Furs for the Freezing (solo Job for Kaisto and Bastet)

It was freezing, why in the wold did they have to come here again? oh yeah thats right, well Frostfire has put up a job for someone to actually help them get fur to have everyone stay warm with, thats what Kaisto and Bastet were traveling there for, though the trip through Sevem was just beautiful, its lush enviroment even made Bastet relax when they traveled there though the scene in the village was a bit more....different, they looked back and forward as the people eyed them for being well there, what was up with these people?

Kaisto shook his head and then nudged Bastet with his arm and then pointed to the larger hut and they walked in as Kaisto held in her hand was the job request, when finally in Kaisto and Bastet was greeted by the Elder who sat beside the fire "What brings you two, to our village in our dire times strangers?" he asked crossing her arms as he didnt trust them at all that was until her expression changed as Kaisto said "Ma'am, we have take your job for us to actually hunt your animals in the barren snow to be able to bring you back furs to supply those for all needing it" The Elder stood up and her expression...softened, "Thank you...our village has been on rough time, in the forest you will find Rabbits to Foxes but i will say if you are hunting beware of the Bears, and more importantly beware of Hyvulcans, they are dangerous in our forests and not to be taken lightly, but here, take these bear coats to help keep you warm...but also finish the creatures quickly death should be painless" Hearing all of this Kaisto and Bastet dawned on the Bear robes and instantly felt warm, they walked out of the hut and saw everyone staring at them, they knew that they were going to help them now and they soon set off into the wilderness to get these pelts for the village.

Being with the type of gear he had was sorta......at a very bad disadvantage, Kaisto had a sword but it was a gun too, guns usually ruined pelts and he had nothing to really replace, Bastet though, heh she was part cat, this was like second nature to her but luckily Kaisto had a backup plan. Seeing a local well hunter there in the village he asked her to borrow her bow for this hunt, she refused, BUT she did give him another bow she had, the bow she used mostly was well hers and she never let anyone else use it at all.

Grateful for the help he even paid her some jewel for the trouble, soon him and Bastet walked out of the village with their warm bear pelts on, 10 minutes out they spotted a white rabbit coming out of its hole in the ground, such a shame that a small creature had to die, but this village needed it for them, Drawing the bow Kaisto breathed a quick breath as he then released the arrow from the bow as it traveled quickly and swiftly cleanly in and out of the rabbit, killing it quickly and painlessly, he sighed as he walked over to clam the rabbit by placing it in a a burlap bag he had on him, he also reclaimed the used arrow so he coul re use them.

Though the blood on the ground was a bit of a bad tiding for quite a bit of foxes at least 6 that they could see, so the blood of the rabbit brought them out for a feast they thought they might have had, well no matter, this time Kaisto drew out his sword and Bastet looked ready to attack as she hissed at them they were getting surrounded by them but he its nature, and nature was about ready to learn why humans and well in Bastets case, Nekos, were at the top of the food chain.

Kaisto and Bastet were going up against some foxes that wanted that dead rabbit in that bag, Bastet huffed as she growled at the foxes, and then two of them attacked the duo, one for each, as the two enage the foxes.

Bastet and one of the foxes started scratching and clawing at each other, cat vs fox, what can i say, as they kept fighting, the fox bit on Bastet's arm but Bastet landed a killing blow to the neck of the fox using her fangs that she had since you know part cat goddess, she then tossed the body to the side getting ready for if the other foxes started to try and come after them.

Kaisto was still dealing with one of the foxes himself, it kept getting around him and his sword, it made him a bit irritated but he couldnt shoot it hell that would ruin the pelt, but the fox made a mistake, it lunged at Kaisto and it was his chance as he then thrusted his sword up and stabbed it through and through killing the fox instantly, as it slid off the blade of his sword the other foxes growled as they glared at the two mages, dear god why couldnt they catch a break right now, but Bastet thought of something....usually foxes dont attack humans why attack them now? then she had a realization, the bear pelts they were wearing made them look like bears now humans, it was a battle over food to survive not steal.

Two more Foxes soon just rushed at the two mages it almost worked but Bastet and Kaisto were ready quickly and easily the mages dispatched the foxes as Kaisto shanked his sword clean through its side and Bastet caught the other mid air as it lunged and then snapped its neck, the mages were making quck work of the foxes but the last two caught them by surprise as they ended up attacking from behind one biting Kaistos hamstring and the other biting Bastets left shoulder.

