- Dungeon Encounter:
Location: Desierto
Description:
Everyone knows about the seemingly endless deserts of Desierto. But not many dare to brave them. Good thing you are just about insane enough to find yourself here. And who would have thought it, you can find some pretty weird stuff this far into a place where no one ever goes. There is a long old-school train hovering above the ground and zooming through the sands at a very high speed. On top of it, several human-shaped clouds of pure energy wearing regular human clothes and holding pistols and rifles. Behind the train, a similar creature riding a mechanical horse and trying to catch up. It would appear that those on the train are bandits while the one on the horse is a sheriff. You better go and help him stop that machine before those... whatever they are run away!
Enemies:
(D rank) Alpha Gunner - A fairly big energy person who glows pink with a six-shooter. 50 HP, slow and deals D-ranked melee damage with each shot.
(C rank) Beta Slinger - Tall and slender energy person who glows blue with a mechanical slingshot. 100 HP, standard speed and deals C-ranked melee damage with each shot.
(B rank) Gamma Gunner - Average build energy person who glows purple with a rifle. 150 HP, agile and deals 1.5x B-ranked melee damage with each shot. He does, however, have to reload every time he shoots.
Objective: Defeat the energy bandits and stop the train!

Out in the middle of the desert, one would think no one would be out here. You'd be right. Except for the cactus' a few oasis that were literally miles apart; and the occasional bird of prey flying overhead. There was nothing. Nothing but literally the scorching sun, and nearly cloudless sky. Oh, and sand. Miles, and miles of sand in every direction as far as the eye could see. A literal ocean of it. It moved and danced with the wind; as off in the distance one could see one of the Great Pyramids of Desierto. Although how far away it was, no one really could tell. Especially not one mage wandering out here alone.
The mage known around Fiore as Haru was actually taking some time away from the guild. Putting his passport to good use and traveling. Looking like he belonged in the country, after stopping in Desert Village in his own home country; he wore a turban with his hair coming out a little; and literal desert shawls. His cloak blew in the wind; as he looked off in the distance. The Pyramid wouldn't be more than a day now. If he used one of his spells he might actually make it there faster.
The heat was so soothing, as Haru literally felt at home here. Being in a cave and romping around the wilderness with a fire breathing dragon for a year or two will do that to ya. He would have gotten himself a camel to ride; however his motion sickness prevented him from doing so, so he literally just walked, and walked across the desert. He had plenty to eat and drink in his backpack though; and with his inhuman stamina as a mage of a certain type, he could walk for days it felt like. He was really pushing his limits out here, discovering what he was and wasn't capable of enduring. Eventually however, the ground around him began to shake as the sand literally had a shaking effect as it began to move around as if something big was coming. With his superhuman hearing he was able to hear....a train? Out here? But there were no tracks. His nose then wiggled, as he began to smell magic in the air in the direction of the noise. Before he could figure it out; a train literally blasted by him at hundreds of miles an hour. Sending him flying back from it's pass and covering him in sand. He poked his head up out of the sand as a scorpion went crawling by in front of him.
Watching it go by with loud "hoooooots" into the air, he noticed it was literally a flying train. It smelled like Mura's magic back at the guild. Was it some kind of spirit train? It was then that he noticed literal spirits made of some kind of whirling energy that looked like sand around the train, hooting and firing off their guns as they rode and spun all around it. "Freaky....." he said to himself, barely audible over the sound of the train roaring by. He would hold his turban so it didn't fly off as the train went by...when he saw something even more weird. A spirit like sheriff cowboy, riding a mechanical horse. "OK....what the fuck!" he said outloud as he witnessed this. It was literally behind the train as if it were chasing it.
"GET BACK HERE YOU BANDITS!!!!! I'LL BLAST YOU ALL BEFORE I LOCK YOU UP!" he said as he rode after the train. Haru then decided that he'd figure out what was going on at a closer distance. Out of nowhere, flames would explode around Haru's feet as he was shot forward at rocket speed. Using this to fuel a run, he would take off as sand whirled behind him. Running at crazy speeds next to the spirit cowboy, he would call out to him. "Want some help sheriff?!" as he did this, image of his spiritual face would turn to him and look him over while they ran. "A mage out in the middle of nowhere?! Well damn! Help me light em up then! They're usin' their magic power to get away with the Spirit Train!" as he said this, Haru would nod to him and then look up ahead. "So if we stop em, the train'll stop?" he said to mostly himself as the cowboy would nod.
