A heavy breath escaping the Fire King's pale lips, his leather bound hands shuffled across the paperwork littered on his desk. As the sky grew darker and the sun began to set, the threat began to grow. Recently he had uncovered the resurgence on an old Midi enemy; The Oni. Mythical demons, ogres, and specters from the depths of darkness. Most thought they were just Midian legend. Even in this magical world, some things were just better left to the history books, and sometimes not even them. The Oni were progressively burning their way across the Midi countryside, targeting the original four clans. The fire clan being scattered, was far too elusive. Unfortunately for Ardere, he was a prime target, a beacon lit far too brightly for the Oni to ignore. The samurai had received word from one of his contacts that one single legion of creatures set their sights on Terra Ignis and Infinity Hydra. They did not have much time until that legion arrive. Fortunately, the fire mage was prepared.
Staring out his window, he could sense the looming demonic presence. Fortunately he had Wolfe in the grand city of Terra Ignis to evacuate and protect its people. Kite, his guild master friend was placed along the edge of the forest, sent to meet the Oni in the dark of the brush, preventing their reinforcements from gaining access to the city and the guild. The plan was solid, but that did not mean it was foolproof--nothing ever is.
Sheathing Clarent, the crimson blade, Ardere adjusted his leather armor. Removing his white cloak, the samurai chose to adorn only his red and gold trimmed armor. Keeping his sword close, he removed the headband from his hair, using it to tie up his locks into a rather large pony tail. Taking another deep breath, he made his way downstairs. Very few guild members remained in the hall, but they were chosen to protect it while the others were on their own missions. They were not required to fight. All of them were here by choice, and that was all he could ask for.
Addressing his members, Ardere's red eyes focused on them. Alright guys. I know this is a lot to ask for, but these demons aren't going to stop until we're dead. I feel responsible here, so I will defeat them swiftly if possible....but I cannot do it alone. Protect this guild hall. And tomorrow, we can return to our normal lives. Let's do this. Unsheathing his sword, sparks began to spray across the floor. Twirling his blade, gargantuan figures began to burst through the walls. The Oni had arrived in a group of six, all brandishing their weapons. Growling and drooling, it was apparent these were lower class brutes, but they were huge. Standing at nearly ten feet tall, the beasts were an array of red and blue, some with horns and some with three eyes. But all stood like a monolith, carrying a blunt weapon, their piercing yellow eyes with the intent to kill.
Igniting his blade, the fire mage's sword was bathed in black flames. Side stepping the attack by an Oni, the wooden floor was shattered with sheer brute force. Chunks of cement and wood scattered across the room, in a very intimidating manner. Sadly for the Oni, he underestimated his opponent. Within a split second, the samurai slashed open his opponent with his powerful flaming blade, black blood splattering across the walls. So it begins. Stick together hydras! He called out, black blood splatters across his armor. Clutching Clarent tightly, he could not shake a feeling of dread.