This tatic was smart for the foxes and was actually very ingenius for Foxes, it caused Kaisto to buckle to a knee while Bastet was wrestling with the fox that was attacking her shoulder the fox then looked to lunge at Kaisto face but as it did Kaisto grabbed it as her fell backwards onto the snow as it snipped and snapped at the young mages face he did his best to stop the fox, but looking to his side he couldnt get his sword, only arrows...well it would have to do, he reached and grabbed an arrow and jammed it straight into the throat of the fox, with such force that it snapped its vertebre, shoving the fox to the side he looked over to see Bastet still struggling with the fox on her shoulder as it kept hold of her but she did claw it good, he couldnt shoot the fox but in stead grabbed the bow and took a breath as he drew back an arrow and fired it, it had to be a one in a million shot as it plunged itself into the chest and straight into the heart of the fox as it released its gripp and fell to the snow.

Kaisto and Bastet were panting heavily  as then both just fell into the snow, who knew foxes would be so tough, "*pants* stupid...foxes...i can see...why they...are revered for cunning..." "*pants* Y-Yeah...let's just...collect the pelts....we have quite a bit more to go..." Nodding to each other they both grabbed the fox bodies, 6 in total and stuffed them in the burlap sack, along with the rabbit in there, they had 7 pelts...only 23 more to go

for the most part after the fox battle they had to pick up the pace that way they didnt stay out in the cold...at dark...with all these wonderful creatures around them...yeeeeah just real nice to be there right now with bite and claw marks on them.

After that fox battle they trudged one coming accross a burrow of 3 rabbits, using Bastets skills they quickly got and killed them gaining three more pelts along with their 7 already, hey 33% of the way of those 30 pelts the elder needed from them. Further on into the forest the duo found more foxes and damn it this time they WEREN'T gonna get surrounded by them so quickly scurring up in a tree the two sat...and if a hunter came by he could say he saw two bears hunting some foxes...litterally.

but all joking aside, Kaisto had to make his marksman ship skills count and get as many as they could out of this larger group then what most would be, he counted at least 9 to 15 foxes, but he made sure one thing to check to see if there were pups or pregnant foxes, that was a no-no in their book, and that ruled out about 6 leaving 3-9 foxes he needed to shoot, taking his time it was almost like a sniper but his style of shot was quick and effective even for a gun blade, he worked his style and took out the 9 leaving the pregnant and pup foxes and they climbed down and claimed the furs, cleany executed and precise, butKaisto was puzzled it was 9 foxes and there was 6 left but he swore he saw more, that meant that their pack was bigger then what he expected this was just a fraction of them and in a way made him a bit happy, at least the pups and the pregnant ones would still be cared for. But Bastet was chuckling rolling her eyes but then something caught her attention, with their 19 pelts in tow she looked down and saw them "Kai...Bear tracks leading further into the forest" Kaisto blinked, crap, a bear?! That would be hard to transfer back to the village, but furs and meat from a bear could sustain this village for a little, turning a nodding he then said "Well...its time to go get a bear for that village" smirking at his enthusiasm the goddess nodded standing up and they trudged on eventually...find the bears cave.

Entering the cave Kaisto and Bastet were on edge already, they left their furs unde some leaves outside so they wouldnt be weighed down to move freely. Looking around they could see bones of the deers and other animals that this bear had killed and eaten in its time, looked to be a lot from the amount of bones laying around the cave.

Into the cave they went as the cave was a bit more warmer so they were roasting in the cave "Dear gods.....its like a million degrees in this damn cave" Bastet complained as they trudged in, she and Kaisto looked around seeing the scrapes and claw marks on the wall, what the hell does this bear do for a living just kill and kill??

By the time they made it to the center of the cave, and by center, they meant the biggest opening of the cave, they saw it there, a big brown bear, but this bear had been through much in its life, scars along its flanks, even an eye that was blinded white it was a veteran of many fights, thats something that was bad, if it lived through that much then they would have a battle on their hands in this cave and hopefully they wont wake it up where it was sleeping now in the sun coming from the roof were it was keeping itself warm in the cave from the snow from the outside along with the cold wind, smart bear, shows how long its lived.

Sneaking along the two made their way towards some rocks, Kaisto had a plan, Bastet would actually disctract the bear and weaken it down so that way it can be taken down very easily after it being weakened.

