5-10 Dollar option: Pick Lineage

Basically that,

As custom lineages are available, and upon making them you're able to get them for $30, seems like as a scaled down variant, for 5-10 dollars being able to pick a pre-approved one from the lists would seem cost-effective, and I believe it would be more commonly used.

Good for income, good for the site, gives options, doesn't create power dynamic issues.

Shouldn't cost CC,  unless that was just an option if some wanted it,   but should cost around 300,000 jewels.

A non-custom lineage is comparable to an Artifact.   Perhaps 500,000 but that's getting extreme.

I agree with this. But I think it shouldn't cost CC period, the site is P2W enough as is imho.

Yeah, i noticed that the CC option is included in the ancient scroll, it allows you to pick a pre-existing lineage. But that's 30CC for a much lesser prize.

I feel getting something customed and added to the site should not be the same as just picking something already available.

Yes, the 30cc does allow you to choose a pre-existing lineages, however, that being said an ancient scroll allows you up to five unique abilities or to choose from five pre-existing or a mix of the two so it's worth the 30cc you pay for it.

Only if you take advantage of the full capability. Some individuals may only want 1 specific pre-made lineage; in which case the 30CC is largely wasted. Having an option that lets you choose a single pre-made would be better for those with simpler tastes. Me personally, I'd take "Truth" since that's closer to my character than my current one (but I do make my current one work).

Yeah, so, choosing you lineage i feel is not the same value as choosing 5 abilities. It may be worth like, 2-3 in equivelancy, but definitely not 5.

So it should likely be a lil less pricy / its own thing.

I'll try and play for the neutral card on this one... I think it's a good idea to allow people to buy their own pre-made lineage; but I think 500k is too cheap. This site functions almost exactly like an MMORPG, and because of that, it has a very delicate balance that'd be super easy to trip up. Eris said 500K was extreme, but from personal experience, it's easy to get 500k with all the jobs that award equipment.

1Mil would be a good Jewel price for it. By the time someone earns that much, they'd be around A Rank if not halfway to S Rank; and the high price would make it so everyone and their goldfish wouldn't be choosing the most OP lineages.

Yeah, an option that would take a little more effort from the staff, though i think it would be a good idea (perhaps take an hour or two) would be to tier the lineages, say 'I' through 'V'. Where changing to one would cost more. The issue i see with them is that with a random roll you risk a person with a character idea in mind rolling either really poor lineages and just having this permanent disadvantage, or, just rolling nothing that has any synchronization with their character at all. I was lucky with Caines Descendant. But i've seen a few people who weren't quite lucky.

Creating a Tier list would stop people from just picking the strongest lineages for a low ranking players. But also allow them some freedom of choice. And then Lineage scrolls could be their own thing aside from ancient scrolls.

Also, that way, when you create a lineage, you can pick what tier you're making it as, or, staff would tier it for you.

I think that would be a bit of a negative. Since the selection is RNG, having tiers would make some people feel cheated- especially if they pay for a reroll and get triple Tier 1's. That'd be like rolling a triple common drop on other games with RNG, the knowledge of knowing it's the lowest tier is enough to create salt.

The current system makes it so if you get a bad effect, it's just thought of as "Oh well, didn't get a good effect this time"

A 1mil price would make it so some degree of investment is required. Either to choose your own lineage, or a lineage for your next character.

As for getting a lineage that doesn't fit... I'm a ninja that works off of stealth, and rapid strikes to deal damage. My lineage lets me make every animal in the area attack, which is an extremely flamboyant move- it's pretty bad for stealth. I don't have any unique abilities devoted to making it work for me, but I use my own RP ability to find some form of compromise where permitted.

Yeah, I know a lot of people make what they have work, it was just an idea, ^_^

I got REALLY bad roles for both my chars.

I choose Shinigami protection for Advent before I got him his ancient scroll, it was the best out of a bad bunch but it kinda worked for him. I never used it nor have I used much out of my custom lineage to be fair. Ruvel got Victor's Decent which doesn't do him much good as he isn't a physical type. I got an ancient scroll as a birthday present from a friend but no clue as to what to do with it.

I agree, using tiers would just invite salt due to it being randomly generated, but I do disagree that the site is pay to win as with enough hard work anything can be bought from other players or shops. Paying real money only makes it a bit faster to achieve what you want.

I do somewhat understand your opinion, but I can't force myself to agree with it. For now, let's agree to disagree on this thread regarding that matter. If you'd like to talk about it more we can do that in PM's; but I tend to get a bit salty over that topic so I'm trying to return focus to the original thread topic. Otherwise I might end up having to remove myself entirely from it...



What's your opinion of being able to purchase Pre-made lineages (only 1, not entire sites) for 1mil Jewel? If you disagree, why? If you think the price would be too much; why do you think that, and what do you think would be a better price?

Heavens no,   it is not easy to acquire such jewels,   the economy of this site is run primarily off mostly donators and active high ranked members.     A new member seeing things like that would only feel like it's more benefits and options only available to the more or less elite of the site,  and that it's not something they may ever get to select.  

At 500kj it's a stretch but somewhat more attainable.    Any more than that and they may as well stay focused on getting the custom lineage eventually and not wasting such a heavy amount of jewels that is difficult to acquire.  


Obviously this doesn't effect me,   being both high ranked and a service provider,  but I don't make suggestions for myself,  I think about average members who would be impacted.    Sometimes I hold my tongue and don't make suggestions I think would improve the site because I can see how they might look self serving and distasteful coming from me.  Not to mention I already own a custom.   I'm rambling, anyway.


Selective Lineages should be something that targets roughly new and C-B rank members who would still likely require connections to some who may lend jewels or take a loan from a guild which also means it shouldn't be perceived as too much as it's a significant burden on those lending the jewels (Jewel lending is one of the primary means of a lot of members acquiring purchases),    any higher than that and they are more likely to have the time and investment,  and the will to reach higher for the Custom lineage instead.  


Selective Lineages are not an endgame thing,  Custom lineages are.    It might be easier for S-ranks to acquire 300-500k but it's still significant effort  (Hundred year jobs only reward around 150kj) but it's shouldn't target them.   
Needs to be a legitimate goal for lower ranked members to work towards,  as Lineages are big aspect of a lower ranked mage's character meanwhile the higher the rank the impact of a lineage diminishes.

That's understandable. In case anyone looks over this thread and wonders what jobs are best for getting free stuff, or a not-garbage reward; I included jobs below. I didn't delve into A Rank stuff because this list was made when I was C Rank.

If not a tier list, if some of the lineages 'are' just objectivelt a lot more powerful than others, then that is something that has to be addressed on its own merits rather than an issue with being able to pick a lineage for a lower price.

Or, perhaps there could just be several that are 'roll only,' if not a tier list, then perhaps just a small restricted section that is reserved for roll only or an ancient scroll. Just for some of the big contenders, but, from what i've seen the site isn't very PvP based, so, in a world where story beats out power, a lineage being a bit stronger than another means a little less than if this were a PvP based site where character death was around most corners unless you're careful.

A patch was announced not too long ago where the price for rerolling your lineage was lowered to 100,000. Alternatively you can buy whatever pre-made lineage you want for 500,000 jewel.

But if you re-roll do you 'have' to change? or can you just re-roll and be like: Nah, these are WAY worse. lol

To the best of my knowledge you can opt to keep your original lineage if you re-roll.

A patch was implemented yesterday

this patch makes you re-roll for 100k or to choose one of the ROLLED lineages for 500k

there ya go, done and dusted.

I wonder if it was cos of this...