With a single leap forward, the sound of the train grew louder as Haru would land on top of it. Turban and cloak blowing in the intense gale from their speeds. Without warning, two of them; one with a slingshot and one with a rifle would literally fly and hover on the top of the train where Haru was standing. Hooting and howling, they would start shooting at him as Haru did a couple of quick hops on top of the train, surprising them as their spiritual forms looked shocked for a moment. Realizing he wasn't normal, they would really open up firing him as the Space Cowboy would take off on the side of the train on his horse, riding up to the front to take on the last one.
Haru would then have flames whirl up his leg while he hopped around, and with a single crazy leap he would do a sideways flip mid-air and clock the hell out of one of the spirits with a flaming kick as he used the "Talon" spell on him. The spirit would just go flying off to the left, as flames built up around him and exploded in an explosion of fire so bright it caused shadows even on the train. The other spirit began fumbling around to reload as Haru was already running at him, without running to long; Haru was launched by another spell as he shot forward at bullet speed himself using the "Sworn Horn" technique, as he became something like a flaming missile.
Headbutting the guy and blasting him with a flaming explosion that sent him skidding up to nearly the front of the train. The rest of the fire would wash all around the train itself as the wind carried it off; even though it was a ton of fire briefly. The space cowboy was in a gun battle with one carrying a literal revolver as Haru ran up to help him. But before he could get there, the other spirit would trip him up with his rifle as he ran by him on the train. Rolling harshly, he gripped the side of the train as he almost fell off. The spirit was quick, and whirled above him cocking it's rifle once. Not having any other option; Haru's fist engulfed in flames that went up his entire arm as he literally punched the train itself with the "Iron Fist" spell as flames erupted through the train itself, in one end and out the other; causing the train to rock mid-air as it flew over the sand, and the shot fired at him to miss.
Grabbing onto the spirit, with one hand engulfed in flame allowing him to touch spirits with dragonfire; he would literally chuck the thing off the train and into the dust. When he pulled himself back up, he heard a bullet fire from behind him. In slow-mo he would duck, as the bullet literally flew over his head and hit the other spirit chasing the train square on, as it disappeared into nothing but magic with a screech. The train was slowing down now, as only one spirits magic was keeping it going.
Cornered, the last one began to spray like crazy with his revolver. As the space cowboy actually shot back at him 6 times, parrying his bullets with his own bullets in a crazy display of gunmanship. Haru looked stunned, but it wore off quickly as the last spirit was pistol whipped by the space cowboy and then once more sending him stumbling towards Haru; deciding to end this, he engulfed his whole arm in flames and with a single spin to get closer, delivered a leaping uppercut. Flames exploded at the front of the train, as it literally slowed to a stop. With a mighty flaming shoryuken, the final spirit would whirl into the skies, incinerating into nothing but magic in the air which dissipated as the train halted with a mighty steam like noise. Throwing Haru's balance forward for a moment.
"WE DUN IT!" the space cowboy celebrated as he shot his twin pistols in the air in celebration. He would then take off his hat, and tilt it to Haru. "Much obliged son, this train is one of this countries oldest spirits. It takes ghosts like me here and there." and as he said this, Haru would see all types of ghosts returning to the train, as if they were boarding it again. Eventually, one ghost that looked like a conductor came to the train and boarded in the cockpit. "You dun did good kid....hottest flames in the west I reckon." with that, the cowboy would tilt his hat to Haru. "If you're ever lost in the desert out here in Desierto, just whistle as loud as ya can. The Spirit Train'll find ya. You're a friend of it now." as he was saying this, the train would hoot twice in response with mighty whistles as if it were agreeing.
"How bout a ride to that pyramid." Haru said, pointing in the distance and readjusting himself to his original purpose. To see the sights of this great nation, where Shuhei the White Wizard was from. With that, the train would veer toward the pyramid in the distance mid-air as Haru and the Sheriff would ride on top of the train. Sitting on it's front with their legs dangling off as Haru tried on the Sheriff's cowboy hat for fun while they took off toward it.

