Mass Death on the Mountain (Sols A rank Exam)

It was a normal day on the peaks of mount hakobei with the constant blizzard blowing about but today something was out of the ordinary on this day as a regiment of rune knights that had survived the purge in era were on their way towards the Guild of Basilisk Fang to try and end the guild for good. However what they did not expect was for the ace of the guild to be always on guard for any threats or foolish do good mages. From the air above a dark winged shape was currently flying in the snow and wind and was high enough to see the large group of over 100 knights moving up the mountian before they stopped to set up camp and take shelter from the snowstorm. However Sol had no intent on letting them get anywhere near the mountian. Night was falling and the knights would not dare scale the mountain in the darkness of the night not when they knew the Basilisks roamed the peaks along with the Poison Shadow dragons own creatures of darkness from his castle.

The slayer knew many if his creatures lurked on the mountians from wargs to wendigos and all of them were voracious for human flesh, only if you had the mark of Basilisk fang would they stay their hands. Sol could only scoff as he landed down into some pine trees nearby and he assessed the danger of these knights. Even as a dragon slayer and a dragon he didn’t feel to at ease about taking on over one hundred knights in the frozen plains of Mount Hakobe . “I have to give these fools credit they sure are serious about taking us down, but sad to say its not that easy to enter the snakes den let along kill it” he chuckled before he glanced up higher on the mountain. The slayer knew that this area was well known for having avalanches and if he could manuver them into the right spot the dragon knew he would be able to easly cause an landslide and wipe out the foolish knights.

Since the men were cold and tired the ace knew they would not travel right now so he stretched out his wings and took back off into the sky to assess the route the men would take. Despite the constant blizzard and biting cold the slayer was not phased by it. The change from man to dragon had toughen the slayers skin and body against the frozen hell of the mountain. From a cursory glance the dragon could easily tell that the men would have to travel thru the pine forest and then thru the plains before they would reach the icy mountain side that would be their tomb of course that didn’t mean that the dragon would just let them go un impeded . He would pick off the soldiers one by one untill they got cautious and then he would kill them in one fell swoop.

The slayer stayed on the lookout for when the men would die down and go to sleep for the night and then he made his move to start thining the regiment of knights to make his job far more easier. The slayer dropped down into the trees and pulled his wings back into his body as he saw most of the knights start going to sleep and soon the group of 100 soldiers was mostly asleep with only 15 of them guarding the area and patrolling the tents and sleeping allies. Sol however was more then ready and was careful to find a week point in the patrol to sneek in and start killing. After about a half an hour one of the guards moved to the trees go to the bathroom. Sol then grinned viciously before he shot his chain Enkidu out and caught the guard around the throat before he then tugged hard and impaled the man on a tree branch thru the eyes causing the man to die without even uttering a single sound.

With one of the knights dead now the patrol had a hole in it and the slayer planned on capitalizing on that. After a few moments the hole that the death of a knight had opened came around and Sol then dashed into the tents while staying low to avoid suspicion and he dove into the mass of tents. After a moment of waiting the slayer didn’t see or hear any of the patrol moving towards him and he then started his bloody task. He moved towards one of the tents and he noticed that a few mages had put heat runes down around the area to keep the men from freezing to death and he grinned as he glanced into the tent before he saw the two mages inside sleeping soundly, the slayer quickly brought his arms forwards and tore their throats out in quick succession before they choked on their own blood. Sol quickly moved forward and took a bite out of their throats and their shoulders to make it look like an animal attack.

Sol then moved silently thru the camp and did the same thing to as many of the knights as he could before he suddenly heard an outcry when he had killed the twenty seventh knight and he relized the patrol nad decided to change members and one of them had seen the aftermath and alerted the others. Thankfully none of them went in the path of Sols escape and he managed to dive into the trees and he climbed up a tree and watched as the camp suddenly flew into a panic and became on high alert now that many people had been killed. However one of the high ranking knights looked into the darkness and saw the dragons red eyes in the upper tree before Sol unleashed an inhuman hiss which made the knights go even further into a panic and the slayer decided that it was enough for the night and he decided to rest and let them move a bit more before he struck again.

