out like some sort of strange, awkward chipmunk, she gulped, trying to drain the liquids out quickly.

Finally finishing up her snack, she rubbed her cheeks delicately. That had really made them quite sore! At least she had learned her lesson now. "You didn't even save any for me, Rin..." Lily cried, giving her human companion her best puppy dog eyes. Shrugging in response, Rin continued walking along with her friends. "H-Hey! Don't you feel even a little bit guilty?" The bunny cat creature continued. "Why would I feel guilty? You steal my food all the time, you little thief!" Rin retorted, sticking her tongue out. Theo's sudden question jarred her away from her current conversation with her pet. It seemed like he was addressing the other boy in the group, but it was almost like she knew the answer.

"Well... I have a feeling that there's something coming from the circles. I don't know what, but it's not good." Shrugging after her response, she continued onward. She really didn't know what her future reading abilities were, or where they came from, but they came in handy sometimes, even though she couldn't really control it. This time, the information was really vague, instilling nothing but a bad feeling within the pit of her stomach. The last part of the question was something she had no idea how to respond to, though. She knew next to nothing about plants, or soil as Theo had said. Could Lester really do that? Find out that much info just from the life around them? What a great power!

Stopping when she heard a sudden stabbing sound, she jumped a bit, not expecting her friend to have a large jello object in his hands. This is why she should pay more attention when she's walking. "Uh... What does that do, Theo? Can the jello thingy tell you stuff about the soil?" It was a long shot, really. Maybe he had just done that to accentuate his point? Deciding not to question it, she just continued along, follow Lester towards their destination.

When they had finally arrived, Rin pointed out the circles, spotting them a little ways in the distance. "There..." she mumbled a bit nonchalantly. They happened to be quite a bit bigger than she had been expecting. Instead of heading directly towards the circles, though, she decided that it might be better to go to the village first, to see what the people were saying about it. "We should go see how people are doing in the village. It may be best to get some information from them before we barge into the unknown." It was a suggestion, but the way she had said it may have come off a bit more like a demand. She wanted to make sure that everyone remained safe during this mission.

Entering the village gingerly, she looked around for anyone who might be lingering outside. The place seemed to be a bit barren, possibly because of the things they were here to research. If they were as dangerous as she had imagined, then it was probably a good idea that there weren't as many people. Spotting an elderly couple strolling peacefully through the streets, the pink haired girl waved her arms about, trying to get their attention. "E-Excuse me! Could we talk to you for a moment?" Hearing the call, the couple stopped, turning around to smile at the team warmly. "Well of course, young lady! What is it that you would like to talk about?" The older woman replied. "We've been sent by the Magic Council to investigate the magic circles that have been appearing around here. Do you guys happen to know anything about them?" Their faces almost seemed to fall when they heard the mention of the circles. Did they know something?

"We don't really know anything about them. Nobody does. They came out of nowhere a few days ago. A few people went to investigate, but never came back... When word about that got out, the townsfolk started packing up and heading out. But this is our home... We couldn't bring ourselves to just leave." The man spoke this time, a gloomy look within his dark brown eyes. Everyone had left? Were they the only ones left? Looking to her friends, she waited for their responses on the subject. If this truly was as bad as these people were saying, then they would need to come up with some sort of plan.

A brow had raised at theo’s initial statement, walking and poking around huh. Yet as the other male realized what he had just said a small nod came from the florist, backing up his friends admission of how foolish the statement was. His hand soon curled around the scarf which lounged on his neck, Theo and Rin from the sounds of it had bitten into the delightful treats which he had created. It escaped him before he could hold it back, a chuckle of amusement from how Rin had stolen Lily's share. Perhaps it would be best to leave them alone, he never had any problems with val after all, that was probably due to her lack of intelligence and inability to talk, if only Lily couldn’t talk. A thought crossed his mind as the youth spun on his heels to look at the other two.  “You two seem to fight a lot, I never fight with Val you know. Although she doesn’t talk, that can solve everything!” A hand covered his mouth, “But anyway, I guess we’ll just go and poke around at them I haven’t really thought about it much”   They had made it to the village nearby, with his mind wandering and his scarf being petted the conversation with the elderly was left to RIn. His arms stretched high above his head as the scarf flowed from his neck and turned into a sloth curling around his arms. “So um, Shall we just go off and take a look at these. Ma’am make sure to look after yourself.”  He dug around awkwardly in his bag, fishing out another small wrapped package, there were countless treats in his bag. Offering them worth with a slight smile he watched as the elderly woman accepted the treats. “We will take care of this don’t worry” Val gave the villager a small wave which brought a saddened smile to her face.

After letting Rin know his staff was useless for testing soil and honestly not good for anything other than whacking people, he took pity upon her furry companion and parted with a single candied fruit. He toddled along behind his companions, eyeballing the town without much interest. It was nearly a ghost town. The only people he saw were these two old people. Most places were boarded up. A couple businesses remained in a pitiful attempt to cling to the time before these circles appeared.

Theo idly poked a depressed piece of trash rolling in the wind while Lester and Rin interacted with the grand people. How did he know it was depressed? Well, it was the only piece of trash in sight. No one was even around to think it was disgusting. These old people couldn't see it, since cataracts were a thing. One of them had a milky eye...anyway, back to this garbage. As it rolled on, disrupted by the staff's nudge from its intended course to the storm drain, Rubbish mourned his missed attempt at a final death. It seemed just like yesterday (it was) that he was a legitimate item, sitting on the shelf, excited at the prospects of what existed outside the tiny convenience store. His friends, heck, even his parents had been taken out into the sun, reaching their life's goal and achieving enlightenment and ultimate joy...or so he thought. Back then he'd been Chester Chipbag, naive and optimistic. What a bag over the head it was to find out enlightenment was finding his way into the grubby hands of tiny screeching human creature that tore him open and ravaged his insides with sticky fingers, plucking out his very being and greedily devouring what essentially were his intestines. The sunlight didn't seem so great in light of being murdered, left nothing but an empty shell in mere moments. It was the end, without ever being given the pleasure of the tender caress of another wrapper! He'd never felt his own salt and vinegar flavor powder until they were viciously rubbed into his wounds upon his formerly virgin carcass being folded serial-killer style in preparation for disposing in a baler. The pressure was unbearable, and his crinkly screams were only heard a moment before the tiny killer's caretaker shrieked and whisked him away from some demonic wasp. Not even an honorable death and funeral in the waste bin! He was left to roam, a mere wraith to be commanded by the winds of cruelty. Rubbish's body meant nothing, not even worth the time for a proper send off to the afterlife. Or, more bleakly, was this all there was? Was this the afterlife? The fate of ever snack food duped with high hopes and the lies of grandeur was joining the other misguided ghosts in the crevices of scroungy back walkways that even the godly humans were put out to traverse? Even now the darkness of an alley loomed, shading any further hopes he had, so it seemed as good a end as anything when a sandaled foot stomped him flat.

