Magic
Primary Magic: Southern Hummingbird Magic
Secondary Magic: TBA
Caster or Holder: Holder.
Description: Southern Hummingbird Magic inherits it's name from the god Huitzilopochtli and was allegedly taught to mankind by the ancient jungle divinities. Unlike the newer, kinder forms of magic Southern Hummingbird spells require blood sacrifice from either the caster , a willing volunteer or an unwitting victim. Only the feathered serpent Quetzalcoatl offered his healing magic to humans bereft of blood cost, requiring only flower petals as tribute. Supposedly these offerings contribute to the gods bloody war with the undead goddess Coyolxauhqui - Silver Bells and her 400 siblings who wait arrayed in the darkness of space ready to devour the sun. In more modern times it has been used by the dwellers of the Jungle to ward off invasions from the realm of Xibalba - an antediluvian underworld teeming with demons. Due to the diverse natures of the deities teachings Southern Hummingbird Magic draws upon it is a diverse school but each spell requires sacrifice not met by the simple expenditure of magic energy.
Strengths:
Diverse - As the spells of the Southern Hummingbird School draw upon the teachings of multiple divinities the school offers a broad array of practical applications. This can range from summoning beasts of shadow from Mictlan (One of the underworlds) to cursing an opponent with all sorts of debilitating maladies and even enhancing ones own powers through the use of totemic rites.
Legitimately Nasty - Even the 'good' gods of the jungle are a vicious bunch and so their spells tend to be particularly cruel. Spells will rarely just do simple damage but also attempt to maim, cripple, curse or humiliate a target. Such effects can often horrify onlookers but such is the burden to bear of the adepts of Tenochtitlan.
Weaknesses:
Blood Price - As written above all hummingbird magic save for the healing spells of the feathered serpent require sacrifice in blood. Depending on the Level of the spell cast the caster must either inflict damage to themselves (starting at 5 HP and increasing by 5hp per spell rank) or deal damage to their opponent resulting in bleeding before the magic takes effect.
Calendar Bound - The magic of the jungle is tied to the great arcane system of the divine calendar. Aside from acting as a divinatory tool this great construct also regulates magic and it's strength. Adepts of Southern Hummingbird magic can gauge how this will affect their spells and the best time to do so. Conversely if one castes spells in an unfavourable time their power is lessened. In practice this means that any Southern Hummingbird spell cast before the 6th post of a thread has it's range effectively halved as conditions are not yet favourable.
Incite disgust - Macabre magic may instil fear but does very little to win a favourable opinion of the caster. Depending on an onlookers moral compass they might even turn on the caster in fear.
Lineage:
Caine's Descent:
Smoking Mirror – Unlike regular bearers of Cain's Descent Ixchel draws her power not from the first murder and his demon but from her descent from Tezcatlipoca the god of war and black magic. This means that instead of going completley berserk Ixchel can retain her mind allowing her to cast spells during her transformed state and not strike at allies. However upon exiting this form Ixchel instead takes 10 damage per her rank as a blood sacrifice to her ancestor deity (Capping at 60 damage at SS rank).
Wings – During blood rage mode Ixchel bears obsidian wings allowing her to fly. The speed of this flight is an extra 25% to her fastest ground based speed.

Lineage:
Caine's Descent:
- Caines Descent:
- Description: Long ago there were two brothers who were loved by the gods their name was Abel and Caine. Everything was alright since both were content with what they had, a demon jealous of the affection these two mortals receive from deities decided to meddle with their lives. It decided to create a rift between the brothers love. The rift cause rivalry between both brothers and with the aide of the demon, Caine won and accidentally killed his brother in the process. The gods learned what Caine and the demon had done so they cursed them both. The demon Shamashu and Caine were to share the same body, giving Caine longevity in exchange for the thirst for blood, and the demon only allowed to roam free only once Caine is feeds upon blood.
Ability: Gives the user the ability Bloodrage an ability that transforms the user into a demon with tremendous strength (+100% strength boost +25% damage resistance) and the ability to heal serious wounds rapidly upon consumption of blood (Heal user-ranked damage when consuming blood/flesh). Bite attacks for example would heal you per bite attack (if you hit/draw blood)). Their own blood can trigger bloodrage but will not heal them, instead triggering a 2% HP heal.
During this state, the user becomes insane, and will attack anything they see.
Passively when not or when in bloodrage, the user can smell blood from 50 meters +25/per rank beyond D. If the blood is exposed, doubles the range. Huge quantities of blood can increase the range dramatically for IC-RP benefit (Such as smelling a slaughtered village from miles away).