Moving on up Kaisto got to the perch as he gave Bastet the signal to start, With that Bastet then started clapping and hollering to wake the bear up "WAKE UP YOU BROWN FURRED LUMOX! BET YOU CAN'T CATCH THIS KITTY EVEN IF YOU TRIED" this of course made Kaisto sweat drop, he knew she had her personality but this was taking the cake by far. Waking the bear up, it roared a deep grizzly roar as it started up chasing Bastet around Kaisto watched as Bastet pulled out her light swords as she fended off the bear quite well even getting in some good qick slashes in as it had attacked her but nothing but superfiicial cuts, nothing to much.

That was until the bear started firing icicles! Basic ice magic! this of course started making things more bad since the bear could use magic! "IT KNOWS ICE MAGIC!?"IT KNOWS ICE MAGIC?! they both screamed in tandum as Kaisto had to work now as he started firing arrow ater arrow, getting at least 5 arrows off but only 3 stuck into the back of the bear. this wasnt working this bear wasnt going down and this bear was getting more and more agitated as it chased Bastet more feverishly then ever as it attempted to do her more bodily harm then whatever a fox could do that was for sure.

It seemed like a circus show, Bastet was being ran around the cave with a bear on her heels wanting to chew her like a piece of freshly caught salmon from the stream except that Bastet wasnt a fish and she had really no intention of being chewed on or scratched up like a post board by this fluffy giant, thats what was mainly on her mind...besides her screaming to Kaisto "KAISTO!!! SHOOT THE DAMN BEAR NOW!!" everytime the bear swiped at her she had to grab the back end of the bear coat that the woman elder gave them back in the village.

Hearing the screams of his Companion Kaisto nodded and awaited the two to pass under him, then throwing caution to the wind Kaisto with sword on his back jumped down on top of the half ton animal grabbing on its fur as he grunted holding on toghtly as possible trying to actually get a mounted position on its back that way he could get a better vantage point from where he was. After struggling up on the back of the bear Kaisto soon got to his spot and grabbed his sword, he had one chance if it screwed up then he was stuck there. Kaisto drew his sword and then plunged it deeply into the neck base of the bear, it immediately drew back up and roared on its hindlegs, "Just die quickly already!!" he yelled as he slid the sword more going clean through the front of the bears neck severing its spinal cord as it went limp and fell forward, the force threw kaisto off its back and to the ground, Bastet came over to him and helped him up as he dusted himself up, holy hell they actually snagged a bear, counting it up they now had a bunch of pelts but they needed to get a few more now, Kaisto looked around and then sprinted out to actually grab the bag of dead rabbits and foxes and brought it in, and using his wind magic he then lifted rocks to encase the furs in a rock tomb that kept them safe "There lets go get some more pelts and then get the furs back to these villagers, they deserve it" Bastet nodded to him as they left the cave to look for more animals to get pelts from.

Making their way through the forest, the duo sighed, they didnt see any other animals round and this was not a good sign, they didnt kill all the animals in the forest thats damn near impossible, but this made thing suspcious Kaisto looked around and still saw nothing like only the wind was the thing around them.

KAisto...we've known each other for a while...so when i say this listen well....THIS IS CREEPING ME OUT TO MUCH ITS LIKE A CEMENTARY DEAD IN THIS FOREST!" the goddess exclaimed towards the dragon slayer as he blinked after she stopped which made him sweat drop but she was right with the assessment, this was creepy and for the first time since entering the forest Kaisto felt an air of uneasyness around him...heh air...sorry dragon pun.

Kaisto looked around as their feet trudged in the snow, that was untill they saw huge foot prints, this was...well huge, they had a certain familiarity to it and thats when it hit Kaisto back to when he did his job with Astrid and Lucius "Vulcans...? in this forest? I dont see how its possible but the foot prints look like they are Vulcan made, basically like a giant monkey print...dang and i thought this job would be a piece of cake after a while"

Bastet blinked and looked at the paws in the snow and looked at Kaisto and just...she slapped him, but in that way if others saw it it would be humerous, she then said "So in this forest...are you telling me some big hairy ass ape is here living and possibly thats why the forest is dead cause its scared or killed things to make it like this...? I swear to the gods above this world never ceases to amaze me about things like this Kaisto...wait didnt Shizuka face-" She was cut off as a gigantic roar errupted from teh forest, it was so loud it shook the snow off teh branches above the duo and covered them in snow "something...like that with Astrid... she couldnt help but sigh, today was becomeing not a good day at all.