Theo's eyes blinked at the sudden sandal on the trash he'd been watching. There hadn't been anyone in sight earlier. The toes were distinctly non-pruney, and since he was feeling like a detective with all the former talk of poking around to find answers, he felt super smart in his deduction that this was not an old person. It was young, and probably a woman. How, you ask? Boy toes were usually more knobby and hairy...and attached to bigger feet. Unless these belonged to a boy child...oh crap, how do you tell? Brow creasing in frustration, Theo tried to avoid looking up for more clues. The sandal. More specifically, the type of sandal was severely out of its time. It'd been quite a long time since he'd seen this type of sandal, a flip-flop type as they called it nowadays, except the sole was wooden, more squared, and lifted just a bit off the ground by two rectangular pegs. That wasn't the type of shoe a young boy would wear, or anyone young at that. He'd find it more appropriate for a really old person, but he'd already established it was someone young by the lack of time gnarled bones and wrinkles. It was a woman, so he decided to roll with it.

Now for the reveal! Theo glanced up to the face, and his blood froze in his veins. Gray eyes. Gray eyes. Those...no. No. That was impossible. He'd know those eyes anyway. They'd gazed at him from afar, they'd loomed over him in mischief, they'd gleamed in glee, they'd smoldered in barely contained rage, they'd drowned in a sea of tears...It couldn't be those gray eyes. The one's he'd watched... no. Their blank eyes met each other, both sets in confusion and disbelief. But as dawning crested in both, Theo's gaze dissolved into something only described as deathly sickness while the gray pair were set on fire. If not for his ice staff, the young man might have fell forward, but for now he just subtly leaned. The buttermilk skin framed by black bangs, the scent brought to him on the breeze was leather and wild roses and prickled his nose. The world started spinning, blurring the brick of the alleyway with the creaminess of the figure's skin and obscuring his view of her to make sure she wasn't a phantom. He wasn't sure how long he was transfixed, but when he gathered his wits back, all he saw was a few stray locks of white disappearing around the corner.

A second, a minute, an eternity ago, she'd been standing there, glaring at him with raven hair and eyes the color of cooled ash. Had his mind made that up? Though the figure was gone, he was sure he saw white. His mind was playing cruel tricks, he told himself, even as sweat dripped down the side of his face. Without much thought, the jello mage whirled, shambling off toward the town's exit and back onto the path that would lead to the circles. The indie of his cranium was nothing more than a gruesome murder scene of where his brain function had once been. Hands grasped at jacket zipper, jerking it down to release him from its hold. He crammed it into his bag, but even that action was unable to cool his feverish flesh. It was funny. He felt physically ill, drawn yet repulsed by the memories in his head. Theo did his best to shove them away. They needed to investigate these circles. He hadn't seen anyone. This was only a moment of weakness.

"Okay! To the circles. Let's get this over with for that ancient couple. Yeah! Whooo! Last one there is a rotten egg!" Theo whooped, possibly overcompensating, but trying for enthusiasm (or maybe a sugar rush from the candy fruit) nonetheless. Ignore the gut feeling that her illusionary appearance was cautionary at the least. This moment would pass, and he'd feel normal in a moment, right? Maybe running would help? His staff disappeared, leaving his arm to tingle with numbness, but at least that didn't have any baring on his legs. Even if it took him closer to the foreboding circles, he wanted to be as far away from that town as quickly as possible. Let them think he was just excited to get started, oh please!

Distracted by Theo’s sudden shout, Rin’s head whipped away from the older couple, turning to look instead at the man who was suddenly fleeing. What the heck was he doing? Reaching a hand out towards him, as if that would stop him from moving, she called out after him. “H-Hey! Theo! Wait up! We can’t just go barging into a situation like this!” Theo was pretty dramatic and strange at times, sure, but this seemed different... He seemed almost... Panicked? Was that the right way to describe it? Yeah... That seemed right. But why? All they had been doing was talking to some elderly people. Perhaps he had a fear of old people?!? Oh dear... “E-Excuse us! We’ll try our best to figure out what’s going on around here, okay? Just... Stay somewhere safe, alright?” She rushed, bowing to the couple before grabbing Lester’s arm and pulling him along with her. “A-Alright! Um... Be careful!” The woman called after them, waving nervously as they departed.

Huffing dramatically as she caught up with the black haired male, Rin released the other male’s arm, bending downwards to place her hands on her bent knees. Wow... She really needed to get in better shape! "Y-You... ehhh... Shouldn't just run off like that!" She huffed, looking up to Theo with a small pout. Standing upright once more, she placed a hand on his shoulder, looking into his ice blue hues fiercely. "This is a potentially dangerous situation. You have to stay alert at all times! If something were to come out of these circles, and you had been alone, you could have gotten hurt!" It was strange how her mood and pattern of speech would change in situations like this. It was almost like... She had been conditioned somehow? Well... In a way... She had been... Shaking her head, she tried to dismiss the thoughts. Now was not the time to bring her past back up! "Anyways, we should really-"

A bright flash of light... It was blinding. "Urgh..!" The groan left the girl's throat, eyes squinting and head turning as the flash intensified. Was it coming from the circles!? They hadn't even gotten a good look at them, and things were already happening?! After a few moments, it seemed that the brightness had faded, bringing the area back to it's normal state. What had just happened? Opening her eyes and letting them adjust, Rin looked around, preparing for what she would see...

    Oh god...