Despite Sols hope that the knights would drop their guard so he could kill more the rune knights were not that foolish and they upped the patrols and filled in the gap so that no beast or human could get in and kill once more, Sol sighed in the shadows and just waited in his position. He closed his eyes to rest as he waited for the sun to rise, not long in Sols mind the sun rose on top of the frozen mountain and the knights were now on the move once more. Sol watched as they moved into the pine forest and tried to stay alert for any threats that would approach them . However they didn’t know that the poison shadow dragon was still lurking above them and hungrily waiting for some of them to slip up so he could devour them and thin their ranks even more before he finished them off in one fell swoop. High up in the trees the dragon king could hear some of the higher rank mages talking about the last nights events.

“Sir the men are still fearful do we have any idea what attacked last night it looked like an animal?” one of the knights said as the leader shook his head. “Sad to say we don’t have an answer but im not so sure that it was a animal, remember evil lurks on this mountain and two coming storms lurk here it could be very likely that one of them has decided to ambush us” the leader said as the lower rank knight shuddered.” What kind of monster could kill so easy and devour his own kind.” he questioned before the leader could only sigh.” if it’s the one I fear then he isn’t human at all. The info we have is that the two coming storms in Basilisk fang are Famine and Sol Terumi and Sol is a dragonslayer and also known to devour opponents and innocents for the hell of it. If its him then its likely we need to move even faster” the leader said as Sol narrowed his eyes from above in the trees.

‘so they know more about me and Famine then I expected but that still doesn’t mean that im in any trouble I know the layout of this mountain better then any human and these knights don’t even know what to expect, by the time they even find me I’ll have their downfall already set up so take comfort while you can and get ever closer to your own foolish deaths” the dragon thought with glee as he pushed forward and went higher up into the trees as one of the knights glanced to where the slayer had been and they kept marching forwards thru the trees. Sol knew they wouldn’t get thru the forest untill tomorrow morning but until then the slayer decided to move on ahead and take some steps to thin the heard thru either accidents or the final set up to cause the landslide.

With the regiment of knights setting up camp now in the woods the poison shadow dragon now had time to set up some traps and the trigger that would cause the landslide. Knowing that he had little time Sol moved thru the trees and got quite a ways ahead of the camp and he then moved down onto the ground to start his plan, the shadow slayer took the darkness around him and formed insanely sharp serrated blades and started to saw and cut away at the bases of the trees on the path before the knights that the dragon knew that they would take the next day since any other route up the mountain was far to dangerous since the routes got narrow and many steep gorges were around the forest and beyond. The path they were currently on was the only way to possably up the mountain to safer paths but Sol was making sure to cause as much chaos as he could but cutting trees so that with little force they would break and then cause either knights to be crushed or make the path even harder to get thru.

After setting up about 20 trees the slayer could only snicker with glee at what he was about to do, he quickly moved back up into the trees and back towards the camp and he moved above the tents and the patrols being careful not to let his shadow be seen by the patrols and he then got across and he made sure that he was far enough away to not get spotted and shown to the patrol before he took a deep breath before Sol unleashed a inhuman and demonic sounding roar that caused the camp to erupt in panic as they dashed off towards the direction of the cut trees and Sol could only smirk as he went back up into the trees and followed them moving quickly and silently. When he caught up to the from and saw the trap coming up the slayer pushed forward and pushed off one of the cut trees as hard as he could and caused it to crack and fall.

As this happened the branches that were mixed with other trees caused the other cut trees to start falling as well and the frantic knights dashed forward to try and avoid not being completely crushed by the falling trees. After a quick few moments the trees had finished falling and sadly for the rune knights they lost 10 people and now they were unable to rest or stop since they had lost their tents and now they believed that something was hunting them. The leader of the knights could only growl at the loss that they had suffered.”now Im sure of it we are being hunted and watched and most likely from the moment we stepped foot on this mountain, but we have no choice but to push onwards we need to at least make a attempt to harm this guild for the good of Fiore” he said as Sol scoffed from above and could only shake his head at the mans foolish bravery .

