Yona is supposed to be sorry for putting Kyran through a mess by dragging him into the guild, physically. But is she really?
    Basic Job Info:
    Job Link
    Guy Stratus:

Yona had never met Guy Stratus herself, but from the rumors he was foretold to be equal parts humorless jerk and determined scientist. She had met people like him before and had rarely gotten along with them. Pushy men who assumed they were better than everyone else: tie that in with a focused drive to get what they think they deserve, and these guys could be real pains in the rear. Still, the reward was more serious and the job seemed straight forward enough to make dealing with a man like Guy Stratus worth the while. Yona had found the request on the job board and reviewed its point: the scientist had spent two years searching for some mythological lost artifact called the Prismatic Aegis of Gen'atoh, a name Yona was surely going to forget or mispronounce. Just find the artifact and make sure the stern client didn't get hurt in an old tomb.

It seemed also that there was significant amount of traps or dangers in the tomb and Yona didn't know if she could handle so much on her own. Of course, she was strong enough, but if multiple traps were triggered at the same time and Guy died--the whole thing would be a huge mess and would affect the reputation of the WFTC guild. Yona would hear it from Ruvel for sure. So, it made sense that she would go after one of the new members who did not know yet just how reckless she could be. It made even more sense that she specifically ask Kyran to join her, since she felt pity for him. Yona had gotten in trouble for grabbing him and dragging him around and making him lose his mind a little. But she thought getting him out and about might be an effective way to boost his weak little mind and maybe even reduce her lab restriction sentence from Ruvel.

Yona chose to dress carefully for the job this time since it was going to be with a guild mate and all. She had comfortable pearly ankle boots and matching short shorts. Yona had wraps over her chest, an off white shade that stood out against the snow-hued coat she wore. Yona loved that coat, wearing it nearly everywhere- it was at calf-length, with pockets, shiny buttons and straps, and flared shoulders making her look quite regal. Considering the weather was fairly warm, she left it open as she sat on the steps of the guild, waiting for Kyran to appear.

Kyran straightened his new jacket, checking out his reflection in the mirror. The outfit wasn't exactly his style but is was required for work. He could make do with it. Gloves fit snugly over his hands and Calamity was on his back. Under the jacket, he had sheathed Black Flower's Thorn. This job was with Yona. Kyran shivered, his demons swarming to the top of his mind. They wanted to play with his guildmate in the worst kind of way. Any guildmate would do but they seemed to think Yona was offering herself on a platter.

Let me beat her. At anything. She teased us with control when you first arrived. I want to make her lose! Kyran sighed at the subtle purr across his mind. Medea was among the weakest of his demons. He winced as she raked her claws across his brain. She was also an ornery bitch. Put something in her drink. Or drop a rat at her feet. Wait is she scared of rats? Oh I know pull on her wrappings! I'd love to see her run in public with her boobs hanging out for the world to see. Kyran was surprised by the rapid talking. A shadow pressed against the edges of his mind. Erebos, the demon bent on mischief, rarely talked. Something about Yona must have really irritated him. Malinda was silent for now as was Ahriman. Kyran decided to take that as good luck. Checking his outfit once more, he headed out the door.

Yona was waiting on the steps for him. At least, he hoped she was. His body reacted to her in the worst way possible simply from the sight of her. Malinda surged to the surface. Grab her from behind, Key. Squeeze that chest a little. Maybe slide your hand down her stomach and cup her. Drive your teeth into her neck in love bite. She'll love that. Kyran sat down next to Yona, ignoring the demon. "So you wanted me to come along on a job? Any particular reason why? I'm not a strong mage and I'm a newbie around here." Kyran asked wanting to get this out of the way. He was curious. He hoped Yona was feeling sorry for the way she treated him and this was her way of apologizing. Look as those legs, Key. Imagine them wrapped around your waist. Or better yet, imagine the ass they lead to. You could grip that firm ass while you pound into her. A blush spread across Kyran's cheeks. He hated Malinda. She knew why he didn't have sex. Yet she goaded him every time anyone even slightly attractive was around.

Kyran got to his feet to ease the pressure. "Should we get going? He asked, his voice rough with his desire. Curse that demon. Why couldn't she leave him alone? Kyran started walking down the path to the port. They needed a ship right? Kyran tried to walk normally as much as he could. It wasn't easy and Malinda snickered softly in his head. Stupid demon. Stupid little Key. Kyran continued to walk, slowing just enough to let Yona catch up.

Yona Hisamori heard the sound of footsteps behind her and she leaned back, placing her head on the step behind her and bending like a gymnast to see who it was. With her long green hair splayed out around her and her bright green eyes, she looked like a fresh spring bloom this morning. "I need an extra set of eyes and hands. Besides, you need to get out in the field and get experience one way or another, Kyran. Kyran right?" She clarified. Yona was trying to be on her best behavior for this job and she ought not to start by picking on the new guy. As Kyran sat down beside the female, Yona adjusted to sit straight back up and angle her body to face him.

She gave a nod to his question, "Yeah we should get going. The next boat leaves in ten minutes and we are meeting Guy Stratus on the docks of Terra Ignis. Or something." She shrugged and noted the male's cheeks faint red flush. She smirked and stood up, stretching her arms and showing off her fit form under her coat. She considered it for a moment, how all men reacted to her, and yet never had she thought of how it played a part for other mages around her. Her natural allure was irresistible to common folk and uncivilized miscreants, why not to those equal to her? Yona thought it might be fun to play with him a little and so she tugged on her sleeves and pulled her coat completely off.

She draped her coat haphazardly over her arm, "Getting a little warm for me just sitting here. I'll take it in case it's cold on the boat. You coming?" Yona called out behind her. She walked down the stairs and headed towards the docks through the small market. It wasn't far but she wasn't keen on being late. Something to certainly notice was that she carried no weapons and no armor. The only thing that appeared upon her besides her clothing was a medium sized tattoo on her lower back in the shape of an inked lotus with black and red lines. Nobody knew what it was for, except of course for the guy who tattooed it on her and Yona, of course. She strode on without looking back at Kyran, her head and eyes focused and set on the task before her. She had a playful streak but Yona was serious too, about getting her work done before play and about money.

Kyran's eyes widened as Yona stripped down. Malinda howled with laughter as she witnessed the act. She's feisty. You should (the rest of this conversation has been confiscated. If you have complaints, please see HEMD violations code before filing your complaint. We thank you for your time and will now release you back to your regularly scheduled RP. Have a nice day!) Kyran scowled at the demon's unwanted commentary. He had enough of a problem without making a mess. How would he explain that to Yona? Hey I need to go back and change my pants quick! Why? uh because they uh don't fit right. What? No! I wasn't staring at your ass. Okay fine I was. Leave me alone. I haven't had sex in years. Kyran shuddered. He didn't want to remember his first and only time having sex. It was pain intertwined with humiliation, self-loathing and pain. He doubted he would ever willingly get back into a woman's bed.