Tiny monsters... There were so many... There had to be at least a hundred... Though they were small, each of them seemed to be holding a large, club-like weapon of sorts. It didn't look extremely deadly, but it would for sure hurt if you happened to be poked with it. Eyes widening in surprise, the pink haired girl took a ginger step backwards, looking to each of her teammates as she did. Were these the things that had been terrorizing the village nearby?

There was no time to worry about that now! Something had to be done, and quick! They could worry about what happened to the village later, but for now they needed to make sure that they, and the village that was left over, were kept safe! Think, Rin... Think! What would the best option be in this situation? Lifting her hand upwards, the familiar word left her peach colored lips. "Requip!" A bright flash of light appeared above her, and moments later, her dainty bubblegum pistol landed in her grasp. This was probably the best thing to use in this moment! "Stay back for a second, okay?!" She addressed her fellow squadmates, trying to make sure that they didn't get caught up in the sticky mess that was about to appear. Holding down the trigger, Rin sent sticky gum bullets flying towards the ground where the goblin-like creatures stood. As each of them hit the ground, they exploded into a sticky pool, encapsulating the creatures within it. A few of them remained free, which might have been a bit problematic, but what else could she do?! The chamber needed to reload itself before she could send out any more bullets. "They're not going to stay like that for long! We need to take as many of them out as we can right now!" Her words were a bit harsh and frantic, but now wasn't the time to be gentle and sweet. These things needed to be dealt with... And fast...

To the circles? Oh right, he had become almost enchanted by the elderly couple, the woman although not similar in appearance or personality he could hardly help himself but associate her with the Grandmother whom he had left at home. Brows drawn together as if a ribbon had tied them closed a slight sigh was pushed back before it racked his body, focus was needed for this and mis mind had been flowing off course lately, as if he were a climbing flower that had ignored the trellis and decided to clamber up the waterfall sometimes his mind ached with that which he had taken on in life. Theo's response to the moment was a little odd for sure, almost rude indeed did he intend it or perhaps did his teammate not realize that the words could be taken in a rude way. Mouth quirked as he glanced at male who held an empty universe in his hair. "Really now Theo, you shouldn't call them ancient. They've been through a lot." Wait a race, without any rules specified. A roll of his eyes as Lester paced himself beside Theo, Rin falling behind slightly until he grew bored of it. Running was okay, yet he found no joy in it. About 15 meters away from the closest circle Lester cracked his knuckles, a grin spread across his face. They burst forth, the ground caving way to grint lily petals which in a moment swirled up from the ground to encase the youth. Of similar colour an oversized lily bud sprouted next to the circle, with one hand he pushed softly on the soft flower as it unfurled, letting him step out from the simplistic teleportation. A knee to the ground he scooped a notebook out from his pocket, a pen started sketching the circle in quick strokes, yet the coloration of it was a turquoise, almost burnt into the ground as if it were scorched yet no fire left a blue green markings. Hesitation at first, before his fingers dragged across the colour. he had a moment, where the gritty substance brushed across his fingertips with a smooth feeling. It had just been a circle, yet they should have expected it, a light shone firth glaring into his eyes, shutting the watermelon hues out as Val uncurled and covered his eyes. Protecting her food bringer from that which could blind him.

They worked well together, it was a smooth process as Rin brought a sweet little pistol out, holding them back. Soft memories of Theo came to mind, the morning with muffins and waffles, his tendency to fall asleep at random times and inability to speak in the mornings. Wearing those tight fitted swimming suits and that fine-- anyway. "Stay Close~" It took only a moment, the ability taking form before he finished speaking. Wrist turned as his bracelet began to glow, one of the three charms shimmered a light of the golden dawn as a treasure chest rose up from below, a familiar shield formed. The shining gems and jewels within would surely keep them safe whilst they thinned the herd. "I'm going to summon but I won't be able to move. Theo you and Rin can hold them off right?" He hardly waited for a response. His power was not what he wished it was, nor was it that of others when it came to summoning, whilst he had three to choose from only two could be present, and even then he could hardly move at the time. "Flos, lanci. Let thy bodies grace the land. ignotum per ignotius" Gaze flickered to the left and right, as a giraffe and tiger like being appeared, partially created from plants lester offered a sweet to each.

Mouth moved as if speaking, yet the movements were slight as his gaze landed on the tiger. Whom activated his active, leaping into the fray of the battle, swiping claws at a goblin like creature and battling with the creature. 'Flos' the name spoke in his mind as he communicated with that which he had brought forth. The spell targeted multiple enemies, as the tiny flower petals swirled around their feet, snatching away health and strength as Lester let his mind rest a moment. They did not need constant attention. yet perhaps there was something he could do for Rin. there didn't appear to be one specific enemy which was too hard to deal with, would it be better to lessen the strength of all the enemies or increase Rin's power? It hadn't been too long since he had gained the new magic, neither of his squadmates knew exactly how he had gotten it as the white haired male had danced around the question  A small flower grew in his left hand, with triangular petals it started to spin, the petals breaking away into spears and targeting enemy in the area. Whilst the other hand a sugary flower formed from a small ball as if it were sculpted. he flung it forward towards Rin where she absorbed it, the flowers sporadically appearing across her body momentarily as they creeped upwards, forming a floral crown of orange and gold flowers. He needed a moment to clear his mind after that. "Run your magical damage has increased, and they- the enemies they'll take more magical damage than normal" His voice was a little strained, feet locked into the ground it was an odd feeling. This was the first instance in which he had summoned two of them at once.

Theo didn't hear Lester's gentle chide about the old people. He could barely hear anything over the pulsating in the arteries closest in proximity to his ear canals. Getting closer to the circles had proved reckless indeed. Rin was right to scold him (she usually was), and though her reasoning was sound, he should have been more careful for an entirely different reason. Sure, monsters were coming from them, but that didn't seem to be the fact forefront in his mind.

The young man's body was growing steadily more and more distressed. What had seemed like common symptoms of racing away from the town to the affected area didn't let up once his feet came to a stop. His face was flushed, his chest heaving despite his efforts to conceal it. Even as Rin gummed up some goblins with her sweet gun and Lester set to summoning, Theo stood eerily still in a slightly hunched position. Sweat gathered in a thin sheet over his entire body. He was uncomfortable enough to tug at his trusty scarf and even his T-shirt collar, as if doing so would relieve him of the heat he felt. Before he could even think it through, the jello mage was untying his scarf and shoving it into his pants pocket. Then he did what normal Theo would consider unthinkable for many internal reasons. Reaching over his head, he tugged his T-shirt off, rendering him shirtless.