The Regiment of knights continued to trek thru the pine forest all through the night with the slayer lurking in the shadows and following, however when it looked like they were almost to the end of the woods Sol pushed forward and got out of the wood with a sizeable lead on the knights and he unfurled his wings as he shot off in the air as he was slightly surprised to see that the endless blizzard seemed to had settled for the time being, with this in mind the slayer flew higher as he covered distance rapidly and soon he had made it to the beginning of the face of the mountain and where it became extremely steep and only one or two paths would be viable for a brigade to get up the mountain to the lair of the Basilisks . However as Sol landed on the snow he took a deep breath in and then expelled a mass amount of poison into the air and it slowly took the shape of himself with his wings out.”climb the mountain and find the best spot for an explosion to cause an avalanche, when you hear my roar then self detonate” he instructed his doppelganger who nodded and took off up the mountain with its wings.

While it climbed the troops kept moving advancing ever forward towards the dragon and the four leaders seemed to be leading the pack., they crossed the snowy plain at a very decent pace and after only a few hours Sol spotted the four leaders in the distance well before they spotted him, it didn’t take long before they saw him and they formed into rank and file lines as the four leaders move out to possibly speak with him, the poison shadow dragon had his back to them but they could hear him chuckling.”so it takes this long for some lingering Rune knights to make it this far, though I must say I am surprised that I find so many intruders on MY mountain” he questions not turning to face them at all. One of the leaders name Azelf stepped forward.”if you have been watching us the whole time then you know why we are here your Guild master Famine where is she?” he questioned before Sol only chuckled again.” I can show all you a much better time then my lovely wife but I know she has far better things to do that deal with some leftover trash.” he said as he turned and started to approach slowly as to not seem like a threat.

“I’m rather surprised at your spunk considering that you have lost almost half of your troops but then again who or what caused that I wonder” he mocked as the second leader named Shin stepped forward with a look of anger on his face.”It was you monster you killed so many and devoured parts of them as well, this is why no dark mage can ever be trusted or expected to behave like a reasonable sane person” Shin exclaimed as Sol Sighed and shrugged his shoulders.”could you really expect us to be normal or sane when you have dealt with the things we have, I lost my foster family and my birth family can’t stand my existence it was only in Basilisk fang did I find acceptance and comrades and of course my wife, its thanks to them I had found what I had been missing the ideals of Basilisk Fang and my goals gave my life meaning something none of you will ever understand “Sol explained before the rune knight leaders could only shake their head in sadness that this man would never turn to the light and would forever be stained in shadows. “well if you won’t tell us where your vile guild mistress is then we will go thru you and continue up the mountain till we reach the guild and then take it down” Shin said before Sol narrowed his eyes.”What makes you think you have the strength to take me down and never ever call my wife that she is better then any of you foolish rune knights with your laws and your supposed justice” he spat as Shin smirked seeing that he was getting under the mans skin.

“it’s the truth that you and your dumb blond of a guild master are monsters and also a thorn in the side of justice for years now but your far outnumbered and I highly doubt as skilled as you are that you could take down all of us and the remaining troops so just make it easy on yourself and surrender False King!” Shin exclaimed as the dragon kings eyes seemed to glow brightly with fury and his arms and legs started to become covered in scales and were tipped with deadly claws as he unfurled his wings from his back and bared his razor sharp teeth. “How Dare you say that to me you impudent humans I am Sol Terumi THE DRAGON KING and I will not bow to you or anyone else so get ready and make your choice turn back now or face death itself” he threatened as Shin and Azelf took a step forward.”we will take our chances and win against you dragon” they said as Sol growled and stretched his arms out.”You cannot pass!” he shouted at them before they broke into laughter at the foolish display the slayer was making to stop them. “We can and we will now move aside False King” Shin said. Sol snarled before he spoke again with a vicious tone to his voice. “YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” he roared at them before he unleashed a primal roar into the air and signaled the end that would come to pass on the mountain in a few moments.

