Noise. Too much of it. Sighing quietly and tucking a stray lock of hair behind her ear Chaelin pulled her handbag closer to her chest, not trusting herself to keep a hold of it safely among so many people. She had not even joined the line yet- if the masses of people scrambling for a passport in front of her could even be described in such an orderly term- and already people were shoving past her and pushing her to the side. Aware of how sensitive her skin was, she feared bruises were going to blossom across her porcelain flesh if the people around her were going to continue being so ruthless. Although she was taller than the majority of the crowd, this gave her no added confidence for she felt intimidated by the others aggressiveness and took a moment to summon up just the right amount of confidence, before persisting forward into the crowds.
Normally Chaelin would never have embarked upon such a noisy quest however she had her eyes on one thing. That one thing being a passport, just like everyone else surrounding her of course, however her motives were slightly different. She dreamed of setting about international jobs, all around Earthland, she felt confined here and wanted to reach her full potential as a growing mage; how was she supposed to reach such great altitudes in such a small portion of her playground? Having already found a guild to join, a passport was undoubtedly her next step.
She had been in line for around two hours now, although it felt like a lot more to the crimson eyed woman, her patience was withering away with each tick tock of her wristwatch. She was positively sure that many other mages in the same position as her followed through this quest with a bit more of a magical flair but Chaelin was more than happy executing her mission in a mundane, orderly way. Besides it was too early in the morning for the tired girl to be using her magic. Rocking back and forth on the balls of her feet she waited... and waited... and waited... and waited. Slowly, ever so slowly, the crowd started to deplete as many walked away proudly clutching passports of their own- a slightly less proud fate to those who were denied passports by the council. Soon enough the offices were in her sight and one by one the people in front of her took their turn and left. Then it was hers.

Never did the girl think that she would feel so relieved to be holding one small booklet of paper in her hands. As she walked away, her back now facing the remainder of the crowd, clutching her passport to her chest with one hand, sheepishly rubbing her bruised shoulders with the other. “Well, today has been very eventful for an uneventful day,” She murmured to herself whilst making her way back home, stopping for the first time today to look up at the sky and smile. How did she not notice its beautiful colours sooner?