The flesh of his torso was a tapestry of telling scars, seeming far too intense to belong to the marshmallow that was Theo. It was as jarring as opening a favorite book with a spine well worn by your own hand, only to find the contents of the pages were suddenly all unfamiliar. One in particular stood out among the rest, like the twist filled last page of a story. Just left of center on his chest was a nasty, deep scar and healed burns. It had a twin on his back. Both of them were currently irritated in appearance.

Theo obviously didn't feel right and wasn't acting right, and his suspicions nearly had him bolting the opposite direction to take him anywhere but here. But...Lester and Rin needed him. Couldn't he just hold it together long enough to clear the area? In a flash one was upon him, grasping the shiny friendship bracelet at his wrist in an attempt to steal it. There wasn't a version of Theo that that wouldn't piss off. At point blank range, Theo lifted his free hand to give the creature a healthy blast of jello, but the once gelatinous substance was nothing more than colored water. Seconds later, no jello would come at all. "You've got to be kidding me..." Theo hissed through gritted teeth, followed by a rare curse.

It was a bad idea on a good day, let alone at this current worst moment, but Theo had little choice. Reaching for the sword on his back, the wrappings unraveled and yielded it to his hand. In one swift slash, the goblin was relieved of his arms and his bracelet was free. His arctic hues locked onto his next preys, those trapped in the sticky bullets. The motions were like second nature, holding a grace that Theo wasn't known for. He had to protect the immobile Lester and Rin who may or may not remember how to fight. He remembered. Whether he felt like crap and was possibly tipping over an edge he'd been dancing around or not, no secrets were worth more than the safety of his squad. Each goblin that was immobilized was blood fuel for his hungry blade. "I got this," he told both of them in a serious voice, though it possibly held multiple meanings. But...were any of the implications true? When his eyes weren't on the enemies he sliced down, they were flickering to Rin and Lester, watching their faced with thinly veiled terror.

So much was happening all at once... It was overwhelming... If she didn't know any better, the young girl would have turned and run, not looking back. But there was no way she could abandon her squad, or the defenseless people of the nearby town. No... It was time to push back the fear and be brave. She had never faced so many enemies at once, but there had to be a way to handle it. Just as she was about to speak, Rin noticed that Theo was now shirtless. Strange scars were littered across his skin, almost telling a story of the past. It was completely unexpected... Out of place, foreign. She had a hard time not stopping to stare, and an even harder time at keeping herself from running to him as he unsheathed the weapon that was previously against his back. The weapon had a way of changing him, making him harsher and almost... Well... Animalistic. She had seen it once before... The memory was still fresh in her mind. It was hard to tell what he would do in this state... But for now, it was best not to try to interfere... Plus, Lester needed to be protected for now, especially since he couldn't move.

"Theo! Please be careful! I'm going to protect Lester. Try to make sure that none of them make their way into the town. Those people are most likely defenseless." She called out as she aimed her weapon at some more goblins, preparing to shoot. Pulling the trigger, she sent out more bullets, sending some of the tiny beasts flying, bumping into some of the others that stood behind. The strange flower crown that Lester had bestowed upon her seemed to make her attacks much more powerful. Each monster seemed to go down with only one bullet. But was this really the best method of taking them down? The bullets took a while to reload themselves, and each bullet could only take down one goblin at a time... Maybe a different weapon would be better? Throwing her pistol up into the air, the familiar word left her lips once more, causing another bright light to appear. Moments later, a candy cane saber fell down in the pistol's place. This would be much more useful for taking out more at one time! It might also give her an excuse to get closer to Theo, and possibly get the chance to ask him what was going on.

Taking the golden charm off of her bracelet, she thought about the goofball and the sweet memories they had made together. The time at the inn, the danger they had faced together at that abandoned castle... It filled her with a warmth. Smiling slightly, she threw the gem towards the ground, near the shiny shield Lester had made. Perhaps if there were two shiny things to distract the goblins, it would be easier to keep Lester protected. "Hold tight! I'm going to take some more of them out and check on Theo! If you need me just call me. I'll come back as soon as I can!" After nodding to the white haired male to confirm he had heard her, she took off, past the shields, and towards the other male in the squad, who was slashing away at the poor beasts. He seemed to be extremely skilled with that weapon... Almost too skilled. Slicing her saber through two of the goblins that attempted to attack him, she grunted, disgusted by the blood that gushed from the wounds she had made. It was always a shame to have to kill things... It left a bad taste in the normally passive girl's mouth. But if it was to protect her friends, then it was necessary.

Reaching out towards the almost bloodthirsty male, her eyes softened. It was almost like he was a completely different person. "Theo! Hey! Listen to me! What's going on?!" She called out, trying to get his attention. Though, in a way, it seemed like that might be impossible.

Theo was busy hacking and slashing through the hordes of goblins with frightening proficiency. Those that didn't immediately die were afflicted with nasty bleeding which would claim them later. Blood slicked his blade entirely, and even his feverish body was speckled and smeared with it. Some of it was goblin blood, but some of it was also his own. An unfortunate side effect of the blade, it seemed. Occasionally he found himself grinning, his already racing pulse throbbing with thrill. So much blood. It was beautiful. He wanted more. More..

But at the same time, the blood thirst hadn't completely taken him. As the monsters continued to materialize from the summoning circle, it seemed they would never end. He was tired. He was fighting the thing in him and the monsters coming at him, while progressively feeling less and less well. His footwork was getting sloppy here and there, his breaths coming in ragged huffs. Perhaps it was the strain on his body that kept the sword from doing its worst, which also allowed him to hear Rin's voice near him. Slowly he turned his luminous glacier eyes on her, flinching away from her touch involuntarily.

