Vincent looked off into the horizon overlooking the clear blue ocean; the sky was lit by the morning sun and there wasn't a cloud to be seen. A salty breeze carried with it a smell of fish from the nearby stalls that sat right on the docks loaded with the freshest fish possible to be sold to the nearby restaurants of Hargeon Town. The wizard was quite fond of the water for reasons unbeknownst to him and yet, despite having an intense curiosity about the way the world around him worked, he was oddly fine not knowing. You can't question taste he thought, sitting down on the wooden pier, taking off his shoes, and rolling up his pants so that he could freely dip his legs into the ocean. He and Elvira were due to depart for Iceberg by the end of the week. She was ready, though he decided to take care of a few "errands" before the two set off on their quest to find the lost Saint. One such "errand" that he had in mind was a cursory investigation of the island nation of Enca, a nation with a rumored craggy mass of land that has yet to be discovered. While he wasn't much of an artist, he had a fiery motivation for exploration and so he decided to take up this job as soon as he had the opportunity.
A rumored craggy mass must surely have rare or possibly even unique materials that could further my understanding of water magic.... Perhaps a special kind of rock that I can use to channel the magic even better, or maybe a particular kind of sea creature that is imbued with water magic in such a way so as to defy current knowledge and practically invite study. How exciting! he thought, happily alternating his legs forward and backwards in the water. Feeling as though Elvira would not be too happy about this detour that isn't quite relevant to their current plight, as well as feeling like he needed to begin to expand his network of mages to further his own goals, he enlisted a well known Crystal Swan wizard: Rin Mayou. Elvira had mentioned her a couple of times due to the fact that the two lived together while she presumably searched for more permanent accommodations.
What did she say about Rin again... was it that she was romantically involved? I can't remember.... Vincent tried in vain to recall any spoken information about Rin that he had heard from Elvira. If he could remember right, he saw a glimpse of her before his expedition and subsequent controversy involving the Heads of Religion. Thankfully the identities of both him and Elvira were hidden, but the fact remained. "Don't worry Captain Donnager, she should be here shortly" he said, waving to get the attention of the captain which would be ferrying them to and from the island nation. The captain nodded solemnly - he wasn't much for conversation, but his reputation for being reliable preceded him. The Ace of Ruby - I wonder what qualities she possesses for her to hold such an esteemed position within the guild. Perhaps she holds such a status by virtue of might, someone who could defend the guild in a time of crisis. Perhaps, though, she possesses some other attribute - one that could be a bit more engaging to identify and observe... I wonder...