Seeing Yona's tattoo brightened Kyran's day. It gave him something to think about other than Yona's sexy walk and gave him a conversation to talk to her about. "Hey that's a nice tattoo. Does it symbolize anything? Or did you get it for fun?" He rolled up his sleeves to show her his own tattoos. Well at least some of them. Black chains wrapped around his right forearm in a sleeve tattoo. A matching sleeve tattoo was on the other forearm except this one was made out of thorns. The back of his left hand had a black rose intertwined with blue eldritch energy. He had to tug his fingerless glove off to show her that one. He had a couple more but showing those would require him to take his shirt off. Kyran wasn't willing to do that especially not for a stranger. "I got these as a reminder..." He trailed off. Don'r reveal too much. She could always use it to stab you in the back later.

Oh stop your whining. She's challenging you. Look at her strutting around like a slut. Beat her at her own game. Strip off your shirt. Or better yet unbutton it and leave it open. Show off those muscles you worked so hard for. Medea purred into his mind. Kyran scowled at the cat demon. He had had peace for five blinking seconds before she butt her head in. What was it about Yona that got these damn demons so agitated? He continued on as if she hadn't spoken. It didn't take long to reach the boat. Kyran stepped back to let Yona climb on first. Trip her or kick her into the water. Erebos snapped, sliding into place in Kyran's mind. He had to stifle a sigh. If it wasn't one demon it was the other. This would be his personal hell today.

Yona walked along with him, noting his strange and abrupt changes in mood: first a scowl, then a grin, then a near grimace. She didn't mention it, still unsure of the stability of his mind and she was careful to not actually touch him as she walked by his side. Who knew what might happen and this time Ruvel and Ada weren't there to pick up the pieces of his sanity. Lightly and politely, Yona replied to him without looking stepping onto the docks.

"A friend helped me deal with a gang of thugs once. It's a long story, you probably don't want to know. But at the end of it, found out he was an Ace." Yona chuckled, "He convinced me to stop living on the streets and working as a vagabond and join a guild. I didn't have any guilds in mind, they didn't much appeal to me." The green haired woman appeared shamed then, running a delicate hand through the ends of her tresses. She looked back up at him, eyes closed in a nervous smile. "I guess I didn't appeal to any of them either." She climbed onto the boat and leaned on the railing as it set sail. It moved faster than she expected it to, propelled by some sort of magic, and the wind caught her long hair and tossed it into the air behind her.

There were likely many questions lingering in the air now. Like, how did she end up on Divide Island? How did she end up part of such a prestigious and well-thought of guild like WFTC? She would have hoped that he would ask why a woman like her would be unappealing to a guild, but Yona didn't kid herself none. She was more than a little rough around the edges and her rebellious nature was infamous in several places. She was quiet for a moment, having looked at his tattoos curiously, thorns and chains, and an ebon rose. Still, Yona hadn't really answered his question at all. She wasn't disinclined to tell Kyran, but in her experience few wanted her to go into detail on her personal life and miscellaneous misadventures. "My Ace friend helped me get the tattoo, in any case. It's actually armor, so you might see it in action today." Yona tilted her head, "What do your tattoos remind you of?" The green haired woman sharply inhaled as the boat picked up pace even further.

As they chatted, it wouldn't be long before land appeared on the horizon. The boat was faster than Yona had even perceived and yet she was happy to meet Guy earlier and get the job done faster. She met Kyran's eyes, just wondering what he was thinking.

Kyran looked Yona over when he heard her say she hadn't been appealing to any of the guilds. Malinda licked her lips, obviously about to say something. Kyran batted her down without hesitation. "It's hard to see that when you are clearly quite appealing. I haven't even seen your magic but clearly you flower wherever you plant your roots." He followed her onto the boat. Leaning against the railing next to her, Kyran looked out onto the ocean. He could feel his familiar feeling of wanderlust. Still the wanderlust was subdued under his curiosity of Yona. Kyran was still trying to get over his recent heartbreak. Curse Ada for pulverizing his heart.

Malinda slithered toward the surface of his mind. (We have redacted these foul awful words of seduction as they no longer comply with the rules of the site. As such, we mods have pulled it and will be speaking to the creator of this post forthwith. Thank you for your understanding and have a nice RP) Kyran sighed softly, shifting to make himself more comfortable. Or at least ease the pressure on his lower half. "How would a woman like yourself seem unappealing to a guild? I'm sure you are quite the capable mage on top of being quite beautiful at that. And if the guilds didn't find you appealing, how did you end up in WFTC? I'm sure there is quite the story to be told there." He flashed a grin at her. His curiosity rarely applied to people but recently it seemed he was meeting more and more intriguing people. "You don't have to tell me if you don't wish to. I merely find myself curious."

He turned when the boat picked up speed. Hearing Yona's gasp, Kyran smirked cheekily at her. "Are you excited by the speed or scared by it, Yona? As for my tattoos,..." His jolly demeanor faded a bit as he looked down at his tattoos again. "They remind me of my past and the lessons learned there. I don't ever want to forget how cruel people can be." Kyran turned when he heard the call for land. His dark thoughts were swept aside in his rushing wanderlust. They were entering a new land. This would be exciting.

When the boat stopped, Kyran hopped down the gangway. He turned, extending a hand. "If you'll do me the honor, milady?" Kyran said smiling mischievously from his partial bow. "It would be quite an accomplishment to have a lady so far above my station on my arm, if only for a little while. He bowed his head again to await Yona's judgement. It also allowed him to hide a grin that may have made the gesture seem fake. The demons scowled at his actions trying to figure out what had their prisoner so lively all of a sudden.

Post by Zincarla 9th March 2018, 10:23 am

The green haired nineteen year old was quiet for a moment, a little smile playing on her lips. She tried to hide her pleasure at his compliments, but could not. They did not seem to mean the same as how those compliments worked with most who gave them to her. He didn't seem to want or expect anything from her and she could appreciate the kindness whilst wondering and distrusting that kindness. Nothing was ever really free after all and Kyran was too much a stranger to believe or trust at this point in time. Still, Kyran seemed wistful, nearly distant in his complimenting, staring off over the water as it the boat moved along.

He asked her about how she got into WFTC and indeed it was an interesting story. She chuckled a bit recalling it with austere clarity, but that story also had a sad ending what with how Yona met Ruvel. She was still unsure as to how it worked exactly and was dealing with how to view Ruvel and his summons. "Maybe another time," Yona whispered, letting the wind drown out her reply as the boat sped along. When he quickly asked her how she felt about the speed of the boat, Yona turned her face up to look up at him. "I'm not afraid of anything," Yona grinned brightly, but there was a fierceness in her emerald eyes that gave strength to her words. Not afraid, not afraid. Not afraid of anything. She gave a shrug then, listening to his tales on his tattoos. "Aren't all people cruel? Have you yourself no actions to regret? I envy you that," the green haired female said. It was presumptive but not really a mean thing to say. She turned her attention away from his tattoos, choosing to ignore his questions about how she got into the guild. Another story for another time, perhaps.

Yona could see the dark haired man pacing on the docks, impatient and dressed like a cross between an adventurer and a business man. It was Guy Stratus and sharing her personal stories would not do well while they were on a job. Job first, relationships, stories, everything else came second. When the boat stopped and Kyran offered her arm, Yona took it without hesitation, even before he complimented her and placed her on a metaphoric pedestal. "Well, you're attractive enough yourself that we won't look too mismatched. The green haired woman shook her head, "But call me Yona, would you? No need to be all respectful, I don't deserve none of that etiquette. We are equals on this job." She bestowed upon him the gift of her smile and a wink of her eye.