"I-It's a...perfect storm..." he muttered through clenched teeth, knowing it was futile to hide his fear now. Tears cleared a path through the blood and grime on his face. A goblin caught him in a moment of distraction and clubbed him in the middle. Dropping to a knee, his fists white-knuckled around his sword and he looked away. He knew what was coming, and he already felt the unbearable pangs of regret that he hadn't just told Rin and Lester sooner. How could he have thought he could keep it suppressed forever? But how could he have known a mixture of memories, a summoning circle, and his sword could make it unstoppable? It was his worst fears realized, and the uncertainty of what would happen now between him and his friends made it all the more worse.

When he looked back up, the whites of his eyes were a gleaming onyx, and the normally stunning blue eyes were now a fearsome gold. His lips parted into a snarl, revealing elongated fangs. Fingernails sharpened into claws and spontaneously grew, tearing his cuticles and piercing into his palms.

You couldn't suppress it forever. Plus, you totally walked into this. You know. The summoning circles and all.

"Shut up and go away..." groaned the transforming man, though its intended audience was unclear.

That's not how contracts work. Actually, this was your idea, if I remember right. It's been a while...

"Drathir. Stop...please..." Oh. Drathir. Lovely fellow.

Let me think about it-- nah. Kekeke~ That cute little mind-book is open now, jello man.

"I made a mistake..." Theo groaned, internal anguish oozing out. He'd wanted a chance to change his fate. Right some wrongs. He didn't know it would go quite this way. "I've made a lot of mistakes. So many... why can't I atone? Will you ever go away?" he deliriously rambled, wincing at the pain in his head as he physically fought back the horns.

    No.

A force outside his control forced him back to his feet, raising the sword threateningly.

Oooh~ I like this sword. Is it one of mine?

Theo didn't answer, his body quaking as it was urged on against his will. A few more goblins fell, then his body angled toward Rin.

She looks like her blood would be just lovely.

    "NO! Not her."

Aw, but why? That flesh is so supple. You should offer her mercy before she has a chance to make enough mistakes to meet me on her own~ Do you have those feels again, Theo?

Theo's skin was crawling. It looked as if any moment now he'd be sick. "NOT AGAIN, DRATHIR!"

Alright, I'll take that into consideration....Oh. What about sexy back there? He has a nice butt.

"Not him either," Theo growled, eyes flickering from Rin (whom he was non-verbally telling to move away from him) to Lester. He gave Lester a similar visible warning, should the other male be paying attention.

"I'll slit my throat right here if you try that again."

Feel free to try. If you can~

"Can't we just stick to these goblins for now?"

His words made no sense... "A perfect storm?" What did he mean by that? Rose tinted eyes widened as tears began to stream down the sword wielder's face. He was... Crying? It made no sense... He was slashing down the goblins with no remorse just seconds ago. Why all of a sudden was he crying? Questions wouldn't stop swirling through her head. It was almost making her feel dizzy... It became worse when she noticed that Theo had suddenly been hit to the ground. "H-Hey!" She called out, taking a few steps forward, only to be pushed back seconds later by the goblins that had attacked her fallen teammate. She had to get to him! The thin layer of crimson blood gleamed as she brought her weapon upwards, preparing to slice through the beasts that were in her path. Their cries were deaf to her as she took them down. Her body almost seemed to have a mind of it's own as it moved gracefully and lethally. Nothing was going to stand in her way and live to tell the tale.

Once she had made her way through, she smiled, approaching her friend who was now crumpled down on the floor. "Stay calm, okay? We're gonna get you... Outta... Here..." Her voice trailed off as she stopped dead in her tracks. The ice-like hues she had grown fond of were now a striking gold, and the normally white scleroses were a frightening black. This wasn't the man she was used to... But if it wasn't him, then who was it? Taking a few steps backwards, her legs shook slightly in fear. Why was it that she couldn't just run away? Was it because she was in shock? Possibly because of some sort of fake courage? No... It was love... Theo was in there somewhere. There was no way she could just leave without him.

Suddenly there was another voice. A gruff, evil sounding voice. It didn't sound like it was coming from anywhere in specific, though. It was more like it was in her head. It seemed like Theo could hear it too, judging by his responses. Drathir? Was that it's name? She cringed as he continued to speak. Why was he so loud? And why could she even hear it in the first place?! The demonic sounding creature made it sound like the conversation was only to be between it and Theo. So why was she in on it? It made her head hurt.

Just as she had begun to speak against the creature that seemed to reside within the jello mage, he stood up abruptly. "N-Nng!" A small cry left the girl's lips as she stepped backwards, tripping on one of the many carcasses that were strewn across the ground. Pinkish brown hues locked with gold as he looked over, a bloodthirsty look spread across his normally cheerful face. They spoke of her, yet she was frozen, ensnared by her own feelings. Was he planning on killing her? If so, she would have to fight, right? Her hand gripped the hilt of her weapon firmly, as if it would leave her if she didn't. Though, there was no way she could use it. Not against Theo. It was one of her only weaknesses, and there was no doubt in her mind that the beast, Drathir, would use it to his advantage.

The stern, fearsome looking eyes that had once been glaring at her now seemed to portray a different message, before moving sideways to look at Lester. Was he trying to tell her to leave? It seemed that way... The memory of the haunted castle they had been to engulfed her thoughts, reminding her of the situation that seemed all too familiar. He wanted her to flee, and leave him to fight alone. She hadn't done it then, and she wasn't about to do it now. Her eyes flickered towards Lester for a moment, making sure that he was safe before she stood up slowly, trying not to alert the demonized Theo. Now was probably her best chance at disabling him. Throwing her blade to the ground, she ran at him, arms outstretched in preparation to engulf him in an embrace. As her arms wrapped around him, a sharp pain shot through her arm, indicating that she must have sliced it against his raised sword. That didn't seem to phase her, though. Not in the slightest. "Theo! I know you're in there! Don't let this monster take over you! Think of your friends! Think of us! We love you, and care about you! That's more powerful than any demon or whatever this thing is!" She yelled, tears gushing from her eyes. "And you, Drathir, whoever or whatever you are. If you're going to kill someone, kill me! Leave Lester alone!"

