This is a motto that Serene lives by. When someone is down and out, cast aside by society, Serene will be that one person to stop and help however she can. Early in Serene's life, she was stricken with a grave illness that threatened to take her life. Her family lived poor, so a doctor was out of the question. When all hope seemed to be lost for the little girl...one lone woman stepped forward to help the child. Serene never forgot that woman's self-sacrifice and she is sure that she never will. When she was in the woman's care, the woman told Serene something that still clings to her today.
Serene tries to be kind to others as often as she possibly can, however there are times when kindness is not to be tolerated. Growing up on the streets, Serene understands that. But, though she is kind, she is still distant to others around her because of certain events during her life that made her sink into a shell to save her sanity. Because of this, Serene can seem sad to people that do not know her. However, if you can break through her shell, you'll find a girl bursting with emotions. Emotions that were held back for so long...
When Serene is angry, or even aggravated in any kind of way, she becomes...hard to work with. That's the simplest way to say it. She defies any and all, and will do whatever it takes to prove her point, if she has to. The only time she does not act out in this way is if she is attending the orders of something that she clearly knows is more powerful then her, or if she holds the person in high regard in her eye.
When operating on the battlefield, Serene is the classic "defender" role. She tends to stand in the front-lines and do what she can to help her teammates. She likes to use her magic to overwhelm and baffle her opponents, making stealth and surprise attacks a well used portion in her magical arsenal.
Under the leadership of others, Serene is the picture of unwavering loyalty...unless she thinks she's doing something wrong, or she thinks that there is a better way to do it. Serene likes to be precise and efficient with her tactics, unless the use of sloppy moves is absolutely required. Which, in her book, it shouldn't be.
If there is a odd chance that Serene is the leader of a group, she will have her subordinates stay as close to her as they possibly could. This way, if something happened to go wrong, she could step in and fix it as quickly as possible. That being said, Serene will put her life on the line to protect her charges. To her, the life of another means much more then her's.

Sunlight. Serene enjoys laying by a window and soaking up the sun, or laying in the grass and doing the same. She loves the feeling of that soft heat on her skin...
Books. When Serene was introverted (as if she isn't anymore...) as a child, she would surround herself with books. Though her family lived a modest life, her father somehow was able to get her a new novel every week. When she reads a book, she feels as if her father is standing right next to her.
Strategists: Serene loves it when someone pulls off the sheer impossible without sheer luck or force of will...but with a cunning strategy.
Dislikes:
Dirt. Believe it or not, Serene can be a neat freak at times. She associates dirt with poverty. Something she wants nothing to do with...
Pity parties. Serene cannot stand people that feign for attention. It's not attractive in the slightest.
Killers. Serene clings to the thought that one can solve a problem without resorting to killing. It ties in with her whole "kill 'em with kindness" attitude.

Losing her magic. Serene thinks of her magic as the one thing that makes her special. Without it...she's nothing. At least in her eyes.
Dying. Serene feels that she has much to do in life, that, and dying sounds painful to her. If she dies now, whats the point in trying so hard to live?