Guy Stratus approached them quickly, noting the white uniforms, even while managing a scowl. "You are late. Late! I wanted you here hours ago! Come, hurry, we must get to the cliffs- no time to waste!" The man didn't ask for credentials, he didn't ask for their names, and his face curled as if he had smelled sour milk which only encouraged Yona herself to not supply him with anything he didn't ask for. She looked over at Kyran and started to follow after Guy's brisk pace, moving over the docks and towards the cliffs a few hills over. She whispered, "This is going to be real fun, Kyran." Guy glanced back at her and frowned, "It's not about fun. It is about obtaining my Prismatic Aegis. This Aegis is the most wondrous of items and I have searched for years." He stopped abruptly, turning to wag a finger at the pair, "Neither of you is going to mess this up for me. And if I die, you don't get any money out of this." It was true then, what they had said about Guy being humorless and dry.

Post by Kyran 9th March 2018, 4:55 pm

Kyran noticed Yona's pleasure at his compliments. He also made out the shadows in her eyes despite her smile. It made him wonder what she had gone through in her past. What made her distrust people nearly as much as he did? He stopped himself from laying a hand on her arm. Malinda was too close to the forefront of his mind. Encouraging her too much did not seem like a good idea. So no matter how much he wanted to ask or to comfort, at this time, it seemed to be a bad idea.

Kyran laughed when she denied being afraid. Her strength delighted him. He had never been attracted to the weak women who always needed their man. "Except for Claudia, Key. She wanted a man who could protect and provide. You couldn't do either." The hissing in his head caused shadows to pass behind his eyes as he looked down upon Yona. Her statement following his explanation of his tattoos made all his demons crow in happiness. "I thought that for a while. A few people are slowly changing my mind." Kyran turned away from Yona. He wasn't sure if he wanted to reveal too much of his past. "Don't envy me though. I regret more than you know." His voice was heavy with emotion. Clearly there was something in his past he regretted greatly.

Her teasing of him as he tucked her hand into his arm made Kyran laugh again. "Ah Yona, we would not be equals if I was VP of WFTC and you were only a newbie. You clearly surpass me in ways you yourself cannot see yet." He smiled at her, the expression soft and open. "You'll make someone very happy some day, Yona. I hope to be there on that day so I can tell you I told ya so." Kyran wasn't going to try to address her comment he was nearly as attractive as her. That simply wasn't true. He was ugly, unable to keep the eye of anyone passing by. Their eyes always slid right past his face should they deign to look upon him.

Kyran stayed silent through their client's tirade. He wasn't representing only himself now or he would have put the man in his place. When Guy turned around and scolded them, Kyran had had enough. He put a hand over Yona's to remind himself to keep in check. "Mr. Stratus, please remember we are here of our own free will. We can always leave if we feel you are being too abusive verbally. We are allowed to have fun if we so wish it. You cannot dictate whether or not that simple fact is true. Now, I would thank you to please turn around and continue leading us on. As you kindly pointed out before, we are behind schedule." While his voice sounded cool enough, there was an undertone of fury. Kyran was constantly pushing away Ahriman as he spoke. The wolf demon pushed eagerly against the edges of his mind, trying to take control.

Kyran patted Yona's hand when they were once more on their way. "I've heard you are quite the prankster." Kyran whispered, glancing at Guy to make sure he couldn't hear them. "If he yells at us like that again, perhaps we can...persuade his attitude to remain as amenable as possible via your tricks." Erebos stirred from his sleep at Kyran's words. The mischievous demon wanted to help putting Guy in his place. Kyran was having none of it. The demon would most likely get them in big trouble.

Yona couldn't help but make a face, her expression highlighting first her surprise, then her confusion. Why was he cozying up to her so much? What had he to gain? They were already equals in the mission ahead, and more or less so in the eyes of the guild. What did he mean that she had surpassed him in ways she didn't understand? Why would he tell her that she would make someone happy? She knew the phrase he used well enough, having used it herself on hapless men while she swindled them in her youthful ventures. But marriage, relationships, happiness... these were not things Yona looked for or desired. She wanted revenge and only to avenge her little brother Sato.

When she thought of the little boy, her body tensed reflexively. No, she would not find happiness, and she had undoubtedly made most people miserable. Kyran was a flatterer, nothing more, and Yona had met types like him. A half real smile appeared and Yona answered, "If you say so, Kyran." As Guy went on and on, finally whirling on the pair of guild mates, Yona tensed again. She was fighting her urges to hit the guy. She was on a job- so no messing around, no getting into trouble. Ruvel would certainly see to her punishment if she did anything to misrepresent the guild. And after recent activities of dubious intentions, Yona had a feeling she was on thin ice with Ruvel and Cirven as it was. She felt Kyran's hand on her's and it helped ground her emotions.

Yona had to fight even harder to appear professional as Kyran put the man in his place. Her green eyes widened but she made no sound. The way Kyran told the man off and yet maintained the sort of professional air desired on jobs was admirable in the nineteen year old's eyes. Him whispering to her had only sealed the deal on Yona's enjoyment of his company. She hated to admit it, but as strange and weak minded that Kyran had first seemed and as little as she knew of him, Yona was really starting to like the man. "Only if you think we can get away with it. I can't cause more trouble right now," Yona muttered looking disappointed. Suddenly, Guy stopped and Yona had to stop abruptly as well. She pulled her arm out of Kyran's and her face lit up.

"Wow," She let out, viewing over the cliffs. The ruins built into the cliffs appeared old but against the white limestone cliffs, it was nearly invisible in the light, blending right in. If she hadn't been so close, she would have missed it. Guy Stratus caught her quip and glanced back at them, standing on the precipice. He clearly approved of her appreciation and gave a serious nod. "It took me two years, and this whole time the thing I desired most was practically next door." He adjusted his scabbard over his hip, his fingers brushing against the short sword and the bull whip located there, jerking the bull whip free. "It isn't a far climb down, but be cautious. The platform you see below us is the doorstep to death. The tomb entry hall way is as far as I could get to on my own."

With the bull whip in one hand and his other free, he made his way to the edge of the cliff side, finding sturdy handholds and foot holds with his eyes. "The inside hallway has many colored tiles, and let me tell you- they are all dangerous, except the yellow ones. So don't go dashing inside and getting your head's exploded or something." The excitement in Guy was palpable, and his concern seemed real enough. Before more questions could be asked, the archaeologist began his descent of the tall cliff, holding the whip in his teeth as he climbed downwards. It looked about a twenty foot drop to the platform, but the way he moved made it obvious he had done it plenty of times. Yona looked at Kyran and swallowed hard. Heights were the one thing she did really hate-- cliffs like this just weren't her style. But a job was a job, so the woman adorned in white approached the cliff edge, putting her coat back on as she moved.

Kyran let a small smile slip across his face at Yona's response. She was a mischievous one. He checked that Guy was still turned away from them. "I suppose I could take the fall for anything you might do. The VPs don't like me too much and a little more destructive behavior on my part would be par for the course. If you see a chance, take it." He patted her hand and winked at her. The demons roiled in agony within his mind. That only made his smile grow wider. The more he interacted with Yona, the more agitated the demons became. That made her company all the more enjoyable.