What happened next sounded like a building exploding far away on the mountain and then it happened, the doppelganger that Sol had made had detonated itself at the worst spot for a avalance and caused a massive amount of snow to dislodge before picking up speed and mass as it suddenly came screaming down the mountain. The slayer could only smirk before with a flap of his wings he went air born and watched from a safe distance in the air as the tidal wave of snow rushed over all of the rune knights that were trying to escape before the snow swallowed them without mercy. Sol could only start snickering before he started to laugh softly before it got louder and louder untill he was laughing insanely. “YOU FOOLS YOU THOUGHT YOU COULD BEAT ME ON MY MOUNTAIN? WELL NOW YOUR DEAD AND BURIED| AHAHAHAHAHAHAH!” he cackled with glee as he slowly descended down onto the now still pile of snow and he found that the snow was rather hard as he could stand without much trouble and he grinned.”well now this is only to be expected since I knew of your little venture before you even stepped foot on my mountain, nothing happens in this country without me knowing about it you fools but I guess you can never tell anyone about it since your dead and very soon you will be my dinner as well” the slayer stated to now one in earshot since most of them were still under the snow and most likely were either crushed or suffocating on snow. Sol could only shake his head at the foolishness of do gooders like these knights, so focused in their pursuit of so called justice that it left them blind to any threats untill it was too late and now they had paid the ultimate price. The only upside it that they had died on his mountain and so their souls and memorys were his and he knew that Eris would greatly enjoy the number of souls that he would give her, perhaps she would give him some praise since he did think highly over her since she saw him as an ally and he had promised her in turn to be a staunch ally and would help if she ever needed his help. The slayer moved thru the aftermath of the avalanche and listened to the sounds around him to gauge in anyone was still alive, he felt a hand shoot of out the snow and grab his leg as a Paige emerged from the ground trying to stay alive before the poor soul felt Galas claws connect with his jaw and then completely rip it off and killed the man from shock alone.” I guess not all of them died instantly, oh well it just make it so much sweeter when I finish hear the final hear beat stop.” he muttered before he felt something off about this. Since he could hear heartbeats he could quickly hear most of them silence after a few moments but two of theme were staying strong and it made him grit his teeth in anger.

Sol blinked and looked around quickly trying to figure out where the two heart beats were out, he was not expecting for any of the  knights to survive the snow slide but even if they had survived  the dragon king was sure that he could take them down with little trouble, before he could come up with an idea of where they were suddenly in front of him  the snow suddenly erupted upwards and the two captains Shin and Azelf crawled out of the hole and looked around but not behind them and they were devastated at what they saw.”How? How could that monster have gotten the drop on us the only ones that survived was us?” shin exclaimed in outrage as Azelf could only nod. “I agree  but I think we may be in luck I think the Avalanche  took out our enemy as well so we can still keep going and take out the guild or at least Famine” he said before  the slayer behind them coughed and surprised them. “You two think I would die from such a thing then your even more foolish then I though and I look forward to ripping the flesh from your bone and devouring it” he cackled as the two suddenly turned and got into defensive stances. “you got lucky monster but now we will avenge our fallen comrades and kill you  and if you havent noticed there are two of us and only one of you” Shin said arrogantly

Sol only scoffed.”That which is Eternal cannot die but if you really think you can handle me then come and prove if pitiful humans”  he declared which the two leaders took very seriously as both of then suddenly gained magical circles in front of them, they then revealed just how powerful they were as Shin sent out a increadable torrent of fire as Azelf released a powerful jet of wind causing the fire to become hotter and the jet increased in size. The slayer blinked in surprise and he suddenly shifted to shadows using shadow drive and then his shadow form to avoid becoming nothing but a pile of Cinders and he suddenly shot forward using the massive blast of fire as a means of cover and then reformed behind the two  with his poison drive triggered and the slayer quickly struck both of them with such force he sent them both 10 meters away from each other and he growled with his fangs bared.”alright if your going to be serious that so can I and I promise you that you will beg for death before the end” he roared as he turned to the left and  dashed towards Azelf, the knight was suffering due to the death plague toxin now in his body and it showed as he suddenly vomited up blood and he started to bleed from the mouth as well as the nose and ears from his cells breaking down. As Sol approached the knight suddenly surprised the slayer but forming sharp blades around his hands and managed to give the slayer two nasty slashes across his chest.”Bastard now die and stay dead” he snarled as he  managed to deliver   three devastating punches  to the mans chest before his Poison drive suddenly dropped from the damage delivered to the slayer

