    208 words.

Jack and the beanstalk was a wonderful little fairy tail. Neru thought of the priorly examples story when she heard about beanstalk village. Considering she had been just a normal bunny not too far in the past, she was not farmilier with a good deal of the world. Entirely unsure of what to expect she had chosen to come here in order to have some fun exploration. While it was unlikely this place had any golden eggs like in the fairy tale, it was still worth seeing exactly what she could find. Sadly almost nothing interesting even existed within the tipi filled village. Neru only took interest in the beanstalk centered in the village. ‘Could those gods be something at the top of that thing?’ She wondered, realizing she would need some help exploring the stalk, as such an exploration was unsuited to prey such as herself.

Finding aid in exploring that massive plant proved harder then she expected! No one in the village wished to disrespect their gods by traversing the stalk. “Oh beanstalk will I ever learn your secrets.” The bunny girl sighed, leaning her body against said object the way a dancer would lean into a pole as if trying to seduce the stalks secrets out.

The youthful blonde let out another grunt as he continued to climb the massive beanstalk. He had come to the Beanstalk Village in hopes of finding someone worthwhile who could train him to become stronger. Unfortunately, almost everyone in the village was old, decaying, and decrepit. None of them could even lift a lightweight sword if they tried, and many simply refused to. Their days of fighting were over, and they had no wish to train the energetic youth, or engage in any form of battle. It was a big disappointment to the young Knight, but he would still find something to take back from the old retirement village. The beanstalk was certainly a novelty, and Rain wondered just what would be up there among the clouds. Did the beanstalk become akin to a large tree at the top, with many branches and leaves, or was there something hidden up at the peak, such as treasure or fruit?

There was only one way to find out, so the energetic boy would begin his climb of the beanstalk. He almost slipped on numerous occasions, but managed to keep himself from falling. By now, he was a good twenty feet in the air, and gaining momentum slowly but surely. He would not allow himself to fall or fail, which would not only be embarrassing, but possibly painful.

Finally she had finished her pole dancing monologue with the beanstalk. This was the moment she actually looked skyward once more. Purple optics flew wide upon the realization someone was climbing this piece of foliage already. Neru now knew no enchantment or anything to prevent climbing existed on the object meaning she too could scale it. ‘If some human chick can climb this a rabbit like myself certainly can.’ plus there remained the tiny fact of her sucubus wings, if she got tired of climbing the massive stalk she could soar to the top. ‘No birds fly around this.’ Which was the reason she had not flown to the top, fear of an enchantment that canceled flight if one went too high. At the very least this thing could be climbed so it was time for her to start.

Rabbit skills came in handy as she jumped the distance her unwilling companion had already climbed. “Hello good ma-“ oh shut that was a boy, that definitely had no boobs. Abort mission! That certainly wasn’t something she could tap. “Sir.” She hadn’t grabbed the stalk out of shock so she leaped up again swiftly after. “May I have a moment of your time to talk about” her words got cut off as she descended again, forgetting to grab once more “our lord and savior.” If she was going to sound like a poorly written religious jack in the box “The beanstalk god.” she may as well go all the way. At least she had come up with something to avoid hitting on a dude. This time she remembered to grab.

Rain had continued climbing another couple feet when a strange lavender-haired woman suddenly sprang up and appeared right next to him, only to fall down to the ground again due to not catching onto the beanstalk. Wait a minute… did she just assume he was a madame? The blonde clenched his teeth and annoyance, and kept his focus on climbing. If she wanted to jump again, it would need to be higher than before.

And then she did. She asked if she could have a moment of his time to talk about… and there she went again. Rain glared down with mildly irritated blue eyes at the girl. He noticed her subtle bunny theme, as well as her overly strong legs for hopping. He could admire the power, but the lagomorph appearance internally ticked him off. His cousin, Sasha, had gone through a period of bunny love. The phase was annoying and embarrassing to recall, and it appeared that this person was no different from his cousin in her interests. Regardless, he knew he best be polite, especially if this girl was a villager. He did not want to be barred from the Beanstalk Village for insulting or being rude to one of their own.