Kyran didn't approach the edge of the cliff. He was watching Guy closely. There was something weird about him. Energetic yet calm and cool. It was a strange contrast Kyran hadn't really seen before. He did catch Yona looking at him and swallowing hard. So she didn't like heights huh? Kyran swept her into his arms. "Hold tight, my lady." He said cheekily before leaping off the edge of the cliff. Erebos laughed giddily as they plummeted through the air. The wind tore away Kyran's bandanna. He scowled but let it go. His arms were securely around Yona. His feet hit the platform with a loud thud. Kyran bent to absorb the shock of the jump. Yona's extra weight forced him down on one knee. Kyran laughed, his hair now falling over his forehead. "Quite the thrill isn't it?"

Kyran set Yona on her feet and looked back up the cliff. Guy was still near the top. Kyran was sure the man was either watching them or continuing his journey down the side of the cliff, having completely missed their exit. "Shall we wait for you, Mr. Stratus? Or should we begin clearing the entrance hall?" Kyran called cupping his hands over his mouth. Some alone time with Yona hmmmm? Perhaps... (The rest of this character's statement has been erased. Contact your mod or check your rules for reasons why. This is warning one for user Kyran. Please enjoy your RP) Kyran's cheeks colored from Malinda's words. He wasn't interested in Yona like that. He couldn't be. She was attractive for sure but to take that one step further would require trust. On both of their parts. He wasn't sure either of them was willing to give that.

Kyran turned to Yona. The demons were pressing close to his mind, sensing his turmoil.
Any more and he might break, ruining this whole mission. "Promise me something. If I go crazy, get Guy out of there. I have....abilities I can't control and if I use them, they'll likely hit indiscriminately. I don't want to give WFTC a bad name because I can't use my magic well" His expression was serious. His hands were behind his back in a rather formal position. The demons cackled in his head. We'll never be a part of your magic, stupid boy. Medea hissed, raking his mind with her claws. You're not good enough for us. Kyran ignored the demon's taunting, focusing on Yona alone. Her answer was important for how he would proceed.

Yona stiffened in Kyran's grasp. When he lifted her up into his arms, she almost protested, and then chose not to. If she put up a fight or argument about it, well it could always end in her falling off the cliffside. It was easier just to let him jump down with her. Though, Yona was no chicken and she was no damsel in distress. Even in the face of fear, it annoyed her that he presumed to jump in and save her. And despite her annoyed face and words, "The real thrill will be me beating you up if you grab me without permission again." Yona relaxed as he placed her feet on the platform, her annoyance a falsehood and shortlived.

Her green eyes lifted upwards, watching Guy clamor down the cliff-side with remarkable agility. "He's spritely for an archaeologist, don't you think?" The moss haired maiden listened for Guy's reply to Kyran's question. The voice of Guy came down in a softer echo, "I'll be fine, you guys handle the squares on the hallway." He picked his way down carefully and Yona gave a shrug.

When she turned to Kyran, he requested her backup if his magic went out of his control. She made a frown face, "I don't think so." Yona put a hand on his arm, "You and I are partners in this, so we will keep Guy safe and we will make it in and out all together. The job sets the requirements, and we just follow." Yona patted his arm and then stepped to look down the hallway. She was pretty sure she had a fine idea for getting over the colored squares. "I think I have an idea of how to get over these. Stand back a little."

Yona lifted her right hand and then flicked her wrist, casting her spell. With a quick green glow, three shoots of bamboo sprouted from the flooring just in front of the colored tiles. They angled up quite high and Yona was pretty sure that she could make the jump. Yona set out in a swift dash, running past Kyran and then running up the length of her bamboo shoots. She launched herself off the top and felt herself flying across. There were a few non-dangerous yellow squares and all she had to do.... was land on one. Once she was in the air, she realized that she hadn't thought through of what might she do if she didn't think she would land on a yellow square.

Post by Kyran 17th March 2018, 1:28 pm

Kyran feigned distress at Yona's words. Underneath, he found his mischievousness strange. He had never really been one to joke around with others. It was something Kyran had never felt comfortable with. Yet with Yona, he was joking around like it was nothing at all. It was relaxing...and more than a little fun. "Ah, my Lady Hisamori forgive me this transgression!" He bowed low, letting his teasing be obvious. Kyran didn't want her to think he was mocking her. "I saw a chance to touch the holiness of your skin and I couldn't help myself!" He hadn't actually touched her skin due to her coat but that was the joke. Kyran raised his head to flash a smile at Yona before he straightened.

The blue-eyed mage didn't respond to Yona's comment on Guy. It did seem a little odd the scientist...archaeologist...gynecologist...whatever he was would be in quite so good physical shape. Kyran struggled not to let his paranoia rise to the surface. His family had left him alone for years. He shoved the darkness away. Kyran jumped at Yona's hand on his arm. "I..." Her assertion that they were partners made him uncertain. Did she understand the danger? Or was she saying she would face it with him? "As you wish." Kyran gave her a slight bend at the waist. If she was willing to try, so was he.

Kyran let Yona try her plan to cross the floor. Before she reached the climax of her jump, he could tell she wasn't going to make it to a safe spot. "Yona!" He cried out racing forward. There was no plan only reaching for something anything to make him stronger. Erebos raced into his grip and the demon merged with his body. He felt shadowy horns grow from his temples pointed down past his face. His hands and feet felt weird but he suddenly had the speed he needed. The rest of the changes could wait. His feet flew up the strange plant Yona had created before he launched himself into the air. The burst of speed sent Kyran right into Yona. His arms wrapped about her, tucking her into his chest. Even with his speed boost, Kyran hadn't gotten what he needed to get them to safety. Tiny wings fluttered at his back, straining to lift them or push them forward. He knew it wouldn't get them far enough. The air resisted as Kyran rolled them over. Yona would now be safe. Kyran would take the brunt of the damage.

Kyran landed on his back, sliding the last few meters to safety. He grit his teeth against the pain that managed to hit him. Tiny explosions and implosions rained about them, interjected by green needles. There was a bloody smear left across the last meter of tiles and the meter they slid into safety. Kyran lay still breathing heavily. The back of his coat was ruined for sure. There were gashes all through out his back and scattered upon his limbs. He let his arms relax once he was sure they were safe. They fell to either side. A half-grin crossed his face. "I'm not sure if I should yell like Johann or laugh and thank you for the crazy ass ride." He looked down at her, the shadow horns dissipating from around his face. "Are you alright?" All that was left of his transformation was black runes upon his neck, a devil's tail waving between his legs and his hands being black as night, dripping shadows while they broke at the edges. He didn't even notice, his attention absorbed in making sure Yona was alright.

Yona Hisamori was mid-air, thinking quickly of what to do next. She had little fear if she messed up, what with her magical armor. She didn't tell Kyran what it did or what it was used for, but for sure what it was capable of would become apparent if she was desperate enough to use it. She considered all of her spells and then grinned, she had just the spell to stop her fall in time. Her arms moved quickly and then she felt another set of arms wrap around her. In surprise, she stopped, shocked as Kyran grabbed her and called out her name. He held her tightly to his chest, preventing her from moving or casting her other spells and she shouted at him,, frantically, "No, wait, idiot, let me go!"

