Darius arrived at the gorgeous Wakusei Portals, marvelling at how beautiful and colourful they were. These floating islands were a gorgeous sight, not only were the portals symbols of a new life, freedom, and a chance to start anew on another world, but the islands that these portals lay on were teeming with flora and fauna. The swordsman knew he had to focus; he had a job to do.
"Admire the pretty scenery later, Al-Sayyid, you got a job to do...find a damn flower." The swordsman scratched his head. He knew that working for the WFTC allowed him to accept jobs that he wouldn't be able to as a mercenary, but botany wasn't exactly where he was thinking his career would be headed.
The Requip mage continued to walk, exploring the serene forest before he came across a lovely creature. It was adorable, a small plant-like creature holding a flower necklace and simply drifting around peacefully. The mage walked up to the being, undeniably allured by its adorableness.
"Wow, look at you, adorable little thing, aren't you." Darius stroked the small creature, and it nuzzled in response. A smile formed upon the young mage's lips, chuckling at how innocent and childish the creature was.
Then it did something not so childish.
It giggled happily as it drifted past Darius, letting the flower necklace it was holding ring around his neck, and it began to fly up. Astounded, the mage tried to tell the being what it was doing, "Hey...pal, you're kind of choking me out...please...stop."
However, the creature simply started to sing happily, as if it was completely fine with killing the mercenary. Darius attempted to reason with it further, but it fell on deaf ears as it began to sing louder, causing the requip mage to materialise his daggers from his hands and stab the beast. A helpless, childlike cry emanated from the beast's mouth as it was stabbed, Darius plopped back into the ground, coughing repeatedly and saying, "What the FUCK?"
The mercenary rubbed his neck area, still feeling what was basically an attempted hanging on his neck, muttering, "Of course when something cute comes up to me, it tries to fucking kill me. Go figure."
Darius continued to walk, daggers in hand, then seeing another adorable looking critter. This time, it was a fox, except its ears and tail seemed to be plant-like in structure. It made a little purr that would make one's heart flutter. The creature was also adorable, much like the strange flower necklace creature that tried to hang Darius earlier. The swordsman, wiser to the act, decided to avoid the cute and cuddly creature as to not anger it and cause it to try to kill him as well. However, even when passively trying to leave the creature alone, it retaliated by causing its leafy ears and tail to extend forward, aimed at immobilising Darius by latching onto his hands and neck.
"Fucking...AGAIN?!" Darius shouted, being choked out once more.
The requip mage, managed to cut his restraints with his dagger, before going up to the small, adorable creature, and repeatedly stabbing it to death. The thing whined and let out a heartbreaking cry for help before it died, but at this point, Darius was just pissed.
"Seven hells, am I the bad guy here?" He asked himself, before continuing on his search to find the flower.
As he continued to search, he encountered yet another flower-necklace creature that was giggling happily. The adorable creature was casually floating towards Darius, but he knew what the intent behind this cute little monster was. So, he punched it. He punched it in the fucking face. The monster flew backwards, letting out a cry from the injury it had sustained so Darius cut the damn thing in half, and continued walking.
This entire mission has ruined the swordsman's mood, he desired to just find the stupid flower, and head back to Divide Island. But, as the little critter that he had just killed let out a cry before it was mercilessly killed, two more plant-fox things appeared, launching its tail and ear leaves and extending it, aiming to restrain and suffocate Darius, but the swordsman combat rolled forward. He threw one dagger at a monster, and another on the second one. The mage lunged at one, and stabbed it again for good measure, killing it. The other fox-like beast was maimed, and couldn't move since its small frame had a dagger stuck through it. The mercenary sighed before walking over, and twisting the dagger that was stuck inside it, killing it as well.
After walking for what felt like hours, Darius had managed to reach an open field near the portal, a beautiful, glowing, purple flower around 50 meters away from the mage. He sighed in relief, walking towards it, ready to extract it, before a huge flower seemed to charge at the swordsman. Darius dived to the side, narrowly dodging the large thing and glaring at it, bewildered at the fact he was getting assaulted by a damn flower.
"That's it, I hate this place. Abso-fucking-lutely hate this place." He huffed.
Darius switched out his daggers for his enchanted saber, and lunged at the flower monster, but suddenly felt something wrap around his wrist. He turned his head to see the source of these plants, and saw another fox.
"I'm sick and tired of you fuckers." Darius groaned, before slicing up the plant restraints from his hand, then rushing at the small monster and slicing it in half.
However, as the mage finished off the fox, the large flower monster began to charge at Darius once more, and he responded in kind by slashing at the air, sending a wave of magical energy at the beast. It flinched at the attack, a few petals due to its injury. Darius then leapt at the beast, sending a flurry of strikes onto the plant-based creature, ultimately ending its life.
Exhausted, and more than a little annoyed, Darius walked up to the flower and ripped it from its stem, ready to bring it back to his client and leave this godforsaken floating island.