Whilst Theo had been acting a little oddly at first it had been of no concern, after all the male was known for being sporadic and often a little unpredictable, as his ‘range of predictable activities’ was so large that often there was no telling how he would act. Unless treasure was involved of course then the raven mod of hair would whip around and zone in on the jewels and delightful items. He himself had been focusing on summoning, the energy required not just physically but mentally was still quite a lot as he hadn’t quite gotten familiar with the ways of summoning. From the faint corner of his line of sight a small rock like being began to take shape, Theo had curled over as if he were in incredible pain yet failed to make a sound. Whilst his spells and directions to the creatures worked perfectly it wasn’t until what he had assumed to be a rock changing to a soft peach color had his attention been drawn towards it. They could fight on their own, the creatures he cast so carefully,  working together with fluid motions to keep the goblin horde at bay the summons appeared happy to act without his direct orders. His eyes grazed across the shirtless male, he had expected a meadow of fresh grass to sate his hunger yet what he was given was far different. This had once been a meadow, full of refreshing flowers and smooth rolling hills of soft grass and muscle, yet now it was as if someone had fought here, great paths of scarring scoured the surface, rippling areas of skin which hardly fit with the soft face and personality of the Theo which he had once broken bread with. They were not artistic in the slightest, models on the pages of magazines often had scars, yet those were beautiful and showing stories of dedication peace and heroism. The ones which littered the skin of his friend seemed to only speak tales of doom and horror. The expression playing across his face was similar to the stories of the scars. Anguish at what he saw.

Whilst Rin cast down her own charm too Lester felt a slight smile soften his face. It was harder to unsummon, Floss only wanted to stay and help protect him, yet communicating to the giraffe like being that the presence of two summons only hindered his progress was a little harder than expected. Eyes darting up they latched onto Rin, he had been unsure of what was happening for long enough. Theo had gone into some sort of rage, it was unexpected, the actions earlier in the day hadn't indicated that he was under any kind of pressure. Suddenly he appeared to have snapped, as if a berserk force had take them over, Rin wanted to go and aid their fellow squad mate, yet it would make sense for him to stay here and cull the herd as much as he could.  "Go, I’ll try and make a gap in the attack so it should be easier. I can support you two from here.” His face tense from the scene which had played out once more a worried gaze was sent towards Theo. She had to hurry.

A few fingers sent direct messages to the tiger lily, motions to request the creature to come closer, he had hardly a chance to make a rational decision. From where she clung to his hip the male urged his muscles to bunch up before flinging his pet onto the back of his summon. The two making contact as their fur grew together, the vines and flowers intertwining to form one creature almost. With knowledge of the summon and his pet helping to cut through it Lester's hand rested on the giraffe like plant creature beside him. Hand motioned to an area of the goblins indicating that he hoped to focus on that specific area. They then moved together, his hands cupping a slight glittering glow, as a small pile of flowers began to form from swirling streams of sugar. As if a wind had lifted them up they flew into Rin’s back, exploding on impact her feet would move with greater speed. Whilst he had to deal with the goblins, that took most of his concentration there was a way that he could occasionally send a supporting spell across to Rin and Theo. The bow in his hands pulling back, releasing arrows into the eyes of the onslaught. His arrows were numbered, Rin seemed to have reached Theo, yet their interaction still seemed odd, Theo’s actions were that of a man holding himself back. Needles sweets and darts of sugar taking form in front of him, as if a buffet of spells was being cast he flung them towards the Goblins. It would tire him, draining much of his magical power yet the crowd controlling effects were taking form. They were immobilized, speed slowed too each one decreasing their strength whilst increasing the damage they took it was a whirlpool of color. The petals floating to the ground as both Val and the tiger lily summon slashed apart the hunks of meat. A bout of tiredness swept over him as he released the giraffe from the plain, letting her step back into the laboratory like dimension from which he had brought her from. He just needed a moment's breath. The few goblins who weren’t limbless or dead had started to move, with the immobilisation slowly fading off he had at least five or six minutes before they could move again, and even then their speed would be slowed for much longer. The tiger appeared at his side, helping the youth to stand up from his unsteady perch and bring a lollipop out from his pocket, letting the sugar revitalize him, focusing in on it he had to relax. Let it calm him. Theo was a devil, or some sort of demonic creature which transformed, he couldn’t look into it as he would a specimen as this was his friend. The tiger too was unsummoned, leaving val to clamber onto his shoulder.

He had started running, yet it was hardly fast enough as Rin decided to hug the creature who had taken Theo’s place. Teeth brought his lip into his mouth slightly as a giant flower bloom suddenly encased him. Within a moment sprouting up next to his two teammates Lester burst out and placed a hand across Rin’s back, letting her be coated in a swirling golden nectar like honey. Although not sticky it gathered at where she had sustained injuries, those from the goblins, and those from Theo. He could heal her, it would take a few moments yet she didn’t seem too badly damaged in the physical sense. The side effect of the healing spell formed on Rin’s back it was Reciprical defendat, a small bud taking root as the shield formed across Rin granting her magical power and defence. A wary look crossing across his face Lesters mind processed the changes that his Butt Brother had gone through. Horns seemed to stab out from his forehead, the hands he once knew to snatch up an orange and a muffin now appeared more menacing with their scythe like protrusions. What he could do was limited, Salvis sanguisughe formed toffee in his hand, attacking small threads of it to Theo as a method of reducing his mp, hopefully that would help the demon inside to fall into a more sedated state. Rin was protected and he himself had protective equipment too. They could both take a few hits if Theo lashed out. Leaning forward slightly Lester signed, relaxing his shoulders the youth slid his arms around the other male in a protective way, carefully avoiding the blade which Rin had cut herself on. There was a time to stress out and be emotional. He could, he had to control himself. There was a way to push it all down.  "Theo we’re here for you, don’t worry, whatever happened we forgive you and we’re waiting for you, but you need to take control again. Come back to us.” His throat balled up, a bud of emotion farming which he snipped away, killing the thought of crying before his mind was influenced with the seductive memories of better days. "Drathir right, you and Theo obviously have some history, you seem to be bored in there. I know about boredom, the days where not a single thing seems amusing, you’ve tried everything and not even the brain can entertain itself for long. Just calm down, relax, we can sort something out.” He could get his Theo back, with Rin calling Theo back to them he could work to settle the negative energy which emanates from within Theo.