It was too little, too late. Yona was clutched to her partner's body as he slammed into the tiles below, sending an uproar of various explosions around them. She was safe and unharmed, though her hair was messed up and her attractive coat was dirtied by the explosions that took place. She shouted at him again, but this time in concern, noting that he had not escaped unharmed. "Kyran! You fool!" She cursed loudly, not caring if Guy heard the unprofessional language. By this time, Guy was standing on the opposite end, mouth hanging open and head shaking back and forth. She thought she heard him muttering something about how 'he had thought he was paying for real help' but Yona's quick temper was not the priority. She frowned, annoyed. If he had just trusted her, she was certainly reckless, but the female didn't have a deathwish-- as it now seemed that he might have had.

Yona dashed towards him, pulling him away from the tiles, safely on the opposite side of the hallway now. Her bamboo shoots were already starting to fade away into glistening specks of green magic. She sighed heartily, hearing him ask if she was all right, and joking about his condition. "I feel the same way about you. You seriously don't trust me to handle myself do you?" She questioned. Regardless as to what he said or did, the green haired woman was working quickly to take care of her partner.

First, Yona cast a spell speaking softly under her breath, "Aloe-Allay," and it would also appear that she disregarded his tail, his wings, and the black runes coursing down his neck. Immediately his pain would be soothed, enough to make it so the pain was more than just manageable. And then the healing began, closing wounds and preventing scars or damage. His damaged clothing were things she could not help. "It's not much, but it should help. Feel better?" Yona asked him, a bit callous and a bit concerned in her tone. From across the way Guy crossed his arms and then waved one at them, "Is he all right? Can he continue?" Yona looked down at Kyran and gestured with her head for him to be the one to respond to the impatient archaeologist.

Post by Kyran 19th March 2018, 5:00 pm

Kyran's cheery manner slowly evaporated when Yona asked questioned his trust in her. He grimaced moving to sit up. These wounds were nothing compared to what he had gone through. "I apologize Yona. It wasn't my intent to make you doubt my trust. When I see someone about to get hurt--especially if I like or care about them--I react without thinking." He smiled at her, trying to appear reassuring. It probably didn't work well with all the blood on him. "I'm also a little new at trusting others. I was abused. Ada has helped me come out of my shell a bit but you gotta understand that this time it wasn't about trust. I simply reacted to seeing you in danger." A blush tinged his cheeks. He wasn't sure why he was talking so much to Yona. She hadn't done anything to get him to open up.

Her spell was barely felt. Kyran looked at her in surprise. Why had she wasted magic healing him? "Thank you but I would have been okay. I can barely feel pain anymore." He shifted around to check his mobility. His strange features faded away completely as his shirt and coat disintegrated. "That's what I get for not wearing Vee's gift." Kyran sighed looking down at his bare chest. Calamity was alright at least. He looped the bow over his head once again. Without preamble, Kyran pushed to his feet. The light caught on his defined upper body. Muscle wrapped around  nearly every inch of him. There were two tattoos upon his torso. A ball of black fire resting directly over his sternum and vines that reached up from his waistline. The red-haired mage stepped past Yona to talk to the client. That revealed his scarred back, covered by a pair of angel wing tattoos. There was also a sword strapped vertically across his lower back. It looked slightly damaged. Kyran's pants also hung low upon his hips.

"I'm a mage of the West Fiore Trading Company, Mr. Stratus. I would continue regardless of any damage I took until the job was finished. That is after all what you hired us for." Kyran called across the dangerous trap. "I must apologize for my state of dress though. It looks like crossing over here destroyed them." Kyran looked back at Yona. His eyes were cold, pointed over her head. He was trying not to see the judging look that must be in her eyes. His body was ugly, the tattoos pointless, his skills useless since he wasn't good in bed. Claudia had pounded those lessons home with her last act against him. The demons remained silent though he could feel their grins. This was entertaining to them. "You wouldn't happen to have a way to get him to us, would you? I'd prefer not to be baked again." Kyran's voice sounded off now, like he was struggling not to cry. He cursed his inability to keep his emotions in check. What good did it do to show Yona he had a soft side? Women preferred strong partners that had no emotions but passion and rage.

Kyran turned back to the puzzle floor. The tiles he had set off still glowed with magical power. They either recharged or setting them off did nothing to their supply. That meant they couldn't blast a path for him. Then how did the builders get back across after finishing this temple? Kyran looked around to try and find the answer. He sighed when he saw the obvious answer upon the wall. "Wait Yona. There's an off switch right there." Kyran walked over and pressed his hand into the bronze handprint. Immediately all of the tiles flipped over, creating a safe passage. The wall also opened allowing them access into the deeper temple. Kyran rubbed his forehead. This job might be more of a pain than he had originally thought.

The green haired woman listened to Kyran as he confessed his personal secrets and emotions. It was odd to witness, one part of her pitying him for sharing such things with a woman he barely knew and shouldn't certainly trust, and another part of her envying him for the bravery it took to do so regardless of what her response might have been. Yona never shared her real self like that with anyone and to do so made her wonder if he was more psychologically stable than she was after all, even considering his obvious demon problem. Her irritation with him left her quickly, as although her history was a tragic one, Yona had never been abused and she had never doubted the love that her family had for her. She didn't know what Kyran's situation was but she doubted he wanted to talk to her about it in the middle of a job.

It was easier to just nod and not say anything extra about his confession, his demon-esque qualities, or the scars and tattoos which overlayed his skin and muscles. She would log those away for a later discussion perhaps, but not in the midst of this dangerous job with an impatient and highly observant client. "You're welcome," She whispered to Kyran as he got to his feet and dealt with Guy. Yona looked around the area, seeking out a way to bypass the trap set in the hallway and her green eyes caught sight of the bronze handprint at the same time Kyran's did. "Great, put your hand in and hope it doesn't blow up too." It did not.

When the tiles flipped over, without fear, Guy races across the seemingly safe hallway to join back up with them. "Glad to hear it then, you don't appear very injured. Would you like my vest?" He offered cordially to Kyran, already starting to take it off. Yona shook her head and looked around the area, it just seemed like the hallway went on and on, though of course that could not be true. "Stay close, Kyran. Mr. Stratus do you know what this hall leads to?" The archaeologist shook his head, lifting his hands up in surrender, "Haven't made it past the entry. But my research tells me the aegis is within. I assure, you will get paid either way." The woman looked to Kyran and then sighed, "All right I am going ahead to look for traps."

Yona walked forward down the hall and it seemed safe. She looked side to side, the hallway wall's blank and made of the same limestone that built the outer gateway and platform. There were no bloodstains, piles of bones, dirt, or any other sign of life here. She looked around, walking quietly, her eyebrows knit together as Yona sought out signs of traps or life. She was so distrusting. Finally, she lifted her left hand, signalling the others to pause. "Kyran, I don't like this. It's like a mirage, there has to be a spell or something." When he didn't answer, Yona turned around to look for him. To her surprise, he was gone, Guy was gone, and she was alone. A shiver tried to start its way up her spine but the nineteen year old shook it off. This was no time to get antsy.

