Job Title:
Protect the Forest!
Rank:
A
Player Requirements:
Minimum 2 B rank mages or 1 A rank mage.
Job Requirements:
Minimum words per post is 400, with a complete minimum postcount of 30.
Job Location:
Tetsukazu
Job Description:
Being home to a number of animals Tetsukazu has a poacher problem. Or rather an animal smuggling problem. Many of these magical creatures are being placed on the black market and sold to poor masters for terrible causes. Animal rights activists have scrounged up enough money to try and hire some mages to put an end to the illegal activities once and for all. Not to mention all rescued animals will be released back to their home, adopted by loving families, and naturally the animals saviors get their choice of the litter. (Provided that it's not an illegal/highly dangerous animal)
Enemies:
Weak:
Shizenmesu x 4
A small herd of lively, deer-like creatures who act as footmen protectors of the forests of Tetsukazu! They are extremely fast, moving a bit faster than A rank speeds, and can use Nature Magic, controlling and conjuring vines, leaves, and more to use as weapons. They are able to heal each other and themselves. They take 4 A rank hits (320 HP) to take down, each. The best thing to do is try to escape or restrain them, and eventually prove that you are there to help.
Normal:
Poachers/Smugglers x 5
These are the most skilled animal hunters and trappers in the land! Their work is cruel and dirty, and they are notorious for having killed many innocent creatures. They often use magic of varying elements, and it is up to you how they fight. They deal A rank damage, and take 5 A rank hits to take down altogether (400 HP).
Strong:
Shizenookami x 10
This pack of wolves is also angry of the capture of their kin, and is ready to take down any alien that dares come near! They deal A rank damage with their incredibly strong bites and wicked claws, as well as incredible speed! Each one takes 3 A rank hits to take down (240 HP). Another hit will kill them. In actuality, they are being controlled by the poachers- sparing is the best option.
Boss Poachers/Smugglers x 5
These people have leaders, you know! If you roll a strong and wish to take on people, rather than animals, these criminals can be fought. But beware! They deal S rank damage in a single hit, and take 8 A rank hits to take down per enemy (560 HP)!
Boss:
Pied Piper
The leader of all of the smuggling! The pied piper is skilled in all manners of hunting and is an expert marksman/trapper. She wields a deadly crossbrow but her true strength lies in her piper magic. This magic allows her to control nearby animals in the vicinity. The hits needed to take down the animals can vary, but it takes 20 A rank hits (1600 HP) to take down Pied Piper, who deals S rank damage herself, and is lightning-fast.
Reward:
30k Jewels. A noncombat pet for each participant who chooses!
So Akeya wasn't one to bond. It was her draconic nature. However she still recognized value, and she saw value in ensuring that nature didn't get wrecked beyond recognition. Even dragons were not above the laws of nature, and if nature died the dragons wouldn't survive either. Nothing would, really. An example of this was how plants were known to produce the gas that animals used to function. The stuff that's in the air that animals actually breathe, while most of the remaining contents of the air are secondary. Without plants that kind of gas wouldn't exist, so much animals would just die. So nature was important.
Granted this particular job wasn't necessarily the same as preventing nature's destruction, considering it's small scale. However not every act had to be all encompassing. She got paid for this, she was fond of missions where her enemies were outlaws because that meant she could hone her skills without people judging her for it, and if the balance of this ecosystem was disrupted it could cause trouble in the future. And aside from that it was also good for her public image: Akeya was aware that her public image wasn't the best because of her draconic nature and her not very social personality, but as a Rising Star (a title she mostly had so people wouldn't treat her like a criminal) she had to make sure people saw her as a good guy, someone who helped Fiore and opposed all the illegal stuff.
The fact that Akeya personally didn't really care for legal and illegal was secondary. She was a pragmatist, and even if she herself had little interest other people did, and other people could get you killed if you didn't appease them.
Which was why Akeya was now on the mission of finding smugglers who were trying to smuggle magical creatures out of one of those worlds accessible through the strange Wakusei Portals. Akeya wasn't very familiar with the world, but from what she was told nearly the entire world had a temperate to tropic climate, which meant it was one of the greenest places you would ever see in your entire life.
However she was first going to search for an ally. She might be able to pull this off on her own if she was careful, but an ally would make things a lot easier. It'd also help with the public image thing if there was someone who accompanied her as together they took down the smugglers, and if she could find a powerful mage to help out forming an acceptable relationship with them would be beneficial in the future. Akeya was a pragmatist and not very social but she didn't actually mind interaction too much as long as it wasn't outright annoying, and her pragmatic side was aware that even asocial mercenaries like her could benefit a lot from allies and friendly acquaintances. The forming of a bond was unlikely, but a professional understanding shouldn't be impossible.
Right now Akeya was exploring the shadows in a large area as she carefully sensed all the magic she could find. She specialized in stealth, infiltration, intelligence and counter-intelligence, a set of specialities which had demanded that she refined and trained her magic detection and identification skills. It came somewhat at the cost of direct combat power, but she thought the payoff was worth it. There were a lot of mages who could inflict a lot of damage or change the battlefield. She wasn't unique in her speciality, but special ops mages still tended to have it easy when it came to earning money.
She wanted someone who was likely to agree to the mission without requiring further persuasion. Which meant a nature mage. Unfortunately nature mages weren't exactly rare but still tended to not be as common as, say, a fire mage or a take-over mage. It took some searching before Akeya found someone whose magic seemed to fit the bill. Better yet it was a magic she had encountered before. It was not exactly your average nature magic: it seemed to be a lot more complex, containing a lot more than just life force and plants. It was appealing in a way, that complexity. There was something at the core of that magic which also drew Akeya's attention, the dragoness of shadow and darkness stepping out of one of the shadows nearby the one holding that unusual magic and reforming her physical form.
Akeya scanned the area for Leila Vergious's exact location, so she could approach the woman and offer her the opportunity to aid nature as those with magic related to nature often were very eager to do.