Suddenly, Haru would begin to get extremely dizzy as he would realize. He was now riding the train. During combat; he hadn't been paying attention. But now. Oh no. It was happening. Struggling to hold onto the train himself, he would begin to slide off as he just layed on his back helplessly as the train moved. The Sheriff would look over as the spirit actually turned red with surprise as he saw Haru slipping off the edge of the train they were riding on.
"DAMMIT BOY! WAS WRONG WIT YA?!" he yelled as the spirit Sheriff would pick up Haru who was now literally holding onto him like Scooby Do holds onto Shaggy. "GET OFFA ME!" but no matter how he swung Haru around, even comically beating him against the top of of the moving train he wouldn't let go. "IT'S JUST A TRAIN!" as he said this, Haru would shake his head left to right rapidly and just wrap his legs around the Sheriff's neck, screaming at the top of his lungs as his voice echoed across the desert at pitch volumes. "MY GOD!!!" the Sheriff gave up as the Spirit Train actually reached the pyramid in the distance, halting sideways with an awesome power slide that kicked up sand as it slid to a halt in front of it.
With a single toss, the Sheriff would toss Haru into the sand below the train and smile at him. "ASIDE FROM YOUR FEAR OF TRAINS....you're alright lad." he said at his normal volume. Taking a badge out of his pocket, he would flick it in the air towards Haru. When he caught it, he would inspect it. It was from Desierto, but it was super old. "I use ta hold onto that back when I was still alive, it belonged too, my old partner...one of the best men I ever knew." he smiled down at Haru again and would tilt his hat at him with one hand and a few fingers. "Protect this desert nation if something big ever threatens it....do I got ya word on that?" as he said this, Haru would stare at the badge and then clench it in his hand. Looking up at the spirit of the old Sheriff. "You've got it. But if I start helping this place out, I'm gonna need a raise." he said with a small joke as the spirit cowboy actually began to laugh. Haru would adjust his turban and desert cloak, before waving at the train as he noticed it pulling off. With his new badge in his pocket; he would set off toward one of the Great Pyramid's of Desierto. Wondering if he'd be able to get inside, and if he could. What treasures did such a place hold? As he walked up too it, he noticed it was tall. SUPER TALL. He hadn't been paying attention to it before. But now, he definitely was. There was still about a football field of sand between he and it. As he approached it, he would feel the ground shaking again as he looked around for the spirit train. But it was nowhere to be seen this time.
However, pretty soon. The ground would explode with sand in front of the pyramid. Poking it's head out from underneath the ground. With a head the size of a literal stadium. As sand fell off of it in huge streams as it rose; just it's neck and head. A dragon. "Well, well, well. I thought it was Igneel flying around out here from your smell." as he said this, he realized this was the legendary Dragon of Gaia. The Elder Earth Dragon. Leaflogia. Haru was literally taken a so far aback by this that he actually stumbled back and sat down. Looking up at the thing, he smiled at it with his usual prideful smile. Showing no fear at all. For such a big creature, the thing was surprised such a little human would not go running in fear. But as he continued to smell Igneel on him, he noticed that the scent was not just of someone who'd been near his Fire Dragon brother. But it was exactly the same. "I see! You're the one he chose to teach his magic too!" with that, the Elder Earth Dragon would begin talking with Haru about the land here and what it was like living out in the middle of nowhere. "SO MANY rocks to eat, plus it's like I'm swimming in peanut butter...to me...with all this sand. KAAHAHAHAHA!" his roar of a laugh was somewhat scary but Haru was used to dragon laughter as he actually let out a chuckle; looking around at the sand and imagining it as a sea of peanut butter. Enjoying his conversation with the Elder Earth Dragon, Haru would ask him if he had taught anyone magic himself. Shaking his head no, Haru nodded. He hadn't ran into any users of the dragon's magic yet. "Hey....tell me about the Pyramids in this nation...there's 3 of em spread out all across the desert right?"
With that, the Dragon would nod back at Haru and begin to tell the tales of the Sultans and Pharoahs of old to the young fire mage.