Usage: Once per thread the caster can use Bloodrage. Bloodrage starts upon consumption of blood and lasts for 5 posts. Can’t cast spells while in demon mode. Passive bloodscent.

Spells:
- Spells:
- Name: Shriek of Camazotz
Rank: D
Type: Air, Sound , Offensive
Duration: 3 Post.
Cooldown: 6 Posts
Description: Occasionally the dreaded bat-demons of the ancient hell Xibalba will make their way into Mictlan, the more modern underworld. There Mictlantecuhtli god of death will rend the creatures apart with his bony talons. To aspiring sorcerers he grants the power inherent in these night fliers vocal cords – a cutting shriek. When preforming this spell the caster cuts themselves and with the offering of blood Sends forth a lacerating blade of sound. This blade is an inch thick and three meters in length. It travels at a speed of 30 meters per second and has a max range of 40 meters dealing 20 damage. The Shriek of Camazotz's most feared ability is that when it hits a target of equal rank to the spell one of their eardrums will burst resulting in either temporary deafness or greatly reduced hearing for two posts following the post where the attack connects.
Strengths:
Maiming- As mentioned above the Shriek of Camazots causes maiming in a target greatly dulling their sense of hearing .
Weaknesses:
Noticeable - As the caster must preform the screech such a spell has a noticeable telegraph to it.
Vocal damage - If the casters vocal cords become damaged they will be unable to cast this spell as they are required to produce sound.
Name: Tlazolteotl's Kiss
Rank: D
Type: Curse , Damage over time, Status
Duration: 3 Posts
Cooldown: 6 Posts
Description: Tlazolteotl is known as the filth eating goddess. The patron deity of courtesans and vagrants she is often scorned as little more than divine riff-raff. Such disdain however is foolish as even the lowest of the low can hold secret depths. The reason Tlazolteotl consumes such waste is to purify it and spare the world the terrible consequences of their own depravity. So it is that Tlazolteotl's Kiss fires an emerald orb roughly a foot in diameter at 30 meters per second with a distance of up to 50 meters. Upon striking a target this spell places a glowing green mark upon them which lasts for three posts. This mark will only trigger if the target casts an offensive spell and is of higher rank than the caster of Tlazolteol's kiss in which case the curse will activate afflicting the target with a host of bloody painful sores around their nether regions. While both humiliating and making movement excruciating these marks deal 10 damage per post over a maximum of 3 posts (Each post the mark is applied without being activated lessens this by 1).
Strengths:
Humiliating: Mages tend to be a proud lot and such a spell reminds them that they are (for the most part) very much human despite having wondrous magic.
Weaknesses:
Required trigger: Tlazolteotl's Kiss can only activate when an enemy of higher rank casts an offensive spell. Tlazoltel wishes to bring down the proud and strong – not bully the weak.
Potential Wiff : If the enemy waits out the duration of the spell before attacking this ability will do nothing even if struck by the initial attack.
Name: Talons of the Nagual
Rank: D
Type: Force, Offensive
Duration: 1 Post.
Cooldown: 3 Posts
Description:Naguals are the dangerous were beasts of the deep rainforest. Often taking the shape of Jaguars they stalk the night making meals of unwary travellers and natives alike. Nagual's can also be servants of the gods and if one is participially devoted to Coatlicue - grandmother earth she may allow them to draw upon the power of these fearsome beasts claws. Talons of the Nagual allows one to create spectral claws that protrude like blades up to a meter from the hands which are use to quickly slash and opponent before disappearing. The talons deal 20 damage.
Strengths:
Unexpected: One can easily use this spell to make a melee attack that much more deadly to an unsuspecting victim.
Weaknesses:
Free Hand: The caster requires at least one free hand to summon these energy talons.
Melee Range – This spell lacks any form of long range capability.
Name: Quetzalcoatl's mercy.
Rank: D
Type: Self Healing
Duration: 1 Post.
Cooldown: 3 Posts
Description: There are only two gods who do not ask for blood tribute. First is the Dualities who are remote and distant so that they factor little in human sorcery. The second is the feathered serpent Quetzalcoatl a dragon god who acts as the benefactor of mankind. Instead of lifeblood the wise reptile asks only that the caster ingest particular flowers as an act of sacrifice. To cast Quetzalcoatls mercy the caster eats a small number of sorrel flowers and in return regains 15 hp.
Strengths:
No blood: As this magic comes from the feathred serpent it does not require the blood offerings of other spells.
Weaknesses:
Personal only – This spell can only effect that caster and no others.
Dedication – The caster must spend a post getting out and consuming the petals required for the spell if they do not already have them on hand meaning that this will be the only action they take in the post.