Though at the present it might have looked like it was two against one, it was very much three against one. As Rin and Lester tangled him tightly in their arms and called him back, he fought just as much on the other side to make it all the way back. With the goblin carnage the three of them had wrought, he found that the lack of immanent threat made it just a little bit easier to fight Drathir. "I'm trying," he growled at the two people closest to him in life.

I don't see why you don't just embrace me. Look at how many goblins we took out for your little magic council puppet masters. If you'd just honor your own contract and let me stretch my legs, we could have taken them all by ourselves. Killjoy.

The muscles under his squad mates' arms were taut, flexing and poised to strike just as much as hold himself in place, like a dangerous zoo animal fighting every instinct to attack the friendly hand that feeds. Occasionally he'd twitch in restrained efforts to break free, attempt to claw, or shift the sword as if to use it, though he didn't allow any of those things. He ignored Drathir's chatter, trying to remain focused on regaining the control his friends pleaded for. He wanted to regain himself. He wanted to go back to normal life with them. Take Rin on many, many dates to learn about her as she learned about herself. Eat more scrumptious breakfasts with Lester, he always brought the best waffles and muffins. He wanted to go on more jobs with them, more sleep overs, more cuddle piles. Theo wanted to do more good to replace the bad.

Wait. Wow. How is it your little girlfriend can hear me?

"I...don't know," Theo ground between his teeth, groaning at the horns growing from his skull. Was his fighting back not having any effect? Was he losing despite giving all he had? His back ached from the pressure of wings attempting to break free. How could Rin hear the booming voice in his head? The voice that was low and gravelly dripped with sarcasm and taunting, belonging to the very thing he hated most about himself? He didn't want to subject her to this!

Interesting. Well, she wants me to kill her. You heard that right? He's begging for it... to protect the other guy. So hot~ I can't resist. Lester wants it, too! They're both here, willing to die at your hand. Is this was humans call romance, because I could dig it.

After a throaty scream of both anguish and rage, Theo managed to form words again. "Don't do anythig to them, please! Please. Don't. Not again. I can't do that again," Theo pleaded desperately, struggling now for a different reason. If he could get loose, he could run. He could save them if he just ran away until Drathir settled down.

What did you expect? Like your friend said, I've been so freaking bored. There's no talking it out! Locking me up so tight was a cruel thing to do, Theo. And being a demon, I know a few things about crue-- Hey. Hey! What is he doing!? Stop, you sugar coated sapli--

As Lester's MP draining spell took hold, both Drathir and Theo were losing strength fast. Theo used this opportunity to push back with all his own magical power, before it was all but gone. He shoved at Drathir's weakening takeover magic, aware that this would make it deplete even more quickly, but he didn't care. Very slowly, his demonic traits started to recede. The horns grew shorter and his claws pulled back into their nail beds, leaving bloody wounds as consolation prizes. His fangs were the next to haltingly return to normal human teeth, ripping his bottom lip as he bit down in effort. Lastly, his eyes flickered back and forth between hues as he mentally battled his inner demon for the last shred of control. Chest heaving for air, on his last blink those familiar frosty irises had returned thankfully surrounded by white once more.

One last thing, just in case, his tight grip on the sword released and it fell with a dull thud on a goblin body beside them. Between the after effects of the weapon and the magic syphon, Theo's body wobbled and staggered within Lester and Rin's grips before going limp. He slid from their grasps down to his knees, where he remained with slumped shoulders and a hanging head.

His mind whirled as guilt wracked his very core. The goblins deserved to be defeated, but sliced up, stabbed, and left bleeding to death? Everywhere he looked, his mind warped the summoned creatures into human bodies. Why had he taken up a sword again to begin with? This...this is the result. Side effects of Bloodlust Fang or not, this is why he laid his swords down. So much blood and death. He'd brought so much...

And now these two people he loved knew what lurked within him. They'd witnessed Drathir's effect on him. Rin had even heard the demon's voice. Oh, what would happen now? What could he do? What did they think? This wasn't even the worst of it. Just seeing it was one thing. Plenty of legal mages had some pretty dark and scary magics, though most of them had control of it. But...what he'd done. Who he used to be. That was his true fear. If they were frightened and disgusted with him now, how could they ever accept him when he told them the rest? They said it'd be okay, but he didn't trust their reassurances. Not because they ever lied to him, but because he couldn't fathom how it couldn't go wrong from here and result in the loss of two very important people.

He fought back tears the best he could, but he was feeling pretty low right now. "Lester..." he whispered through a tight throat, expecting the worst but still experiencing the full brunt of panic in his presumed rejection. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry....I-I'm sorry..." He didn't know what else to say to the watermelon eyed boy, his fellow butt brother. Had he just destroyed their friendship and stained all their good memories?

He lifted his head to glance from Lester to Rin, terrified of what he'd see. Had be become worthless to her now? A bent, eroded coin void of all detail and splendor, tossed to the side due to its unclear values, made of nothing but common iron that rusts and chips away? Was this too much for their new special bond to withstand? He'd feared this would happen the day he gave into impulse and kissed her, but his optimism had carried him on. Would the sight of him make her sick and repulse her? How quickly could love shatter? Was it sick that he longed to be held in this moment, even though he knew he didn't deserve it? "I...I wanted to tell you..." he mumbled, voice quivering. "I tried...but I couldn't... I didn't want to admit Drathir was still there. I thought if I kept it shut up tightly and never gave it a thought, that I could forget about it and it'd never happen again. I was wrong...You don't even know the rest. D-Do you hate me now, Rin? Do both of you hate me?"

Her first instinct was panic when she noticed that Theo had become weaker and slumped to the ground. Shame washed over her as she noticed that she had also been filled with some sort of relief. It seemed that Lester had used some sort of spell on him, so he would be okay... It was just the fact that that hideous creature was in there still... That was what bothered her. But this was Theo she was thinking about. There was no way that she was going to give up what they had because of this. There had to be a way to control it, and she was going to do everything she could to help him find that way.

