Job Location: Midi, The Depths of Shizukaze (Commonly known as Shizu-umi)
Job Description:
The oceans south of Midi are brewing something nasty in their depths. Something lurks below and it hasn't gone unnoticed. A great catastrophe is in the making and the process has caught the eye of one of Midi's prominent fortune tellers. Many of her fellow folk don't believe her, as there isn't any sign of tsunami or storm in the waves, as many fishers have told her. But she can't shake off the feeling that something's going to happen, something BIG.
So she's sent a request to many wizards across the nations, most especially to Fiore. And you so happen to be one of the people who came across it. You come to learn that the woman's name is Shino, and in the job request, she tells you that a monster is growing stronger in the Shizukaze Sea and its conjuring up a storm that might just drown Midi. And it's up to you to strike it down before it does so.
She's offering to lend you a vessel if you don't have one. But it's no battleship, just a regular galleon. No one seems brave or doubtless enough to go on the voyage with you, so it'll just be you and your job partners. Sail towards the center of Shizukaze and find whatever's trying to sink the nation.- Enemies:
- Your ship is hurdled by several jagged rocks. When you try to move around them, the same rock formations pop out in front of you, barring your way towards the center. Upon closer inspection, the rocks seem alive. These guys are the Samebito, sharks who resemble rocks who thrive in the coastal waters of Shizukaze. They're normally harmless so long as you stay out of their territory, but today, something seems off, because as you draw near, the Samebito attack your crew aggressively. They attack in groups of five and can deal serious B-rank damage if their jaws take a bite at you. They may try to headbutt you and push you out of your ship, they may try to trap you in their jaws and drag you underwater to drown. They rely heavily on their jaws so best to avoid that. They all go down in two hits of A-rank damage. Be careful though, the more you attack them, the more aggressive do they get! Hit them once, and they'll charge towards you at faster speeds and will deal 2x B-rank damage in one attack.
Weak: Samebito x15
*If you have the item The Serpent's Eye from the job Festivities, they'll be too afraid to attack you and your crew and you can go on your merry way.A species of demonic crow that usually flock to places where high concentrations of fear gathers. They don't usually come this far from their home in the faraway peaks of the Midian borders, but they seemed to have sensed the danger and have come to feed off your crew's lingering fears. They're quite small at first, being only a meter in height, but the more fear they consume, the stronger and taller they become, and they have just the attack to induce fear into you. Their bird cries are often called The Song of Despair, and it promptly makes anyone within a 5 meter radius feel bubbling fear in their guts, you'll remain in that fearful state for five posts unless you step out of the range. These guys often go physical and will try to swat you with their wings or deliver critical hits with their beaks, they can also fly and use some weaker form of wind magic by flapping their wings rapidly. All their attacks will deal A-rank damage. Knock them out with six hits worth of A-rank damage, but you're better of hitting them from a distance to avoid their cries.
Normal: Yatagarasu x10
*If you have The Serpent's Eye with you, then you and two allies will be immune to The Song and will be able to fight them at close range.Considered a myth to the people of Midi, the Raikasha are beings forged from the essence of thunder and lightning. Though they are originally meant to serve the storm-god Susanoo, some say that the others have fallen to the bidding of a demonic entity who prays on fishers in the seas of Shizukaze. The reason why is still unknown to them, but they speculate that Susanoo has neglected the Raikasha's true purpose, which was to gather corpses of sinners, and they have favored to seek out the remnants of the demon's prey instead. Now reduced to scavengers, they also seem to find pleasure in forcibly making corpses out of fishers. You and your crew are no exception. You've managed to acquire their wrath not only because of their duty, but because you've trespassed into the territory of their master, at the wrong place and at the wrong time.
Strong: Raikasha x5
These guys mean serious business, they don't want to play around and they'll attack you directly. They use lightning magic and can create roars of thunder than could potentially rapture your eardrums if your hit directly. All their attacks deal A-rank damage. They rely on their levitation abilities to govern the skies and their lightning to make their attacks quicker and instantaneous, a normal mage without any speed-enhancing abilities will have trouble fending them off. Let's see who's the corpse now once you hit them with twelve hits of A-rank damage.
*If your unique item from the job Festivities is The Serpent's Eye, all their movements would seem sluggish to you, and you and three allies can take them down faster in at least eight A-ranks instead of twelve. Neat.In the center of Shizukaze is a gaping whirlpool that descends into the deepest part of the sea. You don't dare go near it because it might pull the ship into a watery grave. The water is dark inside the whirlpool, and an electrifying force is just leaking out of the center in huge amounts. You and your crew interpret this as the danger than the fortune teller Shino warned you about. Just as you were about to back your ship to avoid danger, the sea becomes violent and thrashes against your ship. The whirlpool forms a figure of a woman, missing one eye, and is practically spewing out malice when she sees you. She senses you plan to defile her plans of drowning Midi and she's personally come to stop you.
Boss: Raija: The Sea Serpent of Storms
You suspect that this form of Raija isn't her final form, but merely an avatar. But that's another problem for another job. She can generate great waves that could sink your ship and she can summon one or two Raikashas to her bidding. She can heal herself 25 HP every 5 posts. All her attacks deal S-rank damage and are all water-based, so fire-types aren't effective against her. She floats over the water and will often dash towards your ship to personally deal with it. Sink her back into the depths of the sea using 10 hits of S-rank damage. Roll an attack die at the end to see if you can scoop out the other Serpent's Eye. If it lands, you get it, if it doesn't, she disappears before you do so.
*The Serpent's Eye originally belongs to her and it was once a source of part of her powers. The reason why it's been so much help to you against the other monsters is because Shizukaze is her domain and by having a part of her, it has also become your domain, thus greatly increasing your abilities. And if she senses it on you, she'll become very aggressive because she wants it BACK. If this item is in your possession, not only can you attack her while on water, all your attacks will actually deal much more damage than what it can previously do. Against her, all your and three allies' attacks will deal five times more damage. So hit her hard.
*Do note that this is the only one of the two jobs where The Serpent's Eye will deal this much to the mobs. In other jobs, its original effects will take charge.
Reward: 40,000 Jewels along with a bonus of +10K if you manage to take out Raija's other eye and hand it over to Shino, this'll serve as proof that she was saying the truth, and you and your crew will be very much regarded as heroes next time you visit Midi.
