To sum it up, quite naïve. Alfonse has spent almost the entirety of his life in the Neutral Grounds, barely getting to see anything of the world. Magic is still really new to him, as well as communicating with people that are used to seeing it. Alfonse was never the best at socializing with strangers, and being in a completely new world definitely doesn’t make it easier.
Alfonse is a very calm individual whose emotions often show in a rather toned-down version. He has a resting worry-face that quite accurately portrays his inner discomfort whenever he’s in a heavily crowded area, and him commonly worrying about basically everything. Though he’s definitely not the best at communication, Alfonse is far from an introvert. He can handle being alone, but he feels much better when there’s someone else with him.
He’s a very hard worker that will do anything he can to achieve his goals, though he tends to be quite chaotic and messy when working. His clumsiness also tends to work against him, causing a few accidents once in a while because his body sometimes seems to have a will of his own.
Honesty is very important to Alfonse, and he avoids lying up until there’s no other way to handle a situation. He’s also loyal and caring over those that he loves and cherishes, and will provide them with his assistance if required.
Due to him not being very familiar with how the world works outside of the Neutral Grounds, Alfonse is also a little gullible when it comes to any information regarding the unfamiliar territory. He would easily believe some idiotic story about (for example) Magnolia Town, simply because he has yet to have realized that the rest of Fiore isn’t as scary and odd as his family claims it to be.
Very much fitting to his type of magic, Alfonse is a little over-imaginative in a sense that he sometimes comes up with solutions that aren’t actually possible. These “solutions” often include the use of magic, as he still sees magic as limitless and capable of solving every issue.
It’s safe to say that Alfonse has barely any experience when it comes to fighting. Not only does he prefer to avoid fights in general, he also has not a single clue how to actually participate in one without losing. This is why Alfonse will most likely not be that useful in physical fights, instead possibly functioning as a support for buffs and shields. However, with sufficient training and gaining a bunch of experience, Alfonse will most likely be capable of putting up a good fight without the aid of others. His magic allows for great versatility, thus he could fill any role if needed. Well, any role except for the leader. He lacks the confidence and charisma to lead a group, and would much rather prefer to be told what to do. Alfonse’s chaotic and messy way of handling things is also not the most promising trait to have a leader, thus he’d rather not lead anything.
Likes:
> Dogs: Alfonse has always been a big fan of animals, but dogs are by far his favourite. Their playful and caring attitude combined with their adorable faces makes them irresistible for the young mage.
> Magic: Having been raised in the Neutral Grounds, Alfonse isn’t quite familiar with Ethernano and it’s way of functioning. He was taught to be very wary of magic, and to generally make an attempt avoiding it as it can be very dangerous. Upon discovering his own magical abilities, Alfonse grew an interest in learning how to use it, as well as wanting to see other types of magic. Though his way of being raised causes him to be slightly scared and cautious around magic, Alfonse has been actively trying to get rid of these negative feelings.
> Flowers: They have a relaxing and comforting function, and Alfonse just finds them really pretty.
> Books: Though not a massive bookworm, Alfonse definitely appreciates a good book.
> Music: Much like flowers, music has a very relaxing and comforting sense to it. Alfonse adores acoustic music and can actually play a little guitar.
Dislikes:
> Neutral Grounds: The place he spent the majority of his life, Alfonse is definitely familiar with the non-magical mega city. It was truly a nice place to live, but since learning about his magic Alfonse has felt restricted and uncomfortable inside the city.
> His mother: Alfonse doesn’t really know a lot about her, his only source of information being his family who prefers to not talk about her. Apparently, his mother used to be an active member of a dark guild, though had successfully kept her darker past hidden. Soon after giving birth to Alfonse, however, she vanished after the Rune Knights found out and attempted to arrest her. Though not knowing his mother at all, Alfonse severely dislikes her for not facing the punishment she deserves, as well as abandoning him and his father.
> Fire: An element only used to harm and destroy. Alfonse isn’t a massive fan of it.
> The dark: A childhood fear he has never completely gotten over. Though he’s no longer scared of the dark, he does often feel slightly uncomfortable when there’s not a single light source around him.
Motivations:
> Exploring: Alfonse has barely been outside of the Neutral Grounds, meaning that he hasn’t seen the majority of Fiore yet. He wishes that, through his recent actions, he’s capable of traveling around the mystical land of Fiore, and maybe even further than that.
> Questions: Though he feels nothing but hate towards his mother, he does wish to meet her one day to ask her a bunch of questions that have been left lingering in his mind. This, however, requires him to search for her as well as be strong enough to fend her off if necessary.
> Peace: Alfonse isn’t exactly the biggest fan of conflicts and fights. He thinks that, by actively using his magic for good, he might be able to contribute to peace on a greater scale.
Fears:
> Death: Knowing that life isn’t infinite is quite the scary thought, and is something that has prevented Alfonse from sleeping several times. Though he does fear for his own death, Alfonse is mainly concerned about the passing away of those he loves and cherishes.
> Spiders: Quite a common fear, even for animal lovers! Spiders have haunted his nightmares for as long as he can remember. Just seeing a spider freaks him out, regardless if it’s even dangerous or not. There’s just something about their creepy body that startles him quite easily.
> Inner Darkness: Considering one of his parents is rather.. evil, Alfonse is a little scared that he might follow in her footsteps for whatever reason.