His words pierced her heart like a knife. Bending down to reach his eye level, she placed a hand on his cheek, pulling his face upwards. Her rose tinted hues stared into his icy blue ones, equal amounts of worry and love brimming within them. How could she hate him? Even if she wanted to, so couldn't. They had been through so much together. Good things, and even bad things. He had accepted her for who she was and who she had been, so why would it be any different for him? "I could never hate you, Theo. Never. You accepted me for my past. We promised each other that we would stay by each other's sides no matter what happened. And I don't plan on breaking that promise." Tears streamed down her cheeks as she spoke to him, emotion squeezing at her chest. "I know that I don't know very much about... W-well... Anything. But I've learned that friendship and... L-love... Mean much more than something like this. It's stronger than anything Drathir could say or do. So don't think for even a second that i'm leaving." A small smile spread across her delicate face as she reached forward, pulling the jello mage into a tight embrace. "And Lester is your fellow butt brother, he won't go anywhere either!" She joked lightly, trying to bring the mood back up, even if it was just a little bit.

The Sugar Squad had been through quite a few trials, but this one had to have been the most surprising. They had just come to investigate some magic circles, and then this happened... Something Theo had kept so well hidden had finally come to the surface. Sure, it was a bit scary, but Rin wasn't the type to run away from problems like this! No way! There had to be something the squad could do to help! Moving away to look him in the face once more, a determined look spread across her face as she wiped tears from her cheeks. "We're going to help in any way we can, right Lester? We have to do something! You're good at researching things. There has to be something." Looking up to the white haired member of her squad, the pink haired girl's eyes filled with curiosity. She was going to help her Theo, no matter what!

Theo was trying, they knew that, he knew that and Lester was sure that Rin understood as well. Yet that scream that erupted from Theo's mouth was harsh, something he hadn't expected to come from his cupcake loving partner. Emotion, distress and worry flickered across his face as such a familiar voice pleaded from his butt brother. It was all he could do for now, if Theo couldn't overcome the demon himself then would they have to sedate the both of them? Although that wouldn't solve the problem it would only delay the inevitable waking of this Drathir that Rin had mentioned. It calmed him a little, he could feel it, the skin was softening, after a moments glance he noted that those purple protrusions he could only think of as horns were growing smaller with every passing moment. Just a moment longer and he was back to Theo, yet it wasn't his Theo. The male before him didn't fight but merely slumped to the ground as if he were a heavy bag of grain, it was a little heartbreaking to see a person he considered to be a brother so defeated and broken. Yet there was mo point in wallowing, self pity and doubt not only in himself but the two individuals by his side would bring him no joy in life. He had tried to protect them yet the outcome was just the same.

It felt as if some thorn ridden plant had grown from within his heart, ripping it apart then squeezing the hunks of muscle into some type of minced meat. Everyone had something to hide, yet Theo, no, he couldn't blame his partner, he couldn't blame the man with hair the color of burnt toast. No, no it was okay. With Theo, he felt so raw, the emotion just shone through. It was unfamiliar, the uncertainty that he held with this version of Theo was strong. It was hard, as the whisper of his name came forth Lesters mouth tightened slightly into the smallest of smiles, sadness reached into his eyes as the apologies started to flow forth. Yet how could he help. Eyes dropping to the ground a small lump formed in his throat. He could hardly speak, what woulds would help soften the moment, he simple muttered, small words of 'its okay' with sounds of soft hushing similar to that which his grandmother had made after his first preteen heartbreak.

With a slight glance at the peach haired mage beside him Lesters mind changed direction, perhaps she would know how to calm their minds. Something inspirational or dream worthy, the sort of quote that one would write on a nice bit of card to display. She came through, his eyes had begun to water long ago yet now as she spoke with warmth and emotion he could feel the support and love almost as if the very air she breathed conveyed support and love. "Theo, we've all done things we regret. big or small thats not what matters. What matters is where we go from here, Rin's right, I'm not going anywhere, she isn't either." With a smooth moment he moved to embrace Theo after Rin, his textured hands from hours of plant care flicking away any tears which had trekked down his brothers face. They could help? Yes, yes he had to try at least he owed that. "Yea, yes. There has to be something, and if I can't do anything then we'll find someone who can, do not wallow in negative thoughts Theo. Brother we need you." A slight chuckle escaped him, a smile, the curve in his own lips disrupting the tears which had marked trails down his face. "For if you leave us who will I share waffles and breakfast muffins with?"

Theo could scarcely believe what he was hearing. Both of his friends were crying with him, remaining at his side with balming words. They weren’t running or turning their backs on him. He was definitely in the wrong here, not giving his squad mates enough credit as people and friends to do what good people that love you do. The struggling man found that perhaps he was more jaded than he thought. They hugged him, rough hands smoothed away the moisture on his cheeks and signalled that it was time for him to man-up and stop the water words. As he blubbered out his words of thanks, it wasn’t as if all his worries were absolved with their acceptance and pledges to help him. His war was just beginning. “I’ve got so much to explain...but I’m so tired...” he muttered, reaching up to rub his eyes and face, though his hands were just as dirty and only smeared it around. “At least we got all the goblins. The magic council should be happy...assuming I didn’t mess it up.”

Embracing both Rin and Lester, he tried his best to bottle up the negative stuff he was dealing with. There was a little more to it than just the contract with Drathir, but they were all too emotional and spent to even start that. Though every fiber of his being screamed for him to run, leave them behind for their own safety, he knew now was not the time. That would be spitting in their faces, and despite how helpful alienating his friends would be to his instinct to protect them by leaving, Theo couldn’t bring himself to do such a thing. There had to be another way. He was allowed to be hopeful and cling to that, right? Rin was stubborn enough to not let this go until it was solved, and Lester was brilliant enough that he really might find away to get him out of this situation, or at the least maybe sedate Drathir. It was a nice thought.

As Theo shakily rose to his feet, his friends were there to be his support in more ways than one. While it may be a shameless mask, Theo calmed his expression into one of a more familiar smile, albeit an exhausted one. It was the least he could do to put them at ease after putting them through so much grief. “Thank you, guys. I don’t know what I’d do withou—“ Mmmgroowwwwl~

His cheeks flushed red, even beneath the blood and grime. His stomach seemed to be louder than his speech, letting everyone with ears know that it was very empty and pretty grumpy about it. It was just like the last time he used that sword, when he and Rin had been looking for that flower at the haunted castle and nearly died. “Heh...I guess I’m hungry...” he commented weakly. “Can we get a pizza and go home?”