Suddenly, the sconces on the wall which had lit the course, went out. Yona stood there in utter darkness, about to call out for Kyran and Guy, when she heard an eerie sound of stone against stone. Something was about to happen.

Kyran smiled kindly down at their client. There was no way the man's vest would fit Kyran's form. "I do appreciate the offer, Mr. Stratus. Unfortunately, your vest is more likely to rip and leave me in the same predicament I already find myself in. I know now to invest in sturdier clothing for future jobs. That being said, I wish to finish quickly so that I might get some clothing back on." Kyran stepped up near Yona at her command. He figured she was only putting up with him out of responsibility towards the job. She likes what she sees. Malinda hissed sliding into place. Can't you smell her arousal?

Kyran hid his scowl from Stratus and Yona. Malinda was starting to get on his nerves. If she didn't stop, there would be consequences. Both for him and for her. When he turned his head back, the hallway was empty. He frowned. Yona had been only a little ways in front of him. When Kyran checked behind him, Stratus was also missing. "So a trap then. Quite a clever one as well. I suppose..." All of the sconces on the wall went out at the same time. Kyran yawned as he unlimbered Calamity. This wouldn't be hard in the least bit.

Stone rubbed against stone, a mysterious grinding noise. The hallway was lit by a low blue light. Four stone guardians stood in Kyran's way. "I don't suppose yall might just step aside?" When the guardians started to move forward, Kyran raised his bow. "Thought not. Shame" Calamity hummed as it unleashed its energy arrows. Kyran put two into each guardian just to be safe. When that failed to take them down, Kyran raised an eyebrow. They were stronger then he originally thought. Their arms were coming up. That wasn't a good sign. Kyran began to move side to side as he fired arrows. This time he concentrated on a single target. It only took one or two more arrows. Unfortunately the others unleashed their magic.

Grasping vines sprouted from the floor, reaching for Kyran. He shot arrows at them experimentally as he backpedaled down the hall. When that didn't stop them, he turned his aim to the guardians. It took only moments to bring them down. The vines vanished and Stratus appeared again. He was huddled on the floor in the fetal position. Kyran double checked their surroundings before kneeling next to the man. Calamity was kept in one hand just in case. "Mr. Stratus? Are you all right?"

When the lights went out, the sound of stone moving decided Yona's first move. She reached down and touched the floor of the hallway quickly. There were three monsters or objects moving over the floor. It was weird- the monsters were not normal, they had no real pulse to discern, and yet they weren't inanimate either. Animated statues? Marble made guardians? She hoped they were made of a softer stone than granite and marble, but in either case she needed to move. As she jumped back up, taking several quick steps a softened blue glow illuminated the places in the wall where the stone guardians had been sitting innocuously moments before. It wasn't much, but in the dim shadow filled light, Yona's green eyes could make out the creatures.

She had to be fast in order to get a first strike on them. First, without even thinking, her body had produced enough chemical pheromones to attract a swarm of flying, biting, hydroquinone-spraying beetles with subdued red legs and black carapaces. The beetles went after the four guardians, landing and spraying the acid at the stone. By the light sizzling sound, Yona grinned. The guardians were made also of limestone, same as the platform to the hidden ruins in the cliffs. And something as acidic as vinegar would have an effect. Sadly, she didn't have any of that on hand, so the beetles had to do. Without needing to make a verbal command, Yona had the beetles move to locations on the guardians where they would not easily be crushed or injured.

And then, in the low blue light, Yona concentrated her mind, focusing on the three guardians. For a short time, she believed she could control them and without Kyran around, Yona really hoped she could. At first, the guardians moved towards her slowly, the limestone grinding over the floor loudly and then she demanded with ferocity, "Draw out your weapons and attack the stone guardian next to you with them." After a pause, one that was far too long to be anything but agonizing, the shadows and the loud sounds started up again. Smash! Smash! Rocks broke apart and fell to the ground, and still, in the cacophany the slamming continued. Yona coughed on the dust in the air, stepping back to avoid getting hit by falling stones.

She covered her mouth and eyes with her hands to protect them, commanding the beetles with her chemical pheromones to continue their own onslaught. After a few minutes, the crashing and banging seemed to have subsided. The green haired woman chuckled, lowering her hands and then clapping them together as if she were dusting them off. Her tone of voice was dripping with smugness as she talked to herself, "Kyran, now if you could have seen this. Full control, no problem." Unfortunately, the nineteen year old was overconfident and didn't bother to check the area more completely. Dust clouded up the hall to the point where the blue glow of the walls was barely even visible. With the trap "completed", Yona took a few careful steps forward, climbing over the broken crags in the dark, her pale hands out for balance.

That was when large grasping vines shot up from the floor and the walls, binding to her arms and legs, spreading her in the hallway like she was to be pulled limb from limb. Yona cried out as she fought the vines, not even able to see what was holding her. Some large stone weapon crashed into her legs and she howled out. Yona jerked her arms harder until the stone weapon landed again, this time upon her torso. She groaned and hung her head, pausing to try to catch her breath as the strike winded her small form. "Son of a--" Yona heaved out, wondering if a rib was broken. A stone guardian had moved in the dark and without being targeted by Yona's mind control, had managed to remain hidden in the sounds of the destruction of the other creatures. And reckless, careless, complacent Yona had found herself in the grip of the vines, unable to move or cast spells, at the mercy of the guardian in the dark.
    * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Guy Stratus, unbeknownst to Yona or Kyran's plight had shifted into fear at the utter disappearance of his own guardians in the dark. He had replaced his vest back onto his person and a few minutes later, at Kyran's materialization, relaxed and got back to his feet. The archaeologist gave a nod and smoothed his vest out. He drew out a whip and said, "Oh, yes, yes. I am fine. I am not completely useless, you know." Guy looked around in the hall and gestured with the whip towards the marble door at the end of the way. "There's a symbol on there. If you can move those vines, maybe I can get a better idea of if we are going the right way." As if there were some other way to go that they had missed, which there had not been. And despite being less rude, Guy's drive and focus did not extend to asking about where the green haired guide had went off to.

Kyran nodded absentmindedly to the client. He was becoming less and less thrilled with Stratus. For the sake of the job, he was tolerating the irritating man. Kyran had noted that the client hadn't even asked about the green haired mage. Erebus snickered at the back of Kyran's mind. The red head showed nothing as he mentally grabbed the demon by the throat. What do you know, demon?! Speak! He shook Erebus violently. The other demons leaned away from them. Kyran had never been so hands on with the demons until recently. They weren't used to it and they didn't like it one bit. Erebus chuckled at Kyran's rage. "Take my eyes for a moment, hostie. See what I see!"

Erebos' eyes slid over Kyran's. He turned his face away from Stratus. The man might freak if he saw the deep green split by toad's pupils instead of blue human eyes. Looking up, Kyran could see Yona trapped within the vines the guardians could summon. One of them was smashing her repeatedly. Gonna borrow your hands too, Erebos. Kyran reached out with black hands leaking shadow, shattering the barrier between them. The shockwave sent a painful jolt through Kyran. Note to self: Don't break dimensional barriers without proper preparation. He grit his teeth against the pain and placed himself between the guardian and Yona. His hands tore at the joint that served as the elbow. His strikes were fast, meant to rend. The arm broke quickly, though Kyran's fingers were bleeding. The sword hit the ground with a thud. He raised his hands to fire a spell. Eight slender missiles broke through the acid weakened limestone. Kyran wanted to wipe away the sweat on his forehead. He hadn't been sure that would work.