Azelf released a scream of pain as his body started to break down even further from the poison in his blood stream, he didn’t even have the strength to bring up his arms or legs to cast another spell as blood poured from his mouth and every other orifice like a flood.”please kill me I can’t take anymore of this pain” the knight whispered as he was in extreme pain and his body was feeling like it was on fire from the poison in his blood stream. "Very well  know that your grave lies on the dragon kings mountain” he said before he extended his fangs and revealed two more sets behind the first and the dragon  suddenly moved forward and bit into the knight twice in the chest and with the first bite went right thru the mans flesh and bones and with the second bite he took a huge bite out of the mans heart and Azelf went glassy eyed as his soul left his body and he finally breathed no more. As Sol wiped his mouth off with his scaled forearm  he suddenly heard a cry from the other knight he had almost forgotten about.”AZELF NO YOU MONSTER!!!!!!!!!” Shin shouted as he managed to stand up despite puking blood and having it ooze out of his body from any opening just like it had with Azelf. However the fire mage had madness in his eyes as he saw the gaping hole in  his friend and the dripping blood on Sols face as the man retracted the extra sets of teeth  and he  licked his lips.”Hmm A positive and the taste of tea in his blood  he seemed to enjoy Darjeeling tea didn’t he?” Sol mocked as Shin could only breath heavy as he prepaired to cast another spell at the evil dragon before him.

Knowing that his opponenet was already angery and on the brink of insanity Sol pushed the man further.”come on Council dog the object of your vengence is before you strike him down come on do it TRY AND KILL ME!” he called out to the man as Shin suddenly brought his arms up and fired out a 5meter radius fireball at the slayer who in a surprising move suddenly dashed forward at the man to attack him, while he moved he formed his defensive measure with a coating of poison on his body but as the fireball struck his body it burned right thru the coating and delivered massive 2nd degree burns to the slayer but other then that the slayer still had his hair and his clothing was singed pretty badly. As the slayer got thru the fire he ended up right in front of the knight and Shin smirked as he drew a knife.” how do you like that monster” he asked as Sol hissed loudly in pain from his wounds but then he smirked “not bad but your gonna get worse” he said before with some trouble he brought up his arms and caused two magic circles to appear around Shin and suddenly two fang shaped spears shot out of them and impaled the knight in the sides before Sol then called forth Enkidu from his tattoos and  he took the sharp end before he  stabbed the man 4 times in the stomach in quick succession”now you can meet the reaper or shall I call her Eris and when you meet her tell her that Sol sent you to her” he whispered to the dyeing man before Shin dropped his head and he felt the life leave his body.

Sol smirked at his kill before he  fell backwards and was careful to not  damage his wings as he allowed the cold snow to ease his burns as they started to heal rapidly due to his contract with Eris, the dragon king may have succeeded in killing the regiment but he was still exhausted and he was heavily damaged not enough to kill him but enough to make him need some bed rest to get up to one hundred percent again.”God I hope  Famine is up for treating me and help me out, Im gonna need  some Rest and Relaxation after this that’s for sure” he chuckled as he slowly  managed to stand  up and he flexed his wings and he observed the scene around  him. Sol was honestly rather proud of himself, Sol had proven to himself and soon to Famine as well that he was a one man army and was more then able to take out legions of enemys if he needed to and he would only become more deadly as he mastered his power as the dragon king.

With a flap of his wings the slayer was in the air and he grinned as the storm clouds formed once again around the plains and within moments a blizzard had descended back on the mountain once again and the dead bodys of the knights were being covered in snow at a rapid pace. Sol simply turned and flapped his wings and took off back towards his castle and hoped that his wife was still awake  or at the very least get one of his servents to patch him up and make him  breakfast