Her conclusion to her cut off line, however, struck the blonde as curious. Their lord and savior, the beanstalk god? Wait a minute… did the people of this village actually worship the giant beanstalk growing in the middle of their community? Was he disgracing their idol by trying to climb it? Rain certainly hoped not. The climbing made for good exercise, and the mystery of what could be at the top was perfect motivation. The woman finally clung to the beanstalk in order to climb, which gave the blonde a moment to look directly at her to ask his question. “Wait, do you guys actually worship this beanstalk? It’s not forbidden to climb, is it?” he queried, attempting to word his question as politely as possible, to not risk angering a devoted worshiper.

Any plans she had of spending some quality skinship time with a pretty vixen tonight were entirely slashed due to some pretty boy trap. 'It should be illegal for dudes to look like chicks.' She had just wasted time she could have been spending on leaving to search for another mark on speaking to someone who wasn't even the right gender. Neru only had her enjoyment of adventure left for the day. Most normal humans would simply change direction and go about their business. Neru was still only born a rabbit even if she had been turned into a girl than into a succubus. Bunnies were only capable of certain kinds of thinking. No one had ever bothered teaching her other ways of thinking. The rabbit girl looked human assuming someone wasn't some part human just was not something people commonly did anymore. She only had the body.

She broke out laughing as he spoke unable to help herself at all. 'Does he think I'm from the village and actually worship this thing?' Any sane human would assume such but once more Neru was only a rabbit possessing a brain much simpler than humans. "They do worship it." she had seen people praying at this stalk most of the day but no one had much factual information to offer. "That whole spill is the party line I've heard all day trying to research this stalk." After all she was part of the guild well known for researching things. "No one told me not to climb it, but there are generations of intense fear breed into the people towards whatever is at the top of this stalk." she had not gotten to ask that question a single time without receiving a terrified look in response. "Whatever is up there, the villagers fear it the same way a newly emerged kit on its own away from the colony knows to fear a fox having never encountered one before." meaning it was something that after just one encounter had scared the initial viewers so much they stirred that fear until simply the stalk itself was enough to terrify villagers.

It had been so difficult getting the villagers to speak about the stalk. Neru had barely anything to prove her research expedition if she didn't come back with something from the top. "Only one story has survived about this stalk." she nodded her head from side to side as she climbed beside him. "I can tell you the story they told me while we climb if you wish." it would be good to not have to think too hard about speaking to some random man.

Naturally, the young blonde was not attempting to look like a woman. He still had boyish features despite his age, however, which could give off the illusion of looking feminine. Along with that, he simply had longer hair than most, but wore it proudly. At the rabbit girl’s hearty laugh at his question, Rain blinked in confusion and chose to continue climbing while she responded.
Her answers were satisfactory to the knight. So, the village did worship this, but fortunately they were not trespassing by choosing to climb it from how it sounded. Her explanation filled him with much more excitement for whatever could be at the top. Her analogy on fearing it was strange to the youthful knight, but understandable nevertheless.

“Do tell me,” Rain responded with a polite smile. “And what is your name, might I ask?”
He knew that it was likely better to introduce himself first, but the young man’s mind was focused more on climbing than on formal pleasantries. That, and he was not so keen on giving up his name to just anyone so quickly if he did not have to. She could still be a beanstalk worshiper for all he knew, and would give his name to the high priests and village leaders to bar him from the place for disrespecting their idol.

He was such a rude pretty boy since he hadn't even bothered to introduce himself to her before inquiring about her own name. 'I should make him work for it.' She was very irritated with this behavior. Even if Neru despised men she was used to being treated with at least some degree of what could be called respect since she was not an unattractive woman. Normally men only turned on her when they realized she was only interested in whatever pretty girl happened to be around and was far better at getting the chicks attention then they were. "Neru." she decided in the end that she would not stoop to the lowly level of men by withholding her name, but she would also not put any effort into her introduction.