Kyran turned to Yona with an amused grin. "What am I going to do with you?" He tsked, teasingly. Malinda slithered into place. She's all trussed up. Cop a feel, maybe get your freak on. Stratus could even join in if you wanted. Kyran shoved the snake away. He knelt in front of Yona, examining the vines. They hadn't dissipated with the destruction of the guardian. Kyran double checked to make sure it was destroyed. Yup. "You'll have to start calling me Key with all the times I've had to rescue you. I should start asking for a reward." He smiled roguishly at her, his hand pulling out Black Flower's Thorn. He tapped the tip upon the vines. "Shall we wait for these to disappear or cut you out? I warn you, you may lose some clothing. I'm not quite up to speed with this think." He winked to let her know he was kidding. Kyran looked over to check on Stratus.

There was what appeared to be a giant hole in reality. Cracks spiderwebbed up the sides of the apparent wall. It gave them a clear path back to the client. Hopefully Stratus didn't do anything too stupid while they were in here. "If you want me to cut you free, you'll need to pay a toll." Kyran said with a mischevious grin as he turned back to Yona. He debated what he might ask for. Nothing came to mind at that moment. "You'll owe me a favor, sweetling. Or we can wait for them to disappear. Either works for me." Kyran shrugged his shoulders. The demons cried out in protest. They wanted her punished and now was the perfect time to do so. They crowded about to try and take control. Kyran focused, stepping into his mind to battle them. When he came back, he realized he'd been staring at Yona's chest the entire time. A slight blush spread across his cheeks. Kyran didn't want to get in trouble for being a pervert either from Yona or from the heads of WFTC. He realized Erebos' eyes and hands were still on his body. Well there went any chance of anything with Yona. She saw his body and his creepy demon things. He was sure she had seen his demons possess him too. There was no going back from that point. Kyran sighed, sitting on the ground near Yona's feet. He had to await her answer to his question.

Yona was still gathering her breath when Kyran burst into view, strange eyes and hands to go with him. She watched as his spell destroyed the stone guardian and her bug swarm dissipated into the cloud of dust, hiding among the rubble as insects were wont to do. The nineteen year old hung there by the vines, sure that the spell would eventually dissolve and set her free, but as it were she was fairly vulnerable and open. Yona didn't like that even slightly. When Kyran turned to her with an amused grin and teased, she wrinkled her nose. Before he even spoke she bet that he would ask her for something perverted, probably as a joke, but who knew? Men weren't always that predictable, but Yona had good intuition. She let him have his fun for a minute, because he had stopped the stone monster from beating her senseless after all. When he winked at her, Yona shook her head playfully. "You are just asking for me to slap you, you know that, Key?"

When Kyran had glanced back to check on Guy Stratus, he would find that the man had decided to go clear the vines off the door ahead without Kyran's aid. The scholar was scraping the vines away with his fingers and now examining the symbol on the door excitedly. He jumped at one point, speaking quite loudly, "I can't believe it! It really is the Aegis! The Prismatic Aegis of Gen'atoh!" Guy looked thoroughly distracted and was pulling out a small hand sized notebook, and an even tinier pencil. He was writing and recording and seemed otherwise occupied with his research-related work. The man really had no care for his personal guards unless it related to actually protecting him.

The moss-haired maiden noted his gaze lingered a bit too long on her chest, but she really didn't take much out of that. She was extremely attractive and guys had been staring at her body for as long as she had a chest to speak of. It hardly fazed her anymore, but it was quite useful when she needed specific information or items and didn't feel like paying for them. The same could have been applied here with Kyran, Yona thought, also taking heed of the pinkish stain on the male's cheeks. Normally she would have teased him back, but she had a better idea given his little nickname and his impish 'what are you going to give me' quips. Yona pulled on her arms, jerking her shoulders, causing her chest to bounce around a bit and then she put on her best bimbo voice, "Oh, Key a toll? I just don't know what kind of favor you might want.." And then with an abruptness, a devilish stare of her own, Yona stopped. "Either you cut me down, or I'll tell everyone about the way you're gawking at me right now," Her tiny threat hung in the air for a few seconds before she added, "Well, I guess I do owe you something still. How about I don't ask about any of the horns, eyes, tail, claws, you know, business? You get your privacy and your dignity in exchange for my own privacy and dignity." It was pretty embarrassing to have been caught in such a way, and so easily, Yona thought, still strung up by the vines.

Yona looked down at him where he sat with a smile. She liked his boldness, his wit, and mostly she liked the way he was weirdly capable of protecting her when she needed it and when she didn't. Part of her thought of herself as independent and not needing anything from him. Another part of her was glad someone finally had her back after all these years of relying only on herself. Right now though, Yona had a cracked rib and was pretty sore all over from the huge stone hammer that had crashed into her twice. Independence would come at too high a price on this job.

Post by Kyran 27th March 2018, 6:47 pm

Kyran put a hand to his chest at Yona's assumption that he wanted a slap. "My lady however did you guess? Sadly that is the only way I can get off nowadays and I must live for it or forever lose my purpose in life." It was a surprisingly bold comment but with Stratus busy, Kyran didn't care. He also noted that his boldness had silenced Malinda. That was a bonus he hadn't expected at all. There were ways to shut her up then. Kyran grinned at Yona, hoping she knew he was being sarcastic. It might get a little awkward back at the guild otherwise.

Stratus' enthusiasm for the Aegis was understandable. It was his lifelong dream after all. However, Kyran was beginning to wish the man would take a hint. Without his bodyguards, the two mages currently occupied, Stratus could very well die in here. That wouldn't make any of them happy. Kyran opened then closed his mouth. It didn't seem like a good idea to call out to the man, lest he accidentally touch something he wasn't supposed to and activate a trap. That would end badly for all of them. Kyran also didn't need another death on his conscious. He kept an ear out for the scientist as he turned back to his guildmate.

Kyran's relaxed pose stiffened at Yona's words. And here he thought he had made a connection with someone. Guess not. His eyes were cold and flat as Kyran looked up at Yona. The life, the spark that had been twinkling in them the whole time was gone. Yona was getting a glimpse of the other side of Kyran now. He got up slowly, every inch of him a lethal predator. There was a spark of gladness that he had lost his shirt. That way Yona could see the deadly ripple moving across his frame. There would be no mistaking just what she was dealing with. "Yona, Yona, Yona." Kyran said with forced levity. His weight didn't shift, his body still. His eyes were those of a killer locked upon his prey. "Didn't anyone ever teach you to not threaten demon riddled people? No? Well let me tell you why." Kyran's form blurred and suddenly he was snapping his teeth in front of her face. "We have to keep ourselves on a very tight leash. One little slip is all it takes..." He trailed off ominously. Kyran let the silence stretch out until the optimum moment. "The toll was a joke, my dear but now that you've made things personal, I will require that favor. At some point, in the future, when I call upon you for help, no matter where you are, what you are doing, you will come and help me. I will specify whether or not I am calling in the favor so you know." His teeth flashed in the dim light, a mirthless grin of a psychotic man. This was the side he never showed Ada, the side that appealed so greatly to the demons. They were nearly writhing with happiness. They thought he would punish her. "It's a shame really. I thought we could have been friends, Ms. Hisamori. You have quite the sense of humor and you are very intelligent. I would have enjoyed getting to know you." His sword flashed twice, slashing the vines and releasing Yona. Kyran didn't look back as he stepped through the break in reality.

Kyran strolled unhurriedly through the doors Stratus had opened. The chamber surprised him. The other parts of the temple were clean, scarily so. Here was what he had thought the rest would look like. A stone statue dominated the center of the room. At its feet lay a sarcophagus. Six more spread out in a semicircle around the statue. Skeletons in ancient armor lay all over the place. Kyran raised an eyebrow. That wasn't a good sign in the least. Something in here had to have killed them. The statue held a shield with six gems set into it. That must be Stratus' Aegis. For now, Kyran was comfortable to stay just inside the doorway and watch the entire room. That way if anything was triggered, he could spring into action without hesitation. So long as Yona didn't get in his way, Kyran found he couldn't care less what she did.

Post by Zincarla 28th March 2018, 3:53 pm

Yona let her weight just rest for a moment on the vines amused by his bold come back. She shook her head letting out a light chuckle. Her eyes lit up as she awaited his response to her own little 'deal'. And then, like a flipped switch, she saw his demeanor change. Yona's eyes followed along his torso and chest, noting his muscles tensing as his eyes darkened. Her brows knit together in that moment as he spoke in an eerie and cold tone, saying her name over and over. By the time that he moved on to inform her as to why she ought not to threaten demon people, Yona had surpassed confusion and had moved on to a mix of perspicacity and fear. Had she not just thought that they would make good friends, that she could trust her partner? Had she misunderstood or put her faith in the wrong person?

When his body blurred, reappearing in front of Yona and snapping his teeth, talking about restraining himself she frowned deeply. "What the hell are you talking about demons? On a tight leash? You're pulling my leg, aren't you?" She rolled her eyes, trying to slough it off. "Stop it cause you're kind of freaking me out. All right, you win, Key, okay?" He didn't seem to change, and when he gave his psychotic grin, saying that 'she would come help him where ever she was', Yona let out a slight sigh. It was unnerving and she couldn't figure out if he was joking or not. She couldn't figure out what she had done that would have made him go creepy, dark and cold. She couldn't figure out why he would continue a joke for so long that wasn't very funny either.

He called her funny, smart, and even went on to speak of how 'he was hoping that we could have been friends' then slashed the vines letting her fall as he walked away. Yona hadn't expected the sudden break down of the vines and barely had time to lower her hands to catch herself when she dropped onto all fours. She winced, her rib still cracked or broken, and her body still sore. "You can be a real jerk, you know that? My damn rib could be broken!" When she looked up, the nineteen year old noted he had walked to the doorway to watch Guy Stratus.

Guy Stratus ran inside the main tomb and stopped at the sarcophagus before an enormous statue. The statue was holding a large shield with a ruby, sapphire, emerald, pink tanzanite, sphene, and diamond studded inside. Along the walls of the room were six other coffins and all around were skeletal remains. Yona took note of them with an uneasiness in her gut, moving to stand. As Guy crazed and blazed on about the life of some king and his six Prism Knights, Yona entered the room, walking past Kyran with a feigned indifference. Of course, she cared, but this was not the time or place to handle it. She bent to look at one of the remains and spoke aloud, "Mr. Stratus, we ought to be cautious in here. With all the traps so far--" Her voice trailed off.

She wasn't really listening as Stratus talked about the Aegis giving knights power and ancient lacrima, but what she did see was Guy stepping on the foot of the statue. Immediately, the statue dropped the shield and Yona launched herself forward, ready herself to push Guy out of the way. She cried out as her ribs were jostled from the haste and all for nothing as the shield stopped in mid-fall. The rust on the shield suddenly slipped away and an intense bright light filled the room with red haze. Yona took a few steps back and put her hand on the floor, drawing out her Blade of Thorns. "We need to leave," Yona said as Guy Status' hand met with the shield. Stupid fascinated archaeologist, just had to touch the thing. He mumbled, "Can you guys hear that?" The skeletons began to stir, the ruby stone shot out of the Aegis into Guy's chest, and his body lifted into the air. Yona's eyes widened, all the actions happening to quickly to adequately respond to.

Kyran didn't look at Yona when she entered the room. He couldn't allow himself too. She was hurt, that was evident in her movements but he had a feeling his words had hurt her too. That was too damn bad. She should have thought about that before threatening him. He watched events unfold from the doorway. When Yona spoke up about leaving and being cautious, Kyran wholeheartedly agreed. They had run into too many traps for this not to be one. Stratus being pulled into the air by a glowing ruby light made Kyran take a step forward. What was going on? It looked like Yona would reach him first and he decided to cover her. They were partners until the end of this job anyway. He wouldn't let his partner down no matter how he felt about them.

The skeletons slowly rising from the floor took Kyran off guard. What the hell were these things? He fired two arrows at them in quick succession. They stuck in the armor and turned their attention on him. He wasn't allowed to fire again as the skeletons knocked Calamity from his hand. Not good. No armor and no real way to defend himself. Kyran ducked under one sword blow only to have another strike him across the back. His teeth grit against the pain. He refused to cry out. Ahriman scrabbled against the edges of his mind wanting to be released. It distracted Kyran enough for another sword to open a thin wound along his ribs.

"Enough!" Kyran roared grabbing a skeleton by the neck. His knees and hands rained down ferocious blows upon his opponent. Three more wounds were opened upon his back. The blood was beginning to coat his back in a steady sheen of red. Smoke began to pour from the mouth of the skeleton. Kyran didn't like the look of that. He ducked, rolling out of the circle of skeletons. The skeleton unleashed a stream of smoke just after he was out of the way. Kyran didn't like the feeling that gave him. Materializing a dagger from the wound in his side, Kyran brought the weapon down on top of the skeleton's head. The blood dagger turned to black dust afterward. Luckily the skeleton fell as well. One down.

Get in there, hostie. Show them what you're really made of. Let that bitch know exactly who she angered and what she could have gotten Medea had crawled into his mind while he had been distracted. He was panting, sweat and blood dripping off his body. There was no way to fight of the demons and the skeletons. Rolling across the floor earlier had really sapped his reserves. Or maybe it was the opening of his bleeding heart that had done that. She could have played with this magnificent body, all night long. Then had it again every night for a week. That slut didn't know what she was giving up Malinda purred her body slithering around Medea. Kyran could feel his body shifting through the changes. It wasn't painful just superficial...at the moment. There was no telling when they would strike.

Kyran backed away from the three skeletons bearing down on him. His attention was divided now. Fighting effectively would be close to none and these skeletons were clearly more dangerous than most of the opponents Kyran had previously faced. His back touched a cool wall and Kyran's eyes closed for a moment. This was where it all would end. He didn't expect Yona to help him. In fact, he wasn't sure if he really wanted her to. Maybe it was better to let it all finish. He smiled slowly against the screaming of the demons. To die, would be an awfully big adventure.