The climbing continued and with that introduction out the way she figured it was time for her to tell the unknown male the story she had heard about the stalk. "Once upon a time." it was a shame the only story about this thing was in fairy tale form. "The world was locked in war with beasts of gold from the sky that used enchanted bean stalks to crawl down to the earth from the clouds." She was alright with telling a fairy tale, as she knew some of them weren't as tall as they seemed. "In this time there was a little boy who admired a group of old knights who lived in the village." they had been called adventures or mages in the original telling towards her, but from the look of this man he would enjoy the term knight more and it made more sense with this being a popular retirement spot for knights. "They were all very old but their skill had not faded in the same way their bodies had." wasn't that often the case, wisdom and trades or skills with age instead of strength. "while many people had difficulty seeing this, the little boy knew it very well and would seek them out every day in hopes of learning something new from them." something very typical for human children she supposed but she really wouldn't know being a rabbit and all. "Overtime he grew up, fell in love with a girl from the village and his feelings were returned, the two were very happy" Very typical it would have been sickening if the story hadn't eventually changed. "Until one day the beasts of gold attacked the village pillaging it and stealing her away." such a shame they had to paint the girl as some damsel in distress, it was sickening. "The boy was quick to pursue the beasts, but in return for his years of faith he was not alone for the knights he learned form took up arm again to aid him." at that point it seemed like it would be a typical fairy tale where the good guys won. "Only they never came back after they went up, not a single one returned, the beanstalk dripped with blood for weeks and at the end the attacks around the world from the beasts of gold had ceased." It ended more dark then what was typically acceptable for children, yet this was told across the village. "the tale they claim is proof at least one beast of gold still exists atop the stalk, powerful enough to slay the knights who slayed the rest of its kind." at this point they had gotten pretty darn high, the rabbit suspecting they were getting very close to the top.

Rain nodded and smiled at the bunny girl as she introduced herself. “It’s nice to meet you, Neru. My name’s Rain,” the blonde introduced with a friendly smile before she continued on with her story. He was attempting to be as polite as possible, despite being so preoccupied with maintaining his grip and not falling to his death. They were a good distance into the air by now, after all. The base of the beanstalk likely was more than a hundred feet below, if not more, and they kept gaining momentum by the second. A good story would help pass the time.

The story started out like any other, of course, with a merry little tagline of ‘once upon a time’. The young knight knew of such stories, remembering them semi-fondly from his childhood. Normally those first four words brought about a fable of strength and victory, or romance and tragedy. Regardless, the boy had almost forgotten such stories, and found it refreshing to hear it again. The story started out quite well, with the introduction of beasts in the sky, and their flora bridges to the ground. The next introduction most certainly intrigued the young man, who felt his curiosity prick at the mention of ‘knights’. The boy in the story was likely the hero or protagonist, from what Rain perceived. He learned well, taught by wise and skilled elders, met a girl and settled down… and now came the action.

It was all Rain could do to not lean in to listen to more as he tried to climb. Another couple hundred feet, and they were nearing the closest cloud. The girl, weak from how she sounded, was taken away, and was to be rescued. That was were the boy and the old knights went wrong. The knight’s expression darkened as he focused more on his climbing, hearing the end of the story. Though the boy and the old knights certainly did a number on the beasts, he saw their flaw almost instantly-- they had desired to help the weak. That was a grave mistake.

“The boy and the knights were fools,” observed Rain, as they continued to climb. “I don’t care if she’s a girl or not. Anyone should obtain the strength to help themselves. If they don’t, are they really worth saving?”
Anyone who could not save themselves would only get hurt later, and end up dying then. That, or they would simply drag more people in to die along with them. Weakness was deceptive. It could trick people into playing the hero, and more often would end up killing them. Rain personally did not believe that gender mattered in this equation. He knew many strong women- even though there was that one he could do without in his life- and many of them were strong and talented warriors. To him, it sounded like the boy and the knights got exactly what they deserved, for caving to weakness.

Neru mentioned that the beast was rumored to still be alive, high up in the clouds. Well, they would have to see for themselves. A fairy tale was hardly proof for anything. Once they reached the top, they might find absolutely nothing, and learn that the story had only been created for the sake of keeping blasphemers like Rain and Neru from climbing their glorious beanstalk god. Humans truly were odd and interesting when it came to the fiction they would create to justify their crazy beliefs. By now, the duo had just about reached the top. The stalk of the beanstalk was growing thinner, and the cloud was only a couple feet away...
